LAGOS, April 4 (Reuters) - Nigeria's central bank said on Wednesday it would auction 183.64 billion naira ($1.17 billion) in treasury bills at its regular monthly debt auction next week.

The central bank said it would sell 30.15 billion naira in 91-day paper and 73.49 billion naira in 182-day bills and 80 billion in 364-day bills next Wednesday.

Nigeria, Africa's second biggest economy after South Africa, issues treasury bills regularly to reduce money supply, curb inflation and help lenders manage their liquidity.

Yields on the papers were mixed at the last auction with yields on the 91-day paper falling, while returns on 182-day bills rose.

Looks like they're doing a total cleanup of the infected files right now. And to think no official statement has been given regarding the incident? I'm really disappointed in them. Honesty should be a major virtue in banking!!!

E cash:

It is phishing not actually server attack.
Those guys with .tk extension are actually fond of that, they will send you info ( I received a mail to this effect last week), that you should confirm your bank details by clicking here ( A link to supposed GTBbank website) that will then direct you to their dubious website, similar to the internet platform of GTB.

On careful look, you will discover that the address in the address bar is not reading GTB , but the phising website.tk or like. All they want is your internet banking details, but they are yet not too wise.

Are you for real? shocked

PapaBrowne:

I experienced it 2 days ago and yesterday.
I had to make a very important transfer so I had to look for a way around.
I observed that the problem existed in Chrome and Mozilla browsers, so I tried Explorer and it worked without problems.

Funnily, I called GTBank to report the incident and the customer care representative said he hasn't gotten any reports of that nature, which I could tell he was lying cos he went ahead to assure me that it would soon be resolved.

However since then, I have been checking my account balance regularly!!

Isn't good at all for a banks we repose so much trust in.

Damn!! The attack was targeted at machines running IE6 - IE8.

I actually noticed that yesternite bt went on to do my transaction wtout knowing the implication. I started having fear after reading frm here that it has bn hacked bt to subdue my fear i decided to call their customer care line and the guy that picked it told me that its just a minor issue they hv fixed. I asked if am safe wt the transaction i did yesday and he said i shouldn't panic that am safe and right nw everytin is okay. My first point of call is to check my acct balance which is stil intact.

Do not take his word for it. Most of the bank's staff don't even understand what happened. Only the IT security guys know and they're not allowed to divulge info about it. If I were you, I would immediately change my PIN and any other credential associated with my account with them. Since they have refused to admit the fact that they were compromised, rest assured that they will not be held liable should anything happen to the funds in your account.
Webmasters / Re: GTBank Website Has Been Hijacked? by webstradamus: 5:41pm On Feb 15, 2012
I'll advise y'all to stay clear of using the GTB website for now. It was actually infected with malware in a Blackhole Toolkit Website 14 Attack. Until GTB gives an official account of the incident and inform of us of what steps they took to manage it, I think y'all shouldn't use the website (especially for transactions).

Hi Nairaland,
Just have a question if any one can help me to anwer it.
My wife has a valid multiple entry (tourist) visa and has visited the U.S once, but I would want her to change to F2, to join me.

Now, is there a risk that she might lose her tourist (valid) visa if she is denied the F2 visa? Any one with similar experience, kindly share.

Thanks for your replies

Considering the fact that i flew with Delta for 230,000Ngn last year, thats unbelievable. They serve great Nigerian foods on board though.

U can say that again!!! I have actually modified my flight to include my final stop (Minneapolis). So I'll be doing LOS-ATL-MSP all for 145,216 NGN. Great bargain I never imagined I could get!!! I know Delta might not be comfy like Qatar/Emirates but am better off without the long middle east layovers. 8hrs idling in any airport (no matter how posh) no be beans if u ask me  grin

@All,
I believe God has reasons for doing things. No matter what,I won't be discouraged. If my ambition and aim to study in Canada will yield a positive outcome in my career, then God will pave way for me to go. If not,I know he will definitely pave the best way for me,as he has been doing since day 1 of my life.(Insha Allah)
The Pulmonogist told me that the report of the CT- Scan and CRP test confirms that I have PTB and he that it will take 9mths to get it treated. Well,God is all knowing. An ailment that I treated and got cured of 8yrs ago!!!
Meanwhile,I thank all you guyz 4 your support and love. I will start d treatment immediately. Yet,I solicit advice from the house. I have another option of applying to Universities in The Netherlands. Though the cost of study in Canada is cheaper to Netherlands. (I am not losing hope on Canada)  Yet,I think I should work on plan B if plan A is still on hold, especially the time involved. If plan A is still holding us,there are still more 25 Alphabets nah,  abegiiiii jare. Allah is my strength.
Right now,I am thinking abt a get away after xmas and new year. who is familiar with Netherlands? I feel like going to Amsterdam to recuperate.
@Marcar,I know u r here cos of me. thx so much for your love n support. or shld I visit aussie to recuperate?
ciao  smiley  cool

Why not try the US? It could be your best plan B, u know. I was originally headed for Canada as at late September but got disappointed by my would-be "sponsor" who refused to get me the required documents. Fast foward to December, am on my way to the US on a student visa. I got through admission and visa processing in less than 3 months and I believe you can do same too! And yes, there are loadz of affordable schools in the US. You just have to find them out!!!

Just got a direct flight from Lagos to Atlanta (Delta Airlines) via Wakanow for N108,625. It's the craziest deal I've found since I started searching for flights. Anybody willing to travel on the 29th of December can cash in on this while it lasts. Spread the news!!!

I got it!!! It was surely the Lord's doing. Details to come when I return to the office.

[b]I ended up spending the whole day at the airport no thanks to Aero angry, I got back to base a lil after midnite but the joy of my interview overwhelmed all the frustration Aero wanted to put me through. Anyways here's how my interview went at the Abuja embassy:

After all the normal fingerprinting and stuffs, we sat down on the queue waiting to be interviewed. I observed there were 4 VO's and cubicle 7 was the cubicle to avoid  grin (she is the new "chinko" and was denying everyone and impatiently too). I secretly prayed against getting her but God refused my prayer cos He had already placed my Visa in her hands.

VO: Pass me your documents.

Me: (Passed my travel documents, educational documents and financial documents)

VO: (Picks up my passport and looking into my I20) Why did you choose to study IT at Minnesota State University Mankato? (she seemed to have a problem pronouncing "Mankato" so I corrected her and told her the correct pronunciation).

Me: I chose MSU Mankato because their MS IT program has a flexible, practical-oriented curriculum designed to address and proffer cutting edge solutions to the ICT needs of businesses and organizations which suits me perfectly as a working professional. The curriculum allows a perfect blend of my major interests: Software, Networking, and Databases. Moreover, my present job requires expertise in these areas which means I will be able to immediately apply the skills acquired during the program on my return to Nigeria.

VO: What do you do?

Me: I work as a Systems Analyst at the University of XXXXX. I manage and maintain web projects, servers, email and elearning systems.

VO: What are your plans after graduation?

Me: I'll have to return immediately to my job as I'll be on a study leave throughout my program duration. I'll also have to work with my present employer for at least 2 years after my program which is a condition for granting the leave. In the not-too-distant future, I intend to start up my own IT consulting firm.

VO: Your visa is approved. Take this form ,  bla bla bla (I no hear the rest cos of happiness).
Me: Thank you (forming calmness) grin

Note that she didn't check any other document apart from my passport and I-20. No questions about finances/sponsor, transcripts, GRE/TOEFL (which I didn't even have). Looking back now, I know it was just God's favour. People were shocked she finally gave someone but them no know say na Baba God sign am. Special thanks to Square65 for putting me on my toes with the mock interview and also for your prayers and encouragement. Also want to thank imperiouxx for always willing to share ideas and perspectives. The Lord who did mine will favour you also. Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread in one way or the other, your contributions helped a great deal in building my confidence!!!

International Applicants,

Please be aware that due to a technical error throughout the SEVIS system in all American consulates and embassies, VISA issuance has been put on hold. This means there will be a general delay in issuing VISAs for I-20 holders. You may want to contact the embassy or consulate you where your VISA interview is to take place, to find out if your appointment will be affected.

Where did you get this information?
