Ricky Rozay: Hello guys,US Air is genuine. Delays happen with every airline especially during winter when you will be arriving. But hey, whats the hurry? I found Sun Country for $140 on Kayak so you might want to check that out. One thing you must understand though is that you have to pay for checked-in luggage outside of the airfare (and this is the norm for domestic flights). Regarding the other issue, I spoke to the guy and I should get some feedback soon. Will reply your email then. |
Ms Nas: Ha bros! You can lie oo. Wetin be exsanguination? U no write GRE abeg.fahrenheit or celsius |
Ms Nas: It's 420 nowPlus the US bank's ATM fees which could range from $3 to $5 per transaction. Also note that some bank ATM's have very low ATM withdrawal limits (sometimes as low as $300) per transaction and all those charges would eventually add up. @waledudu ... I posted this a while back. webstradamus: Just in case anyone is still looking for a cost-effective (or should I say cost-free |
imperiouxx: No, you can't combine the two because the PhD is more or less employment with the department, just like the MS GA but more professional than MS GA.Choi!!! See as you rubbish pharmacists finish ![]() |
seunolumonday: I was for 7:30am,did d necessary tin had all my docs ready including my toefl and my gre which was 320/340 my school classes starts today 21st of october as written on my I-20 but i reschuldued so d school sent me an extension letter for 10working days, dis was hw d interview went embassy was great dis morning d rate of approval was very high,VO: wat state are u goin 2? Me:Missouri. VO:how did u learn abt d skool me :Gave her d answer, she seemed impressed. VO:why webster uni. Me:told her. VO:what was ur highest qualification, what universit, wen did u graduate, what have u bin doin since den,re u marrried,do u have kid,re u travellin alone, who is ur sponsor, what does he do.Me:answered all it was a lenthy interview but me and d young lady had fun cos it was like a chat she just brought out d pick up form and was abt givin me she just removed my i20 and said i shld hold on dat classes starts today i told her i had an extension letter(dat was d only doc required) she went tru it spent time she just said sorry she cant grant me visa dat d extension letter doesnt count pls wat went wrong d vo was very young youngest among dem dont no wat 2 do will defer 2 springSorry about your denial. The VO is definitely inexperienced; she was wrong to have denied you based on your original start date when the school had granted you an extension (and you had proof). Tough luck! But fear not, you will definitely get it the next time. On another note, I'm really curious to know why Webster though. I hope you got a full ride sha cos with a GRE score of 320, you could have gotten into ... ![]() |
By the way, here's wishing all Spring hopefuls successful interviews and smooth transition to the land of the free and the home of the brave. |

olarwarlay: @Flynbird - For your international calls, use KeepCalling.com.... All you need to do is register, choose a local number to use, buy the desired minutes, activate the pinless dial option and call from your phone.Great suggestions Olarwarlay! @Flynbird You might also want to check out Localphone at http://www.localphone.com/prices/monthly_subscriptions $7.80/month gets you 200 minutes to Nigeria. That's 3.9¢/min. However, you cannot carry over unused minutes to the next month. |
samnoah: Ok. Oga Webstradamous... I get it right? Please bia ohIf you truly sent an email to selfstudy360@gmail.com you should have received an immediate response (usually within a few minutes). I just checked the logs and all five requests for today were replied automatically with the links. Check your junk folder if you don't find it in your inbox. |
foohard: Hello House,That's really outrageous. Are you sure its only for Fall? Cos I know they usually charge for a full session. Even at that, its still on the high side. But you need to confirm first if you are allowed to buy your own insurance as some schools do not allow international students do that. If they allow, then you're in luck! I think Imperiouxx would have some suggestions on good deals on insurance. |
foohard: Hello House,Dude, forget about that study leave. Maybe God is trying to tell you something by the delays. Do not miss your flight ... resign and pay them the 1 month salary. Don't tie yourself down over there. The future is very bright for you here, trust me I had similar fears in my time but now I know better. If you're in IT and you're good at what you do, there is no UNKNOWN. You will get a JOB! And your Nigerian experience will count especially if you've got professional certifications to go with it. Even if you have to start afresh with entry level positions, it will still be miles ahead of whatever you're earning right now (adjusted for cost of living/inflation) and the quality of life is incomparable. Only challenge may be visa sponsorship but it appears that won't be a problem for you since your wife is a PR. Bro, don't modify the perfect script God has written for your life. Just go with the flow ![]() |
jonnywalker: Thanks everyone for ur wonderful work.i recently moved to ohio n i badly need the driving manual to help me pass the knowledge test. im asking if i can study the ones people have posted for different state.if not then i would be very grateeful to get the ohio drivin manual on this thread.thanks n stay blessDriving manual for Ohio -> http://publicsafety.ohio.gov/links/hsy7607.pdf Practice Questions for Knowledge Test -> http://driversprep.com/test.php?state=oh More Practice Questions for Knowledge Test -> http://www.usdriving.net/dmv_practice.php?state=oh |
syahboy: Yeah! Bro that's the thing, don't really want to wait and the NYSC thing I see it as a waste of time. I'm just aiming at top 40 programs for Ms, then for Phd I'll concentrate on top 20 programs. Considering I want to get a phd wasting a year on NYSC is a big deal for me, I wish there was a way I could make Fall 2014. Thanks bro I hope you enjoy your flight to the USAWith the kind of GRE score you have, you should be aiming for top 10 programs ... don't limit yourself! I believe you're probably enroute a first class already (undergraduate), just try to hit a 5.0 in your final 2 semesters in school. Start doing research with your professors and try to have them include you as a co-author in one or two publications. Finally, apply directly to a PhD program since that is your ultimate goal. On another note, could you send me the extra GRE materials you used so I could make them available to everyone? |
Congrats bigfrancis21 ... we all saw it coming a long time ago! |
Ricky Rozay: Yes I got a flight but Won't be going for the Fall anymore.. I intend going for spring 2014.. So will defer my admission to Spring to allow me enough time to Plan ahead..Sounds good! |
Ricky Rozay: When is your School resuming? Hope u can still meet up.. Why not go with Royal air Maroc.. I think dey are the cheapest u can get for now.. They fly to Morrocco first and then to JFK NewYork...Have you gotten a flight yet? |
flynbird: There's a stop at Manchester on QuatarAir. Wouldn't I need a transit visa for stopping there? JWYou shouldn't need a transit visa but I would confirm from the airline. I once flew BA from Abuja - New York via London Heathrow and didn't require a transit visa. |
De Tus: @ojap, hahaha i think so. He's bringing a good business so that we can save money. I'm so glad rightnow! America will be like the UK soon. The british worship money.Lol ... you know I didn't even think of that! Now who's the real IGBO? ![]() |
OjaP: Is Webstradamus an Igbo man?No sir I got the drift from a friend and thought most people here would find it beneficial so I decided to share. |
De Tus: @webstradamus, U wanna know? HahahaNever mind ... lol De Tus: @webstradamus, that's great. It seems like you're a very good business man. I like that lol. Give me five:-)Haha ... just thought I should share some tips with the folks here ... especially the newly arrived. |
Just in case anyone is still looking for a cost-effective (or should I say cost-free ) way of transferring money from their GTB account to their US bank account, simply go to any Walmart and purchase a money order in your name using your GTB Naira Mastercard. You can then pay in the money order to your US bank account. You do not incur any charges from GTB (since it is a POS transaction) and the money order only costs $0.70 (70 cents). If you ask me I'd say this is the cheapest and fastest way to transfer funds to the US from Naija. However, maximum you can go on a single money order is $1000 so if you wanted to transfer say $5000, you would have to purchase 5 money orders (total cost will be $3.50). Imagine how much savings you would be making when compared to doing a wire transfer! Plus you get your money instantly!! |

De Tus: @Lentywilly, I-20 again? Jesus. Pls do not be sad. I think God didn't want you to go at this time. Your case is smiliar to mine. Though it was sponsorship inaccurancy. Was so blind that I couldn't detect it. Even my parents didn't detect it too. Was later revealed to us at the church that something nasty could have happened to me in the US. That the man who interviewed me really loved me. That he acted like a father as well as my God. LOL!Bros which church you dey go? ![]() |
bigfrancis21: I feel that has changed now going by the requirement that states you must not have been denied a visa in the last 6 months. Or was the same law in effect during your time? Maybe it was not that's why yours went through. I stand to be corrected though.AFAIK, that law has always been there. I guess they state it clearly just to discourage people who have previously attended an interview so as to give everyone a fair chance. If you need emergency appointment after a denial, I'd say go for it. You have nothing to lose really ![]() |
