To all those expecting good news from CDHC, I wish u all the grace of GOD. Let the will of God be done in your lives. I would have bin waiting too but at the time my application was ready for submission, I was already a week late from the 3 months minimum application time so I had to defer for january start,  Pls if anyone out here is for jan start , add me up on 220B0EE3,  I applied for compt science at d university of saskatchewan

I got into Memorial CS for Fall 2011 but I'm deferring to JAN cos am yet to get my original offer letter up till now (imagine that!). Might have to do with the Canada Post strike. Good to know u got into UofS, I also applied there but couldn't get a supervisor and eventually did not get in. I'd like to ask u a few questions off-forum.

Hi everyone,

I was just deferred my admission till winter so as to gather good documents. But i have onee quick question. We have got a family business and my dad is the MD while my mum is a director, can i use both as sponsors? Declaring my dads personal account which is not too fine now and also declearing a 2 Years Fixed deposit in my mum's name of a very good amount more than enough to cover my tuition and expenses? Is it possible they just say the money was fixed for the past 2 years and will be used for my education, and also provide all of my dads landed documents and income from rent, the families business certificate and all other. Company documents? And also a landed property in both my parents name.

Please i need answers so i can know if this can work out!

I think you've got good financial cover especially with the landed property. How did u proceed with the deferment? I recently got a soft copy of my offer letter and Noseworthy says the original will arive in 3-6weeks.

I should submit my visa application by the end of this month. Congratulations once again on your admission.

Thanks dear, good to know you will be turning in your app by month end. Wish I could say the same. But then I don't even have the foggiest idea when I'll receive my offer letter. To make matters worse, I will be out of the country for the next 3 weeks on official matters. I can already see deferment staring at me in the eyes.

@ everyone, will the CDHC accept a colour print out from a scanned copy of an admission letter?

@ cuddlemii

Pls take it easy on eky102. I know u feel insulted and rightly so too. But I really don't think he meant it that way (I might be wrong though).

@eky102, pls try and rephrase that statement for peace sake. I know u didn't mean it that way so prove me right.

@ webstrad,

Thank God i finally have someone with me in memorial, i perosnally called Elizabeth noseworthy stating i wanted to schedule a pick up for my letter via fedex, and she said they seend only via regula mail so i can't, what i had to do was to change my permanent addresse on file to that of my SIS in the US,believe it will take a shorter time in transit from canada to US, and have my sister fedex it. Concerning the tuition its superb, mine is less than 5k, so i don't think we will have much of a problem with financial documents and the CDHC. As your status changed to Decision made? And trust me those letter will take lots of time. I wouldn't even want to rush my application to CDHC, so i am already thinking of deferring my admission, but i want to see the letter first OR WHAT DO YOU THINK?. My email is ekeneifeobu@yahoo.com. Let's share ideas and hope for the Best

I only got an email notifying me that my file has been recommended for admission. I will have to follow up on SGS for the rest. My status is still "application complete". Did Noseworthy confirm that your letter has been dispatched? Did your supervisor offer you funding?

Cuddlemii:

Congrats dear. I would advice you to ask them to send you a soft copy of your offer of acceptance then print it out with a coloured printer. Secondly ask them if they can courier it to you that you wont mind bearing the cost that you can pay via credit card or whatever.

Thanks dear. I'd give your advice a try. But with all this kain shakara abi na dullness Memorial dey form, I hope dey agree to it sha. U won't believe they received my complete application package since early Nov 2010 and it took them 6  whole months to make a decision ,  mehn those guys are so slow!!! Well, I thank God the decision went in my favour eventually.

gel03:

My dear BIG CONGRATS to you. i just got to know also dis evening that i was not admitted into Memorial. i am gonna face University Of Lethbridge now. what was your class of degree? 2.1 or 2.2?

eh ya ,  sorry about the reject. Thank God you had a Plan B. I did a 2.1 oh (quite close to a 1st actually). I guess my inability to secure a supervisor cost me the opportunity of being accepted into the thesis route and hence, no funding. But its all good sha. Let's see how it goes.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by webstradamus: 9:30pm On May 17, 2011
@gel03 and other Memorial hopefuls

I just got admitted to Memorial a few mins ago. I applied for MS Computer Science and was recommended for the Course/Project Route with Work Term instead of the Thesis Route which I originally applied for (maybe they think I ain't got enough research potential or I've got too much work/professional experience, na dem sabi).

Bad news is I ain't getting any funding but then there's a compulsory one-semester paid internship which i find attractive for canadian experience. Good news is that tuition is below 6k for the entire 20-month program!!!

I know it could take a few more weeks for Offer Letter to reach me in Nigeria, possibly early or mid-June. Do you guys think it will still be feasible to apply for a study permit by then?

My own issue is that I used WES and to my surprise after paying them $209 for the evaluation and upgrading,I was given DOCUMENT VERIFICATION NOTIFICATION yesterday . So, I want to know from anybody that has used their services before to tell me if this is their normal procedure. The most annoying issue is that they said they send the photocopies to my school and I'm afraid if I will meet up with June 15 deadlines. This is because it will take at least 2 weeks for it to get to my university by regular post and many weeks for them to treat it and many many weeks for them to send it back( if at all they will) sad sad. Naija schools sa! I fear them ooooo.

You may check with WES to request that they send the verification request to your school via email considering our inefficient postal service else you might have to wait all year. I did a preview evaluation on their website and had a 4.35/5 Nigerian GPA evaluated to 3.63/4. Unfortunately,  I can't go ahead with an offficial evaluation because they say don't evaluate transcripts from my school (I wonder why). My only hope now is ECE but I've read a lot of bad reviews (non-nigeria though) about them and wouldn't want my grades evaluated poorly.

That's why I am looking for anyone's experience with ECE. I need to have an idea of how they evaluate our degrees so I know whether to go ahead with them or not.

Sorry guys if I am digressing from the original topic but I was wondering if anyone here has used or have an idea about how Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) evaluate Nigerian degrees. I'm looking to do a credential evaluation with them but I hear their evaluation reduces one's GPA unfairly.

Anyone with ECE evaluation experience?

@ ALL

This is my case, and i am kinda confused.

I have gotten admission to ULETH to study Mgt as a second degree with major in Human Resources Mgt/ Labour Relations . its a 2.5yrs program cos i was admitted with my BSC. i am still waiting for a response from memorial university for Masters In Employment Relations. The reason is this 2.2 clause.

Now i intend to file in my visa application next month but the issue is, i want my husband to come with me as i will be traveling with our 9months old baby.
The best offer i got for childcare is $500 monthly which is quite expensive. i will be getting a study leave with pay from my work place ( a state polytechnic as an administrative staff) for the duration of my study abroad. i earn over 100k monthly. My hubby"s job is on a contract basis so no security which is the reason i am thinking he should resign and go with me inorder to care for our son while i go to school and probably work when i return from school daily.

pls i need suggestions on how to package my visa application for success.

thanks all.

Have you contacted the program chair/correspondent directly? If not, call or email them. They would have better info for you about the status of your application. Don't just relax and listen to what SGS says. And as per the 2.2 thingy, don't let it discourage you. If your last 2 years grade is up to 65%, then you stand a chance. Call the program now to know your status, it will help ease your anxiety.

@dapsy, re dey gud? Do dey offer scholarships/financial aids? Haw soon do I have 2 apply for fall 2012?

CS at U of S is highly competitive. You will need to have a somewhat stellar profile to get in. They hardly admit applicants without a First Class degree. Another thing is the GRE. They say its not compulsory but I'd advise you to take it cos it will give them an idea of your ability in comparison with other applicants. Finally, make sure you get a "willing" supervisor before you apply, it will help a lot. Else you will just be "binning" your application fee among other things.

And in case you're wondering, I am talking from experience. What's your profile? I was going to recommend a few CS programs in Canada that I found during my application season, but then cuddlemii already did a good job with that. Generally, your choice of schools should boil down to your profile. Good thing you're still in school, you still have the chance to hit all 'em high A's, I really hope you come out with a First as it will make a whole lot of difference, believe me.

I already got admission into university of lethbridge to do a second degree and its also as a result of dis 2.2 clause. I dint want d option of a college for postgraduate.

That's great , It means you've got one leg in already! We dey come for back wink

However, postgraduate diploma is not a bad deal, a close friend went that route last year and she's almost through with the program. Plus she's also applying to an MSc program and she stands a better chance than most of us applying from here.

@sunky644, I have been trying to get a supervisor without success as all my POIs seem too busy to respond to my email. I really don't know what else to do now than to pray for favour. I called the grad correspondent for my program and she said my file is still under review by the admissions committee. I guess I just have to keep hoping and praying.

@gel03, I applied for MSc Computer Science.

@obietrix, MUN just gave me a negative reply too. Pls tell us institutions that accept 2:2 for Post-graduate, whatever it is maybe diploma or qualifying program.
@delta, thanks for that info, but unfortunately my last two years is what brought me down, cos one victimisation I faced with a lecturer most especially my final year.
I will be the happiest man on earth if I can just get this opportunity of studying in Canada to proof my worth and tell this wicked ones I am not "olodo". I am thinking of writing GRE whether it will brighten my chances. No be say person no sabi book but this wicked lecturers that act like Thin god can be destructive.

Sorry about the Memorial reject. How/when did they contact you? What program did you apply for? I am also expecting a decision and I am getting nervous.

To Prospects wit 2.2 grade,
I just received a notification on my application to masters to memorial university which was unfortunatley not positive.Thats basically because I had a 2.2, so it is evident that this school will not give admission to 2.2 even is it is the minimum requirement. It is the only university in Canada that accepts 2.2 and also the cheapest.u can imagine the number of applications they receive.
However I had a back up application to other colleges for a post graduate study which was positive.

@every 1
I'd like to know if it is mandatory I include my sponsors tax clearance cos at the moment the application for tax clearance is yet to be made to FIRS.please I am using a company account.

What program did u apply for? When did you get the admission decision? I am also expecting a decision from Memorial and I am really so anxious.

@wip4, I stumbled on this thread recently and I just can't help but commend u for ur openness/willingness to help people. Keep it up man!  That said, I have a few questions to ask you:

1. Did ur girlfriend sit for GRE before being accepted to MUN?
2. Did she get any funding upon being accepted?
3. Do u think a nigerian graduate wit a BSc. CGPA well above 4.0 stands a chance of receiving good funding even without GRE?

Thanks in anticipation of a prompt response.

Having followed this thread 'religiously' for the past few months, I must confess I have gained so much from the wealth of information herein. Thanks to you guys, I took the bold step, started my SAP journey last month and I have now obtained the TERP10 certification which has increased my understanding of the different modules and how they are used for integration of business processes. Due to my IT background, I'm moving on to SAP System Administration (BASIS) and I have been fortunate (thanks to this thread) to get most of the official training materials required for my next certification: SAP Certified Technology Associate - System Administration (Oracle DB) with SAP NetWeaver 7.0

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread in one way or the other. And to all fellow BASIS 'aspirants' interested in the training materials I've got, drop your email so i can send you a download link.
