The coordinated attack on Lagos has been done and dusted.

Are the scripts players finally happy.

We told you endsars was been infiltrated, you called us names.

There was never a massacre in Lekki.

Till now, no pictures of the said massacre, no families coming forward to ask for missing persons.

All the enemies of Nigeria shall be put to shame.

If you know anyone killed why not show us.

Most of the pictures shared were not from Lekki.

I dare anyone to show evidence of any killing.

There were gunshots, but no killing.

Let us not be sentimental about this.

The damage has been don already.

Some who have refused to be schooled but are all round commentators on issues they've got little or no knowledge on, keep making this statement: "How can ASUU be dictating to his employer on how he should be paid? I trust Buhari will deal with them."

Congratulations and Weldone! Buhari is really dealing with them. Meanwhile, this is what Nigerian law says;

"The Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003 (otherwise called the Universities Autonomy Act No. 1, 2007) enacted by the National Assembly and signed into law on 10th July 2003 and later gazetted by the Federal Republic of Nigerian Official Gazette No. 10, Volume 94 of 12th January 2007 as Act No. 1 of 2000, has vested the powers of managing personnel and payroll system issues in the hands of each university’s governing council".

Has this Act been repealed by Buhari's government and replaced with "OAGF is vested with the power to manage the payroll of all public universities through IPPIS"?

Lets set our emotions, loyalty and interest aside and behave like educated people. Presidents will come and go, and Nigeria will remain.
Why is ASUU giving the government an option with UTAS? Why are they not saying only government council can manage their payroll? That is because they understand the act more than you do. No need to explain.

ASUU IS FRAUD

Your last sentence vividly capture the mind of the government! Anyway, I leave that for the Nigerians to decide.

Just think about it, why's the standard dropping? You think it's because of their strikes! C'mon, it takes someone who has been exposed to what education is outside Nigeria and what is obtainable in Nigeria to understand the gravity of what's on the ground. Probably you think it's just about dishing out graduates every year and just acquiring certificates!
Dude, frequent strikes by lecturers, pursuit of personal interest by same lecturers are part of the main causes. Almost all FG lecturers take up appointment elsewhere, or engage fully in other businesses, go on strike at will. How will they produce standard graduates. But yes let us keep blaming the FG

You advice ASUU, who you be, who be you. Well as long as it doesn't affect you, schools can remain closed. Standard of education can continue to drop and we can blame Buhari again. Those who have the means can go to private schools and abroad.

Seriously, you must be a slow learner! Must you publicly display your ignorance? Have you taken time to know what the agitations are all about? Who told you IPPIS is the main bone of contention. IPPIS is a global problem, not peculiar to them alone. You will need to educate yourself about their main agitation with the government in order for you to make an informed contribution!

I wonder why ASUU is even fighting for the revitalization of the Nigerian universities system instead of fighting for their pockets like medical doctors are doing!

The implication of a comment like yours is that Nigeria is not worth fighting for.
Pele oo fast learner. you said a lot of trash without mentioning what ASUU is fighting for.
IPPS is the main issue of contention now, except you want to deceive yourself.
ASUU is fighting for the revitalization of the Nigerian universities system grin grin grin grin
Now you are even accusing Doctors for fighting for their pocket, but ASUU is fighting for the country grin grin grin

Doctors will say the same thing.

They kicked against it because it wasn't working.

Your hatred for ASUU is glaringly obvious and I wonder why.

I bet we have more than 100 associations in the civil service, why is ASUU and co the only ones against it?
Of course becsaue it will expose all double jobs.

Are you not worried that ASUU members are taking jobs at several universities at the same time, thus depriving unemployed qualified Nigerians.

I laugh when one lecturer complained to me about deductions for PAYE under IPPS? You mean you don't want to pay tax?

ASUU are just selfish and self centered. But it doesn't not concern them.
Students time and life are wasted, they will eventually settle with FG and get their pay.

Imagine one idiot saying Abacha, Obasanjo etc bowed to ASUU and this government will eventually bow to them. Useless comment.

[s]E pele, Mr. Ignoramus with small English. Internet-savvy bunkum? Geez. Must you wield words bigger than you? For your information, my usage is very apt. Here's one definition: an ignorant or stupid person. Have you not shown yourself to be ignorant? Even when a teacher offered to show you evidence to the contrary, you would rather wallow in your ignorance. Says a lot about what sort of student you must have been.

ASUU selfish my foot. TETFund (ETF) was ASUU's idea. Today it is what sustains not just universities but also polytechnics. It is what has allowed the construction of scores of facilities used by students around the country . Non-teaching staff are trained and funded from it. All of these based on the struggle of the same ASUU that twits like you label selfish.

What you need to realize is that the baying of people like you is meaningless, apart from being a source of mild annoyance. You can change nothing, froth as you may. Abacha, Babangida, Obasanjo, they all bowed to ASUU. The present government will too, so don't get your bp raised for nothing

[quote author=proffemi post=95093063]Just like you, there are those of us who are working internally against strikes. Our motive may however shock you. The primary reason why ASUU doesn't see eye to eye with the government is the union's stand against high school fees.

Pure lies... School fees has always been increased by the school's governing board, not FG. And ASUU has NEVER gone against school fees increase, only SUG do that.

I have always opined that ASUU has no business keeping fees down. Let's ask for our rights and leave the government to sort out their sources: fees or taxes; wetin concern us?

You re just a big ignoramus with big English.

You did not get the point!
Lecturers who are assiduously working to find solution to problems, are members of ASUU and their results is to the credit of ASUU but ASUU in itself is NOT a research body meant to proffer solution to national problems. A research by any ASUU member will not be ascribed to ASUU but to the University that the member belongs.
The UTAS that ASUU is bringing forward may have been developed by ASUU members but ASUU still paid them for the development.
ASUU is a union and not a research body
ASUU members are first members of the intellectual community before joining ASUU. What has been their individual or joint contribution to the nation.
UTAS was an after thought from ASUU.

Check out all the strike by ASUU, if ALWAYS for selfish purposes. I was in school for 7 years for a 5 year course, without a single carryover. No thanks to ASUU. They are nothing but a selfish union, taking advantage of the government. No be their fault, na the way Nigeria be.

Well, everybody have right to their opinion!
ASUU said they had originally opposed the introduction of IPPIS from the begining, and that was a long time ago.
ASUU has laid out the problems IPPIS, how it is incompatible with their structure, and they are offering alternative so as to help the government.
ASUU is a union meant to cater for certain group of people, they are not a national union for all Nigerians. They need to talk if they think the right of their members are not being respected. ASUU do not need to proffer solution to Nigerian problems.
Mind you, the oil workers rejected IPPIS and went on strike for like three or so days and quickly government called them back and they insisted on being paid with GIFMIS, government agreed and GIFMIS was reactivated for them immediately without them bringing any alternative like ASUU!
Your opinion is accepted. You said a few right things.
But I disagree with the bolded. Universities are not just meant for lecturers to form unions and defend their interest. Universities are citadel of knowledge. Check out majority of innovations worldwide, Universities always take the lead. Shey Nigerians cannot copy that ni.
And no, ASUU did not proffer solution or an alternative until IPPS came on board. Lets get that straight.

You guys should stop asking this question. It only shows you're oblivious of current affairs.

Just the most recent example : https://ace.aau.org/ace-1-centers/acegid/
They (and other Nigerian collaborators) were the first in Africa to sequence the NCOV-SARS2 virus. The same Africa that contains South Africa, home to the continent's best universities! They have also indicated that they are capable of producing a vaccine if properly funded.

The lesson for you is this: the Center is funded by the World Bank and not FG. Do you think it is a coincidence that we suddenly start having world-class contributions when adequate funding was provided? Isn't this what ASUU has been singing to people like you and the FG for years?

Sidon there dey ask JAMB question.
Good one.
But I can say that the Nigerian universities are doing far less than they should be doing.
Suddenly they can create UTAS, what contribution to power, to roads, healthcare etc etc. Funding is a problem, agreed, but what can thy show for the funding received.

Are they not currently subjecting it to the integrity test? And who says the UTAS costs nothing? ASUU is only offering it to government free of charge after developing it with their own money (in millions of naira)!
Can't Bill offer windows OS, free of charge to any government if they so wish? How much does Linux OS cost the users? Does that mean Linux is useless?
Don't miss the point. Where was ASUU when everyone was complaining of the old payment system.
Why is ASUU offering an alternative, what is wrong with the present one?
What other problem confronting the contry has ASUU offered a solution?
Anything that touches their pay, they begin to shout and cry.

All Nigerian universities combined, what contribution have they made to national development aside graduating half baked graduates every year and going on strike.

We are close to actualizing UTAS’ integrity process....

Hello ASUU, no software come free. If you want to offer yours for free, make sure it passes integrity test first.

Even Playstore will not accept your App if it doesn't meet or satisfies integrity test.
