Some persons who have commented above me lack comprehension ability. Where did he say that he won't hand over to the opposition if he loses the election in the article?

The next would be on short men. It's our duty to depart from this traditional and parochial perception. My mother is short, but I never saw her displayed any of these characteristics towards my father. In fact, she never had an issue or a quarrel with him until he joined his ancestors.

The temperament of Buhari is unsuitable for a budding democracy like ours. He reeks of our beastly past to ever convince me that he is capable of driving change in sophisticated modern Nigeria. I don't mean to undermine GMB with this comment, but it is just how I feel about him. For goodness' sake, the man has obviously made no personal progress since he left office thirty years ago.

The expression 'practice makes perfect', though ungrammatical, is universally recognised to be correct.

The fault with the use of by and with in sentence number 7 is due to the differences between BrE and AmE.

I've seen the use of WITH instead of ON in expression number 19 in the Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary.

The basic difference between our pidgin and standard English is the misuse and the total elimination of prepositions.
There is also the occasional misuse of adjectives; e.g. Peter is a talkative instead of Peter is talkative. Adjectives, when they end a sentence, are rarely preceded by articles.

While doing this morning clean-up at home, my memory took me to those early days after service when one was hawking one's CV like Akara and buns on the streets. Thereafter, we just went to the said class and wrote 'Olodo Republic' across the entrance. Students can be rude and funny sometimes.
Fellow Nairalanders, let me hand over to you at this juncture to recount a stupid or funny thing a student has done to you as a teacher or one you've done to a teacher as a student.

No sane society would put down its military for the sake of petty electoral success. I pity those who say such dastardly things about the military and broadcast their failure to the larger world for they are directly cooking their own misfortune. You can't have your cake and eat it. Patriotism is in words as in actions.

Greed blunts the senses. If the north should fall into this trap again, I won't stop anyone who calls them cows. The man looks sickly. Once bitten twice shy. 2019 is not too far.

People may come here to justify OBJ's acts, but the question I always ask is, would OBJ accept such a behaviour from a former president when he was in power? The answer is NO. What I see is that self-seeking perenniality to remain relevant. And it's apt to say OBJ is not alone in this. Many of our former heads of state suffer from this malaise.

What about Tinubu? What about Rotimi Amaechi? What about Saraki?... What about the domestication of the FOI in APC states? And for those who believe that corruption can be curbed by throwing pple into Kirikiri are living in the Stone Age. It's one thing to fight corruption and another to actually identify corrupt people and institute both proactive and reactive measures against it. The question is, is GMB sophisticated enough to that extent to be able to implement such sweeping measures? I sincerely doubt it for all I hear is throwing pple into Kirikiri. What I see coming, if it happens at all, is just a mere change of our exploiters.

Inasmuch as I'm slow in believing this write-up, I want a change in Lagos State, which is the domestication of the FOI in the state.

Abacha's regime was better? Jeez, has it descended to this level? Nigerians seem to suffer from collective historical amnesia, perpetually seeing every succeeding govt to be worse than the previous. No wonder OBJ is now regarded as a saint. And if you're unable to cure yourself of this malaise, I swear you will say the same of the govt that will succeed Jonathan's.

The new political tactic: Accuse another of the same crime you're guilty of before you are accused.

For every single thing that the APC have criticised the PDP, they have done more. The real change I want is when the APC states domesticate the FOI.

OP, I feel there is more to this tale than meets the eye.

In Nigeria, a sane government seems to face the greatest opposition. What OBJ did was a mere cosmetic war against corruption. The sin of GEJ is that he destroyed the 'Owambecracy' some Nigerians are used to. Though his greatest failure is in the area of security, GEJ would be warmly remembered as a president who made the transition from dictatorship into democracy in Nigeria.
