Crime increases with people and when a comparative analysis of crime rates and the population then and now is done, crime has gone down, especially in the developed world. Google it. The skyrocketing inflation is not new and the current trend is far more stable than in the past. I've given you instances in an earlier post. Your view seems to cover only Nigeria, if I understand you properly. I will ask you again, do you prefer living in sixteen-century Africa to today's Africa?

Or between 1914-18 and 1939-45? On morality I won't attempt for lack of concrete measuring criteria but the case of Sodom and Gomorrah is glaring enough. Where you live, would you prefer living there in the sixteen century of slavery and wars to now? Can you compare the Great Depression to the current economic recession?

I feel a lack of understanding man's progress has beclouded many a christian's view on the world. There is always this attempt to see the world as receding to savagery, which is not actually true since the events of the present era are comparable to the one's of the past. Man has conspicuously made progress, even though arguably. I suspect conservative christians have bought into premillennianism to detain believers in fear and to facilitate control. So I'm massively interested in having the views of others on this topic. It is my view that premillennialism encourages pessimism unlike postmillennialism.

I think the OP is on point, speaking from experience as a once-upon-a-time virgin. The list is credible to an extent. Thumbs up, OP.

true, you mentioned the internet in general, but i specified nairaland as a case study. Narrowing it down, so to speak.

I've found people's characters online tend to follow their characters offline, generally speaking, looking at it from the pov of personality, instead of cliques which obtains here. Members of a clique will often present a false image of another member, for various reasons.

Personality wise, if an introvert appears garrulous online, then chances are that is their real personality, barring shyness or reticence when you meet them in public.

The way they type is usually a fairly good indicator of how they are, all things being equal.

Reticence means an unwillingness to speak or a reluctance to interact freely: being reserved. This is often grouped together with introversion but sometimes it doesnt mean the person is necessarily introverted, especially if they socialize more than an average introvert and enjoy people's company.



shyness is a feeling based on fear, unwillingness to interact or speak because of it.

Introversion can be a combination of the two, many more, or just one. It depends.

I've seen the opposite in real life and was greatly surprised. I think there is also the chance of the pen's inability to express the many words of the mouth. Thank you very much for your comment.

I never said that my parameter or k-square is Nairaland. I think I used the word online and I made reference only about people I know offline who are reserved and shy but are garrulous and active online.

Most garrulous and active people I know online are actually shy and taciturn in real life. I'm pondering on this from experience with friends and colleagues who are so reserved in real life yet are so talkative and outspoken online. Why is it so? Are they emboldened by the facelessness the internet provides?

This is a recurring topic with conservative christians who quote it to augment their preaching on the need for one to be born again and maintain his godliness since we are in the last days. But my question is, are things really getting worse? Or is it their belief in eschatology and premillennialism that is responsible for this view? Do they mean this present age is worse than the whole past of human history?
