PoliticsBuruji Kashamu Blasts His Bossom Friend, Gov Ayodele Fayose. by wengerjay(op):
The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu has urged Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose “to stop the needless mudslinging against the wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari and face the allegations against him”.

In a statement he issued in Abuja today, Kashamu likened Fayose’s attempt to link Mrs Buhari with the Halliburton scandal as a “needless distraction and an amateurish shadow-boxing. His action could be taken for a drowning man clutching at a straw”.

The statement reads in part, “It is interesting that Mr. Fayose is talking about the rule of law and the need to do things within the ambit of the law. I never knew that he has ever heard of the concept of the Rule of Law. When he trampled on other people’s rights in a bid to abrogate their tenure in office where was the Rule of Law? Now he is crying out because he is afraid he might have to get a taste of his own medicine because a man must certainly reap whatever he sows.

“Mr. Fayose is talking about the fact that he enjoys immunity under the law. If I may ask: can a governor who disobeys the law with reckless abandon seek protection under the law? You cannot say because immunity covers you, you should not be investigated if you are suspected to have benefitted from the funds that were meant to buy arms for the protection of Nigerians.

I think it is high time that we, as a people and government, address the issue of people committing crimes and hiding under the immunity clause.”

The statement further added, “Fayose must stop chasing shadows and address the allegations against him. It is preposterous that he suddenly remembered that someone was involved in the Halliburton scandal at exactly the same time that he is being investigated over the funds he allegedly collected from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

“The questions are: Was he a beneficiary of the ONSA funds? Is it true that over N300million was frozen in three accounts traced to him? Were suspicious cash deposits made into the accounts in 2014, in clear violation of the Money Laundering Act and other enabling laws?

“It is said that you can fool some people all of the time but you cannot fool all the people all of the time. Nigerians can now see that what is playing out is a confirmation of my earlier position that the loudest among us are not necessarily the most pious. If he is being asked questions about his campaign funds, he should be bold enough to give explanations without necessarily casting aspersion on anyone. He should allow necessary investigations to go on unimpeded.

That will not only help to prove his innocence or otherwise but could possibly boost his rating. He could even choose to waive his immunity to aid the investigation if he does not have anything to hide. Immunity does not preclude any public officer even a governor from explaining how he funded his election campaign or the source (s) of deposits made into his account (s).

“The reality that Mr. Fayose must come to terms with is that the allegations against him are too grave to be sidelined for a seemingly spurious allegation against the wife of the president. Months of workers’ salaries are yet to be paid in Ekiti State; development partners have abandoned state, just as families are languishing as a result of his ill-advised political scheming.

“This current campaign of calumny and juvenile tantrums cannot sweep the issue of corruption under the carpet; neither can it kick enough dirt to make any right-thinking Nigerian to shut his or her eyes to the truth.

This is not about party affiliation or dog eating dog. It is about the plundering of our commonwealth and there should be no sacred cows in the fight against corruption. This is a fight that all patriotic Nigerians should lend their weight without any primordial sentiments or prejudicehttp://nigeria.shafaqna.com/EN/NG/2732408

Christianity EtcAnxiety In Akure As President Of Ogboni Fraternity In Nigeria Dies. by wengerjay(op): 10:51am On Jun 20, 2016
Akure – ‎TRADITIONALISTS across the country weekend converged on Akure, the Ondo state capital for the burial of the President of the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity (ROF) in Nigeria, Chief Araba Ajemoju.

However, his death and burial ‎elicited anxiety as there were rumours that many people especially strangers would be killed as rituals for the burial of the late traditionalist.

‎He was buried on Saturday at his residence located at Araromi area of Akure after public procession by other traditionalists.

‎The rumour went round the town as all the streets in the state capital were deserted while the parks were closed to avoid travelers from coming in from outside the state.

Many resident stayed indoor through out the weekend while shops and commercial places were closed before 6pm since he died.

News went round the state capital that a curfew had been declared from 530am to 630pm and without checking it’s authenticity, resident obeyed it for fear of the unknown.

None native of the town were mostly affected as the rumour had it that strangers are to be used for the rituals.

The development also prevented many people from their normal businesses as many were scared.

Speaking on the development the Police Image Maker, Femi Joseph said the culture and tradition of the people should be respected, hence the need for people to co-operate with the
traditionalists.

Joseph however assured that the security of all the residents of the town would be guaranteed.

He added that lives would not be allowed to be lost, neither would there be crisis in the town despite the burialhttp://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/anxiety-akure-president-reformed-ogboni-fraternity-nigeria-dies-buried/

PoliticsMany Injured As Students, Police Clash In Ondo. by wengerjay(op): 3:33pm On Jun 19, 2016
Social activities were paralysed in Owo town, Ondo State on Sunday following a bloody clash between the students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo and men of the state police command.

According to an eyewitness, many people were injured while several vehicles were destroyed during the clash.

A student of the institution whose identity could not be confirmed as of press time was also allegedly shot by the police.

It was gathered that trouble started when a police patrol van hit some students of the institution and the policemen in the vehicle allegedly abandoned the student and ran away.

The development was said to have led the students to protest to the ‘B’ Division Police Station at Otapete area of the town.

It was also alleged that the policemen at the station, instead of attending to the protesting students, fired tear gas to disperse them. The action of the police reportedly angered the students, who destroyed vehicles parked inside the station with one of the students being shot.

The protesting students barricaded the Owo/Akure expressway, causing a gridlock that lasted for several hours.

Many areas in the town were also blocked as the students set up bonfires in many places, preventing residents from going out.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the students attacked and injured the Divisional Police Officer. He said the DPO was in a critical condition at the hospital.

Joseph said the students also attacked the police officers who were on duty when they stormed the station, adding that the students vandalised the parked vehicles inside the station despite the DPO’s call for calm.

He said, “The police vehicle that hit the students was not deliberate and it was a total lie that the driver abandoned the students because he immediately took the victims to a hospital and they are currently receiving treatment.”

The Vice President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Mr. Timileyin Ayenuro, called for the immediate removal of the DPO of ‘B’ Division Police Station for allegedly fuelling the crisis.

He explained that the students expected an apology from the police.

He also demanded the immediate release of the arrested students and warned the police to stop harassing the students of the institutionhttp://punchng.com/many-injured-students-police-ondo/

PoliticsNigerian Lawmakers Accused Of Gross Se*ual Misconduct In The US. by wengerjay(op): 6:13pm On Jun 16, 2016
Some Nigerian lawmakers of the green chambers have been accused of s*xually harassing some hotel workers in America as well as soliciting for prostitutes during an official visit.

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, has petitioned the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, accusing some members of the lower chamber of improper conduct, attempted r*pe and soliciting for prostitutes while on official trip to the US.

Nigerian Lawmakers Accused of Gross S*xual Misconduct in the United States...Read Shocking Details

But, the affected lawmakers have denied all the allegations and threatened to sue the ambassador and the US government for “character defamation and a calculated attempt to ridicule the National Assembly.

The Ambassador, in a letter dated June 9, 2016, addressed to Speaker Yakubu Dogara, exclusively obtained by New Telegraph, alleged that three members of the House namely: Hon. Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi), Hon. Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Hon. Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) had, on a recent visit to the United States for the International Visitor Leadership Program, brought disrepute to the parliament by soliciting for s*x from prostitutes and grabbing hotel housekeeper in a bid to molest.

Ten lawmakers were invited by the US government for the International Visitor Leadership Program held between April 7 and 13, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. They include: Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi (PDPNasarawa State), Danburam Abubakar Nuhu (APC-Kano State), Nkole Uko Ndukwe (PDP-Abia State), Rita Orji (PDPLagos State), Ayo Huliyat Omidiran (APC-Osun).

Entwistle’s letter reads: “It is with regret that I must bring to your attention the following situation.

"Ten members of the Nigerian National Assembly recently travelled to Cleveland, Ohio as participants in the International Visitor Leadership Programme on good governance. We received troubling allegations regarding the behaviour of three members of the delegation to the U.S. Government’s flagship professional exchange programme.

“The U.S. Department of State and the Cleveland Council on World Affairs received reports from employees of the Cleveland hotel where the representatives stayed, alleging the representatives engaged in the following behaviour: “Mohammed Garba Gololo allegedly grabbed a housekeeper in his hotel room and solicited her for s*x."

While the housekeeper reported this to her management, this incident could have involved local law enforcement and resulted in legal consequences for Representative Gololo. “Mark Terseer Gbillah and Samuel Ikon allegedly requested hotel parking attendants assist them to solicit prostitutes.”

Entwistle said the US government made efforts to authenticate these allegations. His words: “The U.S. Mission took pains to confirm these allegations and the identities of the individuals with the employees of the hotel in Cleveland.

The conduct described above left a very negative impression of Nigeria, casting a shadow on Nigeria’s National Assembly, the International Visitor Leadership Program, and to the American hosts’ impression of Nigeria as a whole. “Such conduct could affect some participants’ ability to travel to the United States in the future.”

Meanwhile, some of the indicted lawmakers have denied the grave allegations against themhttp://stellanaija.com.ng/nigerian-lawmakers-accused-of-gross-sxual-misconduct-in-the-united-states-read-shocking-details/
