On a lighter note, it seems one can have a fairly good idea about a person's character thru their post(s).

Lagos AC is supposed to have been concluded this last friday. Do not have any idea if PH AC would commence tomorrow.
I believe it is best we wait till the end of July or first week of august before we start sharing experiences. The guy seems to given us consistent timing...because we were also told to expect the results PH interview is concluded. He said, two weeks for Abj, Three for Lag and Two/Three for PH(wasn't specific about the PH) = approx three months from the first week the AC commenced. I had mine in Lag 6th July....but I don't know if it was the last week in Lag or if this coming week will be the last week in Lag.
Also, there is a one week break btw the lag and ph ACs.

Wow. This is not good o. It's well.

Good job by the way.
Those being concerned about things they can't control are just getting unnecessarily worked up based on speculations. Let's just be patient and pray that we are contacted when they start calling peps.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves forming mind games. If you not so bothered about these hints, why asking in the first place. Its true NLNG is not a do-or-die affair but I tell you, many people are here to get the offer letter first atleast, for themselves...not on your behalf o.

Shey NLNG don send everybody mail on expectations...if you like, say the full story of your NLNG here, na you or na you nor sabi. . . Just know that hundreds haven't done theirs yet. And don't be deceived, you are competing both against NLNG standards and against other applicants. Yes, there is what we call healthy competition. NLNG ain't going to absorb everybody. That is sure banker. They would pick the best performers that meet their standards up to the number of trainees they need. Its just common sense. Let's stop forming over-sense here. If offer letters are sent, na only those wey receive go move o. Nobody go attach your name to him own make una gather go. You don't go put yourself unnecessarily under disadvantage. I did it b4, when my guys get offer, I was strictly on my own then...but b4 their interview after I had done mine, I was their best friend. cheesy
well said

Plz house do NDDC really sponsor non core engineering courses. I need an honest answer to dis course I applied for Msc in info tech related field
I might be wrong but I don't think anyone can give u an accurate answer. If it was under the list of approved disciplines per the nddc scholarship requirement, then I done see any reason why they won't give you if you are successful overall.

It is important that we never condone corruption - not even in our thoughts by secretly wishing we knew 'people' or envying friends that know 'people'. And those of us that will be in positions of authority/power tomorrow must remember days like these, and never bow to the pressure of nepotism or favoritism for they are the relatives of corruption. We might not be in power yet but let's make conscious effort to dislike such traits, and when we are in power it will be easier to fight evil. If we can do this Nigeria will become a better place. #forabetternigeria#

I don't think anyone should share any question that was asked. It is simply not proper! Later you people(asking for 'sharing') will say naija is bad. Little things like this matters. Just prep to ur best and pray.

Am not telling u what I got from a source, am giving info based on what I saw with my two eyes(technically four eyes-vis I use glasses, lol). D Interview carries more marks. Anyways, it doesn't matter as long as one is successful.

What do you mean by no technical reading will help at this time? So we should not study?
What I mean is that the probability they ask you something you will read in this short timeframe is less than 1%. Say u read engineering 5 years, they could a question from any area in ur 5 years study, or even after the five years...as long as they feel u should know the answer.

Well I have had my interview. Like has been said earlier get all ur documents set with photocopies of each of them. All the documents required are listed in the text invite for the interview. If u don't have a first leaving school certificate (for people like me that didn't attend primary school, lol) then go with ur birth certificate and waec- they cover for the flsc. Errhm...dress well. Both ladies and guys. Heard dressing counts. Peps had to borrow jacket and ties sef. So carry ur own. The current affairs questions were really really really random. So were the technical questions too. My thought is that no technical reading will make any difference right now. On the average they seem to ask each applicants three or four questions.
Ehn ehn, the tfare is 5k not ten. I collect am like that sha.
Then based on some document I saw(as a sharp Delta guy) the interview and cbt both contribute to the final score. The interview has more weight tho.
The stuff is really competitive and a lot of things seem to be coincidental. So regardless of how the interview goes, don't loose hope. I no this sounds cliche but a bit of prayer should help.
Success peps!
I forgot to say this earlier. Two passports are needed.

Really? It does not make any sense. If it is like that when writing a test or an exam anybody can just appear saying whatever they want. That is why there are measures to check external candidates or someone writing on behalf of another. If your name was not in the list then you should not be allowed to write.
I have learnt that when you are in a system, it does not pay to criticize that system. I understand your point and actually think it's accurate...but wetin man go do. Them done write am, them done write am. Just focus on interview.

So far, from what I have read on nairaland it seems most of the peps that gets the scholarship were prospective students of UK schools.
Am wondering if NDDC has a bias towards UK schools or applicants with a one-year master program course. Your responses will be appreciated.

Hi Y'all, bk in lagos, work as usual. Now d test was aite by God's grace. I helped d bro besyd me with his Maths cuz he was 4 geology n had no Mathematical background. In all it was kul. I recall;
1. When did Nigeria become a Republic?1963
2. A Maths question on soldiers, heights, = The answer was 4
3. A question on jelly beans, D ans was 0.892 or so can't recall d exact no
4. -3^2= -9
5. One dt gave me 24153
6. One on distance dt had 180,000 as d answer.

This is what is called 'expo'! And 'expo' is wrong. Be it on a small piece of paper or on nairaland. In case you didn't know, people are still writing today. This message you probably posted on a whim is only going to ensure that overall cut off mark will be higher. Regardless of the fact that you got 38 you don't seem like a smart person!

Got to the embassy @ 5.30am from egbeda for a 6.30 appointment.
After normal checks and thumb print.
Interview goes thus @ counter 5.
A white old man
VO-goodmorning
Me-goodmorning sir
VO-why UCO
Me-according to my research on usnews.com UCO is ranked one of the top public universities with top ranked professors in America, they have a detailed study plan which suits my academic goals and there class sizes averaging from 20 to 25 students which makes it easier to communicate with the professor.they have excellent faculty and reseacrh opportunites.they have a research group in my major called the computational science for undergraduate research experiences which inspired inspired most to choose it and I was also offered a scholarship.
VO-how many schools did you apply to
Me-i applied to 3schools altogether, uni of minnesota, uni of nebraska and university of central oklahoma.
VO-how many admitted you.
Me-2 admitted me and uni of minnesota placed me on a waitlist.
VO-what is your last qualification and when did you finish.
Me-National Diploma and I finished 2013
VO-what have you been doing since then?
Me-I work voluntary as a computer instructor in XYZ computer institute to meet the requirement of my mandatory industrial training.
VO-typed on his system forever (I think for 4mins)and says sorry you are not eligible for this....didn't listen to rest.
Smiled while he also smiled...
To me this Visa application of a thing just depends on favor. From people's transcript, I see that some people are not even asked for all the necessary documents and granted the visa, while others who present all their required documents are rejected. It is too unpredictable...the best is just to get all your documents and pray that God grants one favor.
I think you should reapply anyways.

Thanks guys for your support, do u guys think TOEFL is simpler than GRE
Toefl is easier than GRE. It does not require as much preparation for GRE does. I will advise you to prepare for GRE properly then you would covered preparation for Toefl too. The only thing left in your Toefl preparation will be getting used to the question format Toefl uses.

The bolded is not true.
Admissions committees doesn't give concessions because you're from Africa.
That's why as an African applicant you have to package your application well. If you know what I mean by packaging.
Or else, lack of experience will send your application into the garbage bin.
Bros, I almost became defensive when I saw the not true comment. I have friends that got admission into respectable engineering schools and had no engineering experience work-wise.
Anyways I meant it ll be given lesser consideration than the other admission documents, especially if it has not been too long that you finished your undergraduate study.

My ogas. Thanks for everything. I would continue asking questions, since this forum gives adequate answers.

Okay Walspring Edbid Horayce.... I am late for spring admissions; i have not written the GRE (Nov 28) and TOELF. So i guess i have to plan for FALL 2015 ?

Is the fall an ideal time to seek admission?

Also, Guys, i have been doing my homework; you hear schools asking for research work and work experience( i have like 5 months of that, but no research except a UG project). Hope my chances are not bleak?

Lastly, advice on choosing between a research based grad program or a non-thesis program? i am in a quandary.

Thanks God Bless.
This is an ideal time to apply for fall as ur application would be considered an early one.
About the research and work experience part, it depends on the course u are applying for - some schools will be stricter on d work experience and research than others.
I personally think graduate schools don't expect much from African students in work experience because they are aware we don't always have opportunities to work.in our related fields. Just get a great score in ur Gre and apply to any school that offers ur course and that u Meet their requirements. The project is good enough research experience, in my opinion. Success.

Hi guys, I just gained admission for an engineering msc program in d usa. So the next step for me is to get an I20 from the school. As non of my family members have d 7 million bucks in their bank account I think I have to use the bank statement of a non-relative. What are d odds of me.being successful in getting my I20 and ultimately a student visa using a non relative bank statement? And I want to defer my admission from spring 2015 to fall 2015 mainly due to financial reasons - can I tell the school that that's why am deferring? Thanks guys!
