cr8v: Op please study the difference between magic and miracles. These are no miracles. The problem I have with the Roman church is that everything about Christianity was turned upside down and sold to Islam who took it a step further. Check the miracles Jesus and the apostles did in the Bible none look anything like these fables called miracles their miracles were directed to human needs and to draw people to God

please can u explain how a body remains INTACT as much as 129 years? There is ABSOLUTELY no scientific explanation to this. As such it can only be called a MIRACLE. Whether it is associated with the catholic church or not

But to think of it, why are the major miracles all linked to the catholic church? Either it is a scam by the catholic church or the catholic church is closest to God?

for me i will go with the latter as the Bible and history suggest so

Politics / Eye Witness Account Of Nigerian Soldiers Burning NIGERIAN BRT Buses by Werehkpe: 10:10pm On Jul 05, 2014
First, an apology: I am sorry for all the times when despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, I have tried to give the Nigerian Army the benefit of the doubt.

When satellite images released by Human Rights Watch showed the destruction in Bama last year after soldiers razed over 2000 homes, I still gave the benefit of the doubt. “What if we are wrong? Let’s support our military!” I told people.

I was touched but did not care much about the 32-year old fisherman interviewed by Human Rights Watch who said, “We had heard the soldiers say before the attack that since you people are not cooperating with us and are hiding your brothers, we will treat you as one of them. Everyone heard them say this. They were saying it in the open.”

That man lost his uncle who had a bad leg and could not escape when soldiers attacked and burnt the houses after a Boko Haram attack. But I still tried to make excuses.

Even when my Twitter friend, Salihu TankoYakasai (@dawisu) shared stories in April last year, claiming that soldiers in Kano have turned into “an even deadlier enemy than Boko Haram… and had become human exterminators,” I silently accused him of exaggerating. Somewhere in my mind, Bama and Maiduguri and Kano… were all too far for me.

In the last few months, I have become more critical of the army. After their ridiculous lie that they had released the abducted Chibok girls, and the back story which led to the mutiny at the Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, I knew my support could no longer be unconditional. I began to take anything the army said with a pinch of salt.

Today, I saw firsthand the Nigerian Army in action in Lagos… I have never seen anything like it in my life.

A soldier was knocked down and killed by a BRT bus in Lagos. Soldiers in army green stormed Ikorodu road where the buses ply and first thing they did was to close the road from Palmgrove where the accident reportedly happened. The closure immediately caused a massive traffic gridlock. But that was just the beginning.

The soldiers began attacking BRT buses on the road. They vandalised the buses, broke the glasses and windscreens, and deflated the tyres. I got a call about the incident and immediately went to see for myself.

READ: Breaking: Soldiers Unleash Mayhem On Ikorodu Road; Vandalise And Burn BRT Buses (Photos)

READ: These Are Photos Of Just Four Of The BRT Buses Set Ablaze By Soldiers Today

The first scene that greeted me at Palmgrove was a journalist being viciously beaten by the soldiers. “Please I’m a journalist,” he kept saying, pleading with them. They did not care – a female soldier led that attack. The offence of that journalist was that he was bold enough to take photos of the vandalised buses. His ipad was seized and he was so badly brutalised that he had to be rushed to the hospital.

Soldiers demanded that Nigerian civilians passing along Palmgrove raise their two hands in the air, as though we are in a war situation. No one was permitted to hold his phone in his hand or receive a call. Not even those driving-by in their cars were spared. A young soldier slapped a man making a call inside a bus because he disobeyed an order he was not even aware of.

Things got even worse. Some of the onlookers told me that a senior officer came by and directed the soldiers on ground to burn the parked buses. I did not see that officer but I saw soldiers as they went into two nearby petrol filling stations, ordered the attendant to fill some kegs with petrol and carry it to a spot where one of the buses was parked. I watched as soldiers got into the bus and emptied the keg of fuel inside it right there by the side. Then they struck a match and it was in flames.

On either side of that burning bus, there was massive traffic and cars (including fuel tankers) were moving slowly. The soldiers did not care and commuters prayed as they moved past. They did not even have the luxury of turning back as the road was blocked.

wpid-img-20140704-00383.jpg

I was there when a Peugeot car with a tinted glass and plate number NA-911934 arrived the scene and two young-looking officers stepped out. I do not know much about army ranks but a friend by my side saw their stars and cap and told me that one was a captain and the other a Lt-Colonel. I went close to see if I could get their names but they had removed their name tags of course. The other officers recognised the presence of their bosses with the usual greeting as the two men strutted calmly away from my spot.

I am sharing the entry of those officers because some people are currently trying to frame this story on social media as though it was something that was done by a few “disgruntled” soldiers in the rank and file. That is not and cannot be true. Those soldiers could not have been so bold to stay there for over 5 hours and all that time, there was not a call from their superiors asking them to desist. All of Lagos had heard the news, yet people who push this theory of a “few disgruntled soldiers” want us to believe that the bosses had not heard and could do nothing. That’s illogical!

At the Palmgrove bus stop, four BRT buses were parked, just in front of the MRS filling station. I saw a female soldier shout, “We suppose start one smoke from there.” I reached her and said, “Aunty please I beg, this is so close to the filling station, it might cause an explosion.” She couldn’t believe what she was hearing from this small, uniformless person: “If I send you slap ehn. Gerraway from here,” she told me, and I ‘gorrawayed.’

The soldiers got petrol, emptied it inside the middle bus and set it on fire. Before long, the four buses were on fire.

wpid-20140704_105919.jpg

I and a few friends wanting to know the exact spot the incident happened, went to speak with security men guarding the entrance into the Palmgrove estate. They told us that they did not know what happened but that all of a sudden they saw a crowd rushing into their estate (the crowd was being chased by soldiers.) The guards quickly rushed to close the gates against the onrushing crowd. Apparently the soldiers believed that the BRT drivers had run into the estate and the guards were attempting to close the gates to shield them. They beat up the three elderly guards. One of them told us he had pains on his arms and legs, the other was still in shock, the last one was in the hospital.

We immediately left for the Ultima Medicare Clinic at 2A Cappa Avenue, Palmgrove where the third guard was admitted but we were denied entrance. According to them, “Chairman says it is an internal matter.”

By 1pm, when I left the scene, the soldiers were still there, most of them now seated in their Hilux vans with “OP MESA” written on them, others controlling the traffic, others seizing cameras, and others pushing back onlookers. Their colleague had died (some people I spoke to said the dead soldier was supposed to get married tomorrow and some said he was a colonel; I don’t believe either). Either way, he was gone. His colleagues will never see him again, but as I left, I noticed a group of soldiers, huddled together, laughing – it’s been a good day’s job. They had put the ‘fear of god in hapless civilians.’

On a final note, as I was writing this, I saw an update from Musiliu Obanikoro, the minister of state for defence (who was not at the scene), saying he has been briefed by the chief of army staff (who was not on the scene) that “some thugs in the area took advantage of the incident to wreak havoc and the military has taken necessary steps to restore peace and forestall further breakdown of law and order.” Obanikoro knows that he is lying, but he won’t stop – it’s just how they roll. Before there is even an investigation, there is already a cover-up.

I know that there are a few good men in our military and I thank them for all the times they have discharged their duties with uprightness and professionalism. But all over the country, it is now clear that there are certainly more lawless men in our army than responsible individuals. An army that believes in jungle justice is a perversion. The Army I saw today was not that glorious army which we used to rave about when they go on foreign missions and who people say are the most professional on the continent. The army I saw was a gang of buccaneers, a vicious rampaging locust-like evil on green that should be utterly ashamed of itself and that is in much need of a reform. But I am not hopeful.

Sports / Between The Midfielders Of France And Nigeria – Pogba, Matuidi And Mikel , Onazi by Werehkpe: 11:18am On Jun 30, 2014
Monday will see France take on Nigeria in the Round of 16 at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and we look at the midfield of both countries and who is likely to carry the day.

A look at the Nigerian midfield shows a hard working midfield that is suspect to slow recovery and a lack of pace. At least thats what the records show so far. The Nigerian midfield compensates for this “deficiency” by slowing down the tempo of the game to almost a walking pace while trying to dictate the game with occasional bursts of speed to surprise their opponents.

For France, it is the direct opposite. They seem more comfortable playing with 90 minutes of pace and attacking intent as compared to the “docile” appearance of the Nigerian midfield.

A concern for the Nigerian midfield seems to be their love of giving away balls in midfield. Against Argentina and Bosnia and Herzegovina they lost several balls in the midfield particularly in the second half of these two matches. This brings me back to a third characteristic of the Nigerian midfielders which is stamina. They always seem to tire out faster than their opponents. This could take its toll on the pair of Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi who have both played 270 minutes each – thats every single minute of all Nigeria’s three matches at this World Cup.

For France, Didier Deschamps has shuffled his midfield more. With Blaise Matuidi, Paul Pogba and Moussa Sissoko all playing 247, 174 and 213 respectively. They will have a fresher midfield against Nigeria that is almost for certain.

When it comes to winning aerial balls, the Nigeria midfield seems to be just as good as any secondary school football side.

However, the good news for Nigeria is the fact that they have a more defensive effective midfield. The pair of Onazi and Mikel have both won 30% and 43% of the tackle they have gone into. For France, Pogba is their only midfielder who comes close to making commendable tackles. He has won 40% of his tackles. All other French midfielders have won far less than 30% of their tackles.

But when it comes to going forward and attacking, the French midfield seems to be like a moving train. Matuidi and Pogba have each made 83% successful moves forward. This explains the high number of goals France has scored so far. Valbuena has also been exceptional going forward with an almost 100% success rate. For Nigeria, Onazi seems to be the key in going forward. He has made close to 100% successful moves forward while Mikel has managed a 64% success rate.

When it comes to winning aerial balls, the Nigeria midfield seems to be just as good as any secondary school football side. The midfield pair of Onazi and Mikel have won only a combined 19% of their aerial battles. For France the pair of Pogba and Matuidi have won a combined impressive 62% of their aerial battles.

Another thing unravelled is the zeal with which the French midfield contributes to their attack. They have created 2 assists and scored 3 goals. Assists were by Pogba and Valbuena while goals were scored by Matuidi, Sissoko and Valbuena. For Nigeria, the midfield can boast of no goal and only one assist from Babatunde. Unfortunately he (Babatunde) will not be featuring against France – no thanks to a sprained right hand.

Importantly, unlike the French forward line, the Nigerian forward helps a lot in defensive duties with the likes of Osaze Odemwengie and Ahmed Musa winning a combined 42% of the tackles they have made in the midfield.

Again, unlike Nigeria who have faced the top opposition from Argentina in the group stages, France has not really been tested by any strong opposition with all due respect to Switzerland, Honduras and Ecuador.

So Monday’s important clash will see two sides playing almost opposite football styles – one side attacking with pace like on a football video game and the other slowing down the pace and picking out the right moments to launch an attack like a chess master.

So the questions now are how will France’s Le Bleus cope with the physical Nigeria side that will take the pace out of the game and how will Nigeria’s Super Eagles cope against a pacey attack minded French side?

Both questions surely will be answered in the next 24 hours at the Estadio Nacional de Brasilia.

Religion / Here Is Your Evidence To Show Jesus Was Not Really Born On Dec 25? by Werehkpe: 2:15am On Dec 24, 2013
History convincingly shows that Dec. 25 was popularized as the date for Christmas, not because Christ was born on that day but because it was already popular in pagan religious celebrations as the birthday of the sun.

But is it possible that December 25 could be the day of Christ's birth?
"Lacking any scriptural pointers to Jesus's birthday, early Christian teachers suggested dates all over the calendar. Clement. . . picked November 18. Hippolytus . . . figured Christ must have been born on a Wednesday . . . An anonymous document[,] believed to have been written in North Africa around A.D. 243, placed Jesus's birth on March 28" (Jeffery Sheler, U.S. News & World Report, "In Search of Christmas," Dec. 23, 1996, p. 58).

A careful analysis of Scripture, however, clearly indicates that Dec. 25 is an unlikely date for Christ's birth. Here are two primary reasons:
First, we know that shepherds were in the fields watching their flocks at the time of Jesus' birth (Luke 2:7-cool. Shepherds were not in the fields during December. According to Celebrations: The Complete Book of American Holidays, Luke's account "suggests that Jesus may have been born in summer or early fall. Since December is cold and rainy in Judea, it is likely the shepherds would have sought shelter for their flocks at night" (p. 309).

Similarly, The Interpreter's One-Volume Commentary says this passage argues "against the birth [of Christ] occurring on Dec. 25 since the weather would not have permitted" shepherds watching over their flocks in the fields at night.

Second, Jesus' parents came to Bethlehem to register in a Roman census (Luke 2:1-4). Such censuses were not taken in winter, when temperatures often dropped below freezing and roads were in poor condition. Taking a census under such conditions would have been self-defeating.

Given the difficulties and the desire to bring pagans into Christianity, "the important fact then . . . to get clearly into your head is that the fixing of the date as December 25th was a compromise with paganism" (William Walsh, The Story of Santa Klaus, 1970, p. 62).

If Jesus Christ wasn't born on December 25, does the Bible indicate when He was born?
The biblical accounts point to the fall of the year as the most likely time of Jesus' birth, based on the conception and birth of John the Baptist.
Since Elizabeth (John's mother) was in her sixth month of pregnancy when Jesus was conceived (Luke 1:24-36), we can determine the approximate time of year Jesus was born if we know when John was born. John's father, Zacharias, was a priest serving in the Jerusalem temple during the course of Abijah (Luke 1:5). Historical calculations indicate this course of service corresponded to June 13-19 in that year
( The Companion Bible, 1974, Appendix 179, p. 200).

It was during this time of temple service that Zacharias learned that he and his wife Elizabeth would have a child (Luke 1:8-13). After he completed his service and traveled home, Elizabeth conceived (Luke 1:23-24). Assuming John's conception took place near the end of June, adding nine months brings us to the end of March as the most likely time for John's birth. Adding another six months (the difference in ages between John and Jesus) brings us to the end of September as the likely time of Jesus' birth.

Religion / Re: Christmas Is Idolatrous And Unscriptural - Pastor Kumuyi by Werehkpe: 1:56am On Dec 24, 2013
Danhumprey: It's a pagan tradition,no doubt. For one,we don't know exactly when Jesus was born. We only give speculation about the day we think he was born, which may not be true. It shouldn't be about celebrating December 25th,rather it should be about celebrating Jesus.

Is there anything wrong in picking out ONE day in the year to celebrate the day the Christ was born? Whether that day is the exact day or not is irrelevant. What is relevant is that ONE day 25th Dec has been "selected" and accepted worldwide as the day our Christ was born. So you have to live with this fact.

Another thing I notice is we are just myopic and refuse to read and do simple research. Read and you will understand how the day 25th was derived cus it wasnt just selected randomly.

This is expected cause there are more people right handed than left handed. Its a general tendency to turn to the right (if u are right hand oriented) and to the left if you are left handed.

This is also why right handed people will look to the right of the screen when watching a dance group. They see and focus more on people on the right of the screen

Obviously many people dont read their Bibles but i will help you out here

MATT 16:16 says

16 Simon Peter replied, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar- Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."[/b]

From the above it is obvious the Key to Heaven was handed to Peter who ended up being the first Pope of the Catholic Church (u can check even wikipedia for this fact). By extension, it means the Popes have been handed the keys into Heaven. It also means that God gave power to the catholic church to bind and loose things both in Heaven and in hell

Why didnt Jesus say "you are Chris Okotie and upon this rock I will build my church?" Lets not get carried away by men saying God instructed them to found churches. All the reference we need is in the Bible. SO READDDDDDDDDDDD

Catholics DO NOT WORSHIP Mary. Thats a falacy and the height of ignorance to think this.

What Catholics do is to honour her as the mother of Jesus and by the existence of the Holy Trinity she is the mother of God.
Catholics also ask her to intercede for our prayers. this is logical and similar to the idea of talking to your friend to talk to his father who is a minister so you can get favoured and win a contract. Nothing wrong with this.

The first time such an intercession occured was at the wedding at Canaan when Jesus turned water into wine at the INTERCESSION of Mary.

About incense and prayer to the saints, read Revelation 5:8 And i quote

"And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty- four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying"

If incense can be used in Heaven what stops us from using same on earth? Again, if praying to the saints is wrong, how is it possible that a GOLDEN BOWL OF INCENSE FULL WITH PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS is found in Heaven.

We need to really study the Bible like its a medical textbook and stop jumping on conclusions.

Thank you all for your responses.

Please dont get me wrong. She is an amazing woman and yes i love her very much.

The fact is weda I am dating or married to her she is exhibiting traits I don't like and i doubt i can live with. My fear is that like someone insinuated, this is likely to get more pronounced if i get married to her.

I dint say she cant cook o (though I dont know if she really can). I just said she doesnt like cooking cus she is hardly at home and she says she doesnt like eating what she cooks etc. To me this are flimsy excuses and is turning out to be a major issue. I dont want my kids growing up not knowing what "home cooking" is about. Besides, I do not subscribe to another woman other than my wife preparing meals for the family.

I do know no one is perfect but i do appreciate someone making an effort to change. For instance, she has reduced her alcohol drinking, she has reduced occurrences of raising her voice. Thats very commendable. Thats improvement. But again like a friend suggested she may be making these changes on a temporary bases just to get to my heart. I dont want to think this though cus she is an honest person. Not the type to deceive. If she was the deceitful type, am sure she would not have shown me her sides i dont like

I really dont want to leave her - Thats the truth. BUT at the same time, i need to think with my head rather than my heart. Hence my confusion
Romance / Confusion About What To Do In A Relationship. Should I Propose Or End It by Werehkpe: 12:10am On Nov 29, 2013
Hello,

I am a 33 year old man and in a relationship with a girl who is 32. I am seriously considering getting married to her next year but I am concerned with a couple of attitudes/issues about her

1. She doesnt cook often: I have complained about this to her several times and each time i do, it ends in a quarrel. She always says she loves cooking yet she seems to eat out more often than she cooks at home. Then she says she doesn't see the need to cook since she is rarely at home. By the way she is a banker working in Lagos. On one occasion i visited her, i had to clean her cooker cus is was so dirty like it had not been cleaned in months. I even had to wash the dishes cus she did not before she went off to work at 6am which is understandable. She also says she doesnt cook cus she doesnt like eating what she cooks.

I remember asking her once why she doesnt cook often and she said "she feels she has paid her dues."
Again she once asked her neighbour in my presence if she could give her money to cook soup for her

2. She Seems Lazy: When I first met her early this year. She was not doing any house cleaning herself. Rather she had someone coming to do her sweeping and mopping etc. After much complaining from me which ofcourse resulted in several heated arguments, she started doing some of the house chores herself. Which is commendable.

3. Argues A Lot: Each time we get into an argument she is never willing to back down. So we end up arguing for hours up to the extent that we lose track of what started the argument in the first place. Then she says "She likes to trash out issues right there and then." For me i see this as a lack of respect. I'll rather discuss an issue than "trash it out"

She once told me during an argument that i talk trash. Though she later denied it. Perhaps i heard wrongly but really thats the kind of thing she could say when she is angry.

4. Raises Her Voice At Me: She once used to raise her voice at me each time we got into an argument. After much arguing and fighting; to be fair and honest, she has reduced the occurrence of this. Although I still have to tell her to calm down when we get into an argument. I thought it is usually the woman telling the man to calm down and not the other way round

5. Salient Issues: She takes alot of alcohol. Personally, I dont like this and I have confronted her on this as well. Once again she has drastically reduced this which i am happy about though she still drinks occasionally.

I love this girl so so much but I dont think I can cope with these attitudes explained in brief above. Really, she is pretty, intelligent, tall and strict which means she will bring her kids up well. She is also God fearing and a virgin BUT I really want to take my time and see if she will change for the better.

She told me once "think with your head not with your heart." If i think with my heart, i will go ahead and propose to her and get married immediately. But if i think with my head, I will either call the relationship an end or wait and see if she will change and conform to what I want.

Only this week she said "I am standing at her door and dont want to come in but I am also blocking other people from entering."
And that got me thinking.

If I end the relationship NOW based on the fact that am not yet convinced she will change and adhere to what I tell her (as explained above), I would have saved her time and mine and given her a chance to have a go at another relationship. I would have allowed other people to enter.

On the other hand, if I stay in the relationship for months hoping she changes and she ends up not changing, I will eventually have to end the relationship. But this will mean I would have wasted her time and mine

Please ooooo. I need your candid adviceS. Should I stay or end this relationship now? Please what should I do?
