Politics › Re: Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake Hits Off West Coast of Africa: USGS by wesley80(m): 1:37pm On Apr 10, 2012
chromatin: Are u all stupid or playing dumb... Earth quakes is partly due to rapid contraction of the earth due too reduced cushioning of the heat from the magma of the earth core... No region is exempt from experience an earthquake, it all depends on the level of protection the solid part of the earth has from the hot molten magma in the earth core. A layer of water, crude oil, and gas protects the earth crust from rapidly expanding
from the heat of the core such rapid expansion results in earthquakes. Areas with such low levels of protection are very vulnerable that is why the U.S warned the Govt of Haiti at the time before the earth quake hit them to stop all oil drilling and excavation because the solid earth in that country was very thin and reducing the volume of oil layer beneath would result in catastrophic effects which the Haitian Govt proved deaf ear too. Africa or any other region is not exempt from the occurrence of earth quakes...
Sorry but you actually sound pretty dumb yourself. Hear this and hear it well
1) Oil extraction has got absolutely nothing to do with earthquakes, that's except perhaps you've got some new research that proves otherwise
2) Molten "magma" have got nothing to do with earthquakes - at least not in the way u put it.
3) And YES some countries and regions are immune from suffering earthquakes.
Politics › Re: Magnitude 5.8 Earthquake Hits Off West Coast of Africa: USGS by wesley80(m): 11:38am On Apr 10, 2012
The possibility of an earthquake striking close to home is remote and vitually impossible though we might suffer from minor effect of a tsunami but all in all, even the effect of that should be minimal considering how far off we are except there's one of gargantuan proportion. Eathquakes only occur along well mapped faultlines (see map at 2.bp..com/_ypalM7eSBEQ/SdzT_ajylVI/AAAAAAAAAbM/XNB1-z6lvKg/s1600-h/tectonic_map.jpg) which Ngr and most of Africa are thankfully away from and a number of factors including our soil type reduces our succeptibility to such tremors and ground collapses like we see elsewhere. I guess that's why the Bible mentions such a thing as "Habitable part of the earth"!

Politics › Re: Why We Sacked PHCN Chiefs - Nnaji by wesley80(op): 8:18am On Apr 10, 2012
As for the ex-HR Director, members of the general public who have ever complained about PHCN staff abuses; including extortion, embezzlement and corruption, are in the best position to judge the fidelity of the culture of staff discipline that this officer superintended. What is disheartening is that it was also not beyond this officer to keep on the payroll for 18 months, someone who was supposed to have retired while senior staff of PHCN lamented their stagnation at one grade level for years because of ‘no vacancy’.”
So at what point does a "crook" actually becomes a "crook" that should be made to answer for his crimes?
Politics › Why We Sacked PHCN Chiefs - Nnaji by wesley80(op): 8:10am On Apr 10, 2012
By Chineme Okafor The Minister of Power,
Prof. Bart Nnaji has thrown more lights on the recent retirement of three principal officers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and its successor company, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). Nnaji explained in a statement from his senior media aide in Abuja, Mr. Ogbuagu Anikwe, that the trio whose retirement was announced shortly after an emergency meeting with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of PHCN successor companies, were found to be have grossly flunked established code of conducts in discharge of their duties respectively. The affected officers were former CEO of TCN, Mr. Akunwunmi Bada, former Executive, PHCN Market Operations, Mr. Uzoma Achinaya and former Executive Director, Human Resources of PHCN, Mr. Olushoga Muyiwa.
Nnaji said incessant complaints by members of PHCN workers union including the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) about discriminatory payments of the 50 percent salary increase ultimately led to Achinaya’s poor performance rating, while Bada’s lack of detailed information as to the cause of the second successive explosion in TCN’s Benin transmission station was responsible for his sack. Muyiwa, the former HR Director in PHCN, was alleged to keep a scheduled retiring senior officer in the utility on the payroll of PHCN for 18 months running and other far-reaching issues that include extortion, embezzlement and corruption on the part of PHCN staff.
The statement, which was in response to protests by NUEE for the reinstatement of Bada, Achinaya and Muyiwa who had since been replaced by Mr. Shola Akinniranye as new TCN helmsman and Mr. Evarestus Mogbo as the Executive Director, Market Operation, also warned the labour union to avoid fanning up situations that could lead to further disclosure of underhand dealings by the trio. “NUEE executives should see beyond their noses. The Hon. Minister had before now publicly acknowledged the technical abilities of Engr. Uzoma Achinanya and Engr. Akinwumi Bada, the two officers that were asked to proceed on retirement. He would have wished that Joe Ajaero (NUEE Executive Secretary) allowed them to enjoy their peaceful retirement. This is because protesting on their behalf would only go to expose issues and circumstances that would have the effect of tinting their hitherto sterling technical contributions to the nation,” the statement read in parts. The statement further explained: “Or is it possible that Ajaero and the NUEE leadership have forgotten how they ceaselessly dragged this officer to various fora, complaining that he was discriminating against the distribution companies by releasing salaries that failed to harmonise the unprecedented 50 percent salary increase that the unions extracted from government as one of the conditions to allow privatisation to go on? The union's incessant complaints about discriminatory payment of the 50 percent salary increase ultimately led to the officer's poor management rating.” It added: “As for the other officer, Nigerians are witnesses to two successive explosions which led to system collapse that plunged the nation into darkness in late March, The fact that the second explosion occurred within a week of the first, at the same place and time and under the same circumstances, exposes a lack of attention to detail for which someone in charge ought to be called to account. As for the ex-HR Director, members of the general public who have ever complained about PHCN staff abuses; including extortion, embezzlement and corruption, are in the best position to judge the fidelity of the culture of staff discipline that this officer superintended. What is disheartening is that it was also not beyond this officer to keep on the payroll for 18 months, someone who was supposed to have retired while senior staff of PHCN lamented their stagnation at one grade level for years because of ‘no vacancy’.” Again, Nnaji maintained that Ajaero was misleading the electricity workers in fulfillment of his selfish desires, adding that sometimes, technical ability does not translate to managerial ability and that Ajaero’s claim that the affected officers has nothing to do with power generation, distribution and transmission was an exposition of his depth of knowledge of the power sector. “It is laughable that Ajaero would suggest that majority of the officers affected by government's retirement have nothing to do with power generation, transmission and distribution. PHCN's sole business is power generation, transmission and distribution; any staff working for the company is engaged in any of the three, either as a core or as a support staff. Only someone like Ajaero would display this sort of ignorance about an organisation whose members he serves. It exposes why Ajaero has so far not allowed the union members to see that the privatisation of the public power supply organisation is for the good of everyone,” the statement adds.

^^ So what does a video posted by the " church" that actually proves TB Joshua mentioned a particular time period prove to you? Why would you see that as contradicting a personal statement from a "church member"?
Oh so he underwent a life saving operation last year and TB Joshua was among the team of surgeons that operasted on him and told him he had up to the first week of April to live? Hmmm interesting.

doctokwus: If his followers are bold enough;dey shd download a transcript or video of all his so called predictions& let's make a comparison of how many were off d mark
If u r bold enough and not some lazy kid, you'd do a search and view the countless number of his videos on youtube then come back here with your proof that one of his prophecies went off the mark. But just like those b4 u that have tried without finding any, I expect u to keep throwing stones at the air! Get real.

doctokwus: Wen Gabriel Okunzua was alive,he made more accurate predictions dan this man will ever dream of,but no body or himself calld him a god or did he use it to hoodwink pple into being joinin a church or financial benefit;but here a man wt his inner cycle of followers wants to exploit one incident;edit it to suit his desires& almost equate him to another Jesus. What on all those indulging in using this to gain followers for earthly, selfish gain
He calls himself a 'Prophet' of God and no one equates him to Jesus. If he's hoodwinking ppl into knowing Christ and living better lives then I think thats just honourable, financial gain? how? he has refused to establish branches which u and I know would be a goldmine if he desires considering that His church sits less than a % of his followers both locally and globally so what r u saying? And abt exploiting "one incident", u're dead wrong. Maybe this was the one that caught your attention but people have heard much greater including my humble self.

Nairaland General › Seun, Learn From This Simple Story by wesley80(op): 12:17pm On Apr 01, 2012
A favorite story of mine in my primary 4 'Brighter Grammar' went this way as i recall;
An old man and his son set out on a journey across a desert and took a donkey with them on which the Father decided to take the first ride. The first stranger they met took one look at them and shook his head saying 'what a wicked father this is, why ride on a donkey and leave your young son to walk the desert'? The old man embarrassed quickly climbed down and let his son ride while he walked. The next stranger they met too look at them and thot aloud 'what foolishness is this? Why would an old man walk while his young son takes a ride? Jolted, the old man decides to ride on the donkey along with his young son. The next traveller they met looked at Father and son and said 'what heartless fellows these are, why punish a poor beas.t with both your weights? Surely this is the height of mans cruelty'. Dejected, the Man climbed down and orders his son down as well and they continue the journey on foot. The next traveller they met took one look at father and son and said; surely these have got to be the greatest fo0ls in the world! Why are you both walking when you've got a saddled donkey with nothing to carry? Finally back to his senses, the Old man decides to ignore the travellers comments and ride on the donkey for a while and let his son do same whenever he got tired. I think the title of the story was; YOU CANT PLEASE EVERYBODY!
Moral of the story? I'm tired of logging on to NL and having to check the address bar to be sure i'm in the right place cos some folks have got an incurable obsession with particular colours. I'm tired of having to get used to a new NL every other week cos some folks arent content with the previous. You've got eyes and a functional head i believe, so why do you keep 'tweaking' every other week like u originally set out to destroy the site? Of course its great to entertain criticisms but it would be better if u sampled the opinion of a few folks than monitor the thots of an entire forum.
BTW this new template looks too garish on mobile so please TWEAK IT. Erm well . . .

Foreign Affairs › Re: Brics Nations Threaten IMF Funding by wesley80(m): 2:54pm On Mar 30, 2012
Kobojunkie: That is not true and has no bearing to this in anyway. Nigeria is not a member of Brics, and if Brics wanted a candidate, OCampo, who is a Brazilian would make sense since Brazil is a member Nation.

Also this plan has been in the works long before you tuned into the World Bank story. The Brics plan essentially is trying to create for the nations their own IMF, not world bank. Let's quit trying to connect the disconnected.
Ocampo is actually Colombian but was nominated by Brazil just as Iweala was nominated by SA. IMO China, India and Russia would rather favour a Nigerian than a Colombian considering what they stand to gain from Nigeria. Brazil is only playin big brother by nominating Ocampo and remain the only stumbling block to NOI among the BRIC nations esp when u realize that Ocampo doesnt have his own country's support.

They should patrol the street and gather intelligence info. The army is at the three point exit from Warri, the police should do internal patrol and rapid response to distress calls. ^ The rescue happened in Nigeria with full participation of British commandos - from that point on, responsibility became shared. Nigeria woundnt have attempted a rescue of foreign nationals under difficult circumstances without express permission from their home government, or can you cite an example where such was done in the past? No, Instead we'd rather pay the ransom and set them free than use force.
Nigeria is a developing country with a myriad of problems, we arent trying to rub shoulders with the west. We've got our own standards and despite how relatively low they are, we are certainly not a joke!
Politics › Re: Blame Me Also For Failed Hostage Rescue – Jonathan by wesley80(m): 11:03pm On Mar 16, 2012
Kobojunkie: I think this is coming too late. This statement should have come immediately after the debacle was revealed. Instead Nigeria allowed Britain to take the blame for the problem . . . . I applaud David Cameron for stepping out immediately, as he did to announce the blame was his, since the Nigerian side instead chose to blame boko haram. And Italy recognizing this immediately directed it's complaints at Britain and not Nigeria at all.
Nigeria didnt 'allow' Cameron take the blame. Whatever blame he took came his way cos he undertook to make the initial announcement of the failure of the operation and once he did that, there was really no avenue for Gej to share the responsibility for the failure until CNN came calling except thru official channels which i believe was done. This is Nigeria, no one expects our President to go on national tv to announce the death of foreign nationals regardless of where they r from, its sad but true and i assure you Gej would have gotten more flakes if he'd done so.
