When did TB Joshua make this prediction? At a time some of these men record the predictions after the event and release it.
Are you this mischievous? His services are broadcast live on satellite and holds infront of thousands and this particular prophecy was made during his evening service on sunday just hours before the game.

About a week ago he painted the unfolding scenario in the middle East and said it would 'definitely' lead to a world war if God doesnt intervene, cos different nations would line up for or against Israel and Iran. He urged his congregants to go on their knees and pray for both nations as the world was facing a war like none it has seen before and remember to pray on Mondays. Next sunday after the prayers he reminded his congregation about how tense it was out there but said he was optimistic God would intervene but urged his congregation not to relent in prayers.
Is that serious enough for you?

Why do people doubt like this? Guys watch the video (i have) he specifically said a side would miss a definite goal opportunity in the 25th minute of the second half that would have handed them the cup - the exact time Drogba threw away a PK. He said the match would wipe away the tears of a nation that suffered a tragedy on their way to a game (not exact words). What could be more definite? What was 50:50 in a game between Ivory coast and Zambia?
You guys really need to stop hating and give the man some serious respect, he's earned it!

By Chinedu Eze

After sitting for about three weeks the judicial appeal panel set up by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to investigate the N37.6 billion ($235 million) fine slammed on the two British airlines, British Airways (BA) and Virgin Atlantic Airways (VAA) unanimously came to a conclusion that the two airlines had not breached any Nigerian law.

In October last year the regulatory body led by the Director General, Dr Harold Demuren, ordered the British major carriers to pay the above sum as compensation for Nigerians passengers the airlines allegedly shortchanged with exorbitant and outrageous fares over the years.

But the two major airlines had denied any wrong doing and had insisted that they would not pay any penalties, prompting NCAA to set up a panel made up of five distinguished members to deliberate and consider the legality and fairness of NCAA’s investigation, report and findings “with respect to the investigation into BA and VAA’s collusion, deceptive, unfair and anti-competitive practices especially with respect to the Passenger Fuel Surcharge.”

The pane, which was chaired by retired Justice George Oguntade of the Supreme Court of Nigeria met yesterday in Lagos and held that the NCAA Act of 2006 could not take action on a matter that was alleged to have been committed in 2004 and in a 20 page judgment, the panel set aside the fine.

Other members of the panel include Dr. Folarin Gbadebo-Smith, Alhaji Bala Ibn NaAllah, former member of the House of Representatives who served on the Aviation Committee and KGB Oguakwa, a lawyer and former ranking member of the House of Representative who served as Chairman, House Committee on Aviation and also the House Committee on Tourism and Culture and Calistus Uwakwe, who served as secretary on the panel.

Uwakwe told reporters after the verdict was given yesterday that it was a unanimous decision of the panel.

He said that the panel could not uphold the allegations against the airlines as put by the NCAA because the violation occurred between August 2004 and March 2006, while the provision of the law at that time prescribed a penalty of cease and deceased order.

Country Commercial Manager for British Airways, Mr. Kola Olayinka said that the British mega carrier appreciated the decision of the panel for upholding the rule of law, remarking that it indicated that there is hope for Nigeria.

Also the representative of Virgin Atlantic Airways in Nigeria, Chief John Adebanjo, said, “We are happy with the decision. We will continue to work with the NCAA. We are happy with the Director General of NCAA appeal panel. We believe that right from day one, we have not breached any Nigerian law. We respect the office of the Director General of NCAA. We want to thank the Minister of Aviation; Justice Oguntade led panel and our passengers who have sent to us letters of support”

Demuren ensured that the panel was given the free hand to carry out its responsibility and expressed the hope that it would abide by whatever decisions it came up with.

Before the panel’s decision yesterday, Demuren had told THISDAY, “The panel will look at it and then take a decision. If I am wrong they will say that I am wrong, but once I get their report and they say the people are wrong I will tell them to come and pay immediately.”

The Director-General alleged that BA and VAA used deception to collect so much money from Nigerian passengers as fares, noting that the fares Nigerians pay are three times what the airlines charge in Ghana.

Make una no misinterpret my words like this o. I never said Flavour was Highlife. I said that he is the closest thing to it, since (as far as I understand) the era for that genre of music is over. See my comments, quoted below.

So I no understand how pesin go fit misunderstand my words to that extent. I never said nor insinuated anything like Flavour being Highlife. I know Highlife music when I hear it, and Flavour is not Highlife, but he definitely incorporates some distinct elements of Highlife into some of his music. That is why I said he is the closest thing now to the genre that was alive and reverberating then.

I would be doing Warrior, Oriental Bros, Peacocks and all others a great disservice, if ever I call Flavour "Highlife".
Fair enough, my apologies.
Politics › Re: The Adulteress' Diary - By Lamido Sanusi by wesley80(m): 9:24am On Feb 10, 2012
Satire at its very best. Sanusi clearly picks on the hypocrisy of some of his religious leaders and doesnt mind drawing inference from Christianity to highlight the folly of aspects of his religion allbeit subject to erroneous interpretations from its custodians. But whether or not his brave attempt to distance himself and his religion from a hypocritical interpretation of the ordinances of his Faith qualifies him to be an altruist, i'm unsure. Who wouldnt want to point out the folly of a band of leaders that put up ones faith for global scrutiny and ridicule by demonstrating such blatant hypocrisy? While i personally would hesitate to call the mallam a religious bigot or ethnic supremacist, his views and take on certain national issues in the past does not leave him far off - you cannot be a radical islamist for nothing. That he ultimately means well for this nation can not be denied and for that he would always have my admiration (perhaps a tinge of bigotry/supremacy does have its use afterall) but to maintain that he's a totally altruistic fellow can only be likened to insisting 'Denial is a river in Egypt' (hope that just didnt go over your heads?)

You mean madam Comfort 'onye omali osa' one of my favorites also, you guys r making realize how few of his songs i actually have. Never knew him when he was alive either but dont think it would have made any difference. A brother once gave a scathing criticism of his songs describing most of them as being too 'mournful/sorrowful and with a theme mostly bothering around 'death', i knew he had a point but what cannot be taken away from him is the beauty of his songs and ability to stir deep emotions within its listener.
For Osadebey, with me its the older the better, of course Osondi owendi is a classic, still love makojo, Aduke, Abube 85 as well as most songs he did during his days of rivalry with Oliver (as i got to understand) imagine those guys trying to do the best song for 'Peoples club'! Intriguing. As for Oliver, i only like his vintage songs, yes we all grooved 'biri kan biri' but it wasnt really enduring. Morroco? I stopped in Ubanese, not cos he wasnt good but it wasnt my type. Love oriental bros and sir Warrior, heard the latter was caught with drugs abroad and injected with a lethal dose of something to go and die at home! Lolzzz

Thank you my brother. I didn't know that Obidi has derailed. Nawa o! It surprises me that few people spare a thought for Ali nwa Chukwuma like you said. Even Benson Idonije who always extols the virtues of Nigerian highlife musicians of old never mentions Ali. Anytime I listen to Ali Chukwuma he brings tears to my ears. Songs like "Onye ilom egbunam kam bie enu" "Alili egbugo nwa mgbeyi" 'Onye ga ekwu nwa mgbeyi onua" "Onwu Everest Oguchi" are really philosophical songs. Celestine Ukwu is seen as the quintessential Ibo highlife philosopher but to me, Ali was not too far off.

I must also mention Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson. I know he was Kalabari but he had some nice songs in Ibo too like "Adure" "Ewu na ebe akwa" (which sadly was misunderstood by the North during the crises of 1966)
Thanks for knowing this much, you've sincerely brought joy to my heart. I remember travelling thru Onitsha as a student and stumbling on a CD of Ali Chuks for the very first time as i'd thot no one would bother transferring those old records to CD, how wrong i was. I ended up buying 4 of his CD's that day and would have continued searching if i'd not found my favorite 'ego ji olu' and 'eje lunor'. Those tracks you mentioned just got me feeling envious and i cant wait to go searching again!

My dad had a collection of Rex's songs which i was fond of but i never knew he did any Igbo tracks. That guy was such a master of highlife imagine enjoying an entire collection of songs i couldnt pick out a single word from. I actually used to think he was Ghanian!

@ Poster: I do not think the state of Ibo highlife is as bad as you depict it. If you really want to appreciate the current state of Ibo high life you have to go beyond the South Eastern states and look at the Ibo speaking areas of Delta. For instance, Ogbogu Okonji from Ogwashi is a very well known Ibo highlife musician. Obidi Chukwuma, the son of the legendary Ali Chukwuma from Aboh (though with an Ogbaru heritage) is another one. I will recommend Ogbogu's album titled "Ndi Uka" and Obidi's album titled "Ndi odi osiso" to you.
May God richly bless you for remembering the legendary Ali Chuks, very few spare him a thought these days. His son Obidi was doing very well but his taste for alcohol and weed ruined his reputation a great deal, more than once he came on stage only to burst into tears and had to be led off. The rave of the moment seems to be Ogbogu okonji all over Delta North.
Make no mistake about it, highlife is thriving in the East just that most of the artistes are not as popular as the Osadebey's, the likes of Soni Bobo and the Arabanko dude are favorites all over the East and most good joints at least in Owerri still supply very good highlife bands thru the weekend and there's hardly any alternative but good Igbo highlife music.

^^^ Corruption is relative. You cannot compare an Obj-style corruption where he armtwists folks to give generously to his 'cause', uses his political power to 'indirectly' expand his economic influence and grants economic favors to folks that are in his good book to an Abacha/Ibori-style corruption where their calling seemed to be active looting and little else or even a Tinubu/Fashola-styled corruption where they've subverted the system for personal gain and still manage to stare citizens in the face and say 'And so What?'. Yes corruption is corruption but the aforementioned people all belong to different classes. No? In any case, Obj being corrupt does not put a dent on Ribadu. The man came out with totally clean hands whether or not he went after those Obj wanted.

What zone is Ideator/Urualla and what zone is Rochas from? Why does every new Governor feel obligated to play politics with IMSU? First was Udenwa moving their medical school to his zone Orlu, Ohakim moved the engineering faculty to Okigwe his zone, not to be outdone, Rochas now wants to move the entire school to Ideato to "curb prostitution" as someone is already xplaining! What makes "scattered campuses" desirable with IMSU aside politics? Why give an excuse as ridiculous as "Decongestion" or "prostitution"? Do u know how much investments would be lost automatically if and when the school is moved? This is nothing but a political decision and the economics of it are not being considered and neither is Rochas thinking of the entire state in choosing to move the school.

When his views are juxtaposed with those of other Xtian leaders that have been indulging in active sabre rattling, you begin to understand why 'Leadership' is our number one problem.
Culture › Re: How Far Back Can You Trace Your Ancestry? by wesley80(m): 11:14am On Jan 29, 2012
Luckily for me, my roots and ancestry are pretty clear and lies in the twin towns of Aboh and another neighbouring community. Though I've become an Aboh man today, my actual root lies elsewhere as my ancestor abt 8 generations ago moved down to Aboh accompanying her sister that was married off to an Aboh prince in line with ancient tradition. Certain traditions have over generations made my family ties to my roots unbreakable and I can't help but be thankful for them. For example, Being both predominantly fishing communities, there's a certain fish (reputed to be the biggest in our rivers) that you MUST NOT eat or sell when caught but must be taken to the eldest in the family for some rites, a tradition that still exists to this day!. My grandma told stories of how their parents had to walk for days with rotten fish back in the days. From my ancestral home, my lineage is one way as my progenitor was the founder of the community and the kingship still rotates among the family of his four(or so) children of which mine is one, my Father still receives his share of communty land sold and so on. Some say the founder of the town was a Bini prince some disagree but I'm content to trace my roots back that far and I can't help but feel sorry for those that can hardly go beyond 2 generations!
