^^ Iweala goes out, Ezekwesili becomes the hands on favoorite to come in. The latters leanings are not as clear cut as Iwealas but I do not expect any radical change and also do not think the occupier of the position would really matter as the nations economic policies have already been designed in favour of free markets and would require serious re-engineering by someone with not only the unflinching desire but completely deaf also as any such move wld be met by a barrage of criticisms locally and internationally. The only person I can see achieving that wld have to be someone with a good enough international repute that can look straight into the eyes of the IMF chiefs and tell them to get lost and widespread local support across all zones to withstand the inevitable local criticisms but unfortunately I can't think of anyone that fits. Ezekwesili wouldav been perfect but an ex IMF chief isn't my idea of "radical change". |
koruji: I hope that if she gets the position, she will tone down the unworkable "market" policies often mouthed as the solution to African problems - e.g. the recent subsidy-removal fiasco. No she won't tone down on those policies and u really shouldn't expect her to. What u call the "unworkable market policies" remain the key economic policy thrust the Bretton woods institutions have to offer developing countries and an Iweala presidency won't change it and even if she could, she wont. Her economic leanings are no secret and I assure u that her name would never have been considered if she'd so much as evinced those traits of challenging the status quo. The reason she actually has got more support than any other candidate is because her leanings are clear cut and she has never wavered in her economic ideology regardless of the institution she's been called to serve. Just do a study of the Two big financial news orgz. that have championed her campaign (FT & The Economist) and you'd realize these are hardcore pro Western capitalist organizations that have NEVER seen any reason to tone down the form of aggressive pro West economic policies these institutions offer developing economies. They ceaselessly preach free mkt and abhor any form of protectionism even when mkt are unfavorably skewed in favor of the West. Iweala is actually a surer bet for developed economies than Kim hence her widespread support. Do I support her? Absolutely and mostly for the reasons u cited earlier and I wish her all the best but I'm certainly under no illusions, Hell no! |
Any hope of getting some kind of transcript? won't mind if its a summary. |
It's funny how Igbo claim SS as well. ![]() All the Igbo regions in SS don't have a single drop of oil, so you guys can't claim nothing over there. Itsekiris, Ijaws and Ilajes own all the Oil in Delta State. Ijaws own all the oil in Bayelsa. Ogonis and Ikwerres own all the oil in Rivers. Ibibio and Annangs own all the oil in Akwa Ibom. Igbo parasites, get a life.
By their level of ignorance, ye shall know them. |
jmaine: Action film don start . .Starring Rhino.5dm, Wesley80 and Ejine . . .Abeg no call my name put o cos nothing wey me and that akpa attention seeking imbecyle want debate. |
bittyend: Why didn't OPC attack those clowns, and send them back to their region?? These people are taking the Yorubas for granted - and Yorubas need to stop being docile, and do something. Ijaws are no match for Egba people alone - enough of this madness already.LOL Una get liver? If they throw only one knockout una go start to jump enter lagoon willfully. Like u didn't know docility is a Yoruba attribute! |
ogbeche77: Are u 4 real? Or just kidding as u always do afam4eva: Seriously?Erm erm erm, was hoping u guys wld see d irony of a supposed "he" putting to bed and get the message I was only kidding. |
She just put to bed and is on mat leave. Give her a few more days. |
Callotti: Instead of tactlessly Tinubu nor close road for im 80th birthday?Abeg help me ask the hypocrite. Thanks for finally putting your bad mouth to good use. |
PointB: Our Mods (OAM4J, and Jarus) have washed off their hands from the inglorious act. Seun, will protect that fifth columnist MOD, but above all, we have shown true character in dealing with the issue, and the OP has withdrawn the post claiming it was borne out of ignorance. We should let this pass, but not our guards.Truth is there prolly was no "fifth columnist MOD". This most likely was Seun being mischievous for obvious reasons and subsequently trying to stay anonymous by spreading the blame which BTW I think was very "low". What some still haven't realized is that while for most out here this is sometimes serious stuff, but to Mr and Mrs, the only thing that matters are Traffic, hits and posts! It doesn't matter if deep seeds of hatred are being sowed so long as NL attains its supposed status. |
smile4kenn: Abeg o Ndi Igbo, My aim wasn't to install hatred or division on you guys. me self be Igbo. I never knew you already had eze ndi igbo. And it took u 17 hours to realize your folly? SMH |
Seun: Moderators have the power to mail Seun or mukina2 and ask them to please post specific threads to the home page.So which Moderators mailed Seun or Mukina2 and asked them to put this crappy thread on the frontpage? |
Jokes aside, we need new igwe before the oracle gets angry. The time is NOW
If a new Igwe were to be needed, it won't be suggested by an Outcast. There are more than enough legitimate sons and daughters that care about the affairs of their own people and are trusted to conduct their affairs. I doubt they'll ever need ideas from brains with congealed nmanu! |

After una go ask una Fada why dem dey say Yorubas are cowardly? Small pressure dis one with thin thin legs done buckle. OP finally proved her Yorubaness beyond doubt! |
Sensationalized story. Malawians aren't blasting TB Joshua any more than sceptical Nigerians do everytime he prophesies. Fact is that some are awed while others feel the direct opposite. Read peoples opinions for yourself in the below link and don't depend on any hungry newspaper reporter to tell u what's happening in a country he probably can't locate on a map. www.nyasatimes.com/malawi/2012/04/08/tp-joshua-says-mutharika-knew-prophecy-was-about-him/ |
I just voted for a NL "Yoruba leader". Guess who I voted for. . This is more fun than I imagined, I look forward to the coronation of the Area Camphor. |
What are the odds that u and at least 70% on this forum wld have heard about him without those prophecies? |
Jarus: It is uncharitable to pick that senetnce in isolation when you see the earlier part that 'by the expectation of people here'My broda there is no defence for that one lined statement. Sometimes when caught in the act perhaps the most "charitable" thing to do would be to do a sincere soul search but definitely not offering this sort of feeble defence. What u did is akin to giving a sermon on chastity then licking your lips at the jiggle of the booobs of your listener! You can not claim to be "detribalized" then gloat at the antecedents of one of the worse examples on this forum of a tribalist, not even "context" conceals the fact that u'd relish seeing him take on his "foes". Your one lined statement was a tacit endorsement of tribal warfare on this forum and you can not claim to only be towing the line of most on this thread, that's purely subterfugal. |
^^ Replace each of those names with these three words E-W-U, that's the only name you should be answering from now on. Oya, come on say "Thanks Sir" |
I wish you guys could provide some link for your claims but I understand if u can't but at the same time, its such a shame to have folks misquoting the prophet on matters as sensitive as these. Careful guys, never make a quote or attribute a prophecy to the Prophet when u're not ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN of his words. Be wise! That said, maybe this should make the homepage as well. |
Jarus: he can deliver fatal punches to other tribes when war starts! So much for being "detribalized" |
Gbawe: I generally always stay away from these sort of nonsense but I must step in here to prevent my name being dragged into this. Guys, I know some claim this is all a bit of fun, but let me kindly beg all Nairalanders to keep me out of this nonsense. It stands against what I believe in and what I think Nairaland should be.Hmmm, honourable I've got to say. |
kofoshi: Yorubas only, pls!In that case, this thread should be moved to the Culture section. |
Eko Ile: I hope we are not misplacing our history and historical understanding. Aare-Ona kakanfo is a warrior, he's the generalissimo and many of the names listed are are yet to show their warrior attributes on NL. If you are not a fearless fighter and strong advocate by any means necessary on behalf of the Yoruba people, this position is not for you.Tell them, Tell them. Which kind aje butter warriors dem dey nominate when we have proven NL embedded Generals like you? Imagine the insult of honouring the likes of Jarus and Katz who neva get their hands dirty and always run away from battles when we have tenacious garbage pigs like u and your dedicated comrades? SMH. Bros, calm down let me see what I can do to help correct this grave injustice. I hereby nominate Eko Ile and erm erm (which other disgusting fellow should accompany our General ) ok, Bluetooth! Apologies to the other members of the band of infamy, twas a very close choice! |
tenisuga: na so we want am,I know say no so una want am so I just dey help una remember some of una "cyber heroes" na bad I do? Why leave your heroes and hail the inconspicuous occassional posters? Abeg I no gree, this Yoruba heroes must not go unsung. BTW there are still more heroes yet to be listed sha. You want me to stay away? Dream on, you couldn't drrrrraaaaaag me away if u tried! Dis thread na ebeano and ebeano kan ga nokwa! |
funmeme: Plenty experience oo with d̶̲̥̅̊ĭ§ devils called police..Jeez, this sounds so scary. Na wa o! My unfortunate encounter happened a couple of yrs back during my youth service. I had to travel to my hometown to attend my sisters trad marriage and boarded a car from Warri, unfortunately there had been a clash between two neighboring communities so mobile policemen were posted to the border of the two communities which happened to be the highway. On approaching the checkpoint our driver advised us to coperate totally with the officers as there was a particular one among them that had made himself a nightmare to all road users so we all climbed down as soon as we wereordered to and opened our bags for inspection. Just as my bag was being inspected by an officer and I was obediently tossing the contents from side to side, one loonatic officer just charged out from nowhere and gave me a vicious kick on my butt and followed it up with a thunderous slap on my back and before I even had a sec to recover, he cocked his gun and ordered me to "properly" show the contents of my bag asking me who I was "forming big boy for"! Dazed and with my hands shaking terribly, I literally threw the entire contents on the ground and even before the first contents landed, he pounced on his next victims the driver and a pretty girl that sat next to me ordering them to sit on the soggy ground. After pleas from our driver who was the only one left with a functional tongue he let us go and as soon as the car drove off, fear released my tear ducts and I had to fix my gaze outta the window to hide the tears in them. There was no form of revenge I didn't consider that day but I somehow let it go and neva told anyone about it till now. And like the poster above me said, I hope God forgives him cos I have. Policeeeee hmmm, fear dem o. |
As far as NL is concerned (at least in recent times) their Yoruba leader would have to be chosen from an ignominous list of Eko Ile, Bluetooth, Negro, Seanet, Dayokanu, F,Y,Z Stranger and of course Gbawe. It therefor begs the question: which Yoruba leader is not a BIGOT? |
^^ You r right but also wrong. Recently, some new faultlines were discovered off the Nigerian coast and i recall a professor of geology from one of our universities predicting some kind of quake in the future. But what is clear is that what ever fault line that exists can only lead to minimal effects as those lines are not a part of the original tectonic plates which triggered the continental drift. |
Gbanj11: if i might cut in. U sound learned, soo let me ask u this...yes we dnt get the earthquakes/tsunamis and so on, but do believe that Africa still gets it fair share of disastersWell, Yes I do believe that Africa has its fair share of natural disasters but they are limited to floods, droughts and the like but definitely not quakes. |
