the best way, i think  for your kids to learn to speak it.  Is to bring their grandma (preferably the one who can't speak english) to live with you for as many years. Trust me they'll be saying yoruba more than you can!.
If their parents or some important family member can't speak english, they'll be forced to learn their native language, or if their parents decides not to use english w/ them.

it's natural not to speak the language of some country you weren't born in or never lived. so it's perfectly normal.
but i think even if you can't speak it, you should be able to understand at least a little (not just the swear words).
