Tayo-D: lol bush deserved both shoes and more though. The guy was brave. he's probably being tortured somewhere now if not dead already. I'm surprised at the sympathetic closet republicans in here. |

Ebony-Silk: no but I saw dollars beside the road once but I walked really fast past it. there was a pot next to the dollars with palm oil and some white stuff (i think pounded yam or something like that). There is this chant that we say "ebo e le bo, pada lehin mi" and then snap over our heads three times. lol |

Romance / Re: True Life Experiences. by WesleyanA(f): 4:53am On Dec 15, 2008 |
there was actually another girl that was accused a yr later when i was in pry 6. she was a housegirl and she supposedly confessed to her benefactor. the lady came to tell the school officials. she never came back to the school either the rumour going around was that she had pointy ears so she must be a witch. I didn't personally know this girl but I can't really explain how I felt then. I wholeheartedly believed in witches and was sort of counting my blessings that I didn't know this pointy eared girl. |
Family / Re: Husband Punches Wife by WesleyanA(f): 4:48am On Dec 15, 2008 |
why did you open your eyes and marry a criminal to begin with. You say you've been bailing him out of prison and paying his fines, . . why then are you surprised that he's hitting you? I know love is blind but i don't think it's that blind. what do you want us to say to you? pity you and tell you everything will be alright? I really don't know. There is a common sense answer to your problem but common sense isn't common to everyone. |
Romance / Re: True Life Experiences. by WesleyanA(f): 4:37am On Dec 15, 2008 |
There was this girl in my primary school. She seem to come from a really rich family since she came to school everyday with at least 20 naira. To top it off, she is very generous she buys candy and biscuits for her friends and I made sure to walk home with her, since we follow the same path, so she can buy me icecream etc. One morning on the assembly line, the headmaster told us that a very unfortunate event has happened that we have found a witch in our midst. This same girl was brought to the front to the assembly, laid on a table and flogged mercilessly. apparently, her mother and brother have been complaining that at night she went to the witch world and it was hard to wake her up in the morning. The worst part was that there was a rumor circulating that all the people she had bought food for will join her in the dark world. She will drag us there in our sleep. I swear I fasted for almost three days after that and my parents thought I was sick. . I was so scared I was going to turn into a witch. |

Foreign Affairs / Re: An Iraqi Throws A Shoe At President Bush by WesleyanA(f): 2:59am On Dec 15, 2008 |
That man that throw the shoe is a slowpoke. For all that George Bush did for iraq, he does not deserve that. he is lucky he can do that. Can he do that to Saddam. Saddam would behead him at the conference. I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not. lol but this is funny. esp. the last line. I'm just picturing some Nigerian (most likely hausa or yoruba) dude throwing slippers on Bush's face. |

Culture / Re: Men Don't Think African Culture Is The Best. They Like It Because It Favors Them by WesleyanA(f): 7:20am On Dec 12, 2008 |
I'm sure people like their cultures for various reasons. The most obvious one is that the culture is "theirs." duh! why won't you like your own culture? it's part of your identity. I do agree though that our cultures are chauvinistic and most African men LOVE that aspect of it because it favors them. for proove, go to any thread with sexist topics ex. King of Swaziland and the Reed dance. Most of the men support the exploitation of the young girls paraded naked in front of the old king and call it part of "tradition." ie we should embrace our sexist culture as opposed to western sexuality board has some similar topics as well (virginity, gender roles in marriage etc). |
Fashion / Re: Fixed Fake Hair by WesleyanA(f): 8:43am On Dec 02, 2008 |
savanaha: yeah. you can also play with it. too many people touch/ play with my hair when I leave it out. apparently, "it's fun to play with" because you can do many things with it. but running fingers through it will be torturous IMO. |

Fashion / Re: Wigs, Weaves And Perms Symbolize Self Hate by WesleyanA(f): 9:52am On Nov 30, 2008 |
KarmaMod: sometimes I do. but when I take it off, i'm natural. I currently don't have extensions. haven't had it since last year but will probably get some soon because they're cute I don't see extensions as a symbol of self hate but if someone places too much dependency on it/ wear it 24/7, then that's bad. perms are ok as well but way too many people perm their hair. I wish more women were natural since I don't see natural women very often. but that's just my wishful thinking I guess ps. I like your braids in your pic. |
Fashion / Re: Wigs, Weaves And Perms Symbolize Self Hate by WesleyanA(f): 4:59am On Nov 30, 2008 |
onyinye2: Your "people who keep their hair natural are stupid and insecure" theory is very funny. I bet you're the kind that will perm and weave your child's hair right after the baby pops out of your stomach (yeah it's not uncommon to see less than 1 year old babies with perm to show how stupid some mothers are) since the word "natural" hurts your guts. and I know we all do stupid things sometimes. It's ok hair doesn't die. It is never a living property to begin with. But there is definitely such thing as "healthy" and "unhealthy hair" and you can tell from looking at it. do you need pics or what? I bet you don't wash your hair since you don't have a reason to keep it "healthy" talk about Olodo. yes hair is hair the pointlessness of hair is what caused the French to place a ban on the use of hijab meant as a hair covering for muslim females. It's so pointless we should all shave it off and ban the use of the word "hair" from the dictionary as a matter of fact. maybe then you'll be happy and the world will be a better place for you (ms. perm) and me (ms. natural). |
Fashion / Re: Fixed Fake Hair by WesleyanA(f): 3:44am On Nov 28, 2008 |
LRNZH: what we are trying to get through your thick skull is that you can't run your fingers through a black girls hair unless she has "fixed" it with a fresh perm (no natural undergrowth etc). so you are contradicting yourself. on that note, I will advice you to stick with non-Africans. some people fancy fixed hair, some don't. I personally am biased towards "unfixed" hair. but one man's meat is another man's poison. |

tpia: LOL. the guy is confused. LRNZH: LMAO I bet your black grandpa had fun running his hands through your black grandma's nappy hair back then when perms didn't really exist. universal my nose science of touch my neck |

I'm confused. What class are the teachers teaching? are they nursery school teachers or primary school teachers? who hired them? Who taught them in pry 4? The number is so huge. what's the govt doing about this? |
Fashion / Re: Fixed Fake Hair by WesleyanA(f): 9:29pm On Nov 27, 2008 |
LRNZH: If you find european hair attractive, why do you have problems with wigs and weaves? they're of the same texture (that's the reason black ladies wear weaves in the first place. so it can look european). lol you're very confused |

Fashion / Re: Wigs, Weaves And Perms Symbolize Self Hate by WesleyanA(f): 9:04pm On Nov 27, 2008 |
I personally don't see wigs, weaves and perms as symbols of self-hate but I think too many black females use and can't live without these stuff. There will be a high rate of suicide among black females if wigs, weaves and perms were banned. lol. I can just imagine black girls jumping out of their windows thinking it's the end of the world. The dependency is what I hate |

Foreign Affairs / Re: Only In Africa! by WesleyanA(f): 9:18am On Nov 05, 2008 |
DavidDylan: people worship Obama everywhere it's disturbing. . He is pretty much a demi-god for the liberals and a lot of ppl around the globe. I support Obama but I don't think this kind of reception is good for him. It might be detrimental in the future since the ppl's expectations are WAY too high. I don't know what's going to happen next, |
Foreign Affairs / Re: US Elections 2008 Results: Obama vs Mccain by WesleyanA(f): 8:46am On Nov 05, 2008 |
wow. who could have thought, HUGE history in the making I hope President Obama lives up to our expectations. PepERSprAY: a friend of mine shares a similar sentiment. Only she doesn't use the word "anti-christ" she just compared him to someone I won't mention lol. she feels something is just not right. I'm kind of superstitious but I try not to think about that. I really hope that his presidency is a successful one. |
Culture / Re: The Reed Dance Is Out Of Date! by WesleyanA(f): 8:40pm On Sep 20, 2008 |
It's not even the nudity that is most disturbing. there was a topic on here about Nigerian police harrasing and arresting women on the street for dressing inappropriately or half naked, and most thought the treatment was unjust . |
Culture / Re: The Reed Dance Is Out Of Date! by WesleyanA(f): 9:03pm On Sep 19, 2008 |
KarmaMod: bawomolo: Thank You!!! why would you compare PlayBoy entertainment owner with the King of a Kingdom? Goes to show what kind of a King he is and why the stupid reed dance shouldn't be condoned. yeah I live in the US and have never heard of Hefner actually. lol. you can tell I don't watch a lot of junk tv. |
Culture / Re: The Reed Dance Is Out Of Date! by WesleyanA(f): 6:12am On Sep 19, 2008 |
Negro_Ntns: First of all, I, as well as MILLIONS of other Americans have never heard of a "dude by name Hugh Hefner" or whatever this dude's name is. And i'm sure if the public knew of him, majority won't condone his behavior and like you said, he falls under the category of a "love-vendor." Pimps are glorified by street, ghetto, likewise immoral youths and individuals. No parent will send his/her daughter to go work as a prostitute for a love-vendor. We are talking about a KING of a KINGDOM here. Your argument only makes sense if President Bush does worse things to women and is celebrated for it (rather than some obscure personality that no one knows or care about). Even Bill Clinton who was unfaithful to his sole wife went through hell for what he did. so there, your argument doesn't hold. Mr Hefner, who's that again? Your local bar owner? Of course the King of Swaziland isn't doing anything "wrong" or unheard of (, as in breaking his country's laws, he's the KING). That's like saying slavery is wrong in 1820. Of course most people didn't see anything wrong with Slavery back then. It was the progressive minds that saw the wrongs in it. And as we all know, the opposite of "progressive mind" is "backward mind." In other words, the Reed dance is out of date. |
Culture / Re: The Reed Dance Is Out Of Date! by WesleyanA(f): 4:53am On Sep 17, 2008 |
lol. I don't think it's necessary to ask him 'cause we came here together (by plane). I'll like to hear your theory of how I got to America though i bet it would be interesting. lol |
