@ whatever 90
we have a saying that one does not stand in the market and hold debate with a confirmed mad man. i have nothing further to say to you. it is obvious you're incapable of logical or objective discourse.

there are equally nasty things to be said about every tribe in this country, big or small. an educated mind knows better than to spout that kind of rubbish.
wow, take it easy ,before u end up with a very bad heart attack grin

take it or leave it,iceblue u igbos are thieves cool

whitelexi:
Dude, stop disgracing yourself, coming up in here and crying the igbos are thieves simply because u can't afford a brideprice. That sweet soup was prepared by good money, you cannot expect everything to fall at your feet even if the world was a bed of roses, its as simple as that.

You know what they say about yoruba girls and dirtiness? Thats why we wont be thinking in that line grin grin grin

Leave our girls for us, we like them how they are, cheap or expensive, we know they're neat sha tongue tongue tongue

snazzy82:
Today, the United States of America will elect a new President. The choice will be between Barack Obama, candidate of the Democratic Party and John McCain who carries the mandate of the Republican Party.

As things stand, through a combination of divine providence, prodigious talent, compulsive industry, the beauty of the American democratic spirit and the widespread Obama phenomenon widely referred to as Obamamania, the strong probability is that Barack Obama, African but African-American, son of a Kenyan immigrant and a white mother, bi-racial black, graduate of University of Columbia and the Harvard Law School, will record a victory that will transform the political history and landscape of America. Judging from the opinion polls from highly reputable organizations, Obama is 5 to 10 points national lead over McCain, and favoured to win the race to the White House and become the 44th President of the United States of America and by that token, he will become the first black man as well as the first non Anglo-Saxon to occupy the most powerful political office in the world. His candidacy has transformed history and marks a critical turning point in American politics.

Whatever happens on this day, Barack Obama has etched his name in the golden book of history and the journey so far has been both phenomenal and astronomical. It began, essentially, in June 2000, when Obama challenged a sitting Democratic Senator for the congressional seat of the State of Illinois. Obama lost the election woefully. But it was the kind of trouncing and drubbing which fires political imagination. Obama rose from the ashes of that loss, with healed scars, to re-contest the Senatorial seat in the year, 2004.

That was the year the Obama phenomenon took America by storm when, at the National Convention of the Democratic Party which held in Boston, Massachusetts, between June 26 and 29, he delivered the powerful oratorical keynote address which stunned the delegates and revealed the essential character of a man cut out for great political heights.

It is the same kind of speech, this time an acceptance speech after a grueling campaign for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, which he won as an underdog, against the formidable candidacy of Hillary Clinton, wife of the two-term, popular President of America, Bill Clinton. His political vision of a new, changed America resonated through that speech in which he declared that America and the Democrats were witnessing ‘the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another—a journey which will bring a new and better day to America’.

Optimism about the chances of Barack Obama to succeed George Bush is not based on sentiment, mere audacity of hope and faith or wishful thinking. He wrenched the party’s nomination from the most formidable engine in recent Democratic politics. The Clintons were struck with surprised disbelief from which they recovered to make a rare show of brinkmanship at the party’s Convention, where both Hilary and Bill presented him as the man who will turn American politics, presently on a precipitous bend, around.

On the basis of his background and personal merit (he is a meritocrat), his formidable electioneering strategy, American’s present anti-Republican mood, and the fact of his bi-racial candidacy being a solid instrument for cleansing America of her burden of racism, Obama’s candidacy is a positive and plausible presidential reality. The embarrassing but real racist past and present of America can receive cleansing through Obama’s Presidency, with its trans-ethnic, universal Americanism.

Some other factors that have sold him include his left-of liberal ideological base. He has positively presented himself as an agent of change and social transformation. By his sheer being, he stands the chance of refurbishing America’s drubbed global image—the Uncle Tomist image worsened by the wars of blame and aggression in the Middle East in the name of anti-terrorism.

From his electioneering strategy, right from the primaries, Obama has proved himself as a highly talented political organizer and a manager of human beings and human resources. He has, indeed, been described, quite aptly, as having run the best campaign in recent presidential electioneering history. His campaigns are issues and ideas- based, contrary to the calumnious strategy of the Republican candidate. His fund-raising propensity and his propensity for recruiting volunteers, (he has recruited four times more the number of volunteers than George Bush did to win re-election in 2004), attest to the superiority of his candidacy.

His deployment of new technology and creation of sites for social networking were acknowledged as un-surpassed. So also is his stupendous disbursement of unprecedented television blitz to convey his economic message which reveals him as the politician of the future. The world looks forward to the White House benefiting from his fluent organizational propensity.

On the basis of performance, the transformational possibility he symbolizes for the minority races in America and the entire American citizenship seeking a new lease of socio-economic and political life, we identify with Barack Obama’s aspiration to become the first black President of the United States of America. We do so in the belief that Obama is strategically poised to centralize Africa in the foreign policy of America.

World opinion outside of America, which will be ill-at-ease, at least initially, with their first non-white President, is favourable towards Obama. The rest of the world cannot wait to get to the end of the disastrous Bush and Republican reign. Here is a Democrat with a listening ear, flexible but firm; a man who promises to redistribute wealth and shift the approach to war on terrorism away from the battle-field—away from Iraq and Afghanistan, even Pakistan and Iran and bring down the tension around the world as provoked by the Republican war-mongering. Americans want all their boys brought back home, from the un-winnable war in Iraq. They want a far less rattling relationship with the rest of the world and Obama can bring that about. He represents the change America needs.

pot calling the kettle black about brains!!  angry angry angry for someone who claims to have brains you're awfully small minded! The outrageous bride price is a TRADITION, one that wasn't rooted in thievery. In those days, a man was proud to pay it, because it showed his worthiness to marry their daughter. It has been abused, like unscrupulous elements in any other tribe would do had the tradition been theirs. Most of all, with enlightenment and changes in priorities, people are kicking against it.

That's a very insultive statement. If you have any decency you should take it back and apologise  angry angry angry

Your brother was just trying to show off but spending big. Its not a requirement. If he dosent have the money to do those things, he'll still marry the girl.
