we hope they export the fishes and earn FOREX to get us out of recession
at least their coming generations won't suffer from years of negative effects of the chemical destruction years after these criminals have squandered whatever they get from negotiation. Who says we we can't make it an export item?
PoliticsRe: Operation Crocodile Tears: Militants Blow Up Another Oil Facility In Delta by whizzler:
undecidedYoruba:
A crude oil delivery line belonging to the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company crossing Afiesere- Iwhrenene communities in Ughelli North Council Area of Delta State has been blown up by suspected militants.

A militant group, the Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate, claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred at about 1am on Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the militant group, Aldo Agbalaja, confirmed the development in a statement sent to our correspondent.

The group, which is simply called Greenland, threatened further attacks while disclosing that Tuesday’s attack was carried out as part of ‘Operation Crocodile Tears’, a planned series of attacks on oil facilities, which it declared earlier.

It said, “As a mark of our faith to totally grounding the Nigerian oil economy, the gallant “Opudo” strike forces brought down the Afiesere- Iwhrenene major delivery line in Ughelli North, leading to the UPS/UQCC operated by NPDC/SHORELINES at about 1am today 13th september 2016.

“The Niger Delta is not a conquered territory and our people have never succumbed to intimidation before, rather we match force with the oppressor’s brutality.

“The Nigerian government should already know that the people of this part are not fools, who will not be able to see when they are being treated with disdain.”

The militant group reiterated its call to those living and working around oil companies within the upland region of the Niger Delta to vacate such premises to avoid being injured during attacks.

Warning that it was running out of patience with such people, the group said, “For the last time, leave these areas if you live around them and if you love your lives.”

it's expected, negotiating with any group was wrong in the first place (my opinion) cause the probability of a new group springing up is 100 percent. Exactly the way the miscreant collect deve where one group after collecting will disperse into forming numerous other groups for same purpose. U begin to wonder if Yar' Adua didn't give any amnesty or the ND region is now 10 times its population. Funny enough go to Warri, P/H, Yenagoa etc where the real ND citizens are u will see that they don't get a dime

Even with oyel money self , I have said it before Okowa is clueless since he assumed office there has been no real project executed in the entire Delta state
It will be unfair to blame Okowa who just came in. The past 2 successive governors basically grew up in the town but chose to fill their pockets instead. Ibori even used DLA and 'delta owned' Niger Cat to construct some roads that have since become dilapidated. But Uduaghan did next to nothing

This your response is part of what is the problem with Nigeria.
Inability to separate your emotions and sentiments from reality.

I neither hate nor love Okonjo-Iweala.
The questions I asked are valid questions any right-thinking Nigerian should be asking.

But obviously, we are so shallow-minded that we fail to hold our leaders, both past and present, accountable for their actions. We are so petty that we wear our emotions and sentiments on our sleeves and allow our politicians to sway us by mere words.

Well, we get the leaders we deserve sha.
A look at the number of likes and shares he got says a lot about people on this forum, a finance minister who had to resort to borrowing to pay salaries at the twilight of her tenure. Smh

You may as well extend your memory and nistalgia to the time when whites ruled Nigeria and things "worked" . you wrote this lengthy epistle with no mention of the causes of militancy, you compare lagos a place the represents the conspiracy against the Niger delta with warri a place that has suffered and is still suffering at the hands of hausa-fulani feudalists and their Yoruba accomplices, and you expect to be taken seriously. You want the owners of the oil to be content with welding and catering and even prostitution while the thieves cart away everything to their regions? Clap for yourself. Militancy was caused by marginalization and will continue until redress is made.
Aside Tompolo and a few amnesty billionaires who has militancy helped

The whites and the Hausa-Fulani..

What a thinking... Clap for yourselves.

When a cornered coward writes, it reeks of fear..
has these mindless blowing of pipelines and polluting and degrading the environment changed the ownership of these blocks. I was born and raised in Warri, my dad an artisan back then used to take flight from Benin to Warri due to affluence in the town. He was either working for a staff of NNPC, Shell, Gulf or Seismograph companies, Servicing companies just to mention a few. Our dream was going to school and working in these companies.Go to the town now u would not see a trace of these companies. In their place we now have few barely literate individuals who have become billionaires from violent agitations. I have a dream that one day my beloved city will bounce back but we need more of these re awakening

If u follow this election on twitter and Nairaland, you'll get the impression that Ize-Iyamu has already won the election. But if u come to Edo state, you'll know that Ize Iyamu can't win more than 6 local government areas. On this election postponement, there's more to it than meets the eye. How can a state that's safe enough to host the president just 3 days ago suddenly become unsafe for elections? What's the security situation in Edo state? Is it any worse than Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states in 2015? I'm in Edo and as far as I know, Edo is safe. The police should come clean with us.
Don't be surprised cos most of those on those platforms aren't from the state. Was at Egor, Ikpoba Okha, Oredo this week u will begin to wonder which Edo state they are talking about

IllegalMoney:
God bless u
Those holes that Oshiomole digged up across Benin city is causing serious problems to communities where those holes are located
Someone reading this will think the whole of Benin has these holes u are talking about. Let me educate u a little. The on going storm water project for Uwelu East starts at Uwelu Powerlines by Adolo College road through Uwelu spare parts mkt, Evbuotubu through Ekenwan road to Ogba river a total length of over 7 km comprising of both trapezoidal drains, single and double cell box culverts at different sections. Those HOLES as u call it are foundation trenches for these concrete structures. For that length of construction and with the bad state of the economy (where money is not available for work for months and don't forget that very rich states like Delta, Akwa Ibom who don't have such gigantic projects can't even pay saries for months) about two or three buildings after Ogidan barracks are some metres away from the eroding trenches and this is not unexpected. As of last week work is on going at both Evbuotubu axis by Norman Edwards schools and close to the beginning by Adolo College road. My friend do ur research and SAY NO TO HEARSAY

NextGovernor:
Is it only that road. Inside New Benin, Ugbo road, Ekenwan road are federal road too abi?

The problem with Benin is no proper drainage system. Oshiomole collected 150 billion nairn as loan for erosion control and heavy drainage project. Today non of the project is up to 20% in progress. He worsten the whole case by digging abandon holes everywhere and those holes are collapsing. Oshiomole is a scam.
Haba bros 150 billion for wherehuh Pls mention one project that is not upto 20 percent completion or even 50 percent. Must everything be about politics, naija youths wake up and do ur research. Don't just spew hearsays
PoliticsRe: Rain Turns Road To "River" In Benin This Evening by whizzler: 10:46pm On Jul 09, 2016
Benin city is a peculiar town as regards rain, I know that area very well. For all just typing ignorantly or out of political disagreement with the state government, to its credit has two drains on that road. By the main carriage and by the service lane. That area is the lowest part of that catchment and so it's always flooded by water right from Ugbowo and adjoining streets and also from areas before Uselu share. The storm water project which is on going will conveniently take care of this problem as it's twin cell box culvert now at textile mill junction will go through Otote down to Adolo College road. Another twin cell box culvert will now take the water from this area through traditional ground Uselu to meet the culvert at Otote/Adolo College road. I know this cos I was fortunate to see the design of the stormwater project currently on going and it will be safe to say it is the biggest erosion control project in Nigeria presently. Benin is a big city and almost every street has drainage/erosion problems. The present stormwater project is taking of only two out of over twenty catchment areas. Let's not politicise everything ok
