UN is evacuating all aids workers in Northern Borno.

Dikwa alone has been attacked 4 times this month. The terrorists know that they cannot hold it because it is very important Logistically to the military to supply other bases in the border area yet they keep attacking.
NA needs to increase numbers and defensive capabilities to make it extremely difficult for towns to be captured by the terrorists.

Like how many men can ISWAP/JAS mobilise at the same time? How many men do they deploy to attack most of this garrisons?

ISWAP is trying desperately to force the military to revert to defensive posture. They will attack anything at any time and anywhere. All convoys are likely targets. No convoy should leave garrisoned towns without eyes in the sky. Even if it is cheap drones, the military authorities should make it available. Movement of civilians should be suspended, all highways should be closed to the public etc. Dikwa will definitely be recaptured but the damages would have been done. Setbacks and all. In fact, the attack on Dikwa can be part of a multipronged attacks to dislodge garrisons in several towns while troops are reinforcing towns currently on attack.

There are reports of informants in those towns giving information to ISWAP outside. If possible, network connections should be off for some time.

Heard network access to the town was cut off. Also heard there is an ongoing battle to recapture the town. That was like an hour ago. Just be optimistic.

More useless than the police force is the Nigerian custom service. In fact they are no longer useless but now harmful. Nigeria is a major destination hub for smuggled weapons from Eastern Europe and all other parts of the world and a large percentage of these weapons pass through the ports and manned borders. Some of the shipments are even supervised by some officers of the custom service. Once you know a connect, you can arm and Armour an army within Nigeria.

I'm convinced that DHQ is determined not to do anything to counter the ambush tactics of BH/ISWAP that works virtually all the time. They are convenient with losing men to such attacks because many more will always be willing to join.
It is frustrating to see how slow every sector of the country is slow to change.
The convoy of the theater commander of operation lafiya dole was ambushed in Friday,soldiers died, nothing will still change.


The terrorists won't hold the town, they will withdraw soon after looting the town or the military will dislodge them and things will return back to square one. Nothing will be learnt and it will happen again.

I pray the aid workers will be safe in the bunkers they are hiding till the town is recaptured. They are the major targets of the terrorists.

The terrorists blended with the locals of Dikwa and attacked again this morning around 6.30am. Very little is known of the situation in the town but support is on the way.

If by now, northern governors are not closing down boarding schools in their respective states, then they are either stupid or are also benefiting from the series of abductions. Even FG should start considering closing down boarding schools even if it will only be temporary. If not, this is just the beginning. Every Tom dick and Harry will start thinking about it and even acting on it.

The government of Zamfara just announced that the girls are still in captivity.

The NAF can embark on a drone operation to terrorize the bandits by systemic elimination of their leaders. They know where this criminals are, they can work with other intelligence agencies to get real time Intel on the ground with drones on air 24/7 and when the opportunity presents itself, they strike out the leaders. Then they follow up by taking down whoever volunteers to lead after.

To be frank, the minister of Defense, NSA, DG DSS and the heads of other intelligence agencies needs to go. And then maybe a foreign police head should be contracted to reform the Federal Police. No one currently in that system can achieve any meaningful progress reforming that agency. Few months ago, the issue was lack of cooperation among the branches of the military, that has been resolved and the missing link now is intelligence. Then law enforcement too.
In fact I rarely see the DG of DSS and other intelligence agencies in any of the security meetings involving the president. Security meetings between the president and the governors is also almost non-existent. It is even as if there isn't any national security plan to confront the current and developing challenges. What exactly is the usefulness of the NSA.
And then, the military, especially the army needs to increase their numbers.

The government should employ the same tactics used in Borno state in the affected northwestern states. Locals living in isolated hamlets and villages should be encouraged to move to bigger cities and towns and their needs should be catered for in those towns (establishment of IDP camps). Important towns and cities should be heavily garrisoned with law enforcement officers. Trenches should be dug around them to limit access. This will heavily reduce attacks on soft targets that the bandits focus on. The government can then wait for the different factions of the bandits to destroy themselves while stealing resources from each other or use the military for clearance operations.

All governors were warned as far back as 2018 that the next crisis will be in the several forest reserves across the country that are the responsibility of the states. Very few of them cared. The federal government is also acting as if they are not bothered when the security of life of every citizen is their duty.

BREAKING: BOKO HARAM/ISWAP ERRONEOUSLY KILL OWN COMMANDER RESPONSIBLE FOR ATTACK ON NIGERIA TROOP IN MARTE
Terrorist snipers linked to the so-called Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), have reportedly mistakenly killed one of its own top Commander, Ba'ana Okocha, who claimed responsibility for Coordinating the recent Jihadist attack on Nigerian Military formation in Marte Local Government Area in Northeastern Borno state, Nigeria.

Impeccable sources who confirmed the incidence, said Okocha, known to be an indigene of Gamboru, was shot and killed alongside four other jihadists at a fortified headquarters of ISWAP - a location given as "Arinna Sorro". Okocha and his armed companions are said to have been wrongly identified by the ISWAP special treetop snipers as an approaching enemy from the Abubakar Shekau JAS faction.

Most JAS fighters were chased out of ISWAP strongholds. ISWAP created fortified camps where nobody was allowed to have without permission.

Other sources have attributed his death to the panic and apprehensiveness generated by the ongoing onward offensive by the Nigerian Military under Operations TURA TAKAI BANGO.
KILL SEVERAL BOKO HARAM JIHADISTS

A situation made severe by the continuation of the week-long highly-intensified offensive operations by troops of Operation Tura Takai Bango - an operation targeted at completely eliminating Boko Haram ISWAP terrorists in their strongholds in Sambisa forest, Mandara mountains, Timbuktu triangle and Lake Chad Basin Tunbuns. These relentless operations have pushed jihadist factional fighters and their families to migrate to other safer parts of North East of LakeChad to seek refuge.

These forced displacements caused by fleeing jihadists have generated a push back by other ISWAP jihadist factions following the banning of Abubakar Shekau in 2020 by the ISIS Shura Council.



Boko Haram and ISWAP continue to maintain an extensive operational network with local organised crime groups and other Al-Qaida and ISIS groups (JNIM and ISGS) in the triangle of Liptako Gourma (Sahel), Libya (AZWAJ) and Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

These groups now train ISWAP child soldiers in its newly established institution in Somalia known as "Darul Ilm". Fighters who graduate from these institutions were trained in ambush Operation, bomb-making and planting, and modern asymmetric warfare skills.

After capturing marte, what next? The soldiers go and relax and boko come and collect it again and another 48hrs ultimatum would be issued again and more men turn apart...all going in endless circle...Is there no other way?

There is an ongoing offensive and its in phases. The current phase is targeting the JAS faction and has dislodge them from their strongholds in the sambisa and Alargano forests. The next phase will be starting soon and will target ISWAP faction in the northern Borno axis. All troops can't be on the offensive at the same time, there isn't enough air support to go round and it will also be very difficult to resupply and so on. Also there is need for holding force to prevent liberated territories from being reoccupied by the terrorists once the soldiers return to their bases. That was the mistake the military made in its 2014-2015 and 2018 offensive. They have to garrison the towns and villages and so on. If the other paramilitary institutions were functioning, there wouldn't be need for heavy military garrisons and there will be more troops available for offensive operations.

There are reports that the town has been recaptured from the terrorists. I pray it's true.

The operation is very dangerous and also very crucial to the success of the northern Borno operation that will commence soon. The offensive operation may stall by end of April when the raining season is expected to begin if all objectives are not achieved before then. It is a race against time and ISWAP is trying desperately to ensure that the military doesn't meet up.

Marte isn't a super camp, it had about 800 soldiers stationed there but is one of the few locations that are prioritized by the military for air support whenever it is attacked. The terrorists attacked from the midst of displaced people moving into the town so troops couldn't shoot back. In fact the air support deployed couldn't do much. The troops had to retreat leaving several weapons to the terrorists. The attack also came from a different direction from former attacks.
The mistake the military made is that they should have increased the garrison in the town since 2020. It has been under attacks several times in the last 11 months alone. The terrorists were determined to capture it and are also determined to hold it as they are now holding the population hostage and using them as human shields to prevent any meaningful attack from the military. The military is now very focused on recapturing marte. Some parts of Dikwa were captured by the terrorists but they couldn't hold it, the military recaptured all parts less than 24hrs after the initial attack.

Also, I believe efforts to rescue the Kagara boys distracted the military a lot. To much concentration on the rescue operation especially on the part of the airforce likely resulted in setbacks over the weekend.

According to an intelligence source, soldiers were attacked at their unit on the northern axis of Dikwa by several light trucks mounted with Heavy Machine Guns (HMGs).

“The terrorists suspected to be aided by informants approached the base from two axis,” the source told PR Nigeria.

“One of the groups attacked from the northern axis towards Marte road, while the other group approached the base from the northeastern axis towards Gajibo road.”

“The troops on the ground had got a signal of the attempted invasion and retreated to Ajiri Community in the Southern axis, where they relaunched counter-attacks with troops from Gulumba” the source said.

“A Ground Force Close Air Support (CAS) component deployed also attacked the terrorists from the air destroying their guns trucks and makeshift camps.”

The Dikwa incident is almost like that of marte in January and the other town that was attacked about a week ago. Weaker units withdraws/retreats and move back in when they are reinforced or there is air support. The only problem is that they are leaving a window for the terrorists to cart away weapons and rearm themselves. DHQ has stopped sharing battle footages but the terrorists will definitely upload pictures/videos if they achieved anything tangible.

Also note that virtually all attacks on towns and garrisons since the beginning of the year are by ISWAP and they are always particular about looting the armoury. They might be preparing to defend their strongholds while the military is still busy with JAS and/or weaken/distract the military offensive.

Not only Dikwa but also Marte. Twin attacks to divert attention from the offensive. Some air assets should be on standby to prevent any surprises.

A temporary solution to Nigeria’s problems is intense 24/7 surveillance, search and destroy operations of the total area of land north from the line drawn east and west fromthe confluence point of the Niger and Benue rivers. That's approximately 715000km². The government should better start investing in ISR platforms and recon drones.

Most likely propaganda. Even ISIS central have been unable to down helicopters such as the ones deployed. What did they use to shoot it down? RPG? Lol even MANPADS have very low probability of shooting such down.

If ever there is an helicopter incident, it will most likely be due to technical issues. But then you can't be sure of anything.

By now the media should be over saturated with videos of the wreckages if it were true.
