But the company's business development manager pleaded guilty to knowingly transmitting illegally derived funds. He may have admitted under oath to evidences that that nailed his 2 bosses.

Unless you have valid proof that they haven't contravened any law then it is you who's clearly calling the the racist card.

There are numerous cases where Western Union had been fined hundreds of millions of dollars too.

And now that's the problem with Nigerians and why the country is likely to be in a turmoil. What you've written up there doesn't make any sense and more than 100 nigerians liked your posts.

casualobserver:

What exactly do you mean by encourage? Let me explain it to you as someone who has a British passport has live abroad for many years but returned home.

The truth is life over there is a sort of bondage for someone with a Nigerian mindset. You are constantly working to pay bills , no matter how much you earn your expenses rise such that you are a slave to your job, the system entraps you in ways I can’t describe here for sake of brevity, unless you are amongst the few who can establish a means of income in the multiples of hundreds of thousands be it dollars be it pounds. Otherwise yes you will eat well and enjoy certain basics that may not be available in Nigeria for most Nigerians but there are many negative intangibles especially for someone raised in Nigeria.

Unless you are a high paying job, $100-200k + life is not a bed of roses. Even at that level you are struggling but can afford things to mitigate the struggles like holidays back home or other destinations. In theory you will be better off than in Nigeria initially but life is such that once you overcome the basic sufferings back in Nigeria, the intangible negatives start to matter. I am back in Nigeria and I wouldn’t go back. I am lucky I can travel out when I am tired of Nigeria but I will never again live abroad….unless I am forced to. With all the problems of Nigeria, there is no place like home. There is a sense of freedom and self worth in Nigeria you have that you lose when you go abroad, that’s one of the intangibles I talk about. No matter what you will always be a nobody abroad….that’s another!!!

Would I encourage anyone to move abroad. It’s a hard question because you will pay a huge psychological price for moving abroad, one you will not understand until you get there and one I can never explain to you until you have experienced it. What I would say is, if you want to go abroad, have a mission and come back with if 5 years!!! I won’t encourage or discourage anyone!!! I wouldn’t actively encourage anyone because I don’t want to be the one responsible for selling you a dream that will not match your reality!!!!

Which country did you go to?

The internet is your best link not humans. To be fair to them no human being has the power to take you to their host country as you'll still need to subject yourself to an immigration process. Nevertheless I'll tell you a short story.

A friend reached out to me that he had been admitted into a university in toronto and needed a place to stay. His tuition was in the region of $50,000 and he was planning to apply for a student visa with the hope of being able to work and pay the fees. I did not want to discourage him but I knew his plan was not a good one but felt if I told him what I thought he'll think otherwise. I sent him links for one bed apartments in toronto (all starting from $1,800 monthly). He asked if he couldnt get anything cheaper but I told him he could rent a room in someone's apartment for cheaper. His budget was $500 monthly which I couldn't find. He later asked if he could stay in the outskirts and I suggested that he checks the cost of transportation from the outskirts to the city. Rents in the entire greater toronto area are high.
In addition I susggested that he should try and pay his tuition so he can work for his rent/upkeep as no 20 hour a week job will be sufficient to finance a $50k fee. He cut contact with me and told his senior brother I was trying to discourage him from coming.

My reality was that I moved to toronto on a PR not study permit. I had a job offer and someone accommodated me for two weeks. During the two weeks I slept on a couch which was not comfortable but then I was determined not to spend out of the USD10,000 I travelled here with. I opened a bank account and got a credit card with a $4,000 limit. In the third week I paid $1,454 for an AirBnB . I also received my first bi-weekly salary in the third week and have been earning a good income every two Fridays. I later rented my place outside the city jointly with a friend for the time being till I was able to get a credit score which is required to rent an apartment independently.

I reached out to an old friend who had moved to canada 10 years ago with less than a thousand dollars and he told me his canadian girlfriend took a line of credit on his behalf and gave him to pay his fees while he repaid her back when he graduated and started working. But he mentioned that toronto is a much more expensve city than where he studied at.

So again I'll suggest you try to get as much information as possible from the web . The realities may be discouraging but I still feel canada offers a more conducive environment for a young person than nigeria

What kind of job did you get? And did you have a skill before leaving? Plus what year are you talking about

it isn't easy anywhere, but an hardworking person would surely make it there especially the popular countries. Those people that are working for more than 9hrs here and are earning less than 100k if they were abroad, they will earn far better than this and live a more comfortable life than they do here. My friend in Germany was able to build his house, buy a car and still live comfortable there in less than 3years, but when he was in Nigeria earning like 130k he couldn't do the same
Where did he build the house? Nigeria or Germany?

Very simple to operate. Even unlettered man can operate it. Painters will naturally surround you when they see a functional oven. Some oven collect 10-15k to paint a car and it's possibly you paint 5-10 cars daily. You can also earn money directly from customers who have link with you.
Please, do you have an idea of the how much the oven cost?

Take that money go rent a 4 bedroom duplex in lekki for about 5m, furnish it tastefully and install solar power system then lease it out for shortlet rental/Airbnb. You can make 300-350k per night, depending on your location and in a month you can make half your capital.

Do that and thank me later.

yes there are opportunities. However, like they said you need like 2 to 3 years to be confident. Go to kaggle dot com and look at projects to practice with. Learn data pipelines, machine learning and etl. Practice with pycharm everyday. To see your plots use the terminal.
I don’t know about data science, but data analysis can be learnt within 8 months if he doesn’t have any other job. If he’s fully committed to it.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What Happened After I Lied On My CV by willian10: 1:21pm On May 22, 2022
MeghaneMorgane:
Congratulations to you. Many people exaggerate their CV.

If you go to a new country, even if you have never worked in that country, you need to put that you have some experience working in that country. If not, you don’t really stand a chance.

I’m of the opinion that you should put anything that you think will get you an interview with the HR. Anything at all. When you get to the HR, then the table is set for you to defend everything you wrote on that CV. Also, remove anything that will make anyone prejudge you. For those outside Nigeria, write the name of the school you graduate from but don’t write it is located in Nigeria. You can write the city or state but never write the country.

Infact, remove anything that will give people the impression that you are Nigerian. Use your English name instead of your native name. Immediately you have gotten a chance with the HR, then you can restore to default setting. That is my own take anyway. Job hunting is a very aggressive stage and you need to remove anything that will give people a bias impression of you to the extent that they wouldn’t call you for an interview.

"If you go to a new country, even if you have never worked in that country, you need to put that you have some experience working in that country. If not, you don’t really stand a chance. "..... Can u explain this better? cos I don't understand the kind of lie such person wants to lie

Programming / Re: What you must consider before becoming a Data Scientist by willian10: 3:56am On May 14, 2022
Professor2196:
I am a computer engineering undergrad and I have been studying machine learning for a cumulative period of one year and I still consider myself a newbie, because anytime I think I have reached the end of the road with a concept, I discovered that there are 10 more roads waiting behind it and so on. Through my relatively short journey, I have gone through quite a few rough patches and have gotten stuck in a few quagmire, I have gotten through them with the help of authors from their books I read, helpful answers from stack overflow and through pure grits. I have gained insights that I think would be helpful to my fellow newbies who are not far behind me.

Passion isn’t everything, just as in the real world, so it is in the programming world. There are challenges that can and will try their possible best to crush the life out of that passion. Most people who go into data science are mesmerized by what can be achieved by it, what has been achieved by it, which leads them to drool at the prospects of what they can achieve by it when they use it.

And as the bible passage says “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”, their passion grows stronger the more they read articles of amazing projects and developments going on in data science. Yes, they are prepared to study harder, sleep late night and all other things that people who are passionate about something do to reach a competency level, they have never been more passionate about anything else in their life before.

You may have gotten to the stage where you are now purely based on the strength of that passion, if you don’t find something else to support it, it will literally be impossible to go far.

Most newbie never for once consider that their own computer could be their greatest challenge. Data science is the only field of programming where the most emphasis is placed your computer processing capabilities. Other programming field which are near-like instantaneous like Web, Desktop (GUI) and Database development are not overly dependent on your RAM and processor speed, they can easily be developed on a low-end computer just as like on a high-end computer.

When I say low-end computers, those whose computers' have over 16gb RAM and additional GPU card are not included, I only refer to those who use computers with no more than 8GB of RAM and 1GB or less of GPU. Over 80% of developers in Nigeria uses computers with these spec, and with computer of 4GB of RAM and no GPU been the overwhelming majority.

Through my journey in studying Machine learning, my faithful companion is a Dell Windows 10 4GB RAM 2th Generation Corei5 Intel processors with no GPU. The beginning journey was extremely smooth, training on the iris, Boston housing datasets was with near-like instantaneous speed (or close enough to it). It was amazing, all my datasets could fit into memory, any error occurred could be easily be debugged, and most often than not, it could be a syntax error or a dataset not properly formatted, containing values that trips up the machine learning model (as I said easily overcome). But as my expertise increased one particular error became increasingly frequent, the Numpy Out of Memory error. I could no longer run codes written by authors without generating that error.

Obviously, The authors uses computer with a much higher RAM, and I bet, additional GPUs to execute their codes.

The out of memory error became so ubiquitous that we became old friends, it got to the point that whenever I run a code from a textbook and it didn't raise the error, I become suspicious and wonder if I may have made a mistake in implementing the author's code.

This was an almost unsurmountable obstacle for me, to the extent it forces me to give up on projects when their datasets couldn't all be loaded into memory because some machine learning model needed them all at once (e.g non-linear models) or that the dataset could be loaded into memory but there is no space left for the model to train it parameters (which is even worse).

The spirit (your passion) indeed is willing, but the flesh (your computer) is weak. - Matt 26: 41

This error forced me to gain a deeper understanding of memory management, I no longer see data types as oh those, I now say what data type with the minimum memory footprint will best represent my dataset with minimal loss of information. I adopted functional programming paradigm when executing tasks (i.e. I execute instructions in functions and return the needed value(s), leaving python to delete variables arbitrary created during execution when it has run out of scope ) to prevent leaving around unused variables that is hogging up memory.

Thank GOD for Deep learning algorithm who with all their power are not greedy enough to want all the data at once but are always hungry for chunks of them [no matter the size], and for Tensorflow data API and Numpy memmap function who provides the means to feed such chunks.

Believe me, if you persevere, you will become a more tenacious machine learning engineers than your peers who cruise with their huge RAM computer, creating a one-hot encoded arrays with a np.int64 data type, or worse not knowing what data type was used to build that array.

Should you eventually acquire a huge RAM computer, you would still maintain that frugality in assigning RAM resources.

I urge all machine learning beginners to look within themselves carefully and consider if they have the grit needed to forge on when their passion no longer pull them forward, not wasting months instead going on ahead only to then back down when faced with overwhelming obstacle, months that would have been used to learn programming in other fields (like web dev) because they think they can fake it. If you read this and still think you have what it takes, then forge on, see every obstacle as an opportunity to learn some new technical skills. Use tools in ways it wasn't designed to be used, if that still doesn't work, create your own toolset.

God loves you!
Is it more difficult than web devepment?cos I just started learning python few weeks ago and I'm enjoying the lectures, atleast the few things I have learnt so far

I think he meant the alimony, sharing of property and stuffs.

Seems you don't know how men fear divorce abroad.Let pogba's wife divorce him and see how her name will enter forbes list among rich women.

The reason Will Smith couldn't divorce his wife was because under Californian law,he will lose 50% of his wealth to her.
Let me educate u, u will hardly see a man who is already rich before marriage with no prenup, most people you see with their spouse taking substantial share of their properties are the ones who aren’t wealthy before marriage. Good examples are Jef Bezos and Bill Gates, they were not rich before marriage, in fact… Amazon was created after Bezos marriage.
But u see people like Elon Musk and already rich before marriage? They hardly lose 5% of their wealth to divorce settlement cos they’ve their prenup in place and yes that prenup needs to be fair… u can’t do prenup without losing anything if you’re wealthy
