fasho01: I anticipated a good read that's why I opened this thread. I had no intention to comment but the comments I am seeing has forced me to say this

Sm years back I had this frnd who was 17 & I was only few years older than her. While waiting for admission into uni, we were both idle & she would come spend the whole day with me as I was always home alone for most of the day. I enjoyed her company & all but she always gave me green light. She even brought blue film to my place once to shw hw serious she ws bt I ddn't give in to her.

No doubt she moved away from me when she realised wudn't do the needful. She gained admission into uniben, 'stepped up', even dated a popular musician, was in his video shoot, moved with the happening guys, had 2 cars & started forming for me. My friends mocked me that if I had banged her then she won't be forming for me & them but I didn't feel bad about that.

To cut long story short.. She called me early this year to thank & appreciate me for not taking advantage of her. She keeps in touch with me & always tells me how she respects me. She now works & has seen it all. She regrets the life she lived wishes she could turn back the hands of time

rallymento: The earlier ASUU realizes that they are fighting a lost battle the better for them. More than Enuf qualified graduates are agitating to replace them once they are sacked. By the way all thesw lectures are not willing to improve on their scheme of of work, they are not willing to improve their knowledge banks, they are so so redundant and keep teaching us what they learnt when during their days in University. I think GEJ should retire any lecture above 52yrs and give the younger ones the opportunity to put things right B4 any concrete agreement should be signed,If not, Education system will get worse even if they receive 100% of our national budget.

howfarwhatagwan: All of you complaining about ASUU or hurling insults at them if you really want to go back to school like you claim then simply come together and carry out a peaceful demonstration to let the government know that you need to return to school and they should meet ASUU's demands.... of course you will not Nigerians all we do is rant all the time no action if every Nigerian student and even parents had risen up when this strike started to fight we will not be talking about 5 months strike. I said it before and will say it again as long as we refuse to acknowledge that this is actually a fight between FGN and Nigerian citizens but rather see it as FGN Vs ASUU then our education system will go no where.

This type of welfare scheme is what the western world provides for her citizens. It is a stipend but in advanced countries helps to keep youths from crimes and other vices. That's why most people want visas(welfare till you find your feet). The money is usually very small. Real work must be seen to pay better.
However this is a fantastic initiative, I did not know it will start with 20k. Infact I was of the opinion that so as to include all unemployed youth (non graduates and illiterates can be unemployed too): the money can be 7.5k. If you get a job placement , it should be contributory. Employers 7.5k and government say 10k.
Though small it will reduce vices. We should give an opportunity to work. It works in other countries. It could transform Nigeria
