emmahoney:What if his proposed Phd is environmental toxicology? Anyway, I understand the angle you are coming from but I must say that is not universally true. I have been both internal and external jury member selected to review applicants for PhD funding, specifically I have reviewed funding application for EU MSCA. There are set of criteria attached to each funding, applicants will be evaluated against each of the criteria. Each funding body will have its own criteria for eligibility. At PhD level, full funding will tend to be awarded on academic merit, independent research output (publications in reputable journals and results communication), background skills (which you mentioned), laboratory and field skills demonstrated by the applicants, relevancy of the applicant proposal to the supervsor funding research area, there are also some that take into account financial background and other criteria such as gender. So all above goes into consideration while evaluating the applicants for funding. In February 2018, I was contacted to serve as external reviewer for applicant from Ethiopia who applied for a PhD Funding in Germany. Her undergraduate is mathematics, her master is health care management and she applied for Phd funding in Computational biology......after considering all the laid criteria for the funding and my personal experience... I voted and wrote positive note regarding her application which I believed the other reviewers did the same and she was awarded the funding. |
emmahoney:Can you provide further information regarding Why funding for PhD in environmental chemistry will be difficult? |
igbokwesampson:If you have opportunities to be admitted into a well-facilitated university, I will recommend a PhD in Material Science if it will suit your future goals. These days, society is moving towards solving a multitude of problems due to a rapidly growing and ageing population, there is greater demand for more effective, environmental-friendly and cost-effective materials for: 1. Solving the environment and climate change 2. Harvesting renewable and sustainable energy 3. For advanced materials for healthcare use 4. Biotechnology, aerospace and transport system 5. Devices for communications and information technology Best wishes! |
Anazp:We currently have about 25 universities registered and approved by ministry of education in north Cyprus and only two (EMU & EUL) are government funded universities.... all others are private and few are top universities from Turkey having campus in Cyprus (METU, ITU)......you can visit GAU website to see there recognition/accreditation and ranking that will give you a better clue to its standing! |
frankike1:The semester class starts already, meanwhile admission for next semester is now open. Undergrad is 2600$ per year and master is 2175$ for entire program. |
Anazp:Yes you can use...First call the international office and get your acceptance letter and also the confirmation of payment. After that, contact my email for the OKTB. Best wishes |
Anazp:Call their international office number or registerar office. But considering that lots of students are waiting for visa at embassy, I doubt you can resume this semester again. |
linked:Personally I think 2 and 3 are very good for Africa and the majority of the developing countries. You may focus on any of these. Meanwhile, to fine-tune your proposal, check science direct for each topic see the one that has more or fewer resources, check the reports to see the areas that are frequently researched and the part missing. Focus on the missing links. Best wishes! |
mustyy:Nope is not real impact factor.... The real impact factor is computed when the journal is indexed in the aforementioned databases and in most cases it takes 3-4 years for any new journal to be issued impact factor if belongs to reputable publisher. Take note: impact factor is not just the only metric to qualify a journal ... When you want to publish always visit clarivate website to see if the journal exist there and then you can see the genuine indexes/coverage of the journal. http://mjl.clarivate.com Best wishes! |
mustyy:A quality journal has a peer review system. Indexed under SCI, SCI-expanded, or SSCI. Can be found in Web of Science/Thomson Reuters database. Also, has verifiable metrics such as impact factor, Citescore. The journal you mentioned above don’t have those listed characters.....so Please always consider publishing in journals from Elsevier, Springer, Wiley, Taylor, Nature, Emrald, Sage etc .... Best wishes |
linked:Good day, Very nice academic journey you have. To be able to suggest topics for you, I like to know the title of research you worked on during your MSc. Also, you said you have broad research interests, can you list 3-5 of this so as to have a clear and concise picture of your research areas. |
ejibaba:Congrats for your recently accepted work, keep going upward! Yearly, I usually have a target which I strictly follow. I ensure that when am working on a project or a particular research study, am able to collect data that will enable atleast 2-3 publication of research articles per project/study. Averagely, I submit 2-3 manuscripts per month, some get accepted, while some get rejected then I check whatever the reviewers suggest and resubmit. For my end; we are paid 1500-2500$ per paper published in Q1/SCI-based journals as a token of reward... |
Goodlucknigeria:First, article publication in reputable journals goes through several stages which is beyond the power of the author and in most cases the editor. The longest stage is the peer reviewing stage which varies between 15 days to 5 months, revision stage, acceptance stage, proofing and production stage, online article publication stage. All reputable journals pass through these stages irrespective of the publishing house (Elsevier or springer or Taylor’s or Willey). No fixed time or days and it is Daylight lie that it takes 6 months for Elsevier to get back to you. It maybe as short as 1 month or even longer than 10 months....no fixed days ....That’s how publication in reputable journals goes. 80% if my papers come from Elsevier, 15% from Springer and 5% from Taylor’s & Francis. From my experience I publish 1-4 months and in 2018 I published 12 papers, 2019 Target is 20 papers 65% reached while others under review. I think your focus should be on the quality, significance, innovation and industrial applications of your publication. Only fake Indian journals and the likes publish in 10 days and such articles published in predatory and fake journals are strongly frowned upon and lowers the reputation of the authors/academic involve. All well ranked universities focus more in reputable and quality research output in well recognized journals irrespective of publication time. Please don’t listen to excuses from failures ... such always give negative energy to everything they could not achieve ... Best wishes |
Goodlucknigeria:This is really great to hear Nigerian universities are now adopting SCI-based reputable journals. This will drastically improve their international reputations and ranking globally. Please take note; 98% of subscription-based journals (meaning not open access) is free to publish. I have published over 60 SCI-based journals and never pay for publication in my life. Please visit Elsevier Journals type likely research title, related journals will pop out. Select the ones that match your field and check under authors guide, you will see the ones that are subscriptions based then you can publish there because they are free. For instance below journals are free, you can search more by following the link here: https://journalfinder.elsevier.com Best wishes!

darkelf:It’s very nice to see you are starting your research and the research areas you have chosen are interesting. To learn how to comduct research, design research methodology, results analysis and discussions, and scientific publications.......you will need to spend time on research articles. You must be able to access scientific contents online 1. Visit the following websites: science direct, natures research, springer journal, Taylor & Francis journals, Wiley journals etc In these sites: type keywords related to the research you want to conduct. When related research articles pop up, download at least 5-10 if possible in each site. What will you do with these downloaded research articles? 1. Study how the articles are structured 2. Focus first on the research methods described and see how the research were carried out 3. Note specific reactions/methods names (learn more on it), try to understand what is happening in each stage 4. Visit the instrumental/characterization section: note each instrument used and why. 5. Then visit the results and discussion sections, see how the obtained results and observed trends are discussed. 6. Then see through the introduction, how the literature or earlier published works have been linked to the research problem, the drawbacks, significance/innovation and approach you intend to take so as to curtail earlier drawbacks or improve existing methods. Then check how conclusions/summaries are usually written. By the time you follow like 20 related articles, and some or all of the steps above you will get used to how research is to be conducted and methods related to your research. Lastly to publish your work; you can follow same procedure and structure your work and you can also read this link, comment and see the reference books/articles to aid you: 2. https://www.elsevier.com/connect/7-steps-to-publishing-in-a-scientific-journal Best wishes |
mustyy:That’s fantastic. I have worked on many agro wastes and I have enhanced their adsorptive capacity for various pollutants. You can let me know which you are interested, which adsorption system (batch or column) you want to use, which pollutant you are considering, single or multiple pollutants, laboratory/simulated or real wastewater, how you intend to carry out the regeneration and reuse of the adsorbent, which kinetics, isotherm and thermo studies you are considering, will you be doing data optimization to enhance the parameters for industrial use? You are aware the adsorption is not a destructive tech so what happens to the spent adsorbents ? You can reply here let people gain as well.. |
Higihaga:Thank you, so much appreciation! |
mustyy:I am happy to learn that you have interest in water treatment. There are various techniques ranging from membrane treatment technology, advance oxidation processes and adsorption etc. am ready to guide you.... Best wishes ! |
A recent Scientific publication from my lab Research work: Due to increasing water pollution attributed to anthropogenic and biotic activities, there is an increasing need to treat wastewater from industries before discharging into water bodies. Here, we designed a small scale system using waste banana peels to treat industrial water containing toxic metal ions. The system is suitable to treat 100 L of metal ion polluted water within 90 mins and the cost of the adsorbent is 9.5usd/kg. Researcher: This work was designed in my lab and carried out by my PhD student. Funding: The incentive for the published work is around 600k (naira). Lab: This work is carried out at the Eastern Mediterranean University.

jubrilx:Currency depends largely on location; 95% of the houses in Famagusta charges in lira, while 98% of houses charges British pounds in Girne, and Lefkosia has mixed charges ranging from lira to euro. You can come with raw cash and support it with card withdrawals. Charges on Nigerian cards varies and I think your bank is in the best position to tell you their charges if the card is used abroad. |
Emmex0804:Hi, Most universities (98%) in Turkey don't accept HND for a master degree. About 2 universities in Cyprus accept HND but none of them offers Estate management nor international trade and logistics. Students are issued only temporary student permits and you can only get permanent residence after many years if you have property or marry a citizen. |
Yungsaint80:If you are using ok-to-board you don’t need all those authentication. Go back few pages to see what exactly needed for OKTB. |
Blarkbody:No you don’t need that. |
Numero123:It’s processed by Turkish airline, provided its approved by the airline none of our students have had issues in either port of exit or entry. |
bee2me:Wait for almost two weeks hopefully the embassy will call you. If not, then get in contact with me so you can fly with ok-to- board (this allows you travel to Cyprus). Best wishes! |
Samadhii:There about 20 universities in north Cyprus and more than 100 in Turkey, majority offer scholarship you can do google search for requirements and how to apply. Full scholarship may be scarce as majority of the university is privately owned and applicants need to be top student to be considered. Bets wishes |
Damsonkc:I replied, sent to airline and confirmed they are ok! |
Blarkbody:Here you go:

Olumighty2038:Visit the Belarus embassy website or their office at Abuja for student visa application and procedures. Best wishes! |
jubrilx:Yes majority of the agents and even students turned agent do collect agency fee in most cases is equivalent to one month rent. However, this depends on the region, such act is prevalent in Girne and Lefkosia; it’s less common Magusa. If Students get direct contact with the landlord then this is usually not the case. The main things to consider in accommodation that new students need to ensure before moving in are : 1. Ensure all electric and water bills are paid by asking for latest payment bills before moving in. 2. Pictures of current state of the apartment interior and major facilities should be taken before moving in as the usual excuse given when students are packing out. 3. Get to know the maximum allowable person that can stay in the apartment/flat. 4. Ensure your flatmate/room mate is not into internet fraud or drug business. |
KingSatan:Okay Ethiopia airline appears to be the cheaoyes for that day, however, other airline like Etihad, Emirates and Turkish goes but more expensive and they don’t have issues with one way. Also, since this isn’t his first time, if his residency permit shown to them then I personally don’t see any reason for return. Can you specify to them that he is not first time flyer to this place and will be staying for longer due to his education. Becos some of the airline specify return Ticket mostly for new students/traveler in case of deportation. The other way round is buy 1 week return if that will be accepted, that’s what I usually do for my student to save cost. |
