OPINION:
Currently now, i enjoy only 0.1% of public electricity. But every month end it will rise to 0.2% of electrical supply, due to Power company staff's selfish act to go round and get electricity bills.
When so many minor African countries are enjoying 95% of public electricity.
Nigeria still remains the Giant of Africa by speech and not by action.
MY QUESTION NOW IS: Should i continue to pay for public electricity? Cos its very painfull here! |

Politics › Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Attah, Don Etiebet Dump PDP For APC by Wisdytech(op): 9:59pm On Mar 24, 2015 |
http://brainnewsng.com/former-akwa-ibom-state-governor-obong-attah-don-etiebet-dump-pdp-for-apc/Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Victor Attah and Atuekong Don Etiebet who are both members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees have declared their support for the All Progressives Congress.
The duo made the switch, which is interpreted to mean dumping President Goodluck Jonathan who is the presidential candidate of the PDP, during a rally held by the Campaign Organization of the APC Governorship Candidate, Obong Umana Okon Umana at the Ibibio Park grounds in Uyo yesterday.
At the APC rally, Obong Attah and Etiebet respectively, raised the hands of Obong Umana and stated that, they were no longer interested in the PDP having found an alternative in the opposition party.
The defection of the PDP chieftains did not come as a surprise to observers, as both men had been associating with the opposition in the buildup to the General Elections, following their grudge over the defeat of their preferred governorship aspirants by the PDP Standard Bearer, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel at the December 8, 2014 primaries.
Commenting on the development, a public affairs analyst, Mr Ifiok Anderson, dismissed the move as another futile journey to nowhere.
Anderson re-called that earlier in 2011, Obong Attah had similarly raised the hands of the then governorship candidate of the opposition, Action Congress of Nigeria, now defunct, Senator John Akpan Udoedehe, but that did not change the fortunes of the latter, as he was defeated by the incumbent, Governor Akpabio.
The analyst argued that Attah had allowed his morbid hatred for his successor to blind him, even
in joining forces with his erstwhile, Commissioner of Finance, Obong Umana
Okon Umana who betrayed him. He however, added that the people of Akwa Ibom would make their choice on who should govern them. https://brainnewsng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Obong-victor-attah-AKS.jpg |
Education › UNICAL Fumigates Hostels After Five Years by Wisdytech(op): 9:30pm On Mar 24, 2015 |
https://brainnewsng.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/unical-fumigation.pngBy Ekemini Raymond,
As part of the preparations to welcome to fresh students admitted for the 210/2015 academic session of the University of Calabar, the office of the Students Union Director of Welfare, Comrade Alawa John has fumigated the entire hostels in the institution.
The fumigation exercise came as a result of the recent complaints by the students over the increased number of the bush rats fondly called OKON CALABAR, and giant size cockroaches competing for survival with students in the hostels.
This according to some of the students was making life difficult for them, as rats contaminates their foods on daily bases, while the giant cockroaches puts dirt on their clothes routinely.
Apart from the domestic damages caused by these rodents, it is not medically advisable, according to some medical students who spoke to us, to live with cockroaches in the house, as they are said to be vectors of numerous diseases.
The SUG Director of Welfare, Comrade John Alawa, a final year student in the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, explained the need for the fumigation, saying it is to provide a clean and healthy environment for the students especially the newly admitted students.
He further stated that the fumigation exercise was one of his main target for the students, owing to the fact that he is a medical student.
The SUG President, Comrade Ajang Emmanuel commended the Vice Chancellor of the University for attaining to the plight of the students, especially at this critical time, where we have new intakes into the University.
Meanwhile some of the students who spoke to newsmen applauded the school management and the Director of Welfare for the intervention, while some expressed displeasure over how sudden and prompt the exercise came with it’s attendant offensive odor. http://brainnewsng.com/unical-fumigates-hostels-after-five-years/ |
