The Lagos state govt. should release statistics of road accidents caused by over-speeding along those designated routes with camera for validation. My instinct is telling me that overall goal is exploitation of car owners for more revenue generation, as to the lies that "this system is not designed to be punitive but to encourage responsible driving behaviour and reduce the rate of accidents on our roads. The goal is simple: to save lives, protect property, and create an orderly transportation environment,” Please since when government start to like we citizens? How many lives have they empowered and what percentage compared to total population of lagosians? What is lagos government doing to reduce cost of living, create employment opportunities and make housing/ accommodation cheaper for lagosians? The answer to these questions would reveal how truly the government cares about citizens because I cannot be fooled. The speed camera initiative is good if the intention is clearly to safeguard the lives of road users and not majorly for revenue drive. And it is expected that various roads in question must be marked and boldly written with said speed limits (60km/h, 80km/h) for drivers to be aware while driving on the roads. A new initiative warrants sensitization, awareness and publicity over a period of time via all media with different road signage as well. The penalty or fines for offenders should reflect the true intentions behind such initiatives by being flexible and for me, N50,000 is ridiculous and over priced. What is the the minimum wage in Nigeria? N70,000! Rather, the benchmark of N10,000 for first time offenders and N20,000 for repetitive offenders should be reconsidered. Also, I like the fact that there is room for contesting these traffic allegations with proof! The responsibility of a good government is to make living conducive and lives meaningful, in the interest of growth and development of the state with little or no poverty amongst the citizens under sound redistribution of wealth and resources of the state. |
At this point, almost 20 years of MTN data patronage has ended. Nigerians, kindly suggest another telco with good service at a reasonable price. Please! |
Tax does not develop a nation, high productivity of people, goods and service does! The copy and paste policies being implemented by Tinubu's administration will keep poverty rate higher as IMF gains more if Nigeria remained undeveloped with debt trap. |
Are there no black americans in the crowd? |
Nigerians will reject and protest this, if the report is true. Infact, the demonstration will be more than ENDSARS and all politicians will suffer it. |
A team of researchers in China have just discovered the cure for type 2 diabetics. It is a welcome development and we need more discoveries to better the lives of the people. I noticed at a point someone amongst them mentioned " Jesus" while laughing, there was someone wearing yellow that was uncomfortably possessed in action! Who was that person? How come she reacted immediately the name " Jesus" was mentioned? Just curious |
I am glad Nigeria is not inclusive! The vaccine in question will cause more harm than good. Know this, have peace because depopulation agenda by some few wealth guys... |
Let me start by commending Air Peace for showing FG right way to serving Nigerians. The government realised her failure to airlift stranded Nigerians in Sudan late and will not allow Air Peace take the glory as usual. However, it is better late than never! We should endeavour to do what is right at all time swiftly. Well done to FG and Air Peace for service to Nigerians |
The camera also caught my plate number few days ago, accussed me of driving with expired insurance and fined me N20,000 as first offender which I contested via their website and in person at VIS headquarters. I was cleared because I presented the old insurance doc. which was still valid only on that day as the last day of expiration with the new one I paid for on the same day which covers till 2024. Fine was cleared and I am not an offender! 20k in this era, no be beans to dash govt. |
I saw how Nigerians showed love, respect and appreciation towards arrival of Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi, during campaign visit to Computer Village, Ikeja Lagos. Without inducement, Nigerians followed him around singing " Obi, Obi, Obi... " Campaign in motion!

The same noise pollution was the reason why the Lagos state govt. close down Oando & Mobil filling stations at Maryland, only to see another, Timca filling station built newly, few buildings away several months after. Noise pollution indeed! |
rad8:I beg to disagree that it is for the good of Nigerians! Nigerians have greatly lost confidence in Insurance, compared to banking, as a result of past sharp practises regarding claims. Also, people are subjected to unnecessary T&Cs hidden ambiguously under contract policy signed by respective customers. If government had not made Third Party Insurance or comprehensive insurance policy compulsory, majority of car owners will not buy into it. This is because insurance in Nigeria is not to mitigate against loss as claimed but for profit making avenue. Most insurance sales personnel sell policies not based on needs but benefit. Can NAICOM tell Nigerians the total amount realized by insurance companies from automobile insurance policies ( TP/ Comprehensive) sold in the last 10years? How much claim was made during the period under review? What is the customer experience rating by policy holders? What have the insurance companies done with premiums collected during the same period? |
This is one of many ways govt. steal officially from the citizens using NAICOM as the regulatory and supervisory agency for insurance companies. Insurance should not be mandatory but optional. The increment should be rejected by all Nigerians because there is no concrete justification for it. A lazy govt. will always look for cheap and easy ways of exploiting the people without corresponding growth and development of human and infrastructures in the state. The third party insurance, as far as I know, is free monies for looting because I do not remember any insurance claim given over these past years especially on third party policies unlike comprehensive insurance policy. NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS INCREMENT FROM N5000 TO N15,000. |
People need to watch the interview he granted before taking a stand. I have seen it and summarily, Man. Utd should improve in all ramification, off pitch and on pitch. Ronaldo have been to different leagues, exposed and can compare things across. Man. Utd should wake up from living in the glory of the past. |
A broken relationship is better, compared to a broken marriage. Majority were victim of heartbreak at one point or the other, however, bounced back stronger and happier. No matter the ordeal, do not deny self a lifetime bliss. |
I know there are some Naija ladies who still believe in love, respectful, hardworking and ready to build a happy home with a responsible lovely man. @Savedday, when you meet the special one for you, then, you will understand better! |
Update! The brother in question has finally met a lady of his dream. In his words to me," She is the best that I seek to be mine" and I could see the happiness all over him. Single ladies and gentlemen, please do not hesitate to voice out when in need. Help might be around...! I am glad to see him happy and finally out of depression. |
Why is state govt. not using same AI technology to block all leakages and corruption in civil service? |
I applaud the state government on this move, however, subjecting private vehicles to mandatory test as pre-requisite to issuance of road worthiness certificate is unnecessary. Private vehicle owners are responsible and do carryout maintenance on their vehicles compared to public/commercial vehicles. The commercial vehicles should go through mandatory test because of high number of passengers and weight of goods conveyed daily. Lack of adequate testing centres lead to long queues of private vehicles waiting to undergo test and a lot of people, whom have done the test, complained about time loss in the process. The state government should focus more on fixing the bad roads causing traffic gridlock, provide more test centres, mandate commercial vehicles and drivers to test, sensitize traffic officials and enlighten all road users on traffic rules and keeping the road safe. |
Indispensable85:When government fails to deliver good governance, good roads and misappropriation of funds, what punishment is available for the offenders? |
Unfortunately, the traffic laws are often disobeyed by law enforcement officers ( Lagos State Task Force, LASTMA, Army, Air-force, Navy, NCS, Immigration, NSCDC and NPS) ranging from driving against traffic( one-way), break traffic light rules, use of ricket and unworthy vehicles without trafficator lights on the road without being arrested because they are above the law! What happens to supremacy of law? Are the rich and mighty not bound by the same laws? Does equality of laws and punishment applicable to all? The laws are created by people for all for a better society, however, it is skewed in favour of the rich and against the poor. Fines, community service, seizure are amongst the penalities for traffic offenders. However, there are stages of applying the penalties. First time offenders can be fined while serial offenders can be penalized beyond fines. The last option ought to be vehicle forfeiture and auction. Instead of starting from the cause-to-effect methodology of solving societal menace, the Lagos state government did not deem it fit to fix the bad roads causing traffic gridlocks, vehicle damages and increase in cost of maintenance. The traffic enforcement agents are quick to arrest civillians and not uniform men, the poor and not the rich who violate traffic laws by accident or deliberately. Accidentally, if your vehicle break down suddenly on the highways, LASTMA officials will arrest and charge you for traffic obstruction without considering the induvidual state of mind and effort. Quite unfair! When government fails to deliver quality service and good governance to citizenries, what punishment is given to such government? When government decided to apply the laws skewedly, what happens to rule of equality? When enforcement officers lie against civilians in order to reap off, their words versus the other, what justification do they have to nail individuals? Until the government, agencies and citizens are all ready to do what is right, societal vices shall be on the rise! Let government make laws without selfishness, shun corruption and mismanagement on all adminstrative and capital projects to be delivered, let the laws made be supreme and equal to all, justice and progress are adopted for better society, eduucation and continuous enlightenment of citizenry is a must and punishment of offenders without discrimination is paramount to a good governance. Say No To Crimes and Traffic Disobidience! |

Illiteracy and poverty are tools used by political class in order to keep reigning! Continuous education and enlightment of electorates is vital towards election of better candidate without disenfranchisement. I am yet to see a visionary selfless charismatic leader devoid of selfish, ethnic & religion color amongst Nigerian politicians, unfortunately! |
Attestation letter from a civil servant in level 14 and above before joining public service! |
[quote author=Tb222 post=116469359]Every candidates contesting an election should be subjected to thorough scrutiny and examination by EFCC. ...usually get profiled by ICPC, public ( electorates) and Media houses through debate! |
Zionmdde:I disagree, strongly, with you on the above! |
Why must government insist that no road should be fixed by no other except govt. regardless of bad shape? Why? Selfish interest of few... Approval should be granted to individuals and organizations willing and able to fix terrible state of our roads. This divisional policy( federal, state and local government roads) should be abolished for better Nigeria. |
None of the five teams will win the trophy. Note! |
ALMUSTAQIM:Good governance, where its being practised and not Nigeria, transcends to development with little or no corruption and cystal clear for all citizenry to align with. |
Tax evaders, traffic offenders and debtors are majorly hunted by Nigerian government. The law enforcement agencies usually arrest drug dealers, fraudsters and corrupt individuals. Good! However, what is the punishment for several Nigerian governments that failed to deliver on campaign promises in decades? Who should arrest the failed governments? Please, I need enlightment on the above. |
To God be the glory! I witnessed the very day this multi-billion naira project, Trinity Towers, was first announced and proposed to the congregation at City of David. The fund raising kick started with Pastor Idowu donating N500,000,000 on behalf of himself and family! I was only able to contribute N1000, not as a member of the church but a support officer working for my company and being a muslim that was impressed with such a visionary project. I rejoice with RCCG, City of David, and well meaning Nigerians for completion and realization of such wonderful project to the glory of God, to change and better lives positively. |
