In my opinion, there is nothing more celebrating than a nation of fulfilled citizenery in terms of political, socio-economic, infrastructural- welfare advancement and development which remains a dream yet to come true in Nigeria. With declaration of June 12 as a democracy day in honour of MKO Abiola, the supposed self-acclaimed winner of 1993 Presidential election, the government should reflect, review and see where we are and what are we doing to deliver true dividends of democracy worth celebrating to Nigerians. Ideally, democracy is a government of the people, by the people and for the people. The political system of choosing and changing government is through free and fair election by active participation of citizens in politics and civic life without undermining human rights, protection of lives, properties and promotion of interest and welfare of the people as stipulated in the constitution with supremacy of law. In Nigeria, we practise bastardized democracy. A system of government where few retired military men drafted the constitution, directly or indirectly formulate and sponsor political parties with ideologies favourable to them, fatherism/ imposition of candidates is peculiar to primary elections for flag bearer and excos of political parties, skewed policies formulation , execution and implementation with little or no regard for rule of law. A system of government for the rich and croonies with emphasy on self enrichment, poverty- ladden methodology of pocketing and control of citizens with no room for criticism, human rights are secondary and daily loss of lives to insecurity is seen as a norm without apology. The three arms of government (executive, legislature and judiciary) have similar selfish interest but different roles to play across government levels- federal, state and local. Good governance is far from the reality as tenent and principles guiding democracy are sidelined and relegated to shambles similar to what we are experiencing. The executive does not honour court rulings or legislatives summon, likewise the legislative chambers and members are not proactive and responsive enough to their functions with party ideology superceding national matters of interest. As for the judiciary, he who pays the piper dictates the tune syndrome, is militating against interpretation of law of the constitution as every judge and lawyer have a price. In other words, judgements are influenced and bought as far as Nigeria is concern. Civil servants in ministries, departments, agencies and more are insincere and corroborating corruption across board. Security agents are now instruments in the hand of politicians as a result of self gratification above protection of every life of individuals and properties. Unrest and insecurity is the order of the day with no concrete arrest and prosecution of sponsors behind these attacks causing loss of lives on daily basis e.g kidnapping, banditry, terrorism etc. An army of unemployed youth in millions is another national concern degenerating further and government across levels are paying lip service without decisive action to profer lasting solutions. Challenges bedevilling Nigeria are enermous and little or no attention are given to address the situation thereby increasing agitations and call for separation of regions by IPOB, Odua etc The earlier the government, elites and Nigerians agree and reconsider honour, hard work and true service to revamp the present decaying Nigeria state, the better for us and generation unborn. The President should take the lead as the head and let others follow if we truely love our dear nation, Nigeria. Until we have a country that the instititions and system works, supremacy of rule of law; values honour, dignity and respect above riches, meaningful standard of living of Nigerians without discrimination and fundamentals of true democracy are practised and respected, Democracy Day Celebration is a mere shadow of deceit. God help our nation, leaders and Nigerians. God bless

Tinubuadvocate:I am contributing peace, not terror, to Nigeria by being responsible and abiding by the laws of the land. I am a tax payer with attributes expected from citizenry by Nigeria... I pledge to Nigeria my country To be faithful, loyal and honest To serve Nigeria with all my strength ... Unfortunately, our rulers are unfaithful, disloyal and dishonest to Nigerians as well as serving themselves and their selfish pockets. They keep dividing the people along ethnic, political, religious lines for control and selfish interest. I hope you are not one of them. God help us all... |
I asked myself the above question and became sad because I am law abiding, pay tax and patriotic but situation of things are getting worse in the country. Is Nigeria redeemable with these set of rulers and politicians? I'm worried!

Why does INEC prefers and still adopt polling units system for elections in 2021. No reasonable progressive thought of adopting and implementing electronic voting system, comfortable from our homes! Must people come and queue to vote with high level of insecurity in Nigeria? Cluelessness everywhere.... amongst politicians, agencies and parastatals. |
With the announcement, banned of twitter operations in Nigeria by FG, it is now obvious these old men in government are thinking backward and childish unable to cope with criticism, youthful synergy and digitization of global relation and businesses. Unlike Lai Mohammed, I seriously doubt President Buhari actually tweet! I am greatly dissappointed in this government! I regret campaigning for this government in 2015. This government is taking Nigeria backward across sectors of the economy and still want to deny millions of Nigerians freedom of expression and indirectly regulating social media. Unapologetically, this is the worst government Nigeria ever had! The vibrant youths, media and well meaning Nigerians would cease to fall for the evil plot of silencing them. These politicians in government are behaving as if they will live forever, power belong to them and they can do whatever they like! I pity all especially the old men among them because when Nigerians react, #EndSarsMovement, #EndPoliceBrutalityMovement will be a child's play to the real protest. God's divine intervention shall take place on all in due course in Nigeria. PDP=APC= FAILURE |
He deserves it because he is a general on football pitch! I hope he wins...

As for 2023, it is better Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains elder statesman, support a reputable candidate for presidential race and retain his position as master of political game in sound health; than to contest and fail with no regards, respect or good health because he is old, fragile and replica of the incumbent health-wise which may result to failure. I am sorry to say that Tinubu is not the ideal leader that can liberate and rescue Nigeria at this time because his gaining alot from the rotten system. We need a God fearing, visionary, selfless- young leader, strong and determine to successfully implement development policies systematically devoid of sentiment, ethnic, religious and political party affiliations. Tinubu is obviously not in this category as well as majority of the present politicians in Nigeria. My prayer is that God deliver Nigeria from bad rulers and substitute them with good visionary leaders without selfish interest. |
Wisefellow:With over 200million population, where are these people? |
Constructive critism is to help government improve and deliver good governance to the masses. We can pray God guide them right for our benefits. We can also elect leaders that are visionary, selfless and ready to serve, not rule, Nigerians in subsequent elections. But who and where are these individuals with the above qualities? My worries... |
The worst government ever in Nigeria, in my opinion, is Buhari/ Osibanjo government because insecurity is at the peak, unfavourable and anti-people policies across board, Nigerians are more divided instead of being united and economic indices for growth and development e.g Inflation, GDP, unemployment, literacy, FDI to mention few are discouraging. I stand to be corrected though! God, help our leaders to lead right! God bless Nigeria!

My secondary school days, as a boarder, impacted greatly in becoming who I am today without any regret because I learnt alot academically, morally, physically, spiritually and emotionally which helped throughout my tertiary education and now. Self confidence to bully boys, toast girls and face crowd for debate or class quiz challenge is one. Ability to communicate effectively, power of persuation and convincing belief that I can do all things physical, skilled and mental. I was not the best academically, never came 1st, 2nd or 3rd position but I once conquered as overall best student in a particular subject amidst arrays of brilliant students in my set. Sporting activities was and still on point with physique of a sportsman, however its comes with a price of high food consumption! Unlike now, I ate alot in quantity to satisfaction. I remember vividly one evening in the hostel, we were served 2 leafraps of solid pap( Yorubas call it EKO) with Gure-Egusi soup and fish for dinner. Most hostel students usually lament about this choice of food, hence collect to eat, trash or give-out. That particular evening, I announced while dinning" if you are not interested in eko, please pass it to me" and before I knew it, I had eko in large quantities before me. I succeeded in consuming 24 leaf-raps of eko to my maximum satisfaction. Wow! Some of the boys were amazed. Anytime I remember that particular incident in school, I cannot comprehend how I managed to eat so much at once. Unimaginable! Now, my fear is the rate my two boys are consuming food in the house. I hope they will not follow my food consumption pattern fully as a young boy because Nigeria of then is not the same as Nigeria of today. |
akanke79:Maybe it is high time Nigerians considered a female president as suggested but what name comes to mind? |
Considering the people in Nigeria politics today, the hope of Nigerians for better country is little or nothing. The various politicians and political parties are structured and operates with selfish interest. Who can lead Nigeria to greatness again? I have no answer! |
I noticed some of their members blocking the entrance to Lagos High Court, Ikeja this morning on my way to work. Only government have answers to their demand. Unfortunately, the government no balance! |
The bank instead should be charged and not shifting the burden to customers. It is wrong! |
I received a notice of debit transaction(via e-mail) of N63 from GTB few minutes ago. The remarks states " VAT ON SMS ALERT CHARGE FOR 19TH FEB.- 25TH MAR. 2021. Have you experienced same from your bank? Honestly, Nigerian banks are discouraging savings with too many charges. |
EzzyCarter:Dreadlock is not for me Regular washing and combing is all I do without triming. I like it! |
Low haircut has always been my style from childhood. In recent years, I decided to wear a new look by leaving my hair uncut since 2015 till date. How often do you have your hair cut? As for me, I don't know the road to barber's shop for now. This life no balance! |
adadike:Most pregnant women do this for show-off for reasons known to them. I believe a virtuous woman that respect and value morals as well as true in faith will not ridicule herself in that manner. Unfortunately, the blame is not theirs but that of their husbands whom consented and allowed it. |
Nigeria! It is finished! |
Scam everywhere... Govt. scam... Marketers scam... Politicians scam... Religious leaders scam... Security agencies scam... Regulatory institutions scam... NURTW scam... Market men and women scam... Most men that practise monogamy have side chicks unknown to their wives. The girlfriends whom are mostly young know about the marriage status of the man but care not provided financial and emotional benefits are involved. In the present time, married women are now playing side chicks role to married men simply because of money, position and power. The recent order of the day may jeopardise the future of children being raised. Truly, this life no balance at all! |
Considering the cost/benefit relationship to our society. Good or bad? Men with affluence and power in Nigeria are more likely to embrace poligamy compared to financially unstable men. The latter may likely offer more affection and attention to the wives more compared to the former. Generally, men have a huge role to play for a successful poligamous affair. The groom and brides in question are happy with the union and may stay happy provided they are good and true in character and wealth to one another. Islam permits such with a condition that the husband can be just equally to the wives. The ball is in their court! Family may be larger as a result of raising children which may be good on one hand and expensive to run on the other hand. It will likely result to healthy/ fatal competition for attention, affection and progress in all ramification amongst the couples and their wards. In summary, both the groom and wives will be the determining factor on how healthy and viable the union will last or crumble. The man must love, provide, share all necessary including attention and affection to his wives and children equally for him to enjoy a peaceful home. Also, only if women can curb jealous tendencies, adhere to the role of building good homes without sentiments or envy, encourage love and tolerance of all stakeholders for peace, growth and progress of the household. |
I know they are all good depending on different perspective of life and view. Being single is good because it is stress-free and very convinient to manage in all ramification( emotionally, financially, mentally, physically and socially). All individuals at this stage behaves maturedly or immaturedly with significance to self enrichment, growth and life achievment. Monogamy is better because it is simple, aid effective communication and companionship building without compromising on attention, affection and appreciation between couples whom are genuinely in love for better or worst. It is perhaps the most reliable and easily settled for by vast majority of people for religious and personal reasons. It takes hard work to sustain and easily achievable compared to polygamy. Polygamy is the best but difficult to attain maximally because it is complex in nature, resourceful and sustenability depends on variables wisdom, wealth, energy and compromise compared to others. People attempt this style of union but usually fail one way or the other as a result of human insatiable nature. However, a rare number have succeeded due to sacrifice, uprightness and unselfishness in all affairs. Importantly, live and let others live in peace. |
Monogamy and polygamy are part of our culture as Africans, however, most men with one wife do have serviceable girlfriends or concubines by the side. Though it may be relative but one will be better to the other. Your choice with reason. |
Congratulations! I wish them well. Looking at this from another perpective, lets consider the cost/benefit relationship to our society. Good or bad? Men with affluence and power in Nigeria are more likely to embrace poligamy compared to financially unstable men. The latter may likely offer more affection and attention to the wives more compared to the former. Generally, men have a huge role to play for a successful poligamous affair. Ishilove:How? |
Merino:I need some interpretation please. |
Federalcase:The lady that rejected my offer has done no wrong whatsoever because is a matter of choice which she's absolutely in control. I respect her decision especially the subtle way she declined. |
pocohantas:My good intention knows no bound and does not discriminate irrespective of gender, age or status. The same way a lady with good intention parked her car for me to enter when it was raining and dropped me off at my office gate shows pure kindness. Or the same way an unknown man gave me a lift to a nearby filling station to buy fuel. That same way I see school children, aged, pregnant women, neighbours, colleagues, friends and family whom have extended my good intention to. Unfortunately, you rarely see these people again, to thank and appreciate them for their kind gesture. |
Riele:I disagree with the above conclusion. There are good Nigerian men out there whom are disciplined, honest and faithful to their wives and girlfriends by giving necessary attention, affection, appreciation and money unconditionally. Pray and hope you meet one of the good ones as your life partner! |
On several occassion, under rain and sun, I've been offered a car lift on the road by males and females which I gladly accepted for comfort and early arrival to my destination without thinking otherwise. With my car, I give people, known and unknown, a free lift as long as their direction aligns with mine on daily basis. Afterall, the vehicle consumes same volume of fuel with or without them. On my way to work this morning, after I dropped my wife at her workplace, I saw a lady officially dressed with hijab from distance trying to get a bike but in futile, hence resorted to trekking. I drove close to her, exchange greetings and offered a lift to nearest bus-stop. " No, thank you" ...she said quietly. I said "okay" and accelerated immediately. Though people have different intention, good or bad, for their actions which is unknown to others. But it seems women are likely to reject a car lift than the male counterpart, I stand to be corrected. Your thought please! |
, I used to have my haircut every week. When I had long curls twas once in a month.
