Harlem2:In most cases, the kids usually have the day while every other person leave for their respective rooms. They can so disturb over cartoons! |
Electronics are common entertainment devices purchased in homes to make life and living comfortable because people are lover of music, movies, sports, politics and many more. Television is one major entertainment tool applicable to both the young and old, to view different programmes of interest. In my home, we do experience conflict of interest on what programme to watch especially during this AFCON 2019. Though, there are smaller television in the bedrooms but the sitting room TV is quiter bigger and connected to woofer for mind blowing ambience. I love to watch sports, my wife prefers movies, my children like cartoons and my sister/ sister-in-law wants BBnaija. Most times, I usually leave my apartment for my neighbour's to enjoy football games. This is compromise on my part for peace to reign at home, since I refuse to replicate the sitting room's atmosphere in the bedrooms nor patronize 5-in-1 dstv package. How do you cope with yours? |
Supreme court has given final judgement... Case closed! No more distraction from any quarters. Continuity of developmental proggressive party ideology of APC is needed in Osun state and I expect Oyetola's government to continue from where Aregbesola's government stopped. The good people of Osun must continue to enjoy the necessary social and infrastural support ,put in place by Rauf, in a well conducive secured environment. I urge the civil servants in the state to work in honesty towards a better goal driven state. We need more investments in human and capital projects to commesurate what we have already. All stakeholders, young and old, must put the state of Osun first and work towards ensuring she becomes self-sustained and viable economic state by 2023. |
Will Osun people vote based on achievements of these two major parties( PDP/APC) haven both ruled for 8years in the state? Curious! What is your thought? |
Comparing 8years rule of PDP( Oyinlola) to that of APC( Aregbesola) in terms of security, education, social and infrastructural development, I give it to APC. But in terms of civil servants welfare, I give it to PDP. Whoever emerges the winner must improve on the recent developmental stride Osun is experiencing because continuity attracts investment and investors both domestic and foreign into our state. NO TO CORRUPTION AND BAD GOVERNANCE... YES TO GOOD GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY God bless Osun and her people God bless Nigeria. |
With keen interest, I read different comments on this topic just as I saw the debate on Channels yesterday. I am a native of Ede( Osun state) born in Lagos, graduated from OAU and visits Osun on quarterly basis every year. I am not a card carrying member of any political party in Nigeria, however, I am politically informed and do have passion for genuine and sustainable human and capital development across the nation which several governments have done little or nothing to make a reality. With respect to the debate, up coming election and general governance in Osun, I want the electorates to ask themselves what governance is all about? What is the impact of past and present government on Osun people and her environment? Are Osun people better-off compared to other states of the federation in terms of corporate governance, food, housing, job creation, security, good road network, education, developmental projects and social amenities? Truly, there is difference between where we are coming from and where we are presently, compared to where we should be as a state in relation to human and capital development. Growth is key for development to take place. The public sector driven economy of Osun State should be reconsidered and re-evaluated for joint public/ private sector driven economy especially the real sector. Over dependence on federal allocation should be discouraged and emphasis on self driven productive state to increase internally generated revenue, promotes healthy competition across sectors and ensure legislation and implementation of viable policies for all. If 800million naira is the generated revenue as claimed , it's indeed disheartening and shows there is a problem with the economic template of the state and should be re-evaluated and revamped for more productivity and efficiency. Unfortunately, election in the state is always skewed towards biased sentiment and selfish interest of the few political class and civil servants at the detriment of the impoverished people of the state and overall governance. The monarchs are the worst in championing the direction for voting by their wards as a result of deception and selfish reasons. In other words, the electorates in the state should shun vote selling and sympathy vote under whatever pretence and allow the principle of growth and development of Osun, her people and environ take centre course of rationale of voting for all contestable seat in the state. Importantly, it should be noted that both good and bad governance has history and records peculiar to the state. Do what is right for all especially the vulnerable women and children as well as the unborn generation to come in Osun. Best of success to the electorates and contestants who have Osun people at heart. Osun State in my heart... |
The lifestyle of a man as a bachelor is sweet and that of a married man is sweeter when peace, love, trust, understanding and God exist in the household. Everyday life, in the city of Lagos, is funny but crazy as activities are fully packed from dawn till bedtime, including other room service. However, man must be and rise up to responsibilities he is designed, by default, to enjoy by the Creator. Every workdays, I get up from bed around 4:50am to see off my sweet little sister to bus stop, to join staff bus to Victoria Island. By 5:10am, I am back in the house to boil some bathing water for my lovely wife and princess. After brushing, I take 15minutes to say my prayer and then, wake my baby to give her necessary daily supplements and bath her in readiness for school, while my wife is usually busy cooking the breakfast for the household. She also dress her up for school and prepare her school lunch box. As for my automobile, I quickly clean it up and get the black mini SUV set for the day. I then rush to have my bath, dress up and ready for work with my breakfast well packed in the food flask. Every family member is ready for the day and we set out. As the driver, my daughter's school is the first stop over, followed by my wife's workplace before arriving my office by 8:00am. Working hours between 8:00am and 5:00pm is another interesting ball game that I am not ready to dwell on, full of activities, goal realisation and meeting deadlines while the sphere bubbles for people and activities till close of business. By close of work, I wait no extra time to pick my beautiful babies, wife and daughter, to return home by evening between 6pm and 7pm due to traffic gridlock peculiar to Lagos roads. I am not complaining because it will surely get better while I enjoy all these. The hustle is real and family is key! |
The residents of Babaponmile Street, Onipetesi, Ikeja on Saturday afternoon noticed markings on fences of virtually every houses which was done by three men of Periscope Engineering Limited. People approached them to ask why mark the fences and the response was that Lagos State government had just approved construction of the street because it is the longest street in Ward C, Ikeja Local Govt. Residents of Babaponmile street demand to know the authenticity of the reconstruction and when and how the project will be implemented. Though, a welcome development if true but marking fences and drainages for destruction and reconstruction is what we oppose to and condemn in strong terms. The street was first tarred in the 90s by government with well constructed drainages on both sides of the road. No issue of flooding or blockade whatsoever whenever it rains and if reconstruction is to take place, it should basically be the road surface. Why would a government want to expand the street from 7.3meters to 8meters when the difference and benefits is highly insignificant compared to the costs and pains. This implies that the formal drainages would be condemned for new ones, the electric poles would be removed and shifted backward before working on the road surface, thereby requiring more money to expend, takes longer time for completion at the expense of tax payers money and residents of the street. Also looking at the political angle to this, election is at the corner and some people want to make more money and fame for selfish reasons, therefore lobbying and proposing dirty deals from state government officials. Instead, why not ask the community how government presence could be felt further because the power supply in the area is terrible with bad transformers, high level of insecurity and water supply is nothing good to talk about, than to waste money on duplication of project done before. I also noticed a huge rush on the part of the contractor by coming to the street on Saturday to mark fences and shops for demolition, brought a notice letter with no date/signature/stamp or address of authenticity today and to embark on demolition tomorrow immediately. Who does that without carrying residents along? We ,the residents of Babaponmile Street, hereby want the Lagos state government to be more prudent and responsive by giving us what we want and not what you think we want. If reconstruction is to happen, it should be to our happiness and not havoc you are about to put on residents. This is an appeal to LASG to reconsider all for a win-win situation.

Sequel to the press release of 2019 election time table by INEC in Nigeria, the political gladiators and spectators have swung into action, strategically doing everything openly and covertly possible to woe Nigerians for support. All viable political positions are contest able, however, the presidential election is on the lips of all well meaning Nigerians. For various reasons, some people are looking forward and in support of the incumbent President, M. Buhari, to run again while others have different interest as candidates. The common ground of interest is that election must take place and a winner must emerge to continue steering the affairs of the nation. The affairs of the nation is the key phrase for consideration and enlightenment, for growth and development of our people as opposed to the convention of who, what and where the person comes from politically and region- wise. At this stage of our democracy, the elites should look beyond individual selfish interests but overall positive projection of our dear nation and allow Nigerians get it right. The Nigerian youths, for once, should wake up from their slumber and let's make right decision without prejudice and selfish motives for genuine control and unending sustainable growth of our people and resources. I disagree in absolute term that the youths are not ready to become the leaders they are born to be! The time is here and I am ready just as many other youths. We see the need and we have to take the lead now! Enough of all the negativity attributed to our great country! In the forth coming election, we youths must rise up, participate fully and positively towards changing the course and direction of our nation for optimal development and improved better standard of life of Nigerians. With our PVCs, we can make it happen by voting for a deserved young pragmatic intelligent incorruptible visionary leaders whom have excel in their fields and shown public interest as service to humanity. To halt the wastage and loss of large chunk of our youths to illegal migration in any form, to avoid continuous division of people in religious, political and ethnic colours and in the interest of eradication of poverty and unemployment to a minimal level for sustainable economic growth and development of our dear nation, we must act right and now is the time. I believe we, Nigerians, can do it and together, achieve all outlined objectives for better Nigeria and for the world. In strong words, this is my stand for us as a nation. God Bless Nigeria. |
To lend my voice on this subject, the call for reorganisation of SARS/ FSARS operation and personnel by IGP Idris Ibrahim is a welcome development and more effort should be channelled towards re orientation and training for modern crime combating and policing. #ENDSARS tweets has revealed so many negative complaints about security operatives of the unit in question by some citizens. However, the SARS Unit of NPF should not be eradicated as called for by some Nigerians. Implementation is key and I believe if well directed, it will curb excesses perpetrated by some officers of the unit ranging from harassment, extortion, unnecessary killings, indecent dressing, drugs consumption and corruption to mention few. I hope to see improvement and a better security operatives in position of operations and policing of all good people of Nigeria. |
Toyota Rav4 2006 model! The valve body of the gear was changed with new ATF oil in Feb. this year and was okay until last month. My mechanic told me it's high time to change the ATF because it's now lighter. Is it right to change gear oil twice in a year? Your candid professional advise is needed. Thanks! |
Haven seen the video, the driver must have been arrested for a reason unknown to me. Evidently, both the driver and FRSC officials are culpable of wrong doings. The FRSC official in the vehicle should know better that dragging the gear or steering with the driver while in motion could lead to accident, possible loss of lives and damage of car. The deliberate forceful damage of the side windscreen by the other official is uncalled for and other law enforcement officers such as police and LASTMA are known for this unprofessional act. I expect the officials to note and track the driver's plate number, make arrest on spot or after and possible record or video the incident as evidence against the driver in court. Drivers must obey traffic rules and respect the law enforcement officers, while the latter must be professional in conduct, taking safety of lives and properties as paramount. |

When it comes to mobile phone, there are quite number of brands and models with different features presently and in the recent past. A lady-customer walked into my office for business and brought out a phone to calculate the total amount of payments to be made and I was wowed. She was using the broom stick by the side of the phone to punch the key pad. Please, can I see that phone, I asked? She jokingly hand it over and I was amazed it was a Nokia 1209 phone, displaying and working fine. The only question that came to mind was how many recent smart phones can be subjected to this condition and still works perfectly?

I commend the Acting President and his team for job well done. The act of refusal to sign the proposed bills, in line with premises given, further revealed we can get it right politically in Nigeria. The separation of power for the three tier of government is being tested and the judicial arm of the government must come to party for permanent resolution. Unlike in the past, it's paramount to have brilliant honest dedicated people in political offices which brings a robust ideas and argument which is healthy for our polity and development as a nation. As for Sen. Dino, he has a lot to learn as a serving Senator. |
It is quite sad to hear such ugly incident coming from law enforcement officer whom suppose to be protector of lives and properties. This further reveals there is a huge gap in the recruitment and training of the police officers and the earlier it is checked, the better for a robust-oriented-civilized policing of the nation. The Police service commission, Nigeria Police Force and Ministry of Interior should look into this critically, as a step towards reviving the police because most Nigerians have lost confidence in Police. May God grant the family and the nation fortitude to bear the loss. |
Hello Op, glad to know your SUV is back to shape. I would like to ask a question relating to your vehicle, if you don't mind, since I use same. Does your vehicle rev at times during motion with a loud noise? Just wondering is it a common thing to Rav4 2006 model! Could it be an ATF issue or gearbox itself? Look forward to your response, please. Thanks. |
It is a pity, most Nigerians neither read nor adhere to instruction specified in user/car manuals maybe because they are either impatient or over confidence of themselves. I once asked a neighbour using a Toyota Corolla car of what measurement does she fill in her tyres? She said the vulcanizer usually put 35PSi which means ignorance on her part. My Toyota Rav4 user manual specified 32PSi for the front, rear and spear tyres which I strictly adhered to irrespective of distance to cover. The earlier we reiterate and enlighten all vehicle users, the better and safer for all. |
To the automobile doctors, kindly give the likely solution to my car issue. Whenever I am driving, I noticed the car revs with a louder noise when gears are shifting automatically. I intend to travel a distance of 234km with the vehicle and a friend advised not to go with it. I intend to take it to mechanic workshop over the weekend but curious on what could be the cause and permanent solution without necessary buying a new complete gear at this critical time of the year. Please, your profound suggestion and opinion is highly welcome. |
onadana:It's high time we talk sense as responsible and progressive citizens of this nation. Every Nigerian owe the country a duty of patriotism and government also owe it's citizenry a good living standard in conducive and secured nation. In the case of Steven Keshi, I expect members of NFF to be in attendance at the funeral, to show support; physically, emotionally and financially( if willing) just as friends, ex-players and sport loving people. It is not a must, provided NFF have paid Big-Boss all his necessary dues, to foot the funeral bills. |
The Senate has shown overtime they are less concerned about legislation for development and growth of our democracy but their selfish agenda. How many significant bills have been passed or reviewed to better the lives of Nigerians? How many times have they sat to deliberate and wage a big stick on corruption, corrupt persons and mismanagement? How often do these people monitor and supervise various government agencies genuinely in the interest of the nation. Is impeachment of the President Nigeria needs at this critical moment to strengthen our institution? Why are the Senators misbehaving and these are parents of some people? Can someone, please, bring them back from death of duty/ responsibility? Why always give impression that they are just receiving salaries and allowances for doing nothing meaningful to this nation? The Senate should sit up and wake up from slumber of hatred, laziness, selfishness, corruption and nepotism; and put on a thinking cap of Nigeria for all, growth and development legislative wise! Enough of misplaced priorities! |
It's sad to experience heart break especially when genuine love is involved. Life is full of ups and downs; hope you take it as the latter. On the contrary, thank your star for the revelation. A woman who will love you, share both thin and thick of life with you is patiently waiting for you out there. Trust me, OP, you will love her in return forever! I urge you to remain focus, work in the path of success and grow in God's way and surely, beautiful beginning plus happy family awaits you. |
This is an eye-witness report from Onipetesi, Lagos-Abeokuta express road this Monday morning. A driver of a white Toyota Sienna car collapsed on the steering in the slow moving traffic and the vehicle slowly stopped. The vehicle was heading towards Ikeja Along bus stop. Immediately, an emergency call was made by one of the passenger to 112/767 and rescue arrived in less than 10minutes. This further thicken the traffic as the driver was whisked away in an ambulance and it was confirmed that the man was still breathing. I applaud the bravery of the passenger and timely response of the rescue management team and hope the man survive the attack. Health is wealth as I look forward to a better Nigeria.

I feel disheartened and troubled that some people have allowed sentiment and ethnicity to cloud their sense of reasoning. A suspect claimed to have received certain amount of money for a job delivered to the former President but cannot disclose the details... And both persons are still in the country! The Judiciary arm of government is a major decider in bringing corrupt government officials to justice but experience over the last sixteen years have revealed otherwise. Serious cleansing is surely needed to flush out corrupt judges and lawyers as experienced in Ghana recently. No one is above the law |
Stickers are often pasted on vehicles' windscreen, bumpers, etc for registration identification, membership affiliation, advertisement, fashion and communication. In Nigeria, however, some car owners use this medium to send a strong warning to other road users to keep-off, avoid collision or scratch of vehicles. This is common to police officers, military officers, lawyers to mention few. Inscriptions like "NAVY", "MOPOL", "ARMY","AIRFORCE" are common to military officers. While " Wetin Lawyer They Do Self", " I Am Married To A Lawyer", "D LAW" are synonymous to lawyers. I laugh when I see such stickers! Some people might feel intimidated and others indifferent. Often times, most people driving such vehicles do misbehave on the road while driving. Please share your thought and experience, if any. |
Our dear nation, Nigeria, is in a deplorable state due to lack of public good-will and mismanagement of human and material resources by the political elites, paving way for corruption and other social vices been experienced. The level of corruption, insecurity, unemployment, infrastructure decay and education are part of reasons Nigerians voted President Buhari for change in order to experience good standard of living in a viable and robust economy. Rome was not built in a day, however, there are signs and expectation of what ought to be in place, in strong terms, aside the body language of Mr. President after five months in office. The constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria has provisions for governing the affairs of the nation but not in entirety, owing to present predicament of the nation as declared "broke" by our president. What effort are been made to review and amend the constitution by both the legislatures and judiciary amidst its ambiguity. Does the people in question possess the will to steer the move for genuine course of development for all? Are the legislatures free of corruption cases and the judiciary immune to skewed rulings and misinterpretation of laws? The constitution must be reviewed to enable desired change materialise. Recently, the Senate confirmed the ministers appointed by Mr. President without clear indication of what their portfolio were and now, we still do not know when our President will announce to the nation what and how he will lead us out of the mess created by the past rulers. The federal executive team has a huge role to play depending on their policies and level of implementation. No doubt, I respect the individuals that make up the team but the change Nigerians yarn for is far bigger than individuals. Therefore, serious work should commence without delay and a road map for posterity must be strictly adhere to by all stakeholders. At this point, I appreciate the sudden re-emergence of our security and anti-graft institutions and hope the tempo is sustained. Moreover, I expect Mr. President, in addition to asset declaration, to mandate all public officials to patronise indigenous businesses within the country for all services except in situation where it is not available. The multiplier effect of this singular act to our economy will bring about much investment and change. A situation whereby an alleged corrupt individual seek court injunction for release of seized passport for medical care abroad will cease and more attention is focus on the economy. Same rationale for growth of different sectors of the economy such as health, education, industries, etc Many governments, in the recent past, have tried diversify the economy only on paper without genuine actions to match. The fall in price of crude oil below 50dollars has affected and degenerated our foreign reserve, revenue and expenditures at all tiers of government making some states economically non-viable and owing of salaries of workers. Its high time Mr. President genuinely encouraged massive agricultural development, processing and production of farm produce as well as industrialisation through interest rate policy review, review of land use act, re-orientation of the youths, investment and education. Especially, with the United States of America's recent interest in sale of crude oil and more discoveries of oil by other countries, the time is now for the president team to put diversification in place and develop our agriculture sector without minding the resource control issue been raised by some quarters. In the long run, it will lead to competition and competition is necessary for growth. Nigerians are ready provided President Buhari and his team are willing to take the driving seat. The legislatures and judiciary also has keen roles to play for the drivers to steer the wheel of change for development. The basic infrastructures ranging from power, good road network, healthcare facilities, school buildings and equipment can be given short term realisation which will in turn facilitate conducive environment for businesses to thrive without fear of insecurity. With constant monitoring and evaluation by the social groups, media houses and citizens directed at the present government at all levels, I hope the change voted for is not an illusion. God bless Nigeria, our leaders and the people! |
The screening of the ministerial nominees by the Senate continued today and it was the turn of a nominee, Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, to be grilled. Honestly, I was expecting the senators to interview and ask questions in relation to the office she held while serving Yobe people and how she can bring that to the national level for positive change we aspire, without minding she's the wife of a serving senator and three-time former Governor of Yobe state. Instead, what I saw today has revealed that the senators are not ready for the genuine change. The senate president, Dr. Bukola Saraki, made the matter worse by calling her husband to ask her wife a question! The husband ought to have sideline himself and allow other people ask meaningful and developmental questions towards are appointment. "Would you be surprised if the house ask you to take a bow"... asked, the husband? Seriously, was that a screening question by a serious senator? Does these people think Nigerians are fools? Do the senators take Nigeria affair as a paddy-paddy thing? I feel pained and disheartened by what the senators just did. I expect seriousness on the part of service to our dear nation and this should reflect on every strata of our government and amongst Nigerians. The media houses should condemn what just happened and keep the senators and public officials on their toes. Please!

A man was stopped from causing sorrow to a family this morning as he was caught stealing a child from school at Convenant Nursery and Primary School, Maryland, Lagos by the school security officer. The officer is in charge of controlling traffic for parents who came to drop their lovely children to school. He suspected the man walking out of school with a pupil and was brave enough to stopped him for questioning. Why would you be taking a child away when the child should be taking inside, he thought? He was arrested and the school management reported to the police. He was seen taken away by the police in their vehicle. May God continue to save our children from these evil perpetrators.

You eat foods and take drinks to stay alive basically but there are other reasons why we indulge in these acts. If you were to pick a glass cup now, which of the displayed drinks would you like to be served chilled and why? ![]()

I choose to share an experience that happenned few days ago in my lovely home and it got me thinking, for some seconds, how rich our culture is and how happy I am to have two wonderful mothers. My adorable wife was ill, received medical treatment and got discharged from the hospital. We (my sweet mother, lovely wife and I) left the hospital for home and the next day, my admirable mother-in-law arrived. We ate, gist and laughed since its been a while. After lunch, all dishes were taken to the kitchen and to my astonishment, both mothers insisted to wash the dishes. " Leave it ma, I will wash it", "No our mummy, I will wash it", " Please ma, do not worry about washing", " Oh ma, leave it all to me"... these were utterances from both mothers and I was filled with excitement and quickly, I intervened by politely asking them to leave the dishes and the kitchen, then wash the dishes. Is it our culture that made this happenned or was it the individuals involved? If you were to be in my shoe, what would you do to help the situation? |
blessedfavoured:Thank you for the "heel" correction |
Fashion is seen as a norm and virtually everyone, including males and females, like to smell nice and look good, if not simple. This is paramount to women as emphasis are placed on hair style and treatment, cosmetics and facial treatment, wears and shoes to mention few. However, I am restricting this write-up to the high-hill shoes our gorgeous ladies put-on. Women wears high-hill shoes to work, religious centres, events etc which often make them look tall, walk smart( robotic in some cases) and classic but at a price of discomfort to themselves. No doubt, it reduces the pace of movement and more time is expended moving from point A to point B. Also come with leg pain at some point, if not later, in life. I was compelled to assist a beautiful woman in the church this morning by holding her hand as support to climb the stairs because she asked. Why this outfit to church when you can not bear it? Why so much discomfort at the expense of fashion? Why call for attention(all eyes on you) with your hill-shoe? Why must you join them if you can not resist it all? Why...? Moderation is key and environment should play a part in your decision process of fashion especially this rainy season.
