Why don't u look for jobs in Abuja. Minna to Abuja is not that far na. You get a job and then u can even get accommodation in Suleija or Zuba area for the mean time. My opinion though cos there is nothing worth doing in that town except you open ur own business.

I have been teaching for 13k for the passed 5 years in a private school. It is with the little I could save that I sponsored myself. Things became easier with NYSC allowance but today it stopped!

What you study does not matter most times but as you progress in your career, the path becomes clearer. Fortunately you can identify yours already, so go try and get a certifications on both or if you can do masters/PGD now in them as well, that would be great.

A friend of mine is in dire need of what to do right now.

He was recently employed in an organization where he is on a 3 month probabtion, after his first month of working, his salary was slashed by 35% on which he complained to the director about it.

The director said that it is only a temporary thing only if he step up on his work that he will receive his full payment after d next appraisal by his team leader.

Meanwhile, he hasn't acknowledge or signed that he received the letter of deduction.

Moreover, the following week comes and he was terminated with his team leader that there services is no longer required in the company.

So now the HR is on his neck to sign the letter which she will forward to him via email.

He is confused on what to do that is it possible for him to receive his full salary and also his termination pay if he doesn't sign it or what does he needs to do?

pls, your urgent advice is what he needs.

Tell your friend to take his employment letter and narrate this story to a lawyer. The thing is that we are mostly afraid to consult a lawyer in issues like this and I don't know why. A lawyer will best explain the terms of his contract and next step to take. He can look for a lawyer in his church or mosque, they won't collect anything if he explains his predicament.

Hello, nairalander's I am 27 years of age and just passed out from service October last year, with a 2.1 degree cert in Geo/Envi Mgt my PPA retained me with a pay of 20k just this January they added 5k to my salary, On Friday I got a call from my pastor about a security job in first bank, to cut the long story short, I was given an appointment with a salary of 40k...and now I am so confused, I have plans to further my education by September this year and am not really comfortable with leaving my current job...pls I want your take on this....

If you ask me, I would take that security job, do the job with passion and before you know it, you can even be employed there because you will be the first to know if there is any vacancy. If sept comes and u have ur admission in hand, you can still take off. My take though

Good day Nairalanders, I need help on making a job related decision. I'll try my best to shorten this.

So I finished NYSC this year and even before my POP I was offered a job through a friend. The interview process was more informal as we ended up talking politics instead because my to be boss (then) was someone I knew well.

My appointment letter states that my basic salary will be #20,000 for a probationary period of 4 month, this excludes lunch. The appointment letter states that after the four months my salary will be reviewed based on performance.

My course of study in school is completely different from the job and I was only offered because of my interest in the IT field. (My course of study is Technical Education).

Now the issue is last month (5th month) I was offered the same salary. I told my Boss what's stated in the letter and he said "we're still working on some things for you to do since you don't do much yet".

Truth is I've learnt some configurations and actually made same for some equipment that needed them and also monitor the usage of this equipment. But it's not always that way as I feel useless sometimes.

The problem is the pay is not enough at all.
My question is
1) Do I just resign and go work somewhere else? ( I had a chance to work as a teacher with a significantly higher pay before accepting this)

2) Should I wait for this 6th month pay before making my decision?

I'll be 23 soon and I feel like I'm getting older and want a place where I'm axtuve and paid well.
Please advise me on what to do.

The question is what do you have to offer. Invest in yourself and be the best at what you do, Trust me you will get a higher pay offer. We all think higher pay offers come just like that, there is always a little beginning and this is yours. so make up your mind that you will be the best employee in that office and once that starts happening, its either your boss gives you another role with a higher pay or another opportunity will come you way. it always works but its start with you being the best at what you are doing now. PS for the fact that you read Technical education doesnt mean you will end up a teacher, except thats what you want. but if its not, then be the best now and picture the kind of job you want and it will come.

The hold up there is not entirely caused by the buses that drop or park there. The main cause of the traffic hold up is the pedestrians that are crossing the road both in the mornings and evening. If a pedestrian bridge is built there and the normal wire fence is in place on that barrier, you wont see any traffic build up at all. there are other bus stops like Jakande etc where buses stop and have commercial activities but you don't see traffic. The solution is to erect a pedestrian bridge, build fences on the center barrier, those people stopping cars to cross the road will vanish and you wont see traffic.

The lastma personnels there are doing absolutely nothing and just after money

The Bus drivers pick and drop off passengers on the road..
While market women and okada men take up almost half of the road every evening

This can be remedied by these simple steps..

Step 1.... All buses should be made to pick and drop off their passengers right inside the park

Step 2..... Stop all commercial activities around the bustop

Step 3...... Ban okada riders from the express
