Papayaayasager:Lol. You may hate Nigeria and deem her worthless but I dont. At least not enough to be "glad and happy" that foreign criminals, killers, rapists, kidnappers and terrorists are illegally applying for and gaining Nigerian passports. |
toprealman:Two different things. We are talking about folks obtaining Nigerian passport illegally and not those legitimately trying to get asylum in Nigeria. David Hundeyin, the Nigerian investigative journalist, got Asylum in Ghana. Had he proceeded to get a Ghanaian passport illegally, rather than apply for asylum, he would have been charged with committing a crime, prosecuted and possibly deported after. |
WeddingParol:True. I personally believe the unprofessionalism and corruption of Nigerian immigration services personnel is a very serious problem for Nigeria. They are single-handedly responsible for why there is now a frightening proliferation of AK47 plus many other dangerous assault rifles and weapons in Nigeria today. There is a very evil conspiracy against Nigeria, for years now, aided by the highest level of political influence whereby non-Nigerian criminals and troublemakers are granted Nigerian citizenship and thus permanent stay in our country. Same evil and powerful Nigerians, using corrupt immigration officers, ensure our borders are as porous as a basket holding water so as to allow weapons in for their criminal 'man power' imports to use causing problems for Nigeria and Nigerians. We need to wake up. Tunji-Ojo must raise a sensitization campaign. Not good enough for his Ministry to fight it. They must officially raise awareness of how Nigerians can help them fight it. Inform Nigerians , always too casual and negligent, of the danger of ignoring suspected illegal immigrants neighbours and then provide them with hotlines to report such. Specialist officers can then apprehend and deport confirmes illegal immigrants from Nigeria, after taking their biometric data, as many Countries of Europe do very efficiently every single day. |
eruchboy:In theory, such should not be possible on a biometric database as it should flag up and query duplicate information. |
bewla:We are in trouble unless a national awareness campaign and mini state of emergency is initiated to tackle the whole thing. Many Nigerians are walking around blindly unaware of a serious problem for us now that is likely to worsen substantially in future if unchecked. I.e the ease with which non-Nigerians, especially those of the indesirable kind, can gain Nigerian Passports. Given our challenges with serious crime and poor security, now affecting our economy, more non-Nigerian criminals with Nigerian passports will eventually turn Nigeria into Africa's wildest hotbed of terrorism, inwards migration of extremist religious fundamentalism, brazen kidnapping and violent crime. |
eruchboy:Probably several things to include even genuine NIN granted to an individual who was not Nigerian to begin with and took advantage of rampant corruption to gain a Nigerian NIN. |
Nukilia:Hell no. They must be sent back to wherever they were coming from. They were trying to use fake NIN to gain Nigerian passports. They are likely terrorists, criminals and potential shifty folks up to no good. |
diamond68:You've put it brilliantly. |

mrvitalis:My bad. Did not see the video. Saying it is sugary may be interpreted as down to difference in taste perception. Claiming the paste can kill is going too far as it accuses Erisco of wilfully poisoning consumers fatally. |
michlins:Was not aware she said the Tomato paste can kill. I have alway believed the version below where she said the paste was very sugary and nothing was added about her stating the tomato paste of Erisco can kill. Apologies if she she truly went that far. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/698774-court-remands-erisco-tomato-

DaddyCoool:God bless you. It is what OBJ, Yar Adua and GEJ did also. One thing the most objective, exposed and logically discerning Nigerians understand is that Nigeria can never ever become a developed Country, with every citizen having the tools to develop to the extent their children and granchildren escape generational poverty, as long as we have subsidies propping up what competitive and free market provisions should lead and thus make excellent/world class. For example, removing subsidy from PMS is best because, if all goes well, it should pave way for saving to facilitate optimal and diverse transport systems across Nigeria meaning Nigeria dont even have to own cars and can enjoy affordable and adequate transport that means cost of petrol is not their business as is the case in the UK and many European nation that have the highest per litre cost of PMS in the world. Ditto the reason the UK, Japan, Singapore etal have world class transport system and we don't. Talking Europe and the continents outside Africa, most nations there developed adequest power supply for their people's use with non-subsidized or slightly subsidized billing that meant money is available to be invested in power till it is made available 24/7 everywhere. Power generation is very expensive so I wonder how any intelligent person can make the case for the Nigerian model of heavy subsidy leaving Nigerians paying pittance for their power and many even paying nothing for homes and business with illegal connections. What we have in place today is a self-destructive trap as it means a Nigeria that is broke today will never have the funds, if we continue with the status quo, to invest in power generation to deliver a 24/7 model others host worldwide. This is why world organisation advise us to remove subsidy from power supply. They know literally trillions is required to give Nigeria 24/7 power and are not ready to give us such sums that can be embezzled (OBJ and Atiku $16 billion NIPP scam) as literally "freebie awoof". Yet, if Nigerians pay more for power then Government has no option but to re-invest the extra money into improving power generation and supply. Simple concept. Same thing with education. Without going into details as much I did with power, I will summarise concluding that over-subsidizing education in Nigeria has made it poor and grosssly inadequate to the extent we still have to import civil Engineers from other nations to build big project like fourth mainland bridge etal. This is because our own civil engineers simply dont have world standard knowledge and skills, one gains from expensive world class education, to deliver the biggest projects in the universe 100% safely, efficiently and to schedule. A civil Engineer trained in Nigeria will recieve education substandard to that of his peers in Europe, North America, Japan and most of Asia and Oceania. A vivid example of the failings of our cheap and inadequate education was during covid lockdown. While the scientists and researchers of others hit the lab to find vaccine to save humanity. Nigerians prayed with them forgetting we also have scientist and researchers who should be doing same and also forgetting we would have perished as a people if our scientist and researchers are all we have to rely on to fight a totally new disease virtually nothing is known about !!!! The way we are living, at all levels and facets of economic and societal life , is doing nothing other than killing us slowly and increasing generational poverty and misery most Nigerians can never escape. Cheap and government subsidized interventions over virtually every facet of a nation's economic life cannot not produce the excellence we see elsewhere in Countries all our youths now wish to "japa' to and will never aid our effort to be a developed nation. Tinubu , in my opinion, is the bravest, most well-meaning and most caring President to date for wanting to take insults and abuse from a people who cannot fathom all I have written above to deliver a Nigeria that will have the capacity to become a developed nation in the near future. Whereas previous President who know what Tinubu know , and all I have wtitten above, were happy to retain the status quo so they avoid the wrath of Nigerians who have become so poverty-stricken to the extent they have no interest in what is best for them and generations unborn long-term and only want what will keep them poor and damn their unborn children and their offsprings to generational poverty. I stand with Tinubu and remain willing to give him at least 2 years to prove it can work because I know what is shown below, i.e generational poverty that is systemic and enshrined, and that other Presidents deliberately encouraged and/or persevered with, is what Tinubu is trying to use "outside intervention" (as mentioned below) to break. Nigeria is in a "development trap" (mentioned below) and we need bravery, determination, self-sacrifice and the dedication to eschew tribal/petty sentiments to escape it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycle_of_poverty

DOSINCLAIR:Thank you. I wonder what is responsible for some being so small-minded. Your conclusion below is spot on also as some of the immediate and obvious benefits of better funding and autonomy for local Governments. For example, more Nigerians, even on NL, will now call oit their known LG Chairman for residential and internal roads as we do Governors for States main roads/highways and the FG for roads under their jurisdiction. Truth is that Governors have made Nigerians forget that the local Government exist as an independent tier of governance. This is brilliant from President Tinubu to be honest. I have personally always advocated local government empowerment as crucial for the fast-paced development of Nigeria since we all live in one local government or the other. Yet I did not expect the FG to charge Governors to Court to enforce the concept of LG full and independent empowerment. The Cities will be greatly decongested and Rural Rolas will be constructed as well as Farming hitting all time highs because Funding goes straight to an Empowered and Emboldened LG chairman to utilise funds Judiciously because Councillors and Traditional Rulers can always summon them to give account of spendings |
Eteka1:👏 Indeed. |
tishbite42:Point is that there are plenty of job that offer rewarding careers with good pay that do not require, as entry level qualification, a university degree as most white collar jobs do. No one would be against young folks going to University per se and asking them to consider other careers , that do not require a first degree, is not targeted at reducing the number of young Brits attending Uni. Sunak is probably looking at the literally thousands of well-paid vacancies, not needing a uni degree, young Brits can train to fill rather than immigrants continuously flocking in to take those jobs. |
wonlasewonimi:Man mi, you're talking too much sense. I actually think high quality vocational training , completed in around a year or two max, would really benefit Nigeria. It would be cheaper than Uni and the hand-on nature of the job means those who complete their studies can move straight into employment.with high level skills meaning they can work to very high standards acceptable anywhere worldwide. |
wonlasewonimi:Correct and practical example of what I think Sunak means. I have a friend like that too who did not go to Uni whereas most of us did. He is at the very top of the IT game today as a stupendously well-paid consultant whereas he started as one of those early day installation assistants who used to help folks install and configure new PCs and Laptops back them. Much more experience gained on the job with many hands-on self-improvement training courses and accreditations later, dude is now a big and wealthy success in IT today with all his kids in prestigious UK private schools. Nothing at all wrong with going to Uni. It is still very desirable but Sunak , given the challenges of the UK today, must be thinking Britain now has to encourage youths who do not wish to go to Uni to get on great career ladders through other paths. |
helinues:In Ogun State, Governor Abiodun has one of the most beautiful templates to work with. You are right concluding he has no excuses now. The remainder of his tenure is enough time for him to write his name in gold if he will now be up and doing from now till 2027. |
spagettiluv:Lol. You'd think their region was better than Singapore and Dubai combined and not the hellhole it actually is that they flee in their thousands daily. Why you think they are called creatures of hate and hypocrisy? Why do you think they covet the SW more than any other land in the entire Universe? It is because the covetous and hateful usurpers desperately want what the Yorubas have but are too wicked and pained to admit so. The hateful troll only speaks out of deep bitterness, frustration and envy for the Yorubas and the SW. Him and his ilk will wallow in that deep frustration and pain till they enter their grave because non of their evil projections for the Yorubas and the SE can ever come to pass. Impossible. |
Objectivist04:Who is wallowing in delusion if not a hateful ignoramus like you? Nothing shows your delusional hatred and malevolent envy of the SW and Yoruba, that leads you to speak in a shamelessly ignorant manner, than the bolded above. If you can claim the North, that has one of the poorest human development index in the world , has “gone ahead” of the SW , with one of the highest human development index in Nigeria and Africa, than you are beyond redemption. A rabid creature of hate facts no longer matter to. Intelligent Yorubas can only laugh at the mental torture, hatred and impotent malevolence against the SW and Yoruba that has so consumed you to the extent a sane and non-illiterate Nigerian can make such a ridiculous claim. No joke, I really pity some of you because it is obvious the malevolence and diminished status you wish on others can never materialize meaning a lifetime of torture and pain till you enter your grave. |
Objectivist04:Please spare us the noise. We are backwards and happy with our “backwardness”. You should explain what the non-indigenes you claim invested in the SW are doing there considering that migration, everywhere worldwide , only moves to areas of greater economic success and availability of opportunities. Only in aberrant Nigeria we see people so naturally wicked and ungrateful, like you, to the extent their innate disposition is to hate on, demonize and badmouth their Yoruba hosts. Gracious, tolerant and accommodating hosts who happen to own the most prosperous region of Nigeria, by far, with the biggest middle class, job opportunities, spending power and potentials for inward attraction for FDI in our Country. Yet they only get hatred and insult from covetous, bitter and hateful sadists like you. Just know that God does not bless ingrates who never wish others well or payback kindness and hospitality with malevolence just because your Yoruba hosts are not allowing you to take over every aspect of their society including their local politic and administrations. It will never be well with those sort of people. |
happney65:Looks wonderful. Hope this is a sign of things to come. If Governor Abiodun has decided to go out with a bang and begins to deliver the spectacular in his second term then we will support him and ease up on condemning him one of the worst Governors in Nigeria. After all, half bread 🍞 is better than none 😎 |
ForValour:Of course and I must add that there is a need to prepare for hard work also. Not going to Uni does not mean you are an Olodo. That notion is a reality in other nations. We only think that young people are somehow inferior if they do not have a University first degree, or even Master degree, because we have made elitism, at every level, a mantra for how Nigerians live. That is why, in Nigeria, we view political leaders our Gods who are above the law whereas they are servants of the people, who must be answerable to them at all times, in the UK, USA, France etal. I have given the example of how John Major became PM of the UK yet never attended Uni. Yet he is educationally sound and knows what graduates and Professors know and much more by the time he became PM. Bill Gates is a Uni dropout yet he has transformed the world immensely. The main aim of education is to move adults into gainful employment and careers. The universally established fact is that the University path is not the only one available for gaining the education needed for gainful employment that leads to career success and fulfillment even though we misguidedly believe that to be the case in Nigeria. Personally, and applied to Nigeria, I think we need more specialist and vocational education courses , with large chunks of practical and hands-on training for niche employment, that can deliver youngster ready to go straight into waiting jobs. This will be progress beyond what we have now whereby we are producing a proliferation of first and master degree holders jobless like 3 to 8 years after graduating. |
seunmsg:I can see the validity of your point but in my first response to this thread I made it clear my view that Sunak is right depends on the audience his message is targeted at and the contextual reference for the message. Sunaks message is not wrong if targeted at a British audience and aimed at tackling the huge dearth of applicants for jobs , threatening to damage the UK economy, that do not require University degrees yet are crucial to the extent the UK and many nations of the world has to encourage inward migration to fill those vacancies. I keep seeing well-paid HGV drivers (heavy goods vehicle) vacancies in Canada popping up somewhere , whether Nairaland or elsewhere. Yet those vacancies would not exist if many young Canadians, considering their pay could be higher than graduates can earn, consider those jobs and then train for them instead of retaining an obsession with going to university in the belief such jobs are below them. Such an outlook can create a lopsided job market with most young people seeking so-called prestigious white collar jobs, and then making those over-subscribed, whereas many well-paid jobs deemed as less prestigious are neglected creating serious shortfalls in the technical/health, hospitality sectors etal. If Sunak is addressing the people he was elected to lead then he cannot allow his opinion, regarding what is best for the British electorate, to be policed by the needs of other nations and the rest of the world. You did not provide a link so I could not discern the audience but, unless Sunak is speaking in Nigeria to Nigerians, the part in bold in your post is patently unfair to Sunak and unreasonable overall. When is the PM of the UK under compulsion to automatically think about what is best for young Nigerians before talking about what is best for young Britons? |
Bardo:Another good and valid point. Sunak knows the nation he leads well to understand that white-collar job elitism must be snubbed. Sunak sees that Britain still has the valid pathways that means a 16 year old who chooses not to attend Uni can enter vocational training of 2 years to be a certified gas Engineer at 18 to19 and be earning £60k (around 110 million Naira) or more per annum by the time his age mates are graduating age 21. He would have had a faster introduction into a career than his peers and may have a home mortage when they are still grappiling with seeking a job and then establishing a history of earning salary and credit-worthiness lenders require. With continous training as well and acquisition of greater skills/knowledge, he may likely stay ahead of his colleagues who went to Uni and perhaps even be their boss in future. Thninking outside the box is so essential today because the world is now ultra-competitive and only those who can do so will continue to thrive and find opportunities as the world inevitably becomes more 'harsh' as resources, jobs etal become more scarce. Those who get dogmatically and inmovably devoted to an idea, i.e "I most go to Uni" or "I need a masters degree to succeed", may end up failures who have wasted years of their lives because of rigidity of thinking and inability to consider plan B and even C. |
helinues:Wéréy ni bobo yén. Ko normal ra ra. |
Racoon:Are you ok at all? Can you ever stick to the subject matter and not mention Tinubu even when he is clearly not connected to the topic of discussion at all? Bro, you are not mentally health or well-adjusted and I can imagine you'd be a disaster, most would avoid, in a work or social setting because of an indiscrete incapacity to accept boundaries and/or an inability to refrain from malevolently overt and dogmatic focus on individuals. Fix up bro. You have carried on like this on Nairaland too long and are a nuisance now to others and yourself. @Topic. Sunak is right. He is dealing with the reality of what works for the nation he leads and cannot be concerned about other Countries. For example, if the UK could get more Brits to train in medical careers, other than Doctors who must attend University, then the UK would not need so much migrant labour in her medical sector and NHS . It was under Tony Blair that the thinking most young Brits must attend University was proactively promoted and supported. The world and Britain has changed since then to the extent hands-on vocational training, producing even 17 years old ready to go into skilled work like gas technician trainee or highest level HGV driver etal, could be a boost or even saviour for many economies world wide wide today. I have to add my comment depends on context and audience. I.e if it was a British audience he was addressing and if it is to motivate young people to understand that different paths, not university degrees alone, leads to career/personal success and fulfillment. For example, former UK Prime Minister John Major did not attend University. I rate Sunak because many don't understand the visionary things he is doing aided by his background as a child of Indian immigrants who has worked hard to get where he is and is seeing a laziness creep into the average British youth he know will lead to the 'Great' being removed from Britain soon. His current policy of bringing back compulsory and long-gone youth service, after Uni, is brilliant IMO. Especially as it mandates young Brits to work in the the Military or in community service sectors to expose them to appreciating what the UK has built and the need to proactively work hard to sustain and improve it. I rate Sunak but feel, ironically, he may lose the election because some of his policies may not resonate with the British electorate that is now into short-termism as most of humanity is today. Everything is the fault of the PM in a world getting poorer, thus making Brits poorer, and even worse for a PM who tries to get Brits to look at themselves. Sunak is asking Britons to make some fundamental changes I don't think most Brits are ready for. |
ElevationD:You’re wasting your time explaining to these jobless and sadistic trolls. They are worse than toddlers and “you go explain tire”. Irony is that they will be first to praise foreign political leaders for humility if that was British Prime Minister or US President sitting next to his underling who is in a more plush chair. These hateful trolls are irredeemable so never indulge them with polite explanations. Always lash them with verbal koboko as I do. Only language dumb, irritating and stubborn Negroes understand. |
kestolove95:Better bro 👍👏🏽 |
