@ A-40, co-sign on that shit you wrote there about Asher Roth. i got the album some days ago and to be honest, i've been enjoying it. Was a bit sceptical in the beginining (especially since every white rapper that comes out is being compared to Slim), but the trick is. . . . simply don't compare 'em. listen to Asher Roth as Asher Roth, not as Em. he has the same knack for wordplay, multies as his predecessor, delivery is on point with the kind of beats he rides on (lazy-sounding beats with a ting of jazz in 'em). |
@ Sauron, dude, base not your discernment on reviews by iTunes, base it on what your ears hear. . . . .and what HIPHOP magazines and sites say, not what the likes RollingStone, iTunes, Amazon say - companies that are most notably business-oriented and not hiphop heads. be honest with yourself, compare this album with MMLP and see for yourself how dissapointing it is. for someone of his calibre, it sounds just like another one of those albums. |
@ Sauron, dude, i'm not here about to get into any dumbass arguement. My arguments/judgements are based solely on facts and observation, yours are usually based on sentiments. i simply listened to the said Eminem album 3 days back. before hand, the singles he released on radios were crapness and discouraging to the average hiphop head. out of curiosity and a mind to be neutral, i listened to the album. get it into your thick skull, the album is dissapointing. every serious hiphop i know/in general compare his albums to MMLP because they hold that classic album as the standard. the people giving that album 4.5 mics. . . lol. . . the same rolling stones shitting over themselves to give Kanye West's 808's And Heartbreaks a classic . dude, are you even friggin' serious? are you even a hiphop head or a passive listener who's just a blind Eminem fan? Gawd, that had me crackin'. |
Sauron, you are simply over-hypin' the Underground track by Eminem. Em excels where it comes to the delivery and lyrical dexterity on that song, but subject matter wise, the song is meaningless. it's not an exceptional song. methinks the reason you're raising a storm over that song (and a few others) in particular is because, the Relapse album has little to offer. i have heard the album back to back, at least thrice now, and my perception of it is dissapointing. to be fair to Em, this album is far better than that humongous crap called Encore he released some years back. Every hip-hop head who knows his shit, (both online and offline) have expressed dissapointment about the album. just check the reviews online. . . hell, i would argue Asher Roth's album was a far better effort than Relapse. the evidence is in the good looks/reviews he's been getting. after listening to that Relapse album, had to pick up Proverb's The Book Of Proverb for some of that mic science. . . @ kaydee, you done listened to Write Of Passage? i'm trying to get that album. . . |
i can't paste the whole lyrics but then, Dwayne Tryumf's I Don't Pack A 'Matic song did it for me, off his Mark Of The Peace EP. |
i haven't copped the album, but judging from what i've heared so far (3 A.M, We Made You, Crack A Bottle), Em simply should have stayed in retirement. obviously, consistency both lyrically and in album production is a problem for him. . . |
khai_khai:. . . again, that's not true. people are simply looking for excuses where there are none. M.I using big grammar? are you on some of that yay? his diction is some of the most simple i've seen. the problem you may have (and i guess other peeps complaining . . .) is that the dude has a knack for wordplay not his diction. besides , ma guy appeals to the masses. anyone who says otherwise simply doesn't know him. . . |
ROOOFFFFLLLMAOO bolaji, you don craze. as in, you don marra finally. ![]() Gawd. . . ! |
Mode freestylin' ? i know you modo groupies have an extra holes for d**kridin', but you fuckerers need to wipe the c*um off ya faces. always making errthing a Rugged/Mode competition. . . pathetic individuals. . . |
Now now Hybrid. . .i done told you before, that's no way talking to Mukina. let em bygones be bygones, we all need to get past that shit. this section ain't what it used to be. man, i miss those days. . . |
i flow in. . . / . . .a manner distinct, let it pop like a test for hydrogen/* what it is, 'Brid? i see a lot of us have taken a break from the rap section. . . |
emm, asha, you once said Owerrians do not listen to wannabe guys and only those that are more original. Now i ask, how original is elDee's Big Boy? the same accent change occurs (though minutely) when eldee switches from english to pidgin to Yoruba. look, i still stand, the root is exposure. MI doesn't have enough in Owerri. . . |
ROFLMAO!!! you had me in stitches there.lol, look i'm tryin' to be understanding here, ok, help me out. my bad, if you were offended by my previous posts .now kindly, please can you tell me the songs reigning in Owerri? |
on point, chi. co-sign with that shit you wrote up there. |
@ asha; just exactly what the question says. what kinda songs do they listen to in Owerri? what are the songs gettin' masssive airplay in the media, right now? |
no offense, but what kinda songs do they listen to in Owerri? |
audio:. . . and tracks like Anoti, Blaze Area are not hits or are you shittin' me? do you even listen to the guy's music? fa Christ's sake, the case in point here is them Owerrians don't have exposure to him, simple. if radios don't play you, you don't get to be known in a particular area, it's simple logic. what someone like MI simply needs to do is create a buzz via the media. they don't feel him simply because they don't know him, c'est finni. besides. . . Akanchawa is still the shit in Owerri, take it or leave it ![]() |
lol, that banom dude must be perpetually high on some of that guud Sat Guru Cali Green ![]() |
from audio; For longevity and the headline shows though, i think he will need to focus on more than just punchlines and rhyming words for the sake of it (my major gripe with him). And he will definitely need a hit track that appeals to the masses.i disagree with this post. If you've actually been listening to the dude, you'd know M.I's emphasis is usually more on delivery than punchlines and metas. it is evident in his album Talk About It and the Illegal Music mixtape. an artiste droppin' metas and punches in a song doesn't necessarily mean his overall emphasis is on those categories. as a matta fact, most of em metas dropped were on his mixtape. other than that, what's with the "And he will definitely need a hit track that appeals to the masses. . ." comment? HAVE YOU ACTUALLY LISTENED TO HIS ALBUM? the M.I songs getting massive airplay on radios in Lag, what are they? shit-tracks? ROFL, dude, don't make me laff in Greek. if songs like Blaze, Teaser, Area, Fast Money Fast Cars, Anoti are not hits, then please define what makes a song a hit. the fact that he didn't get crowd feedback in Owerri points to other factors - either he doesn't have enough buzz or radioplay/media exposure in the said Owerri or them Owerri people still listen to Zim Zimakoy Nwaneri And His HighLife Boys ![]() besides. . . . i thought Akanchawa was the hit track in Owerri ![]() |
MojiEsther:errr. . . point of correction, Ajasa was and still is Nigeria's first Yoruba rapper. he was out and had a mixtape as far back as '99 or 2000 (if my memory serves me right). AY's first appearance was in '02 and manz just dissappeared into thin air. looking back in retrospect, Ajasa was better back then. he had the raw edge that is seen manifest in Da Grin's style/delivery. anywayz, as at now, Da Grin's the better. . . |
yeah the 'Smith back in the biz, i keep illin' like a virus replecatin'/ plus i drop that sick ish like diaorrhea victims defeacatin'/ howzit goin' Shaz? |

Now err body may feel Ja Rule's career's over and shit but during the AfterMath/INC wars, one of Ja's Diss that stung - ". . . Marshall, your mom's a crackhead, your wife's a known slut/ so what happens to Hailie when she grows up?/" - Ja to Eminem. that line stung so tey Eminem had to reference it in his song "Toy Soldiers" also - this line wasn't a diss to anyone in particular, but if it was (lol) ---- ". . . i stick my d*#k in your ear and f*ck what you heard!" - Rakim on Canibus' I Bust Em, You Punish Em |
The Line didn't make me go waoh but it was okay. . . ". . . 99 percent of your fans are high heels" - Canibus (2nd Round Knockouts - LL CoolJ Diss) and then LL's reply : ". . . ask Canibus, he don't understand this/ 'cause 99 percent of your fans don't even exist/" - LL CoolJ ('Bis Diss) |
. dude, are you even friggin' serious? are you even a hiphop head or a passive listener who's just a blind Eminem fan? Gawd, that had me crackin'.
