joseph1832: Its not today food, fuel and electricity spiked, is it? And is it today the nigerian masses experienced fuel, food and power scarcity?
Really? Paper propaganda is what I call all this. Tell me, with all this fastest growing economy in Africa bla bla bla, did the living condition of the average nigerian improve? The living condition of d average Nigerian was far better than it is now - high cost of goods n services now with stagnation or even reduction (job losses) is an indicator. Its not paper propaganda, the same 'paper propaganda' states that Nigeria is presently in a stage of stagflation heading to recession; everyone can fill it. 2015 before handover, 'paper propaganda' stated that Nigeria met d millinium development goal on agriculture and food production two years ahead of 2015 target set by the United Nations, thereby earning a special award by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations- Nigerians felt it in cost of food items. |

DropShot: You know nothing. I mean NOTHING!
Nigeria was fastest economy in Africa on paper and because of oil sale.
And what do you expect when we lost a very large chunk of oil income due to price crash of crude?
It's the same thing with all economies that largely depend on oil for it's survival.
Think deep. U screaming Oil Nigeria met d millinium development goal on agriculture and food production two years ahead of 2015 target set by the United Nations, thereby earning a special award by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. I guess that was PDP influenced. |

Nigeria dropped from d status of: Fastest growing economy in Africa and 3rd fastest growing economy in d world in 2015 before buhari took over to Today Nigeria is not even among d 15 fastest growing economy in Arica If that's not failure what is it? |

DMeanMan: The single treasury account is a milestone! GEJ in his donkey years couldn't implement it.
There is now a minimum government as the number of minsters and government offices has been drastically reduced, same as the cost of governance.
About Fighting insecurity, even a blind man know Nigeria is at least a century ahead of where we were in the Jonathan administration. That Dasuki is still in jail is a little evidence! I On a general note, I live in Nigeria and I know how hard things are right now. Tomato, dollar, fuel and the likes used to be cheaper. The economy used to be more stable. I am aware of these things. But unlike many Nigerians I realize that a lot of things are responsible, not just buhari.
Of course as the head, he takes the blame. All of it. (Another story for another day is why the same Buhari critics didn't lift a finger, or at least a voice during GEJ's time, amidst the very many irregularities, many of which its direct consequence we are suffering today).
Buhari will take the fall for where we are today! I most definitely concur. I only think our support and shared believe in what he is trying to build will be instrumental in helping Buhari win. I'll reply to this as other statements aren't worth talking about e.g. many foreign trips; buhari's pastime. The last govt. initiated d TSA n I wonder y u think they wouldn't v implemented it, they surely would just as d bvn policy was implemented. This government really is running a minimum government having relived many federal civil servants of their jobs n paying half-salary to many more n u expect me to praise them amidst getting loan to travel to China n expenditure on many funny trips? U sure not serious. Fighting insecurity; BH was largely confined to sambisa forest largely due to d increase in cooperation of d AU forces just before d first date of d elections in February which warranted a postponement; n it paid off, elections were held even in villages in Maiduguri. I'm sure that momentum would v been maintained but today; - Fulani herdsmen r holding sway down south; probably a new name for bokoharam in d southern part of d country. - Militancy that died for close to 7 yrs v suddenly ressurected resultant effect in d economic life of d country can't b over exaggerated. -Dasuki's offence is bailable; what's happening there is simply a vendetta. Things are hard! Wow, I'm glad u honest enough to admit but hey, prospects aren't promising! Why buhari critics didn't lift a finger or voice during GEJ time? R u kidding or what, didn't d whole country revolt on subsidy removal? ( a right decision for that matter), well Nigeria was the fastest growing economy in Africa and d economy was booming, why complain Look, buhari has been given far more support internally and externally than GEJ n failure on his part is SIMPLY a result of archaic policies; decision to militarize ND etc Buhari takes d blame of what's happening to d economy n security today 101% but I'm glad he's BEGINNING to realise that this is not 1966 but 2016 n is shifting grounds; returning d pipeline protection contracts, revisiting amnesty programme, forex policy change etc n I wish him well bc I'M a NIGERIAN. |

Politics › Re: If Jonathan Were In Power Now, What Have Happened by wordychap: 7:28am On May 27, 2016 |
Solozzo: Given the shortfall in oil revenue, the wanton corruption in PDP, Nigeria's socioeconomic situation would definitely being worse than today. I believe the following would have happened;
We are lucky GEJ lost the elections. If not :
1. Boko haram overruns Nigeria 2. Heavy fuel scarcity as Govt unable to pay subsidy and suppliers refuse to offload fuel 3? Dollar = 1000naira as Govt prints more money. 4. Niger delta militants on rampage as jona unable to pay amnesty money 5. Mass dismissal of civil servants as Govt unable to pay salaries. 6. Prices of common items would have gone up by 300%
Please refute or add your points. Thanks This is baseless assumption. NOI made plans to tackle d situation esp. reducing recurrent expenditure and blocking leakages. TSA was introduced n IPPIS was started for payment of salaries Many ghost workers were uncovered n by now ALL would v been removed from govt. payroll so expenditure would v come down drastically. This is what would v happened; 1. Subsidy would v been removed. 2. All federal govt. parastatals would v been enrolled on d IPPIS 3. Naira would v been devalued. 4. Minimum wage would v been increased. 5. No civil servant would v lost his/her job. 7. The agricultural sector would STILL b booming. 8. Corruption would v been fought; he promised to but it wouldn't v been as vigorous as it is now. . We would surely not be in this mess we r in now! |

Quakertellicus1: Even if there was no bombing....we still won't benefit....because
1.We need oil to be much higher than that....at least $123 per barrel.....just to even balance the books.
2.We have to pay off a lot of debs incurred when oil was high.
I think it is time we faced the truth.....oil has failed us. Time we forgot about it. and used our brains to take us to the next level. Resource dependency will not save us. Why do u guys talk like this, giving govt. excuses for failure Nigeria gets about 0.58 of crude money n d oil companies take d rest. Even at 1.4m barrels/day production, if d 50 dollars/barrel is sustained we make 1.2billion dollars a month. At d present exchange rate that's more than enough to sustain d country. |
