He has won several political battles and i trust him to come out victorious on this one. We will put an end to this born to rule caliphate in 2019 by aligning with our southern brothers. A united south can defeat the north any day. I trust Tinubu to come up with a contigent plan by 2019. GEJ dared him and today he is in otueke. Let's be optimistic and have a solution seeking attitude. You know they say where there is a will there's a way. If we want this bad enough we just have to explore every avenue to make it work. We've all made it this far; that means we are champion material. lets focus now on surmounting all obstacles in our way. Jethrolite what are the criteria the guarantors have to meet? No one is answering that question. We need to know all the criteria. |

Saintp: Bros I understand. but how many times have you heard or seen NE Vs NW or NW Vs NC battles like we have SW Vs SE etc? Politically the north is one unlike the south that is three so I know what I am saying. Are you aware that Jonathan in his first election won the north-central hands down, he also had high percentage in the north-east? The only place he could not penetrate was the North-west where Buhari is from, while he won the whole southern region. Obasanjo too from when Buhari started contesting in 2003 did not win the north-west while he won the other regions. So the so called "indivisible north" is just the north-west. But if you treat a people as one, soon they will begin to see themselves as one. That's what southerners keep doing and when you decide to make everything strictly regional nobody will ever win |

Saintp: You are 100% correct. The north is the king here. They can dump the SW and realign with SS/SE. The reality is that the north will always have their way if they so desire. SW, SE, SS can't still do without the north politically. You people need to stop talking about the north as if it is one Geo-political zone. We have northwest, northeast and north-central just like we have Southwest, southeast and south-south. A southerner can win in some parts there just like a Northerner can win in some parts in the south. Generalization is for the intellectually lazy. People should learn more about their own country. It is becoming depressing reading people's comments here. |

seunmsg: I have read so many comments about how Yoruba's are betrayals and why they should learn from the current crisis in APC not to trust and work with northerners again. Funny enough, nobody is talking about Oyegun's betrayal. Tinubu single handedly made Oyegun APC chairman. Oyegun stood no chance against Tom Ikimi but Tinubu stood his ground and Oyegun won. Ikimi angrily left the party in shame. So, why should Oyegun betray his benefactor?
Again, if aligning with the north is so bad, why is Oyegun aligning with northern cabal in APC to fight a southern brother, friend and benefactor. Is there no lessons for him to learn as well? It is no big deal for an Edo man to align with the northern cabal against a fellow southerner but it is always a taboo when a Yoruba man works with the north. Such double standard cannot bring any southern unity. We have heard different names mentioned in this whole northern "betrayal" thing. Here are names that have been linked with it: Fashola Fayemi El-rufai Amaechi Atiku Oyegun I look at the list and southerners dominate it, yet people are still peddling the old narrative. It's a real boring, boring world we live in. |

ol2012: My dear cohort 2 participants,
I'd like to advise that we cool down a bit on this issue of guarantor(s). While the concern of most of us as expressed so far is quite understandable. (Its truly not easy getting a guarantor) I'm unable to hide the fact that I'm really worried about how mr. Olowozain has been vehement in opposing it. To start with, the moment I realized collateral won't be required(even before applying), I knew guarantor(s) must be involved. What then did I do? The owner of the facility where my funded equipment will be sited became my would-be guarantor. Since the equipment BOI is buying will be sited inside her property, it was easy convincing her to stand as guarantor. She can always monitor me as we operate and keep me on my toes if need be.
I was a bit surprised when Olowozain mentioned that FG can guarantee us. FG truly guarantees state govts accessing foreign loans, but that is simply because, they know that if state govts default on such loans, the funds can be deducted from their monthly allocations. You see, I once worked in a financial institution where we granted an unsecured(without collateral and guarantor) loan to a customer. What happened next? the customer absconded and we were unable to recover the loan until I left. Now, if FG decides to guarantee us and some participants(as their utterances on this issue clearly suggest) decide to abscond. How would BOI recover the loan and make this laudable initiative sustainable? I ask this because some participants may actually have this in mind judging by their utterances.
I strongly believe the guarantor clause is not to make accessing the loan difficult, but to ensure all beneficiaries are committed to repaying thereby making the initiative sustainable.
Now I'm also not against whatever social media campaign we decide to do towards making the loan requirement easier, as long as it is done in a mature and coordinated manner.
Dear mr Olowozain, may I know the monetary value of the two certificates you referred to in the bolded? Are you saying BOI can dispose the certificates to recover their money in case of default? So this woman if the business fails (God forbid) and you are not able to repay, even if you don't abscond will carry the wahala with her head? |

AyaSunday: Guys, they actually mentioned guarantors in their terms/conditions at the very beginning of the registration. Though it was hidden amongst a list of almost endless terms but I got a wind of the guarantor part. The only cross I have with them is that, they didn't make it clearly known to intended participants when filling the form. You know hardly will anyone read up the terms/conditions page while fillng the online form.
The best is to just believe they'll ask for guarantor for every successful candidate so everyone should prepare for it. If they don't ask, maybe on a case by case basis, then good for you . I saw the guarantor part but they did not say how many or what they are suppose to stand for you for. I have been thinking about a way to collect contacts of loyalist to push this campaign. Nobody needs to be afraid, it's going to be on social media. We must act o. Closed mouths don't get fed. |

Now we all are seeing what the outcome might be. if the previous administration can introduce youwin, why this administration can't? I said all these training for 3 months and at the end of the day many may end up unsuccessful, but still that Olowozain attacked me that my point are aggressive to the government and not assertive. now see their unnecessary policy coming up when the going is right near fruitful. I will still repeat it that I'm ashamed to found myself as a Nigerian. Like I've said on this thread before, a people get the kind of leaders they deserve. Even if this was meant to be a scam, if we do our own bit and mount sustained pressure on them we will get what's ours o. We just need to be a united group. Jethrolite: There is no disconnect anywhere, this was the plan from the very beginning but they hid the guarantor side from us and told us the only thing they wanted was our result. If they had said anything about guarantor in the beginning, very few people would have shown interest and people would have heaped insults on the government. They only succeeded in delaying the insults because it is very much on its way. This programme was made to replace youwin and it should live up to such standards. This government condemned every single thing Jonathan did including Youwin, now look at the rubbish programme they replaced it with because we're broke. When it's time to drink tea in Aso rock, Nigeria is not broke but when the youth stands to gain, Nigeria is broke.
It will be absolutely crazy for me to start my tech business with a loan knowing fully well how long such business takes to mature, in the first few years it will make little or no money and gather momentum as user base increases. Just imagine if nairaland.com was started with this kind of loan, would it have survived to this day. I know there is no disconnect anywhere, I'm just saying they better be joking. I think I remember seeing the guarantor thing somewhere though on BOI site, but they did not give details. They put 10 billion naira all over the news to get people excited. Too bad it worked; I am already excited and I am going to get what's mine. |

Jethrolite: If they stick to this guarantor bullshit then I'll only do my best to get to Lagos and snap some vain glory pictures then give this programme my middle finger. Who told the organizers that this is how western nations became great-by taking our results and asking for guarantors just because of a bullshit loan.
I feel very sad for this country, those in power and policy makers are blind to the realities of our present state. I heard the excuse for converting this programme from a grant to a loan is because the nation is broke. When it is the time of citizens to gain from government, we always have to bear a selfish cost but when it's their turn to fly private and engage in all sorts of stupendous spending, suddenly the money becomes available to be squandered.
Let me get to the stage where these crazy requirements come up and I may just throw in the towel because this good for nothing government that has nothing to offer us wants to use us to trade market. Mortgage the education we spent years to receive and put our relatives in a dilemma. Let's just make it to the very last stage of the program. My philosophy of life is that nothing is given; you gotta take it. I don't know what Buhari's intentions are but I'll be damned if I am going to let them waste my data and funds on a program only to be given requirements I can't meet. I will lead a social media campaign the stench of which they cannot stand. I know the negative feedback from across the nation is already piling up. There is so much pressure a man can take, even if they are politicians. I have aluta in my DNA. We won't just roll over and play dead. I want to believe there is just a disconnect between the bank, us and the government. We will all end up as one big happy family. |

I know very soon, this programme will boomerang with winners who are unable to make the loan requirements insulting the government. Nigeria is the only country I know in recession where the government tightens money circulation even to critical sectors. I can't wait for 2019 so they can pack their load and go. Even legitimately rich people I know are now in distress. The whole thing is just a complete mess. Is this country cursed or what? The next government is always worse than the previous.
