AreaFada2: He made a very sick comment. Disgusting. His comment is not sick to me. She is a minor by Nigerian law but in some places in this world she is not. Do you know that in America people can get married even though they are below eighteen if they have their parent's consent? I have always wondered what is that special thing that happens in a person's brain at 18 that could not have happened when he or she is 16 or 17. He broke Nigerian law. Finish. |

Jethrolite: I did accountability partner a long time ago. The 360 assessment is what I have no clue of. I think the 360 assessment is looking strange to you because they are questions that would have made sense before taking the courses but after completing it now and learnt what you have they don't make sense anymore. I have decided to approach the first part it as if I was just starting the program then take the second part as someone who has completed the program. That's kinda how I understand it. |

Jethrolite: Honestly I have no idea, even the guys I know in cohort 2 are not doing it because we don't have a clue. Weren't we supposed to have done the 360 assessment thing at the beginning of the program then do it again at the completion of the courses? It looks like I only did the pre program survey and not the 360 Assessment. Even the accountability partner thing, I just went to fill it now. |

MabraO: Simple question u can't answer
Wetin concern Ayelala concern oduduwa?
Simply answer what is d meaning of oduduwa in Yoruba shikena!! You are the one claiming Ayelala, I did not claim Oduduwa. Don't repeat ignorance passed on to you by people just because they are from your place. I speak to you as a qualified historian not as a Yoruba person. |

dragonking3: So you don't know the meaning of oduduwa that you claim to be decendants of? SMH I do not claim to be a descendant of Oduduwa. I have never said so anywhere. I know about all the controversies regarding Oduduwa and his possible origin and the origin of the Yoruba people. I am talking to you as a qualified historian, not as a yoruba person. Ayelala feared in Benin is a deity in Ilaje ondo state. He is claiming a deity in his post that he does not know the meaning of it's name. |

dragonking3: What does oduduwa mean in Yoruba? I am not seeking clarification on oduduwa. I have my views on that and it is not mainstream Yoruba view. Ayelala in Ilaje dialect where the deity is very popular means "The world is big". No Ilaje person would even try to think of a meaning. It is very obvious. A child will tell you the meaning. What is the meaning of Ayelala in bini? |

plaetton: It wasn't my business to probe him. We are tight friends for a long time because we keep religion out of our friendship. My discussions with the children had absolutely nothing to do with religion, but on the innocent curiosity of children. If my atheistic worldview was a factor in his reaction, then it still dovetails with my point that religious beliefs tend to snuff out scientifically curiosity. But this case is a poor example. You made an assumption. |

plaetton: Most religious people, Abrahamic religions, think that scientific curiosity and exploration, robs their God of his mystery and majesty. The more we demystify the universe, the less the need for superstitions and myths to fill in the gaps.
Therefore, my friend's reaction was just probably a programmed knee-jerk reaction.
I see that type of reaction all the time. You cannot make assumptions for your friend. That black and white view of the world that leaves no other shades is harmful to everyone and you are guilty of it. Unless your friend already knows that you are an atheist who is eager to share his unbelief with children, he shouldn't act that way. I know Jehovah's witnesses because I used to be one. They regard science as a tool to prove the existence of God rather than as something to fear. You should next time try to find out why he acted the way he did. |

plaetton: ^ ^ Going back to my reference to the international Space Station(ISS), I have another story worth telling.
Sometime ago this year, I visited very good old friend's house. Being the kindred spirit that I am, his two young kids took to me instantly. I was happy with their energy and curiosity. They bombarded with questions one after the other about science and nature. We eventually got around to the International Space Station. They had never heard of it before. I took the cue to tell them all about, showed them the amazing pictures with smartphone. In fact, I went a step further by showing them a live feed from the ISS on a smartphone app. The excitements on their faces was simply priceless.
Then the father walked in, they ran to him to show him what they just discovered.
Guess what he did ?
He scoffed, scolded and told them to stop that nonsense.
I was shocked, but not too shocked. He is a Jehovah's Witness.
Just Imagine the healthy curiosity of millions of Nigerian children, Nigeria's future, shot down and relegated every single day by middle East stone bullshytes. Your story is incomplete. Why did he scoff? Why did he scold them? |
