"The writer probably knows nothing about Bornu or the NE but simply typed the scripts as he was told."
Who paid for it- Diezani? Jonathan? Whatever it is, I see the hand of Israelites written all over it. Only them have the audacity to tell or sponsor such bold faced LIES!! Interesting at the quotation marks in your post. There are few individuals(staffs of mine) who are indigenous Bornu residents, daily they in communication with their wives and children. They complain, most times bitterly, of the attacks of Boko Haram in their communities and the cover-up of the Army. When we discuss after day's work, we pity and sympathize with them. There are those with good heart. WHEN YOU LIE LIKE THIS, without confirmation if some individuals who know people who reside there read your post, they will curse you. Be careful. |
Politics › Re: Senate Asks Amaechi To Resign by Xano(m): 10:31pm On Apr 11, 2016 |
The Nigerian Senate has asked the Minister of Transport, Chibuike Amaechi, to resign his appointment as Minister or apologize to the Senate and Nigerians over the Lagos-Calabar rail project that has generated a lot controversies in the last 48 hours. Members of the National Assembly and the presidency have been at loggerheads after media reports alleged that the National Assembly members had removed the Lagos-Calabar rail project from the budget presented to it by President Buhari. The reports alleged that the National Assembly members diverted the money meant for the said project to the Lagos-Kano project, favoring the Northern region. Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara and Chairman House Committee on Appropriation Abdulmumin Jibrin, via their twitter handles refuted the claims while the Chairman Senate Committee on Transport, Gbenga Ashafa, in a statement he released, said although the project was not included in the original budget forwarded to the National Assembly by Buhari, Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi approached his committee to include the said project. Read the senate's position on the matter below... The Senate today (Monday, April 11) advised the Presidency to come clean with Nigerians on the 2016 Budget and stop engaging in surreptitious campaigns of calumny against the Senate in order to cover up its serial errors. Reacting to claims in the media credited to the Executive arm of government on the 2016 budget, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, in a statement in Abuja, said the National Assembly had bent backwards to wring a coherent document out of the excessively flawed and chaotic versions of the budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly. He said : "while the executive is mandated to prepare and lay before the National Assembly a proposed budget detailing projects to be executed, it should be made clear that the responsibility and power of appropriation lies with the National Assembly. If the presidency expects us to return the budget proposal to them without any adjustments, then some people must be living in a different era and probably have not come to terms with democracy." "We make bold to say however, that the said Lagos-Calabar rail project was not included in the budget proposal presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari and we challenge anyone who has any evidence to the contrary to present such to Nigerians." Since the beginning of the 2016 budget process, it is clear that the National Assembly has suffered all manners of falsehood, deliberate distortion of facts, and outright blackmail, deliberately aimed at poisoning the minds of the people against the institution of the National Assembly. We have endured this with equanimity in the overall interest of Nigerians. Even when the original submission was surreptitiously swapped and we ended up having two versions of the budget, which was almost incomprehensible and heavily padded in a manner that betrays lack of coordination and gross incompetence, we refused to play to the gallery and instead helped the Executive to manage the hugely embarrassing situation it has brought upon itself; but enough is enough." "This latest antics of this particular minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is reckless, uncalled for and dangerously divisive. Apart from setting the people of the southern part of the country against their northern compatriots, it potentially sets the people against their lawmakers from the concerned constituencies and sets the lawmakers against themselves. This manner of reprehensible Mischief has no place in a democracy. We hereby demand from Mr. Amaechi a publicly tendered apology if he is not able to show evidence that the Lagos-Calabar road project was included in the budget. Otherwise, he should resign forthwith. "Finally, by the provision of Section 81 (4) (a) and (b) of the constitution, the President is allowed to sign the budget and kick-start the implementation of the other areas that constitute over 90 percent of the budget where there is agreement between both arms, even as we engage ourselves to resolve the contentious areas, if there were any. We therefore maintain that even this contrived discrepancies are not sufficient excuse not to sign the budget into law." "We therefore urge President Buhari to sign the 2016 budget without any further delay. For every additional day that the president withholds his assent from the bill, the hardship in the land, which is already becoming intolerable for the masses of our people gets even more complicated. Certainly, as primary representatives of the people we shall not vacate our responsibility and watch the people continue to suffer unduly." Signed Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs http://www.metronaija.com/2016/04/senate-ask-amaechi-to-resign.html
https://m.facebook.com/senatengr/posts/999410963447579?fbt_id=999410963447579&lul&ref_component=mbasic_photo_permalink_actionbar&_rdr#s_d72792c1e80ec35640a49ce197dacb02 |

Na we Igbos still get that ''leave am na our son'' mentality Interesting. I understand your post, but, to compare General TY Danjuma and Dasuki(though a prince) is wrong. Influence(though negative) pulls more weight in Nigeria. Both men are not at the same level. Buhari(EFCC) may avoid this topic of 'persecute', like Buhari(EFCC) will not go after some influential corrupted Northern elders. There are young entrepreneurs in Nigeria with marketable ideas, but banks or loan institutions are not enthusiastic. They seek foreign partnerships(technical), but those investors will politely inform them your country's forex policy among others would hinder its growth and sustainability. Cant the C.B.N name this owners of this $20 Billion? who are these Nigerians sitting on top of this money?
The Government should identify, arrest and prosecute those Nigerians who are guilty for the slide in the value of the naira by embarking on dollar speculation.
This Government is working. I leave with this quote: Seun: Currently, the only way to bypass the FOREX restriction is to operate a domiciliary account and link it to your card and receive deposits from abroad. I guess they will start restricting domiciliary accounts as well soon, after which they will have to forbid Nigerians from opening foreign accounts to bypass that restriction as well. One stupid decision leads to another. God forbid that we should let the naira find its level in order to incentivize Nigerians to earn dollars legally by exporting their goods and services. |

How does this government begin to even convince us that it saved the nation such exorbitant amount when her 2016 budget is replete with errors, duplications and frauds so massive that reading through the items analysed by various media made one tremble in shame at the outright lack of attentiveness that was invested into its preparations? How can you be so grossly incompetent in one aspect and then claim you are opposite in another? For a President who embodied the image of military discipline and asceticism, this budget deconstructs and demystifies him. From the way the budget was presented and withdrawn amidst lies and denials, a lot has been going wrong suggesting poor administrative capability. ... The housing scheme is only affordable by the elites. You cannot build a house in Lagos without paying some tattered uneducated outlaws called omo omile, after you've settled the legal land deals with the state and local governments
A woman pepper seller who barely sells 2k a day would pay hell of a tax to same set of legalized agberos.

Fashola, power ministry isn't island of Lagos. Whatever increment you impose, these arent Lagos, Abuja or PHC consumers, there are also sokoto's, taraba's, kebbi's and other region where 1k is a great deal. Thank you. You made valid points. Small scale businesses(like business centres, shops) who use high voltage appliances may transfer the expenses to customers. This increment is not needed now. |

Isaiah 4:1 The Message (MSG) 4 That will be the day when seven women will gang up on one man, saying, “We’ll take care of ourselves, get our own food and clothes. Just give us a child. Make us pregnant so we’ll have something to live for!”

The failure of Boko Haram was fighting a CONVENTIONAL war against the Nigerian Army. They were seizing towns and villages using fast vehicles. That is conventional warfare. They seized more than five LGAs and declared a Republic. That is conventional warfare and that is why they are losing because they cannot beat a conventional force like the NA at that. They became vulnerable to airstrikes and cutting of lines of supply The president was merely stating the obvious which has been discussed extensively in knowledgeable circles in Nigeria. It behoves you to research things well and study before posting on line. Interesting spin. What do you call ISIS? Is there a difference between ISIS and Boko haram?
