Nigeria's media is awash with brown envelope journalists. Little investigative journalism. Journalism is no longer desire to report truth, but paid information.
Information and Culture Minister's budget, much bigger than Agriculture and Education budget is doing a lot of propaganda for this administration. It affects this country's image negatively. |

To fight corruption, sincerity is the key. All corrupted individuals should be prosecuted.
APC is the government at the centre, but they should know that the table(coin) will turn. They will be in opposition one day, then, the government at the centre will do as they were treated(with no pity). |

Islie: Governors, who arm-twisted Okonjo Iweala into signing out our reserves held by Central Bank, are today ministers in the APC government. We are still talking about change and corruption when old things refuse to pass away! These political gimmicks can only carry away gullible or naive Nigerians. “Our Change must change something. How could we continue to talk of change in a static system? How could we be talking of change when the same crew are governors, ministers, senators, and members of the House of Representatives? This is a cyclical devolution of power to the same people who are never out of power! “What sort of change is the President talking about? When will the youth take over when even a governor does not take a bow and go? When shall we plan for the replacement of delinquent leadership? This is what constitutes change. Change is not changing from Jonathan to Buhari, Okoie asked. According to the Cardinal, “Change is behavioural and pervades all levels of society including the family, the church, the mosque, schools, market women and business men. “When we talk of change, we talk of positive-salutary, healthy growth and development oriented change that cuts across the entire gamut of the society. What sort of change is this that ignores the glaring un-equal distribution of national income? It is absurd that the same government that is unable to pay N18, 000 per month to the lowest grade of labour can afford to pay N1.8 Million per month to anyone in the economy. Why must tax payers’ money be used to feed Mr. President and his family? “Why must the tax payers’ money be used to buy brand new exotic vehicles for the legislatures, judges, ministers and governors when they are heavily paid? Why don’t they use loan finance and mortgage finance to buy their cars and houses? This is also a form of looting and it is the cause of grounding the economy and calling in IMF spin-doctor all the time. http://newtelegraphonline.com/buhari-change-causing-despondency-okogie-2/Thank you sir. |

Interesting replies from a good number of individuals here. Some replies indicate they've not smelled the nozzle a fired gun; removed the safety trigger of a gun; been in a gun fight. Some group of people(retired and serving soldiers) have said in series of conversations, that there are rising anger to marginalization of SS and SE. These men had been silent before now.
Some of you, your replies(posts) show you are either ignorant or naïve.
Of recent, some instances stir up anger unlike before. Along Abia - Rivers - Akwa Ibom expressway, there are soldiers from other parts of the country stationed there. The way they treat drivers of transport companies with passengers are stirring up real anger. Instances of such also occur en route through Rivers - Delta, also Abia - Cross River state. The issue of IPOB is no longer beer parlour talk, instances stir up anger to such, even among civilians not to talk of promoters of it. There is growing support for IPOB, which FG is stirring up the more. |

Special treatment of indigene in South-west and by South-westerns on each other is more. Politics › Re: IMF Boss Exposes APC Lies. by Xano(m): 11:59am On Jan 07, 2016 |
hinwazaka: The President and his party came up with the "broke" jingle as a means to convince the IMF to finance their ludicrous, extravagant white elephant projects this year. Remember PTF, and the refineries built in the eighties. The President is a master of corruption and money laundering. This is always his gimmick. But unfortunately for him, his plans were leaked to the opposition and some influential elements in our society. This led to a secret meeting in Stockholm, between some Nigerians, some top western media hotshots and some members of the IMF. In this meeting, the plans of the President backed by verifiable documents and files was laid bare to the foreign attendants of this meeting. Consequently, the truth was made known to the IMF chief, who immediately canceled the discreet and hidden loan application by our government. This is the reason for the EFCC clampdown on the government's perceived enemies, under the guise of corruption. Also the review of the fictitious budget, was brought about by this. We are in trouble. Interesting. So you were aware about the meeting in Stockholm. You are enlightened. Thanks. This administration will find it hard to prove their sincerity. The truth will always be revealed. Trust broken is very hard to earn back. To continuously lie(spin issues, blame others when its false), make them synonymous with 'evil intentions'. |

xtrorp: “Karma comes after everyone eventually. You can't get away with screwing people over your whole life, I don't care who you are. What goes around comes around. That's how it works. Sooner or later the universe will serve you the revenge that you deserve.” - Jessica Brody
In Lagos under 'One Nigeria' there seem to exist a silent economic war of destruction of livelihood, burning of markets in the middle of the night, extortion and harassment of genuine businesses by official area boys and street urchins, illegal/multiple taxing of business owners, in markets where Igbos operate e.g. Tejuoso, Alaba International and Ladipo. And now Oshodi electrical & electronic market.
Many of these attracious deeds are conducted at odd times when the traders won't be available to resist the dastardly acts.
Over the decades in the South-West, the Yorubas have systematically burnt Igbo shops as a guise to hijacking the markets from Igbos.
https://www.nairaland.com/2618835/hoodlums-shut-down-alaba-international
Prior to the 2015 general elections, amidst the threat by the lagoon crooner to drown Igbos, 18 Chisco transport buses were criminally burnt down in Lagos and up till date nothing was done to bring the culprits to book.
What does 'One Nigeria' mean? A deceit where you are empowered to share my crude oil and wealth as 'One Nigeria' while I am considered a migrant to your State whom you're just merely accommodating and may perish in the lagoon at your command.
It is a chaotic situation where the Oba of a place would invite the representative of a people for discussion in his palace as regards a market leadership dispute only to set an ambush for him and unleash hundreds of thugs to flog and disgrace him.
It is an unjust situation where you're licensed to use foul means to destroy my business in your State with outrageous taxes. You can close my business premises at will while your elites continue to shout 'One Nigeria' to cover up the evils and injustices prevalent in the land. And you still expect me to be docile and continue to suffer silently as your hate and envy for my progress soar high.
Now, do you have any case for unity - fake or imaginary?
If you have there would no need fooling and playing to the gallery and shouting 'One Nigeria'. Or have you ever heard 'One Great Britain', 'One United States of America', 'One Germany'? That shows that something is fundamentally wrong which many have been shying away from.
Is it a crime for any person/group to choose to opt out of a relationship?
Strange bedfellows, with irreconcilable value systems that are at best suitable for the individual selves, are not meant to be together! The 102 years of existence attest to that verdict!
Victor Hugo once said "no army can stop an idea whose time has come" and that "one can resist the invasion of armies but not the invasion of ideas". Thank you for this post. You are right. |

While the value of oil is sinking, it remains an asset and it will be the results of feasibility studies for the exploration that will determine the futility or otherwise of this decision, and not the wails of sore losers. Seun: Fellow Nairalanders,
Nairaland loves Igbos and Niger Deltans very much. The thought of being separated from them for any reason is unbearable to us, so we have decided that we will reject any attempt by anyone to use Nairaland to promote the idea of removing Igbos and Niger Deltans from Nigeria.
We have updated rule 9 of Nairaland to reflect this decision. It now says:
I'd like to urge all Nairaland members to respect and obey rule 9. Mynd44 is in charge of enforcing it. If you break this rule, you'll be banned.
Thanks, Seun (Founder Of Nairaland). Interesting. You are the founder of Nairaland, thus, you have the right to make your own rules. That been wrote, your reason is actually shallow. I don't comment on posts about Biafra, but for you to tag the word "Biafra" in rule 9 was immature and knee-jerk reaction. In your rules, I did not observe where it was written same about Arewa, Odua, Hausas and other zones of the country. I guess Nairaland is yours not for Nigeria. |

When IBB went public through his PRO/Adviser: "On General Buhari, it is not in IBB's tradition to take up issues with his colleague former President. But for the purpose of record, we are conversant with General Buhari's so-called holier-than-thou attitude. He is a one-time Minister of Petroleum and we have good records of his tenure as minister. Secondly, he presided over the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, which records we also have. We challenge him to come out with clean hands in those two portfolios he headed. Or we will help him to expose his records of performance during those periods. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. General Buhari should be properly guided." In order words, he(IBB) dared Buhari, then Buhari buckled. Very unfortunate. Buhari knows there were misappropriation of funds under his tenure.
