N3TRAL: David Mark was from the North Central. He's Nigeria's longest serving Senate president. After that Bukola Saraki still from the North Central did 4 years. The North Central cannot do it again.
What happens to the South South? Despite Igbo affinity, we gave Jagaban 25% in almost all the states.
Do you know the implication of an 80% for Obi in the South South like the South East? It would have been 11 States landslide.
How do you discredit how much work the likes of Wike, Akpabio and Oshiomole put in to preach Muslim Muslim Ticket to natives of an area with 98% Christians without mosques?
It's unfair. Una yourbas no dey rate us 😡
Very annoying thread for most of us.
The chairman lost Nasarawa State his State to Labour Party in that same North Central.
Labour party won Plateau State in that same North Central despite producing the campaign chairman, an incumbent Governor.
Benue State was so close that it could have gone anywhere. It's technically a draw between LP and APC just like Lagos. The win margin of APC has no meaning.
If we count Abuja-FCT based on its geography and boundary, APC did not even see 25% there.
North Central voted along religious lines. Kwara is technically Yoruba and Kogi to an extent with Muslim population. Niger State has a massive Muslim population too.
The only christians in Nigeria that didn't give a damn about the Muslim Muslim Ticket apart from the South West were South South christians.
Also consider the fact that APC was the dominant party in the North Central before the elections. KWARA, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa and Plateau states had APC Governors.
South South delivered beyond imagination for a region with only one APC governor who defected. The South South will have at least 2 APC governors on the 29th of May (Delta State and Cross River State). The region is going APC and you must reward the people. Very insightful. |

FreeStuffsNG: With 6 out of 15 Senate seats from South East, the APC will need to get more Senators from the South East to avoid another Saraki/Dogara betrayal but if it is from North Central, they have greater number and much at stake to not tow the party line.
The North Central over delivered. They earned the Senate Presidency. The South East did not work for it
The President-Elect made it clear that reward will be on merit of contribution to his victory at the polls. |
Politics › Re: Senate Presidency Should Go To North Central by XAUBulls: 7:44pm On Mar 10, 2023 |
FreeStuffsNG: The North Central, Benue in particular really did far extra work to make the victory of Asiwaju possible.
Nobody saw it coming. I must commend Niger, Kogi and Kwara too though these 3 states still have an affiliation with the Yoruba.
The Senator must be a Christian though. APC will be naive to give South East the Senate Presidency.
Deputy Senate President for South East is tenable and more strategic.
North central Leaders and Senators must demand and insist on getting the Senate Presidency, they deserve and earned it.Not even the NW of PMB or NE of Sen Lawan worked as hard as they did.
The NC did not do double dealing with Asiwaju and HE Atiku unlike some disloyal APC politicians in NW and NE who betrayed Asiwaju. check my signature for free stuffs! |

FreeStuffsNG: I have looked at the election result and it is best for APC to choose the Senate President among its ranking Senators from any of these North Central states of Benue, Kwara, Kogi or Niger.
Deputy Senate can go to South East. APC needs to reward and consolidate in the North central. |

This case was settled by Supreme court in 2003 in the case of Buhari vs Obasanjo......The supreme court stated that the FCT is considered a state in this section of the constitution....a candidate that has 25% in 2/3rds of 37 i.e. 25 states has met the requirement of the constitution Lol... Nicely put. The English used in the constitution is very clear to those of us who are sound in the language and history. FCT is the 37th state just like Femi Falana, SAN has rightly stated. Tinubu is the greatest of all time. Lekki free trade zone and Eko Atlantic Alone is bigger than all the investments attracted by all former and present Nigerian governors combined. Obi and Atiku are the two most useless among the 4, one only attracted Ogogoro company, the other did not attract anything, he sold everything. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu really impressed me in the NESG video. He's a great technocrat and accountant who worked in ExxonMobil Nigeria and he and Kashim Shetima will perform well through the application of the decentralisation of governance. |

Xscape1993: The evil party.... exactly how the founder of agberos in Nigeria, drug landlord of Africa and the murderer of Funso Williams stole someone's mandate. Only suffering people in Nigeria talk about APC. You are a very ignorant ethnic bigot and your posts on this thread and elsewhere amount to criminal incitement, falsehood and defamation under the existing criminal laws. When the DSS gets you arrested and charged to court, you will be found guilty of incitement. How dare you call Tinubu a drug lord or drug landlord even after CLEAR EVIDENCE from the U.S. government as far back as 2003 states that Tinubu has NO criminal case in the U.S.? Tinubu is NOT a drug baron but worked as a technocrat in senior capacity as an accountant and treasurer with the American energy giant, ExxonMobil in Nigeria. Tinubu travels yearly to the U.S. in his private jet and would have been arrested if he is a drug lord or has a criminal case. He forfeited some money that was paid into his U.S. account by some folks, but the U.S. did NOT take a larger part of his money because he was innocent. If Tinubu was or is a drug baron as of the 1993 case, ALL the money in his U.S. bank accounts would have been seized by the U.S. Federal authorities because Americans do NOT take nonsense from drug barons or drug pushers! 2. Tinubu is NOT the founder of agberos. Agbero is simply a Yoruba word which means to "carry passengers" and is a word used for members of NURTW and the transport union who are members of even bonafide NLC members and they are registered with CAC. It is mainly Ibos who do not understand Yoruba that bastardise and mangle the meaning of agbero. Agberos are not street gangs like you some of you Ibos like to think. Many jobless people migrate from other states to Lagos and some of them end up harassing people for money under drug or alcohol influence does not mean they are the legit agberos. Agberos have been in existence for several decades all over Nigeria before you were born and long before Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007. 3. Funso Williams was NOT killed by Tinubu but there was a robbery at his residence, and some of his stolen items were later found on people who were then arrested for his murder. In fact PDP in Lagos had some fierce internal wranglings and opposition to Funso Williams becoming their governorship candidate. Obasanjo even described PDP as a nest of killers because a lot of prominent politicians like Bola Ige, Marshall Harry and many more were killed in his time as President. |

Soludo and Oshiomole at different times predicted many months before the election that Peter Obi would split PDP's vote. It's highly delusional for anyone to think LP will win core north and majority of votes of the SW when Peter Obi was barely known in those places.

If Lagos is the "no man's land" you insist it is, why does Rhodes-Vivor's ancestry suddenly matter? And if his somehow being "more Lagosian" in his ancestry makes him preferable to the incumbent, doesn't that put the lie to the "no man's land" line of argument?

Biodun556: *On the questionable candidacy of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour BY ADESOJI OLUWO*
By the provisions of Section 77 (2) & (3) of the Electoral Act 2022, every registered political party (Labour Party inclusive) shall maintain a register of its members in both hard and soft copy and that such a register shall be made available to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not later than 30 days before the date fixed for the party primaries, congress or convention.
It is clear from the provisions of Section 177 (1) (c) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, that a person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a state if (c) he is a member of a political party …’ As at the time the register of members of Labour Party was submitted to the INEC, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Labour Party candidate for Lagos State was not a member of the LP. Indeed, he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he obtained nomination form, attended screening to contest for PDP Gubernatorial ticket which was later won by Jandor.
On the 19th June, 2022, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour formally applied for deputy governor candidacy to the PDP flag bearer, Jandor, but his application was refused by the PDP Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate Screening Committee (DGSC) Abuja. In the committee’s words …”Gbadebo Rhodes- Vivour as the Lagos State Deputy Governorship candidate portends danger for the PDP due to the fact of presentation of conflicting information on oaths to the INEC in his previous Senatorial election and to the party which are potent grounds for disqualification as enshrined in Section 182 (1) (j) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended”
The Labour Party governorship primary election was conducted and Mr. Ifagbami Awamaridi emerged as its candidate. Having won the primaries, Mr. Awamaridi’s name and particulars were forwarded to the INEC by Labour Party. However, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour joined the party in July 2022 and on 10th August 2022 he was named LP candidate while Awamaridi’s name was wrongfully substituted. This case is currently in court (Supreme court) and if we all know the principality called Lagos APC godfather, this is landmine that must be avoided. Don’t be shocked when Supreme Court will announce that Labour Party has no candidate in Lagos base on the aforementioned From the foregoing, it is my candid opinion that by the community reading of provisions of constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended; the Electoral Act 2022 & INEC Guidelines and Party Constitution; votes for Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of Labour Party in Lagos State would become wasted votes as he is not qualified to contest this election. It’s not just enough to blindly ride on the wave created by Mr Peter Obi’s Feb. 25th Election and waste this golden opportunity of rescuing Lagos.
Let’s be wise and choose a better alternative with no constitutional land mines.

Iamgrey5: Of course Same as Salvage, Coker etc.
However, the Boy(LP presidential candidate) doesn't know that in Lagos we have different Yoruba groups that have settled in Lagos at different times even before the returning slaves ever came into Lagos island.
Places like Abule Egba, Ijesha, Ikoyi, Sango-tedo represent different Yoruba sub groups such as Oyo, Egba and Ijesha who settled in Lagos at different times.
We also have Tapa (Yoruba way of referring to Nupe) families that came into Lagos just like we have in Ibarapa part of Oyo state. One of their prominent Son is Balogun Tapa Oshodi.
This is sperate from Awori, Ilaje, Ijebu and Ijebu-remo which are different Yoruba sub groups amongst the original aboriginals of Lagos State.
So for him to come from a family of returning slave and question other Yorubas authencity in Lagos is actually very silly. Most returnee former slaves were not of Lagos Island origin or Awori indigenes, but chose to make Lagos Island as a settlement point and became part of the successful and rich Yoruba elite from which they came from originally. Returnee ex-captives or liberated Yorubas were majorly of Egba, Ijesha, Ketu (in Benin Republic), Oyo, Ijebu, Ekiti, Owu origins who returned in the 1800s to Lagos Island and Abeokuta from Sierra Leone, Brazil, Cuba, USA (e.g., the 2 Vaughan brothers whose Egba Yoruba father was a Prince and was captured and taken to South Carolina, U.S.A as a captive on a slave ship just after 1800). The Brazilian returnee and first Nigerian British pounds millionaire, Candido da Rocha was of Ijesa origins from today's Osun. The Brazilian returnee and legal giant, Sir. Adeyemo Alakija was an Egba and he dropped his foreign Brazilian name Placido Asumpcao, and adopted a new Yoruba name called Alakija. |

Fyi, please check the Portugal map on their coast you will find another city named Lagos which has been in existence long time before the Portuguese people reached Lagos in circa1600 ad.
Why did they named Eko Lagos? It was recorded in our 1960 primary school history class that the coastal areas of the Eko Islands resembles that of the city of Lagos in Portland and so the Portuguese sailors begin to call it Lagos.
So many other cities of the world has been named by the European explorers to suit their exploration activities and purposes of remembering those locations in their voyages.
I think the world is currently enjoying a population filled with people that could not navigate to the truth and true knowledge.
Bible predicted that knowledge will increase truly but of what use when it is not well appreciated by the people for their betterment. Well said. |
