Alhaji Atiku won Osun State hands down & got some votes in Ekiti State too, but neither won any South-Eastern State nor got substantial votes from there.
Yet, they accuse Northerners for voting fellow Northerner(s), while they end up doing the same.

raumdeuter: POL 501 Tinubu masterclass (Sparsky vs Fisher 1972) To followers of Chess, The game between Sparsky and Fisher in 1972 was dubbed the game of the century
I will use some Chess analogies to describe this historic victory of Asiwaju Tinubu
The Tinubu masterclass
Opening move decided to go a conservative Sicilian opening
In 1999 he won Lagos State governor
In 2003 when OBJ deceived all SW governors and the AD to not float their candidate that they should support him and in turn he will ensure they retain their seat, Tinubu disagreed with AD leaders on that arrangement. tsunami swept all AD governors only Tinubu survived
Queens gambit declined
He left AD, formed his own party AC and he was the only governor By 2007 to grow the party he reached out to Oshiomole offered him the AC ticket in Edo vs Prof Osunbor. Oshiomole lost Atiku and OBJ got into a fight a major fight, Atiku was in charge of PDM he was the strongest Northern politician and as the heir to Yar Adua, OBJ used YarAdua younger brother Umaru to break Atikus hold on PDM Tinubu saw an opportunity to woo a powerful politician and get on his good side, he gave Atiku a platform to contest the 2007 election obviously Atiku had no path to win. He made Ben Obi Atikus vice. They lost but Tinubus profile started rising Short side castling
He sponsored candidates in AC all over Nigeria. He brought many politicians treated badly and denied a ticket into his fold e.g Ngige Akume He brought Fashola a technocrat as governor but didn't hand over the political keys to him Fasholas performance became the standard for ACN to campaign and win many hearts across the nation Knight advance
Below is the critical part of the game which would have effect in the future
The criminal elections of 2007 conducted by Obasanjo which was reputed to be the worst election in Nigerian history handed Tinubu a huge opportunity He found an ally in Justice Salami of the appeal court who was instrumental in restoring the Oshiomole and Fayemi and Aregbesola into power AC grew into 4 states. Open file Bishop
Mimiko of Labour Party who was denied the ticket was also in tribunal vs Agagu. Tinubu approached him to provide logistic support with belief that Mimiko will decamp into ACN. Mimiko won but declined to join ACN
By 2011 Tinubu spread beyond the SW approached strong politicians who were denied a ticket or chased out of strong parties but knew he couldn't take on the FG alone at this time. He was the 3rd force in 2011
Mid game starts with slight positional disadvantage
Buhari controlled all Northern states with his new CPC, Jonathan and PDP controlled most SE NC and SS states CPC and PDP were stalemate here comes tie breaker Tinubu. Buhari in his idealistic thinking felt he could do by picking Bakare a Pastor with zero structures. He didn't agree to Tinubus terms. GEJ saw the opportunity approached Tinubu who tactically floated a dummy Ribadu and Fola Adeola(2 moslems who had zero political structures and were barely politicians) he knew weren't going anywhere. Tinubu stepped down all ACN machinery in the SW and allowed the PDP a free ride. Now he has become a major power broker who tactically made Jonathan president without appearing to. Knight fork
After winning in 2011, Jonathan started some aggressive moves to break Tinubu so he won't have to beg everytime. One of such moves was to make a SW Mulikat Adeola Speaker, Jonathan thinking was to raise a powerful SW politician that will be an alternative to Tinubu. Tinubu knew this was an act of aggression on their gentleman handshake and he mobilized the ACN reps to reject Mulikat and support Tambuwal, Counterplay sacrificed pawn to gain positional advantage
Buhari lost 2011 again and started crying on TV and was hopeless. As a man of strategy Tinubu knew Buhari was at his low and vulnerable point, he approached Buhari this time Bubu was more than willing Tinubu started the cleanup of Buhari's image from a clueless out of touch military religious extremist guy to this misunderstood charming, introvert, gap toothed, strong man that Nigeria needed at this critical time to get rid of corruption and PDP indiscipline This chess player goes into deep analysis and thinking
Thus APC was birthed with the plan to use Buhari's popularity with Tinubu's money and skilled politicking to push Buhari into power but this time Tinubu was to pick Buhari's vice. APC also won over Atiku after he lost out in PDP and breakaway PDP governors. Atiku came into the convention ground hoping to buy the ticket as usual Buhari has never done any real competitive primary in a party everyone didn't worship him. Primary ground, Buhari was stunned about how Atiku was about to steal the ticket right there with money . Until Tinubu matched Atiku dollar for dollar and Buhari won the ticket Middle game management used knight to fend off offensive
This is where the game starts getting interesting.. Now the deal was for Tinubu ACN to provide the Vice. Tinubu knew he was interested in succeeding Buhari. And giving a strong vice would build up the Vice politically over 8yrs and might build enough goodwill to succeed Buhari This was Tinubu's biggest masterstroke. He gave Buhari an Osinbajo who was smart but has the political clout of a 13yr old girl. Osinbajo was a very safe choice, he was not popular nor charismatic enough to gather the clout to state Jagaban in the face There were other options like Fashola and Fayemi but they were risky and could get ambitious and endear themselves to people Buhari asked Tinubu for 3 choices, Tinubu returned with one choice an unknown Yemi Osinbajo who will complete 8yrs and have less to nothing in political power to challenge for the seat Queen advance
Buhari won election and Tinubu is in a good position Nationally acknowledged as the brain behind the success, thus issues started cropping up, fissures grew in the hurriedly assembled APC. Saraki wanted more than he was offered and broke the party, Buharis packaging has now begun to fall off, the makeup was beginning to melt and the man behind the mascara was beginning to show and its not pretty, Tinubu was schemed out by Buharis CPC friends including Abba Kyari and ElRufai, Things were not going to plan Should he pull out of the APC, blurt out or maintain status quo and reach out to enemies The Queen beat a tactical retreat
Throughout Buharis regime, many party internal issues came up, Buhari stayed aloof, Osinbajo stayed on the fence but Tinubu dove head on into the murky waters, aggressively supporting his men, He got bruised in many places like Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Kano, Oyo but he stuck to his men and was even rumored to be schemed out Officer exchange, Sac Bishop for Knight
Comes 2022, Tinubu has broken into the ranks of governors in his party and showing loyalty to them in times of trials won him a lot of die hard loyalists like Oshiomole and Ganduje who will lay their lives for him By now Tinubu had taken control of all the APC structures and wanted the party to go for a direct primary, Some felt there was no way they could match the network of Tinubu in a direct primary and pushed for indirect where only chosen delegates voted Tinubu called upon his network of Governors and allies when Buhari wanted to anoint Lawan, they stood up and insisted it goes to the South. He won the primary Rook to center, End game starts with significant positional advantage
Opposition started panicking, the were split into multiple factions Obi, Kwankwanso G5 and Atiku. Tinubu though weakened by many of the policies under Buhari including Cash swap, fuel scarcity, general insecurity, failing health, etc. His generals stood behind him like Allied forces stood behind General Eisenhower in the battle of Normandy in the final offensive against Nazi Germany. When the boats were rocking his Northern governors came out forcefully, He then found an invaluable ally in the G5 and Wike who was aggrieved from PDP and swore to neutralize Atiku everywhere. Late hour Wike declared for Tinubu, neutralizing an important state for Obi and Atiku Rook moves to the 7th rank
Elections are conducted Tinubu leading and appears ready to make his checkmate move on May 29 when he is expected to be sworn in as Commander in Chief
You can see it was a gradual ascension filled with scheming which he lost some but won many This man called Jagaban who many people do not like but smart people deeply respect He understands politics. He is smart enough not to fight anyone dirty thus always leaving the room for reconciliation open, the power of compromise give & take, persuasion and when to use the power of money
Most times those who fight Tinubu can only do it on the pages of paper By the time you meet him, His humor, his slow thick voice, his offer he will give you, You most likely will leave him calm and ready to compromise A classic piece about a technocrat and former top shot of Exxon Mobil in Nigeria...'Bola Tinubu! |

pansophist: Yes. People from the ivory coast, for example, are not even trying to leave their country like Nigerians, that should tell you something, Their passport does not need transit through EU airports, and goes to more countries such as Singapore, unlike Nigerian passport.
Until Nigerians removed the mindset that it must be a white manś country, they will miss other good places which are easily accessible and doesnt cost much. Of course target the west, its way better, but if you cant achieve that, neighbouring countries are good. Indeed. |

pansophist: The price of arrogance is that you see past your shortcomings while others you look down upon grow even better. As someone that have been to Benin republic, I completely agree with the poster.
Only that for Nigerians, abroad have to be when they live with white people. Of course you should move to the West, but if that's not attainable, then neighbouring countries ain't bad either.
Ivory Coast is also a good one and even better than Benin.
If your idea of a good life is good roads, security, safety, sane citizen and be contented with the basics of life, to run your business in peace, and can achieve Self-actualisation with hard work, then lots of countries within Africa offers that. You are very correct. I first visited Cote d'Ivoire in 1987, and Abidjan looked very organised like a European city with wide boulevards. Yoruba business men and women were, and are still one of the most dominant there especially from among the indigenous Yorubas of Nigeria, Benin and Togo who are into cocoa business or wholesale and retail trading for more than 100 years now. I stopped underrating other African countries from then on. |

Gatess: THE UNDERRATED COTONOU
Since I was born till date, we Nigerians have always looked down on a lot of neighboring countries like Cameroon, Togo, Benin Republic etc.
Well, you are not to be blamed if you are among those who look down on some of these countries, even when we have not had an opportunity to cross border.
Well I was one of those people who actually looked down on most of these countries until I had an opportunity to sail round west Africa and the narratives changed.
Meanwhile I was completely marvelled the first time I visited Cotonou, the business hub of Benin Republic about 4 years ago when Patrice Talon newly took office Two years after I re-visited, after touring round other west African countries. I spent 3 days here and without a waste of time, I concluded to relocate down to this place based on the level of development I saw, the security, serenity etc.
Finally I am now living here and I have no regret so far.
I will say this country is blessed with the best president who is working tirelessly to improve the living conditions of his beloved citizens and I am glad hearing citizens saying positive things about the president.

Ehismarkninetee: Whatever you are going through in Nigeria, that makes you want to japa, please do not consider coming to Ghana. This place is 2x worse than Nigeria. First their economy is trash resulting to the hike in price of items and services. Imagine you are buying one can Fanta for 250 Naira in Nigeria. You are going to pay 700(10ghc Lana cedis) for that can Fanta. This is just an example. Just know that whatever you are buying the price is times 3 here. The only advantage is that they have constant electricity. Which is not very expensive. I can use 20 Ghana cedis(2k naira) light for one month. So if you have the thought of coming to Ghana. Please change your mind. Ghana is too rough at the moment especially for those who does not have a fix source of income. Also know this, there is no jobs for foreigners |

Oh please! Allow people prosper and flourish where they feel. You are in no position to discourage them. A million and one Nigerians are making progress and very happy there in Ghana - it's your problem if you are unsuccessful and not progressing over there. Allow others try. Simple as that! I do not look at people's review of countries as we all have different experiences. Some people I know personally never could afford three square meals until they went to same Ghana and discovered their potentials. All doing well
Others who went there and didn't have the wisdom to discover how to make money decently having seen certain opportunities end up whining and crying on nairaland.
Allow people and face your problems yourself.
Additionally it is very insensitive of you comparing the currency. Fanta in Ghana is 10cedis, not 700 naira. Fanta in Nigeria is 150naira, not 10cedis. When you learn to apply this principle of sticking to your currency and never compare except when you want to exchange, half of your whining and lamenting will be taken care of.

OP. My fiancee returned back to Ghana 3days ago, and she paid literally #15k for entire trip.
It's nicked backyard runs.
You'll got to Mile 2, you'll get those vehicles going to seme. There are Yoruba women who go to seme to buy rice, talk with one of them to help you cross the border. From mile two to seme is around 2k or 3 at most.
Cross the broder on bike with 1k, you'll settle immigration with 1k too.
You needn't behave like a novice oh.
Once you're at the other end . You will pick a vehicle going to lakonji... It's around 3k.
On arrival, you'll pick a 6k ride from there to Togo border. At the Togo border, settle immigration with 10¢ and bike man with ¢20 to cross you.
Or better still, I can give you a natives phone number who will help you cross for ¢20.
Once in Ghana, ¢50 will take you to Accra. |

But if you want to enter legitimately, you need required documents (passport, COVID-19, yellow card) but there are ways around this if you can pay your way through.
Ghana has alot of tourist sites and they're stretchy from each other. Places to visit are listed below .
Accra (James town, Labadi Beach, mokola market, art museum)
Cape Coast (cape coast castle, kakum national park, elmina castle, etc)
Eastern region (shia hills, akosombo dam, Ada beach side)
Northern region (this are good for safari)
All over Ghana depending on your budget, there are alot to enjoy. |

Ehismarkninetee: Anybody that says Ghana is better than Nigeria, is a big liar. Let me tell you the honest truth, Ghana is only better than Nigeria in aspect of electricity and security. But wait, isn’t that the key parameters to measure if a country is doing good?
I came to Ghana in 2021, I can’t say it’s the worst decision of my life. But I have had my own fair share of the popular saying “This is Accra, Cry your Cry” omo, it has been hard, but I cannot say that there hasn’t been days that were extremely good.
I came into this country using an iPhone 7, now I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max, it was in this country I met davido one on one. This time last year I was a millionaire here in Ghana. So u see, I cannot say Ghana has been bad to me.
Fast forward to today, I am penniless. At the verge of being thrown to the street. House rent is due in few weeks time. No money for bank account, I don’t even know where the money will come from. I have contemplated returning back to Nigeria, but am I going to borrow the money to do so? Even if I return back to Nigeria now, will I return back to my father’s house? These are the questions.
Well, for now. I think I have to keep being positive and remain on my grind, hoping for God to make a way for me. That’s my only hope. |

1) Women prefer sleeping with someone they have slept with before, that way there’s no increase in body count.
2) Women knows every guy wants the same thing, so instead of meeting someone new, going through the rollercoaster of loving and getting heartbroken, they rather go back to a known person.
At the end of the day it’s a win-win situation, you get excited you got to hit again (Okafor law), she’s glad her body count is still single digit (Ngozi law). |

Have you ever wondered why married men and women still cannot resist that one guy they dated far back in the uni??
Ladies and GentleBabes, i bring you... Okafor's Law of Congodynamics C 1 P = C ∞
It states that once a Congo has been shined once (C 1 ) , it can always be shined (C ∞ ) provided it was shined properly ( P) the previous times.(emphasis on properly). In other words, "....a woman once knacked, can be reknacked..." Just like we say "water finds its level" Which is not exactly how Achimedes narrated his contemplation, of all things floatation.
In scientific circles, opinion is divided as to whether it is actually a law or just a hypothesis. There is a large body of evidence to suggest that it is a law but there are others who think it is merely a hypothesis and does not take into account other variables such as M (marital status), O(opportunity) and F (Financial status) of either one or both of the parties.
In lay-mans term what the above jargons simply mean is dat. A hole once drilled, drilled properly even when closed up can always be found and can be drilled forever' if u have been involved with a girl for a period of time and did a good job in and out of the bedroom (mostly in..), the belief is that u can always go to the girl at any given time and sleep with her again no matter what situation arises (breakups, different lover, etc..)

Romance › Re: Have You Ever Met A Girl You Know In A Brothel? by XAUBulls: 3:29am On Feb 28, 2023 |
Vulcanheph: I know this topic won't make front page so let me make my own contribution...
I once visited my home town and followed my cousins to drink and hang out unknown to me the "bar" we went to was also an "ashi" joint... At first I wasn't interested in the girls and concentrated on my drinks while my cousins went in the rooms but I later saw a pretty chick that caught my fancy and after enough coersion from my friends i followed her to her room and banged her well.
About two months later the hotel where I worked employed some new staffs and to my surprise one of the kitchen attendants was the same girl I banged, she didn't remember me until I told her everything privately, she pleaded with me not to tell anyone which I did.... She told me she didn't really like that life anymore and wanted to do something different with her life... We got really close and I even had tasted the kitten a few times before I stopped working there.
I later heard she had stopped working in the kitchen and had gone to her village to open a saloon. |

rentAcock: Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.
Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span. Lol. |

eazzzy1: Are you a Nigerian? do you have friends and family in diaspora or home who are doing well for themselves but will ignore your request to send money all the time? before you call them stingy or wicked, here are some of the reasons why rich friends do not give out money;
1. They don't have enough: Enough is subjective, someone can earn as much as $100,000/annum but feel he's not earning enough, some people have these dreams of being wealthy and that salary isn't sufficient to get them there. So you have a friend/relative who works in a big firm abroad, you think he's rich, he thinks he isn't earning enough. Even millionaires have needs too.
2. You are not the only one making financial demands: You think you are his best friend because you went to secondary school together and were seat mate or bunk mates in the hostel so automatically he should be predisposed to meeting your needs, well there are primary school best friends, university best friends, first love, NYSC best friends, Neighbours, uncles, aunties, brothers etc who think their request should be met too. It is impossible to meet all these needs.
3. Making financial demand is never a one time thing: I had this habit of giving money to people who ask for financial favors the first time. I thought since they never asked for such before, they must really be in need. I soon found out that after that first time they run to me whenever they need money again, sometimes they space out the request like two months, some every month etc. I then realize that the $100, $200 i send them is never going to be sufficient, they will always come back for more. So i joined the God will provide gang.
4. Yahoo boys : Not every fraudster hacks into companies accounts, or forge the accountants signature, or even find lonely older women/men to scam. Some yahoo boys have resorted to begging, they send you message of how their dad is dying in the hospital, how their sister got arrested for a crime she didn't commit and they need a lawyer bla bla, they call these lies format and once you send them money they pop champagne and call you client.
5. General realization : One day i was going through my bank statement and i noticed i gave out about $500 monthly to family and friends. The same me who will walk into H & M, see a shirt of $40 and think it's too costly. I either buy it grudgingly or wait till it's on sale to buy. I realized i wasn't taking care of myself enough. Most people will come to this realization at a point in their lives.
This thread isn't limited to just people abroad, it include people who work and earn who are home based too. How do you cope with demands?Diasporans what made you rethink your generousity?
Feel free to add yours. Bump. |
