There was no peace. Attacked by Agbero at Onitsha. You have to roll up your glass and lock your car once you approach Niger bridge. Yoruba corpers raped severally at Emene. Armed robbery attacks etc. Cursed land.
Gosh!

@deji17, very traumatising... What year were these corpers sexually violated? In 2022 the same thing happened to female corpers in
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of all places, which is an oil-rich area.

Back in the 1990s and 2000s, many people where kidnapped and killed, and females gang raped by armed robbers relentlessly in the SE and Ibos stopped going to the SE for their local version of new yam festival for fear of being kidnaped.
They started doing their yam festival in Lagos or Ogun and many relocated their elder parents who were being kidnapped for ransom to Abuja, PH, Lagos for safety and these where widely reported in the mass media. That period of SE insecurity also saw a desperate rush by some Ibos to buy or lease property and land in Abuja, Lagos, PH, etc. Reason why there was a spike in Ibo population in these areas.

A brilliant Yoruba chartered accountant who had retired from a multinational after many years of work, was invited by a white man and former colleague of his to Imo State to start a new business venture, and he was kidnapped on his way to Owerri and then brutally killed on his first visit in the early 2010s.

Owerri is beautiful place though and I visited the place while living and working in PH back in the 1990s.

"In the public sector, at 40, I have served as SA to the governor of Lagos, I have presented the budget of the state to the assembly. At 40, I have had 5 years of public sector experience. Two of the important parastatals in Lagos were reporting to me. So, it is not just about going to school, what have you done in the different sectors of the economy? ..."

The truth is that most people here, i mean where i stay fully understand the nature of humans.

The bitter truth is that we are all predators always trying to gain more power and influence for ourselves , the problem is that Igbos simply are the worst in hiding this trait and that's why they they always fail because they see your games quickly.

You are supporting LP now in Lagos because you think it will give Igbos upper hand if they win (the guy is more igbo than yoruba, its obvious)..

Why did you think yorubas should do what can give igbo upper hand in yoruba land? , considering what Igbos has done in the past..
Did you think they can be that foolish? Common.

We don't like insults in anyway and thats why yorubas will fight Igbos because you pose as their common enemy now and there is no way you can win..

It’s not an inferior Ibo that will tell a Yoruba man what is called civilization. It’s an insult to our rich history as Yorubas.

To you Igbos, you always get threatened by how the Yorubas see each other as one irrespective of clan and religion. That to you indicates tribalism because you igbos are naturally divisive judging from the fact that you’re from a lineage of people that practice caste system Osu.

I once spoke to one of my Ibo guy and he told me if I see anyone with surname that start or have OSU (e.g Nwosu) within it, then that person is from a caste system and that they have no ancestral lands. What can be more uncivilized than that? Imagine someone from such upbringing calling the superior Yoruba uncivilized!

If not for Nigeria, Ibo people shouldn’t even come into civilization discussion because both your past and recent history has not shown your ancestor built any string civilization or enviable culture.

Tell me the truth, do you not feel jealous of the rich Yoruba culture and the level of brotherhood between them irrespective of clan and religion?

Lastly, with respect to this election, you voted Obi with 90%+ of the votes while Yoruba barely gave Tinubu 65% of our votes and yet you guys think Yoruba are the tribalist. What exactly do you want us to do to please you? We should give Tinubu 0% votes to please your Iyanmili ancestor or what exactly is the problem here?

Prof. Femi Olufunmilade writes :

'Tinubu and his minions like the Elegushis sold the better part of Lekki, Ajah etc to whoever had money. That was how Igbos came to own lots of property there. They paid to the jeunsoke former governor and his front estate companies.

What Tinubu wouldn't share is power. It must be in his hands. But he can sell Lagos to anybody at the right price.

Go to Eko Atlantic City. You must be a millionaire in dollars to own a plot there. Again, the Yoruba who own properties there are mainly in the Tinubu circle. The rest are the Chagourys, the Vaswanis, and the much-loathed Igbo.

If Tinubu is indeed that Yoruba iconic defender of our homeland, why didn't he create low-cost housing estates in half of those areas like Governor Jakande did and sell deliberately to only Yoruba on low-repayment, affordable mortgage through name-check at sales point or by other means?

Oun to wa lehin ofa ju oje!

Tinubu-Sanwoolu's quest to retain power is to you a Yoruba holy war against Igbo takeover! The fact remains the duo and cronies had handedover over time! Add to that the vast tracts of prime coastline etc handedover to their front man - Bros Aliko D - for private port etc!

Let another Yoruba elite group exercise power too in Lagos. 24 years is enough for Tinubu's feudal hold! The LP candidate is Yoruba, notwithstanding the deliberate campaign of Igbonisation. He comes from an illustrious Lagos family whose family tree can be traced four generations back. Any good student of Nigeria's history as it pertains to Lagos will know of the Rhodes-Vivor family alongside the Kitoye Ajasas, the Dosumus, the Macaulays, the Esugbayis, Adeniyi Jones etc.

That a prominent Igbo man is using the Labour Party platform today isn't equivalent to Igbonisatiom of the party. In case you don't know, the founder of the Labour Party and its perpetual custodian is the Nigerian Labour Congress.

The first person to attain power through LP is my illustrious egbon, Dr. Segun Mimiko, who was elected governor on its platform in Ondo state. That Obi is in Labour Party is fortuitous. I had invited him to takeover my structures in the SDP. It could have been the SDP making waves in Lagos and its founding parent is Afenifere.

Tinubu's loss of Lagos to Obi in the presidential election wasn't occasioned by Igbo votes alone. More than half of the votes came from Yoruba people in Lagos fed up with the parasitic and plutocratic gang now making ethnic bigotry the refuge of those beholden to them. If they survive this, I hope they will have time for the suffering commoners.

He does not know that even his own family could actually be Ijebu.
Indeed... Nicely put.

This dude called Gbadebo is garrulous and NOT well-informed about Yoruba history, and is unfit to be a Governor for saying he would cancel the Lekki International Airport, Epe project by Lagos State.

Gbadebo Vivour's enslaved paternal ancestors are definitely from hinterland regions of the current Oyo, Ogun, or Osun States and they only settled on Lagos Island after returning from
Sierra Leone in the 1800s, and the
Vivours are NOT indigenous to Eko (Lagos Island) which is Aworiland.

Even the Aworis of Lagos and Ogun States migrated centuries ago from
Ile-Ife in Osun State, and not too long ago, the Awori Obas of Lagos and Ogun States led by the Olota of Ota visited the Ooni of Ife to reconnect with the Awori ancestral roots in Ile-Ife.

Ijebuland extends from Lagos State to Ogun State, and Ijebus are indigenous to both states. Ijebus also constitute the largest in the Lagos State Civil Service. I know this fact very well.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is Ijebu so is very qualified to be a Governor of Lagos State since 3 LGAs out of 20 LGAs make up Ijebuland in Lagos State.

NOTE: Formerly enslaved Yoruba returnees from Cuba, Brazil, Sierra Leone, Trinidad and U.S.A. also settled in Abeokuta especially those of Egba-Yoruba origins.

The Oyos, Egbas, Ijesas, Ekitis, Ijebus, Ketus and Bantes in Benin Republic, etc, constituted the bulk of
Yorubas who were captured in the hinterlands and deported on slave ships in the late 1700s till the 1800s to Cuba, Brazil, USA, Trinidad, etc.

Sierra Leone also took in thousands of Yorubas and other ethnicities totalling over 100,000 from (they were freed from slave ships by the
British Navy patrols in the Atlantic Ocean water) Kongo, Angola, Krus, Mandingo, Efik, Fante, Nupe, Kanuri, Hausa, etc.

Number 1 is wrong. Yorubas are artisans by nature not traders, Yorubas will trive in an industrialized environment.

They are city dwellers too.

A Yoruba guy will rather stay in his village than relocate to an Igbo or Hausa village. There are alot of Yorubas in Portharcourt and Warri.
Point of correction.

There are major falsehoods in that
OP's post and other posts on this thread.

There were MANY Yorubas and
Edos living and trading in major
Ibo towns like Enugu, Abakaliki,
Aba, etc, but because of the
2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970, Rivers State, Delta State, Calabar, etc, became the NEW headquarters for Yorubas to reside and do business. Asaba and PH enable Yorubas to reside and do trading or purchases from Aba and Onitsha, and return home in Rivers and/or Delta State.

Going to core Iboland to invest long-term is very risky as you can lose all you have invested like what happened on May 30, 1967 when that bearded rebel leader told non-Easterners to leave the Old Eastern Region immediately because he had illegally seceded taking the minority ethnicities without doing a referendum for them. Ibos also do not sell lands because land is limited and it is for family or community use.

NOTE: While there are Yoruba artisans just like in other ethnicities, Yorubas are big-time wholesale and retail traders in Hausaland, the Middle-Belt states of Nigeria, and the entire West African region.

Yorubas are big-time international traders and there is a Mokola market founded by Yorubas for decades now in Accra, Ghana just like Mokola market exists in Ibadan, and many Yoruba traders are in Dubai and in Abidjan, Ivory Coast which I visited in 1987.

Does anyone know Rhodes-Vivour’s family origin in Yorubaland?
1. Nigeria's first pound sterling
millionaire and financier, Candido da Rocha is of direct Ijesha descent in the current State of Osun, and he returned with his parents to Lagos Island in Yorubaland from Bahia, Brazil where he was born in the 1850s to freed parents.

His father and mother were
formerly enslaved in Bahia, Brazil.
Bahia and Cuba have a strong retention of Yoruba culture and religion till today and the Orisas are venerated.

The two Vaughan brothers from South Carolina, USA, are from Egbaland. They returned to
Yorubaland (based on their dying father's instructions) via Liberia then to Lagos Island and Abeokuta.

Then finally settled in Ebute Meta as influential and wealthy
businessmen all in the late 1800s.

Their father who was a Prince was taken as a captive from Nigeria to South Carolina, USA on a slave ship in the early 1800s.

2. The Rhodes-Vivour family could most likely have been Oyo, Egba or Ijesa from Oyo, Ogun, Osun States since the 3 Yoruba sub-ethnicities provided the bulk of deported Yorubas taken on slave schooners to Cuba, Brazil, Venezuela, USA, etc, in the 1800s.

In Cuba and Brazil, the Oyos were the largest from Yorubaland in the 1800s and usually led revolts in Cuba and Brazil because there were many warriors among them.

Now this year, she said she wanted to go clubbing with her colleagues at work and I said no problem. They started calling each others to know which club or where to meet. Eventually when it was around 10pm. Someone called her and told her that the venue was under renovation so she couldn't attend the party.

In February this year, we're at home together that day and She told me she wanted to stroll out. I said no wàhálà and she left, then she called me like after an hour that I did not even look for her, I said why should I, you have your bus pass, your phone is charged and you know how to use the map, so you can't get lost. And we joked about it, and she said she is even at Salford Shopping centre now ( Not the real location). I said OK. Then after like 2 hours she got home and came home with 3 female bags.

BUT, I have paid all my tuition fees (£13,500) upfront before stepping into UK at all. So all I requested from her is to save all her money so that by the end of year, she would have gathered something for herself. She said okay. And after first month, she started ordering Wigs, Human hair, Clothes and bags. I complained how can you be spending money like this that you just entered the country? Just because you saw me buying a single winter jacket for £200 doesn't mean you have to emulate me na. She refused and said, how can I ask her to buy clothe at PRIMARK when am ordering mine from HOODRICH. 😂😁😁😄. So I came in alone to put everything in place, renting apartment and starting my studies. It was really an heculeous task, my eyes see shege as I was unable to pass through verification / affordability check, so I had to offer 6 month upfront before I was later considered. By end of January, she started with she is feeling lonely and can't stay alone in the house, so I started processing her visa February and I went back to Nigeria during Easter to bring her myself, just to avoid unnecessary wàhálà at the POE.
