INVINCIBLE PRESENTS: ATOM EVE

A simple yet interesting origin movie regarding the Atom Eve character, but its a movie that still have the problem of hero characters simply or automatically just being good fighters or combatants the moment they get their powers or discover their hero purpose. Seriously, that's an element the superhero genre needs to do away with, but nevertheless, irrespective of such annoying element in it, one can't overlook the overall interesting nature of the movie.

A mediocre and pitiable movie when compared to its comic counterpart, and this is made worse by the weak and poor portrayal of Mongul.

This is a movie that should have had a run time of 2hrs to 3hrs 30mins in other to effectively flesh out its story, but no, we had a less than 90mins jumbled mess.

Seriously, with the way DC Animation poorly adapted the Injustice and Warworld sagas, I fear for the adaptation of The Crisis On Infinite Earth saga next year. I won't be surprised if it turns out wack. Truth is, if its runtime is less than 2hrs, there's a 90% probability of it being a mess.

Your joker and Lex Luthor comparison doesn't make sense.

Barbie has the same appeal to women that Mario has to mostly guys. Plus, Barbie is still a popular toy amongst kids these days. Can't say the same for Mario as a video game.

Another reason is the aggressive marketing. Mario didn't do half of what Barbie is doing. Also, it's a summer movie. Most kids, teens and their parents going to the cinema in the holidays will have Barbie as their priority watch. Haven't even factored in adults that have been influenced my the movie marketing.

I don't understand how you all don't see it. Let time tell.

Aggressive marketing does not usually equate to box office numbers. There are films that were aggressively marketed but they turned out badly at the box office.

The question is, will the female audience come through for the movie? What are the odds? The possibility that male audience will turn up to support their brand is higher than women doing same for their brand.

See, I want Barbie to succeed because;
* It's a business, and I can't be against the success of someone's business. Money was spent for its production, marketing and distribution. It's right WB makes back their money.
** Barbie is a multi billion dollar brand with film potentials, and as such, it deserves to be a successful film brand also.
*** Females needs to get one of their favorite brands being successful on the big screen also.

But despite this, I still have to be concern about Barbie's female fanbase turning up for the movie. I sincerely hope they do.

My projection for the movie is $300M to $800M. Truth is, I see it doing the Little Mermaid numbers. But the truth of the matter is, going with its $100M budget, Barbie will definitely break even and be profitable. All it needs to gross to attain that is $300M going with the standard 3x multiplier.

As I said, I earnestly hope, your predictions come true.

Of course it does, just like Barbie and Mario that have their fanbase, Joker and Lex Luthor are both significant DC villain characters, and they both have their fanbase. So how doesn't it make sense?

If Ezar Miller scandal is part of the social media presence you're talking about then I don't think it was for the success of the movie. The Flash had an average marketing to be honest, not even half of what Barbie is doing.

My projection for Barbie is in comparisim with how Mario turned out to be honest. If Mario can make that profit, Barbie definitely can.

Mario making a billion doesn't mean Barbie will smell that numbers. It's like saying because Joker made a billion, then a Lex Luthor movie will make a billion. That's weak analogy.

But I hope things goes your way though.

The only thing giving me hope they might see some serious bucks in the secondary market is this leak numbers.
If they get $150-200mn in DVD sales they might be able to curb the losses down to tens of millions in losses, instead of hundreds. Who knows, maybe break even. 🙃

I saw this leak news earlier this week. But the views is massive though, this shows people are willing to watch, but not just in cinema. It has a high chance of performing in PVOD and Home Video.

I'm expecting it to pass the 1billion mark to be honest.

The appeal it has on social media platform is strong. I won't be surprised if it becomes the highest grossed movie this year, surpassing super Mario.

Social media hype does not always translate to box office success. The Flash also had the enormous social media presence but hey, how are things turning out.

Let's just hope Barbie's social media strong presence translate to good box office numbers.

Truth is, the state of the box office this year is unstable and discouraging.

Lastly, ther possibility of Barbie grossing one billion is less than 1% considering the volatile nature of the box office this year, and also the girlish theme of the movie which won't resonate with some movie audience like me. But let's see if your prediction turns out right, let's hope it's strong social media presence turns out for it.

I like this your idea. For me, the ideology of a human being with genius mind rivalling Superman (when Superman too is a genius) is becoming tiring to me.
Lex should just be behind the scene and running things until he probable invents technologies that can make him go toe-to-toe with the man of steel before he surfaces.

Yeah, Lex should be established as a Superman villain in the DCU, but he shouldn't be the villain of the first two Superman films, but the third. With this, they tune down on his over usage while also making him the peak Superman villain, that is, the villain of the climax to a Superman trilogy. The first two films prepare the grounds for his eventual confrontation with Superman.
