First, we would pay up for the MI-35m's purchased. JF-17 is a possibility. Tucanos can actually wait for now.

In fact 1 billion is not a lot of money at all. I don't know what it can actually get for the military.
Super Tucano that we have paid for since February 2018.
We have also, most probably, made part payment for the JF-17 as quoted in our previous budget.
On the $1bn, I say we get some Armoured Tanks, MRAPs, IFVs, MBRL, Attack Helicopters.

And most importantly, we should upgrade to electronic warfare, it is only a matter of time before someone gift drones capable of dropping mortar bombs on our troops to ISWAP. I admired the way Russians responded to the swarm of drones attack on its base in Syria.

S.KOREA DEPLOYS ANTI-PIRACY WARSHIP AFTER HIJACK OF FISHING BOAT OFF GHANA

EOUL - South Korea has deployed a naval vessel from its regional anti-piracy effort to help in the search after a fishing boat was hijacked by pirates off Ghana, South Korea's foreign ministry said on Saturday.

The ministry said the fishing boat had about 40 crew - mostly from Ghana but including three South Koreans. It said the pirates used a speedboat to take away the South Koreans.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in sent South Korea's anti-piracy Cheonghae unit to the area to try to secure the South Koreans' release, the ministry said.

The South Korean government has been working to tackle piracy with a number of African countries, as well as the United States and the European Union. link http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/SKorea-deploys-anti-piracy-warship-after-hijack-of-fishing-boat-off-Ghana-547565
Karma has caught up with them. Most of them have been illegally plundering fishes in West African waterways.

So, the French sold the crappy Super Frelon to China and it was cloned to produce the Z-8. Sikorsky didn't learn the lesson and sold them the BlackHawk. And as true as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, the BlackHawk has been cloned as the Z-20.

So the PLA will soon replace the clone of the crappy Frelon with the clone of the BlackHawk! grin grin grin

EDIT: Let's not forget the Israelis in passing on much Western tech to China to clone"reproduce".
The Chinese never fails to disappoint. But cloning is not just an exclusive preserve of the Chinese.
Even the Israelis clone other nation's technologies like no body's business. Just that they do it covertly.

Reminds me guys I know long ago had placed bugs inside the hotel room where the U/K premier was supposed to stay and the hotel attendants including service staff was our fellows.

As SOP U/K guys did a sweep of the rooms , they did not find anything. Later the too friendly behaviour of the waiter who most of the time was too reluctant to leave the room after he was called for room service tipped them off that something was amiss.
They again did a sweep and they found the bug but could not do anything about it , since it was buried deep inside the concrete pillar grin

So they transferred the premier to another suite. Which was again bugged grin
And again which was found out grin
grin grin
Honestly, the intelligence community will be very disappointed if the Chinese don't have at least three solid bugs in each rooms of that building. I am sure the maintenance and refitting of furniture in that AU building is done by the Chinese, which gives them unfettered access to make sure the bugs are in good working condition.

Haba, and someone is saying we should believe they didn't bug it just because they said so.
Do we expect them to be like, "we have thoroughly bug your building that we spent so much money on constructing, now go do your meetings so we can listen. Remember, English please and no funny accent!"

Maybe I have been reading too many conspiracy theory books, but I believe that AU building constructed by Chinese is bugged.
And if they construct ECOWAS building too, it has to be bugged.
Heck, why shouldn't they bug them?

The only way that they can truly figure it out that the building has been bugged is to totally tear it down. The doors, fans, ACs, chairs, paintings, tables and whatnots could be powerful listening devices with battery that can last for years.

This just means the Government made some kind of deal with Boko Haram and Bokoharam probably told the Government that they'd drop of the girls at 3am, then some crazy slowpoke in Government decided to jump the Gun and tell the press that the Girls have been released, which basically screwed up the whole plan because now everyone wants to know how the Government knew that they were suppose to be released at 3am.
As expected, they have been denying all over the media that no deal took place but one must be super duper gullible to believe that.

The bottom line is the girls are safely back with their parents. Although, one Christian girl wasn't released because of her faith.

Why would Nigerian government negotiate such a terrible deal that would leave an innocent girl behind just because of her religion? Food for thought.

Who should we believe? The notorious Lie Mohammed or the people of Dapchi?

The people of Dapchi, backed by pictorial evidences claimed the terrorists dropped the kidnapped girls 0700 hour but Lia Muhammed, thousands of miles away, claimed it was 0300hour.

See as ecstatic youth cheered terrorists, smh. Probably, almajiri.

With the kind of reception youths gave Boko Haram terrorists in Dapchi, I can assure you BHT is going back there for recruitment.

Because, I can't reconcile how you would give gun toting monsters, that came to kidnap your daughters few weeks ago, heroic welcome. Who does that?

A legend somewhere in NE Nigeria. And an article he wrote for the Harvard International Review a year ago.

http://hir.harvard.edu/article/?a=14477
It is glaring that the mercenary hired during Jonathan's administration recorded tremendous achievement in the war against BHTs, especially in Bama.
However, parts of the reasons they succeeded was mainly because Boko Haram terrorists had a clearly defined territory. It was much easier to identify targets from the sky and strike appropriately and it is better to always be on the offensive. The case of Sambisa forest is different and the indiscriminate use of IEDs by the terrorist is seemingly tilting the war in their favor.
If Nigerian Army can procure high end fighting equipment, fine tune our fighting doctrine to reflect current realities in NE Nigeria, the war will be in our favor.
They should start by phasing out the use of
soft skinned vehicles that don't stand a chance against IEDs. It saddens me seeing our soldiers using such vehicles.
