The U-23 Eagles will only need a draw of any kind in their final group game against Algeria to qualify for the semi-finals of the on-going CAF U-23 Nations Cup if Egypt expectedly beat Mali in their final group game, according to CAF rules governing qualification in case all three teams tie on points.

Article 68.2.3 of the competition makes the number of goals scored the deciding factor if the teams have the same goals difference.
"The greatest number of goals scored in the matches between the teams concerned will be used to decide the qualifiers," reads the article.

A win for Egypt will take them to five points, same as Nigeria and Algeria if their game ends in a draw.

If this scenario presents itself after the conclusion of the group games on Saturday, Nigeria will pick a semi-final ticket.
Algeria's chances of joining Nigeria will depend on the nature of the draw. If the game between Nigeria and Algeria ends from 3-3 upwards, then Algeria will

come second behind Nigeria but if the scoreline is 0-0 or 1-1, Algeria will be eliminated.

If the game ends in a 1-1 draw, then it presents another scenario as to who tops the group between Nigeria and Egypt as both will have the same number of
goals scored and same number of goals conceded.

Nigeria football fans will be on the edge of their seats on Saturday, December 5, as they watch the Dream team struggle to qualify from their final Group B match against Algeria in the on-going U23 African Cup of Nation in Senegal.


The way Samson Siasia tutored boys gas-out of breath at the middle of their last two matches that saw the team narrowly edged out Mali, but again threw away 3 – 0 lead against Egypt that would have secured them the Semi-final ticket; cause most fans to worry.


What Algeria might do is to soak in the Dream team pressure for the first 30 minutes or so, then come out in full force, after the Nigerian side might have gas-out again.


Siasia must find a different way of approaching this final Group game to ensure Nigeria at least gets a draw to move on.


Algeria drew against Egypt 1 – 1 and beat Mali 2 – 0. So both Nigeria and Algeria only need a draw to qualify for the Semi Finals.


But one thing is certain; Egypt will come out smoking against Mali to ensure they win that one to stand a chance to qualify. Mali has been knocked out already, but may only be playing for pride against Egypt.


Remember, the first three teams in the tournament will automatically qualify for Rio Olympics games Men Soccer in 2016. There’s no negotiations, Nigeria must be there or…?

You don't think money for rail has been pocketed under the very nose of GEJ like any other funds under him? 2. Another rail project that will be up for renegotiation is the $8.3bn Lagos-Kano standard gauge modernization project, of which only a segment, Kaduna-Abuja has reached completion stage.

3. President Buhari is also expected to discuss ways of removing all obstacles in the way of the 3,050 MW Mambila Power Station, considered a strategic project which was conceived in 1982 but has not taken off. The Chinese President had informed President Buhari of thewillingness of his country to finance the whole project.

I know the wailers will still wail in the face of these realities. To wail is in their blood.

If you check the agenda, listen to their campaign, it wasn’t about issues, it was about personality. Change this man! He has now seen the reality of how deep the issues are and it has now dawned on him that the man sitting there was actually managing to survive. That is one thing about leadership.
