yungmin:Martin aka bebrief (an irony cos the dude was never brief in speeches) was our president ![]() Bebrief was an active member of the naijahotjobs NNPC thread. He was one of those who followed through until we received APL. He was loved on the thread for his maturity and tenacity. The day we were asked to elect a president, 3 or 4 people were nominated. He introduced himself as bebrief and everyone in the auditorium was shouting bebrief! bebrief! bebrief! ![]() The election took place and he won convincingly. That was how he became the president. A lady was the vice (can't remember her name). Xfire |
Jaolad:Good question. Accommodation and food will be provided. Food is actually really nice. In 2012, they utilized Edjeba in Warri (that was the centre Shell used for SITP in the past). It's a really nice and quiet environment. You are expected to pass, but no one was sent back home in 2012 after the training. Ideally, it should be possible to send you packing but realistically, I doubt they will ever do so, at least not on the basis of performance. Have a lovely day, ladies and gentlemen. Xfire |
CircleOfWilis:Yes, they pay accommodation and travel allowances. The further you stay from Abuja, the more the pay. They paid towards the end of the orientation program. Xfire |
divads:Lol.. Geoscientists were part of the training oo. Maybe I need to clarify a bit more: ONLY graduates of engineering, physical sciences (e.g. maths, physics, chemistry, etc) and geology underwent the training. Graduates of biological sciences and non-science related courses were not part of the training. |
souljar:Yes, it is different. Training allowance is per day, separate from the normal salary. The training allowance was accumulated and paid after the 9 months training programme. Xfire |
number5:Lol.. Okay let's qualify it as STEM graduates with the exception of natural sciences underwent the 9 months training programme. |
pflourish:Posting is based on discipline and vacancy slots. It has nothing to do with individual score. Interview is meant to determine those who will join the corporation. That is where it ends. I'm not sure there is any organization that determines posting based on interview scores. So I will advise not to build unnecessary tension inspired by anxiety and which can lead to delusion. Like Jarus said, go to naijahotjobs (which was the hottest job site back then in 2012), and you will see people still hoping for 2nd NNPC list seven years after! In 2012, all the successful underwent a 2 (or was it 3?) weeks orientation program in the Abuja headquarters. During that period, medical examination and security screening were performed. Also, we registered our banks. After the orientation, the non-STEM GTs and experienced hires were posted immediately to different subsidiaries. And it's all dependent on your discipline. For instance, all the microbiology / biochemistry graduate that I met during orientation were posted to refineries as safety officers. A friend who studied quantity surveying was posted to IDSL, while a number of accountants were posted across several subsidiaries (accountants are needed everywhere) Experienced hires were posted based on their discipline and the role they applied for. Many experienced geologists were posted to IDSL and NETCO. The STEM graduates had to undergo 9 months intensive training called FSTP (cant remember the full meaning but TP means training program). I was told that the overall best graduates per discipline were sent abroad for further studies. But the rest were posted based purely on their discipline and had nothing to do with their training score. Most chemical engineers ended up in the refineries; most petroleum engineers ended up in NPDC, and so on and so forth. A few who had solid network influenced their posting (typical everywhere even in private firms). Married ladies had the opportunity to choose the state of preference. For instance, a friend whose family was based in PH chose PH. She was posted to PH refinery. This was all in 2012. Things might be different now. Xfire |
pflourish:Lol. Where do people get these info from? Don't let anxiety get the better of you. That's not a reasonable statement and it is very false. Xfire |
joobseekar:Thanks sibabe25 for the clarification. Y'all need to chill ![]() Sometimes, anxiety makes us think too far. Take a chill pill. There is no absolutely no correlation between receiving TFare and APL. Ideally, everyone is supposed to receive tfare refund. There may be delay here and there when dealing with a large number of interviewees but it has nothing to do with APL. You guys are even lucky to get your tfare refund on time. I cant remember exactly when we got ours but it was after several months. This recruitment process seems to be much faster. I recently searched my inbox for the interview letter. I realized that I did my interview in July 2011, only to end up resuming August the following year. I think I got APL in June/July 2012. Hopefully this will be way faster. Good luck to you all. Xfire |
joobseekar:Help my ignorance. What is APL? Xfire |
joobseekar:I am here. |
MarieAnn2012:Many generally tend to misuse the reference section of a CV. Ideally, a referee is someone who can vouch for some of the achievements, work experiences or skills you have listed on your CV. Examples include former lecturer, project supervisor, former/ present boss /manager, business partner or client, senior colleague, etc. However, what most candidates do is to include uncles, family friends, top politicians, etc. In many cases, they have had no work/academic relationship with the referees but they add because he/she is highly placed, hoping that could influence the decision of the interviewers. If the NNPC employee can vouch for some of the things you have on your CV, by all means include him/her. For an entry level position, including referee is optional. You can as well put 'available upon request'. Xfire |
Jarus:I do not want to discuss in detail about pay. But the fact remains that if a candidate is to choose between an IOC and NNPC, and his/her only consideration is total pay package (monthly + NNPC upfront inclusive), IOCs are your best bet. An average IOC pays much more in every ramification. Like I said earlier, many NNPC staff still apply for IOC jobs. IOCs also generally offer staff more practical on-the-job experience. However, if you are considering job security (that is if NNPC is not sold anytime soon by govt) and work life balance, go for NNPC. This doesn't mean that IOC staffs do not have healthy work life balance. Just that you can never beat government job in Nigeria when it comes to work life balance. Xfire |
4kimportX:Lol... I remember in 2012 during my NNPC interview, I saw many Northerners that wore native to the venue. I don't know if any of them eventually got the job (I assume some did). I have undergone interviews with other multinational corporations and I have never seen anyone wearing native. But then, this is our 'own' NNPC so maybe cultural attires are allowed. Sincerely, I don't know the answer to the question. But personally, I would rather be on the safe side by wearing corporate outfit. Xfire |
mos4phy:Lol. It's just one interview. Offer letter afterwards. I don't know about you but people like me wey no sabi book, the less the number of recruitment exams and interviews, the better. Xfire |
Vivicathy:No. Has nothing to do with where you will be posted. Everyone has equal chances of suicide. You will jut not be paid accommodation allowance (per diem) during the orientation period. That's not really important now though. |
adakoleagbenu:IDSL or NPDC |
mosgoon:Sorry if you find my response on pay to be vague. I'm not too certain that it's proper to be reeling out specific figures in a public forum. Maybe someone else can. I wish you the best. Xfire |
ORACULUM:A supervisor in NNPC is not a managerial role. Management staff starts from deputy manager job. It depends on your job role. Supervisors are equivalent to mid level career staff (not entry level). It will still take you a number of years to climb to management cadre. Xfire |
mosgoon:Lol At entry level, the IOCs generally pay much more than NNPC. A lot of NNPC staff will move to IOCs if given the slightest chance. The same can not be said at management level (NNPC package for management staff is crazy), just that it takes about 18 years to climb from entry-level to management staff, that's if you are lucky to scale through to management level. Xfire |
daviscoal:Here is what I can say on a public forum: 1. It was a panel interview. Can't remember the exact number that interviewed me but they weren't less than 4. 2. The questions are mainly personality based questions, in many cases focusing on your CV. 3. Be well dressed and read about NNPC. Your dressing and knowledge about NNPC will be tested and graded. 4. On the pay, I'm not sure it is right to reveal nnpc pay package on a public forum. But all I can say is that don't be deceived by what you see on the offer letter. They only include basic salary on the employment letter. Overall, the pay package for non-management staff is fairly good but certainly not the best in the world. For management staffs, the pay package is maaaad. 5. They did refund the TP (for all candidates) but it was after several months. For those that used Abuja address in their application or CV, you will receive little or no TP refund. Believe me, you will almost regret using Abuja address if you are successful and they call for new hire orientation. *lips sealed* Xfire |
daviscoal:Gimme an hour or two. I will respond, including questions on pay Xfire |
Jarus:Exactly. Most people in NNPC get in without knowing anybody. I was recruited during the last campaign back in 2012 without knowing anyone. I have many friends and coursemates as well who got in that year without knowing anyone. (I have since left so really don't have any 'insider' news) Prepare well for the interview and pray for a bit of luck. I remember seeing my interview score, and how it was graded. The interview usually appears easy and most people leave the interview panel feeling good but not everyone will eventually make it. So be prepared. Over 500 was recruited during the 2012 recruitment. Hopefully, more will be recruited this year. Every state will be represented. Xfire |
Fancyteemah:Impressive. I do not have an office job for you, but I could use your skills for a freelance job. What's your experience like? What have you worked on? |
Thank you all for your participation. All the top 30 participants have been rewarded. See you all next year. Xfire cc Richiez Odunharry dejt4u |
OdefaGirl: do you mean all graduates or those pursuing postgraduate degrees? I am also a graduate o. Even though I graduated long time ago, graduate na graduate. If you find such scheme for all graduates, I will apply too ![]() |
Payment has started. Bear with me as it may take me a bit of time to get across to everyone. |
Ifelove1:Today, I am greatly impressed by integrity Ifelove1 has shown. This is an indication that winners of the scholarship have high level of integrity and honesty. Due to network error, I credited him twice. He alerted me and refunded the extra pay back to me. People of honour like this brilliant student Ifelove1 should be honoured and celebrated. God bless Xfire |
Beowulf:Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and offer to support. The next edition will be next year January. I will PM to discuss. Xfire |
totalhouse:That would be great. Do you mean N1,000 each for the 20th to 30th best winners? I will send you a PM for clarity. |
totalhouse:It was a typo error. He actually had 63.3% not 68.3% in the first stage test. Not easy typing 60 different scores for all 30 candidates. That doesn't stop you from blessing the dude with extra cash though. ![]() Xfire |
All winners I have seen all your PMs. Please bear with me as it might take me a bit of time to respond and act on all 30 PMs. I will respond to your PMs and payments will start tomorrow....ooops today...it's past 12am already. Xfire |
