Bro, I was never keen at this NNPC thing. Even by my earning at the time I applied, it would still be a pay cut for me.

And now, the gap between what I applied for and my current position has become even wider. So I’m never gonna take the offer if it comes, except God forbid, I lose my job.

That’s what I meant.

On a 2nd thought, did you apply for deputy manager role or a lower position?

If you did apply for a deputy managerial role, did you consider the prospect of climbing up managerial laddera by becoming a manager, GM, etc NNPC managers (including GMs and GGMs) earn a crazy amount of money very few in the industry can dream about, with very mouthwatering pension package. That would mean you must be currently earning very well in a desirable position to decline a deputy managerial role in NNPC.

If you applied for a lower position, then I think you took the right decision to back out.

A lot of new GTs have been sending emails asking me various questions or wanting to get my contact. I can't keep up with the mails.

First of all, I do not know when you will get your APL. You should be rest assured you will get your APL. And even if you dont before resumption date, you should still report to NNPC quarters. I am just an ex NNPC employee.

If you still want my contact, please send your telegram number only. I will contact only via telegram.

Dude i will say u should go with dangote. The pay should increase with time and its your discipline area and you can always get a better job. If you go with exxon you might need to them do a masters in maybe supply chain mgt.
Dangote pay is nothing to write home about. Staff welfare is also very poor except for foreign expatriates who are very well paid. The staff also don't get pay increment the way you presume. To make matters worse, it is 5-year bond for a mere 180k per month? That's steep mehn.

On the other hand, I am not sure the pay for a graduate contract staff in the IOC is up to the amount he/she mentioned. In addition, a contract job is what is is, contract (no job security). Yet, he is only hoping on some form of informal assurance.

This is really between the devil and the deep blue sea. Personally, I will reject Dangote offer if I were in his shoes because of the bond involved and maybe the poor welfare. I will focus on getting scholarships to further my education as a first class graduate while continuing to apply for jobs.

What does the bond entail?

Oh okay. A number of people actually declined NNPC offer back then for various reasons. You definitely know one or two of them.

It's usually a difficult situation for a few at the moment. May God bless us all so that we can be spoilt for choice.

By now, most successful candidates would have realized that you don't need to know anyone to join NNPC.

I don't know of other government agency but I am sure NNPC recruitment is largely merit driven.

Congratulations once again to everyone, whether you got APL or not.

Jarus, we will await a celebration party from you once you get your APL. We full ground.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to all fresh hires that have received APL and to those who will receive APL. Congratulations on your success. Wishing you a very successful career in NNPC.

NNPC is a great organisation to build a career. Work life balance and job security are largely guaranteed. I advise that you maximize whatever opportunity lies ahead and focus less on the bottlenecks in the organization. Instead, add value and be an agent of positive change in the organization. I wish you the very best.

To those who will not get APL, I say congrats anyway. Greater opportunities lie ahead. Though it might be painful, don't be discouraged. See this as a stepping stone to a beautiful life and career.

You are all successful.

To the EH who are still expectant, I wish you all good luck. We will read your testimonies soon.

Graduate Training is actually 9 months at Ejeba Warri according to xfire. But salary increment may be after 3years. I guess that's what he meant

There is no guarantee that NNPC is going to follow exactly the same orientation and training program that was conducted in 2012 Circumstances differ. Every recruitment into an organisation is unique. I was told the onboarding process in the 2012 program was quite different from the one before it. I will expect a few variations.

As an example, OND and HND holders were recruited alongside university graduates in 2012. There was no opening for superintendents and managers. It's a different ball game this time around.

You can only infer from what happened in 2012.

And yes, the training for graduate engineers and physical scientists was for 9 months or thereabout in Edjeba.

Chief pls want to ask this question about medicals in NNPC ,Because military recruitment screen some people out after medical .What will make a person to fail medicals regards to NNPC issue ?
I wouldn't know..I am not a medical doctor. I do not know if anyone was screened out during the last orientation but I am not aware of any. I sincerely doubt if anyone was screened out. They surely can't screen out people on they have HIV or SS genotype. That will be discriminatory.

You would expect a screening exercise by the military to be much more stringent for obvious reasons.

Please a quick question, in the last recruitment was success notification sent out or was it just people receiving calls from DHL and co to come pick up their package from NNPC?

There was no email. My mum called while I was at work (far away from home) that she received my offer letter at the post office.

I don't know if emails will be sent this time around but remember NNPC is still far behind far behind when it comes to the use of email for routine office communications.

Goodbye Guys. It was a nice Journey here. To the people I annoyed in the past, accept my sincere apologies.
To those expectant of an offer from NNPC. Be prayerful as anecdotally, you can see it's past the issue of deductions and confidence and rather an issue of grace and mercy.
Also remember all these things are vanity and pale compared to the Ultimate Goal of ascending to the glory of Christ. So straighten up relative to that ultimate goal.

Thanks majorly to guys like Jarus and xfire who helped narrow down critical decisions and other users here with whom I had fruitful discussions with. God bless.

Congrats bro. I think you took a wise decision, if it is based on the discussions we had earlier.

For those that where working..Please any idea if NNPC would request for a copy of your resignation letter from your previous employer at the point of registration? CC Jarus, Xfire

A lot of questions here are driven by anxiety and panic. I am not aware of any employer does this and it's not even something to worry about. I remember a few folks who resigned their jobs after joining NNPC.

Jarus is spot on. It is applicable everywhere. You are expected to refund balance of grants, loans and advance payment as they are usually time based. It's the norm everywhere in corporate Nigeria.

Nah...the document does not specify salaries please. It just specifies general benefits and entitlement per grade level.

I never planned to share the document. Besides, it is difficult to share it even if I wanted to cos it's hardcopy manual with over 200 pages.

Lolz.. Ghost rider, i sight you

Like peter already said, majority of these questions has been answerd by sir jarus, xfire, macgyver and other people... I will quote below some of xfire's response to some of the aforementioned issues.

As for your last question.... I think any serious villa-ge ppl should already know what U're up to.. Dem don d track ur destiny since bfor u land this duniya... If dey dont know... Means dem like u wella, or NNPC is not meant for u so wen dem look u inside calabash, dem no see NNPC for ur future..... grin

Na joke ooh

Thanks for sharing that again..

Was searching through some of my documents today and stumbled upon the NNPC Corporate Policy and Procedure Guide that was given to us during orientation.

It is a very detailed manual that talks about everything associated with NNPC including benefits/ entitlements, training, conditions for leave of absence, working hours, recruitment process ( shortlisting, interview types and panel composition for different grade levels, criteria for success, etc), specific kinds of jobs for each grade level, loans, long service award, secondment to IOCs...name it.

Quite interesting..

No doubt about that.

Accounting is the technical field for an accounting firm, for example. Law and accounting are the technical fields for an FIRS (tax authority) while a mechanical engineer will be the support (eg as Head of Maintenance Division) in such organization. Economics will be technical field in an economic or policy research company, while the IT guy will be the support. IT will be the technical field in an Accenture, while the accountant or lawyer is a support. Law is the technical field in a law firm.

That said, in general usage, technical field in most cases refers to STEM - or technology related.

Couldn't have said it better.

Sometimes, it amuses me what some people spend time debating here. I see all kinds of arguments, hypotheses and theories. I just smile when I am quoted and hope they all get the job to cure their curiosity.

Did you also sit for the interview?

Egbon, xfire biko nu come and help this guy out. That has been my long innate question but finally someone has asked.

Also, would you go for NNPC job over a fully funded PhD in a U.S top 5 institution?

Oga Jarus you're a treasure trough and your contributions are quite a bliss.

Local men and women, pls anyone who has accurate knowledge regarding this request should help me and this guy, and of course other silent ones who may seek such quest tacitly.

It depends on what you want in life.

On face value, a PhD in a top 5 institution in the US is much better pick than a job with NNPC. You have more opportunities and you can decide to settle in the US or virtually any other country in the world. It's lifetime opportunity I personally wouldn't advise even an enemy to reject for NNPC offer.

On the flip side, I would advise the person to quietly pick an NNPC job if he/she is not interested in academic rigour associated with a PhD program. It takes a whole lot of research and hard work. Family consideration also come into play, eventhough you can also decide to move the family over to the US (so not much of a big issue)

But I will believe that anyone who applied for a PhD program and successfully gets a full funded scholarship is interested and up to the task. So for me, it's the PhD program all the waaaaaaaaaay!!!
