Now of the total of about 100 billion in revenue got each month by the federal govt of nigeria, about 80 billion is got from the Yoruba state only each month. from banking, cell phone ,electricity etc. If you check the location of all the banks in nigeria 80% are located in Yorubaland, which means all of the revenue are coming from us.  Please visit the website of all of the bank

johndoe200:
Have all you who support privatization given a thought to what will happen to those who cannot pay the new tariff? You all seem to assume that everyone can just find the money to pay. The average monthly rent of a face me room is between 2,000 and 4,000 naira. At present they pay around 100 to 600 naira. Do you think that if this goes up to 3,500 they can pay?

Electricity is an essential that has to be subsidized by the government. If they privatize it, there must be a way to subsidize the cost for the poor. If there is no plan for that, then there should be no privatization.

None of you actually has the interest of the masses at heart. How many poor people have 2 generators?
Truth is given a choice, i'll rather electricity not be privatized bt until corruption is dead in this country, PHCN has no hope of delivering to us n when will corruption die.

Its like a slow refining process. Could PDP actually be in the process of giving birth to a truly representative Nigerian party?

The wrecking ball might actually throw up a situation where the scheming cabals eject themselves into irrelevance through their overbearing arrogance and GEJ's previously rejected party reforms (eg digitalising the membership register, new voting mechanisms etc) become accepted, and he is able to empower youthful progressive types like Umar, Utomi, Donald Duke and the Fashola's of Nigeria.
Very true, if PDP breaks up, it just might be the beginning of a new dawn

birdman:
The problem is, you can't address the waste in ND out of the context of waste and corruption in Nigeria. God knows pretty much every ND leader that has come out since Saro Wiwa has been found to be part of the colonisers themselves.
The leaders of Nigeria are the problem of the ND. Sadly, the north has ruled more than any region and therefore more blame should be apportioned to it, so its understandable if anyone wants to blame them. Going by the last 12 yrs, i dare say the south appears to be no better at leading, if region is the problem of Nigeria, then right about now we should have been witnessing a turn around in the state of things, since the north is no longer ruling.

No singular arm of govt is free of blame. The FG (i don't even want to get started with them, they are the worse of the lot), so also the leaders of the ND and even the some of the so-called militants are no better than the north we keep blaming, they also want to fill their pockets.  If the leaders are doing their job, the state of things would not be as sorry as it is. 13% derivation can achieve a lot more than they have to show. Even the community leaders contribute to the plight of their people. The ordinary ND man is the only victim in all of this, they are the ones who suffer most, and sadly the militant leaders take advantage of them to get what they want. Absolving other regions of blame is mere wishful thinking.

On the resolution of the Niger Delta crisis, I am 100% in agreement with you. The so called amnesty paid off both genuine militants and opportunistic criminals, in any event, it was a short term and shortsighted strategy; concrete steps now need to be taken.

i disagree, the amnesty/Niger delta ministry is been mismanaged which is why wole soyinka disassociated from it , with better management, its prospects would be unlimited.

PoliticsRe: Niger Delta: Up To 150 Killed By Army? by xoxogg(f): 11:25am On Dec 03, 2010
AP)  A Nigerian military attack using heavily armed soldiers and aerial bombing runs has killed as many as 150 people in the oil-rich southern delta, a human rights activist said Friday.

Oghebejabor Ikim, national coordinator for the Forum of Justice and Human Rights Defense, told The Associated Press civilians have suffered a heavy toll in the military operation that began Wednesday. He did not say how many of the 150 dead were civilians, but said militants left the area before the offensive began.

The attacks on a village in the Niger Delta continued Friday as the military tried to kill or capture a militant called John Togo who officials said gave up on a government-sponsored amnesty program. The amnesty program for militants brought an uneasy calm to a region vital to U.S. oil supplies, which is now threatened by new militant attacks and government offensives that put civilians at risk.

"I can describe it as a killing spree of innocent civilians," Ikim said. "Houses have been burnt. Women are raped. There are killings. Is that how to get at John Togo?"

A military spokesman said Friday that the operation was ongoing, but declined to comment further. The military has declined to offer a death toll for the operation targeting the village of Ayakoromo and surrounding communities.

An independent assessment of the damage and casualties from the attack has yet to be done. The Nigerian Red Cross and other activists have been unable to reach the targeted communities as the military has sealed off the winding muddy creeks that lead to the region. Activists say they continue to see smoke rising from the area and can hear gunfire.

Video aired Thursday afternoon on the state-run Nigerian Television Authority showed soldiers in flak jackets and helmets traveling by boat through the muddy creeks. The network also showed images of what appeared to be suspected militants in custody and of a soldier setting a hut ablaze with a lighter.

Lt. Col. Timothy Antigha, a military spokesman, previously said soldiers recovered anti-aircraft guns, rocket-propelled grenades, automatic rifles and dynamite from the three camps targeted in the attack.

However, it appears that soldiers have yet to apprehend Togo. Casely Omon-Irabor, a lawyer representing Togo, said Friday that the militant and his fighters were "far away in the high seas" and not in the region being attacked. The lawyer said the government had planned a meeting to negotiate a settlement with Togo, but instead launched a military operation against him.

"I do not see any reason why we are calling for truce and trying to get peace and yet a party for that peace has breached that agreement and gone into war again in the creeks," Omon-Irabor told the AP.

Militants in the Niger Delta have attacked pipelines, kidnapped petroleum company employees and fought government troops since an insurgency began in 2006. The attacks cut drastically into crude production in Nigeria, an OPEC-member nation that is one of the top suppliers of crude oil to the U.S. Production has risen back to 2.2 million barrels of oil a day, in part because many militant leaders and fighters accepted the amnesty deal.

But not all have been pacified. The main militant group in the region, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, has promised to carry out new attacks after claiming responsibility for kidnapping seven expatriate workers in November from offshore oil rigs operated by London-based Afren PLC and Exxon Mobil Corp. The group, known by the acronym MEND, also claimed a dual car bombing that killed at least 12 people and wounded dozens more during an Oct. 1 independence celebration in Nigeria's capital, Abuja. .

Again, theres no where in the Quran where Allah says women should not worship him with menses,He only said we should not have intimacy, and when he was explaining ablution he dnt mention menses as a thing that would make us not to rise up to do wudu to pray, rather,he said,if we made sexual ccontact, deficate, urine, fart
@ify-I think uplawal is of the same opinion about salat as previously stated here because the same person said-
uplawal ]Allah says stay off salat. Some scholars says, kick on,based on Aisha is Her opinion better than Allah's judgement? NO NO, A woman is supposed to stop all obligatoryif she's in that impurity state
@uplawal-I presume u r trying to address the non-muslims curiosity about why a woman shuld nt communicate with her lord during menses but unfortunately it appears as if u r givin an entirely different opinion. I understand what u r trying to say because i already know about menses and salat but ppl who dont know as much could easily get confused.

[quote author=ifyalways:

Most times i dont understand u.
You said something like this b4 when i asked a question relating to women and prayers during their monthly flow and when i asked u for more information and explanation,u quietly let the issue lie and pretended u did not see that.
If i remember correctly again, when we were discussing abt womens node of dressing and modesty,u came in and dropped some very disturbing bomb abt "tents and bo-bou",i asked u for clarificatiions,as usual,u bolted.
I understand how confusing it can be having conflicting information, but let it be clear that u'll meet variuos types of muslims  online n they themselves may not even know better. (no offense to uplawal just a general statement)

So believe ppl who have proved to you that their statements usually hv quranic and hadith grounds. Whenever u r nt completely comfortable with a statement ask for a quranic and hadith reference. I've seen the power of an online community so i wont ask you to stop online questions, i'll only recommend u be selective of what u believe.

As a matter of fact yes i do, if he lies about such a thing, his opposition would find out and use it against him, and i am sure he's aware of that and wouldn't take that risk by kicking himself in the foot. Salat
The five times Salat are set at specific times of the day and night. It is intentional that time out be taken at that time to remind everyone that human beings are simply creations of one Creator, Who can provide them with sustenance or take it away at His Will.

In short, Salat, is the "silla" or "connection" between the one performing the Salat and the one he is praying to. During this connection, all worldly matters are to be shut out of one's mind and all focus directed toward praise and worship.

Dua or supplication
This is another prayer that is informal and can be done with the raising of hands, or solely in the heart, or before one goes to bed or at any time. Literally Du'a is "a calling upon" or a "supplication". Putting it into context, when someone calls upon Allah for something, he is "making Du'a". The person who makes the Du'a is called the Da'iy. Similarly, those that go out and call to the people regarding the religion are making "Da'wa".

Some Differences between the Salat and Dua
Salat is formal; Du'a is not (with a few exceptions).
Salat is performed at fixed times; Du'a can be performed at any time.
Salat requires ablution; Du'a does not.
Salat is to be prayed in congregation; Du'a is an individual experience (however can be group)
Salat must be performed in Arabic and only Arabic; Du'a can be performed in the supplicators native tongue as he or she pleases.

i think the prayer you mean here is dua which you can do as you please regardless of your period.
