it took me a lot of time of time to finish reading the thread.

my opinion
its a transaction between two humble parties and i bet there a lot we don't know here only what they says.

now based on their comments and defenses, am just picking it from the time an exit note was printed because the exit note means you are good to go, @ amdman said 28th, to my understanding the shipping company
is yet to be done. like i prefer shipping company releasing done after the customs releasing just to ease reprinting the debit note for rent because it starts counting after the berth of ship. so after the custom releasing is done you proceed to shipping company which shouldn't take more than a day, inclusive the terminal charge simultaneously, just to ease you getting the terminal delivery order done the next day.

MY Question :- Does Oliverjiad have all needful before and after the exit note is printed?
e.g seaway bill, needed fund e.t.c if just one is missing then it not his fault the consignment is still in the terminal, but if otherwise then you can't just relax without remorse and accrue an unexpected rent for a client that believe in your professionalism to pay its been a week plus till date.


My Observation:- Communication is lost due rude attitude.
I have 2 consignments at hand since Thursday and yet to get a truck for loading out of the terminal. i told the client the containers will leave on Thursday, i could not get a tuck... Friday yet couldn't get a
truck, same yesterday. for any client even your trusted client will believe there is a foul play somewhere, and i told i will be responsible for any demurrage accrue which may be refunded when the consignment is out, all depends on how i speak to the client. which i believe will ease the pressure on the client i used the word ease because the 'ONLY' thing that a client wants to see is his consignment cleared. Our clients do not see at the situation at the port, they only see through what they are told.

@Oliverjiad... This man is your notable client, given and entrusting you with his consignment should not be betrayed. call him leave the bossy attitude, you guy need the equilibrium to communicate and solve this.
The funny part is demurrage is still counting and this consignment must leave the terminal.

Am begging the two parties, leave the faulty part and work towards delivering the consignment, money will be lost every day. Container consignment no be RoRo a lot is involve.

Go through his replies on this thread. Very ambiguous, crafty and not straight forward. He is knowingly speaking discordant English to confuse the public. what I can say is that it’s important to give your clearing agent the bill of lading as early as possible to monitor the arrival of the vessel so that step down could be done if necessary.

Haven’t said that, mr Oliverjiad haven’t been fair enough, that invoice he posted on the front page is a scam. mearsk line invoice can be raised even three weeks before the arrival of the vessel and it will start counting after the vessel has berthed.

Lastly Lagos ports are safe and activities are going on fine as against his claim

You are wrong in your assertion. If you read carefully through Amdman's post.

You will discover the following.

1. Amdman was billed #2.2million for the entire Job, to which he paid a deposit of #1million, and a subsequent instalment of #1.5million in a bid to get the container out and the goods cleared, no way........

2. When this thread was first opened, instead of him, Oliverjiad to straight forwardly, apologise first, he was busy blaming Amdman, "the server was down", "the government isn't helping us agents", Amdman didn't send documents on time, 7.5% vat implementation - which doesn't take effect until February - for vessel that berth first week in january.

3. After everyone started firing him and people he had treated in the same way he has done to Amdman started exposing his methods of extorting people using systems of delay, he apologised and promised to settle everything by next week.

4. After he posted his apology online, this was Amdman's response

"After Customs exit note is obtained, shipping and terminal charges are paid within 24hrs and container is out in 48hrs tops. You have obtained the Customs exit note since January 28. You did not pay shipping line charges until February 6. Till now, you have not paid terminal charges. I sent you additional money to pay demurrage since Tuesday and today is Friday and you have not done anything.

Now you are saying container will be out next week. Who will pay the demurrage charges from now till next week? What is going on?"

Hinting that despite his open apology, he has not chosen to be forthright with Amdman as far as the truth is concerned. Amdman stated boldly that he has ask for proof of payment for terminal charges and Oliverjiad has refused to provide it till now.

Instead he has sent a fresh bill of #1million extra - the new package for both accumulated duemurrage till next week, ancillary charges plus his own personal balance of #200,000 (Lai lai, he can't forget this one,the must collect it). This cash is separate from the #2.5million he has already collected from Amdman, upfront, with no substantial result. If Amdman releases the cash, that's bringing the total cash to #3.5million for a job he initially billed at #2.2milion.

If he can display proof of payment for terminal charges, at least it will help to alleviate Amdman mistrust in the fellow.

And the painful part of it all, is that these cars in the container are fully paid for by buyers already, the extra cost incurred due to the fellow unprofessional behaviour is not captured in the cost of the car, possibly putting Amdman at a loss, for cars that are already low-priced direct from Ontario....

The body language of the Oliverjiad guy, already suggests that next week no go work but let's us believe he doesn't need law enforcement to be involved before he develop sense....

I am oliverjaid, a clearing and forwarding agent. i am not a new face and i have been on Nairaland since 2013.
First i want to apoologise for my recent out bursts and ill mananered responses. it was unproffessional.

In business the customer is king, we hold all our dear clients in high regard and i want to tender an appology specifically to amdman.

Govt policies and shiping protocols have a major part to play in processing clearing of containers and cars in our various terminals. There are times when all systems will be in perfect sync and in 3-6 days the container or car is out, sadly there are times when they stay much longer.

Poor/timely comunication of sensitive documentation required for container processing is key.
I will not be passing the blame to anyone but my self. i should have ensured i had all the tools required to clear the container before giving out an expected time. I own up to my faults and mistakes and promise to make amends going forward.

Your monies are safe, and container is not lost. current protocols require that the container steps down at the port, if not it will be moved to a bonded warehousing facility sadly i cannot influence or speed up that process even if we are to pay extra for it. i know there is a lot of apprehension in certain quaters due to the nature of the transactions, but i can assure you that Mr amdman is an upright business man and your products are safely on nigerian soil.

Kindly bear with me, as i will sort this out and by next week you will all be driving in your freshly imported cars while we put this phase behind us.

once again my appologies to the house, i have learned from my mistakes and i will do better, and serve you better.

I would advise anyone engaging a business deal of a y kind to always goggle the name of the person properly before commencing any deals.
If Amdman had done due diligence before committing money he would have discovered numerous threads on Nairaland about this character oliverjaid.

I must confess, amdman customer service Is very poor. One can easily have high BP after sending him money and him not replying to messages on WhatsApp for days.
