Dangote has increased the price of CEM 42,5 (3X) to 1,745 as against 1,308 he was advertising 3 weeks ago and CEM 32,5 to 1,585 as against 1,150. Now where are his praise singers. Dangote milking Nigerians since 1000BC ![]() |
That is a humpback whale nothing mysterious about the fish. From the picture the fish appeared to have died at sea probably up to two weeks because of the change in skin color. So people are just eating rotten meat that might cost them their health, seen that not even other fishes had even bother to eat from the carcass. |
I read this article sometimes back and inasmuch as I do not really want to believe the article because it looks more like a product of an overactive imagination and an attempt at decently present a carefully woven conspiracy theory, but what if it is me living in denial. Enjoy. We have already been regaled with reports provided by the Wikileaks which identified the US embassy in Nigeria as a forward operating base for wide and far reaching acts of subversion against Nigeria which include but not limited to eavesdropping on Nigerian government communication, financial espionage on leading Nigerians, support and funding of subversive groups and insurgents, sponsoring of divisive propaganda among the disparate groups of Nigeria and the use of visa blackmail to induce and coerce high ranking Nigerians into acting in favor of US interests.http://www.tarnews.co.za/boko-haram-is-a-cia-covert-operation-wikileaks/

I don't like lending my thoughts to discuss that is fast degenerating to tribal bashing but why can't we let go the past. I am yet to come across anybody on this forum that fought in the war and still prays for another. We have the opportunity to correct the mistakes of our fathers but we always allow bitterness get the best of us. Any of us could have been born into any of the numerous tribes in Nigeria the Ijaw man today could have been an Igbo man and the Igbo man today could have been a born an Hausa man. As long as we are still called Nigerians let's fight for her glory, let's see ourselves as brothers. I have learnt from traversing this great Nation from the North to the South, from the West to the East we are the best of people any nation could wish to be. We have simply allow the greedy and self seeking minority of people present in all of our tribe to continue exploiting our past to appropriate our commonwealth and our future for their selfish gain. We can build this nation together, we can be the envy of humanity, we can work as one, we can defy the dark part of our history seeking to destroy our future. Remember I am your future and you are mine. Nigeria, great people, great nation |

The controversies generated earlier this year about cement grade for the need to phase out the production of 32,5 grade of cement which was champion by Dangote by proxy through the Standard Organization of Nigeria, now the initiative seems to be back firing on the proponents. Dangote stand in adverse to other manufacturer was that the Nigerian built environment is not matured/literate enough to understand cement classification and usage but seems to have gone back to its vomit by the announcement of its introduction of 32,5 cement for plastering "according to SON directives" . In full compliance with the directive of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) on the various grades of cement and their prescribed uses, Dangote Cement Plc has announced plans to launch its brand of the premium 32.5 cement grade, selling N200 lower than the price of higher 42.5 grade.http://newtelegraphonline.com/dangote-cement-launches-premium-32-5-brand/ But this is what they told us earlier this year. Dangote Cement Plc has said it manufactures only 42.5 grade cement in all its three plants, which are located in Obajana, Kogi State; Ibese, Ogun State; and Gboko, Benue State.http://thenationonlineng.net/new/we-dont-produce-32-5-grade-cement-says-dangote-ceo/ Now my questions are; 1. Has the Nigerian built environment/ Market "suddenly" matured overnight for Dangote to now start producing 32,5 cement "for plastering only" knowing people will gravitate toward buying that to build since it will cost 200 Naira lower that its current 42,5? 2. Is this an attempt to backtrack knowing well that the professionals in the Nigeria built environment has never bought into the argument of SON and Dangote? 3. With the sustained campaign against 32,5 since last year and the fact that wise Nigerian has stubbornly stuck on to the 32,5 cement in many market over Dangote 42,5 cement (because of quality issue), not a sign that the "needless" battle has been lost? 4. What plan does Dangote and SON have to clamp down on people that will be buy Dangote 32,5 for concrete job knowing that the planned 32,5 cement will have lower strength compared with other 32,5 since it it going to be for plastering only? 5. How long will they take us for fools? ![]() |
This is not Boko Haram neither is it communal class or political assassinations, this is a case of local cults taking revenge on each other. There are two sides to these attacks namely Dey-Well and Dey-Bam cults local to Rivers, Bayelsa and southern Imo State. Killings between them has been going on for years now but the dimension it has taken this time is alarming, because people that are been killed are not just the cult members but their relatives and friends as a case of "if we can get you we will get your families and friend". Two of the notorious communities for cult activities in that area where this current ugly incident is taking place have not been mention in this current fracas and I want to believe it was due to the action taken by the elders of the two communities in 2011 namely Akabuka and Erema where all the cult members were brought to the community square to swear on their gods popularly refers to has Juju in these area. (Egi, Ogba, Egbema, Ndoni and Ekpeye) This recent killing has turned communities like Obukegi to a ghost town, where many suspect the current killings started, when a well known cultist wife was shot in her sleep during assassination attempt of her husband, with the said cultist vowing revenge. I won't be surprise if it is his group making good on their vow. The current situation is a sure reminder that, when a sore is left to fester it will end up consuming the whole body. My beloved Egi people wetin dey happen? |
Zionope: These were d pictures shown to us the day the wooden bridge collapsed, we were made to understand that day that the main bridge is under construction and that and that Ajimobi was too slow about it, u guys even list the slow pace of the bridge as one of the reason(s) why "Ajimobi must go" just two weeks ago ooo. Now u're here telling us again that he commissioned the bridge and it collapsed, do u mean he commissioned an uncompleted bridge? Even if u were fed d rumour, look at d bridge very well, does dis look like a collapsed bridge to u?Help tell the OP o. The OP said he is a professional, but the pictures he posted in contrast to his post speaks otherwise. A good lesson from the post;---Reason hard don't just post anything for sensationalism--- |
Walelavender: I thought you were smart enough to differentiate a make~shift bridge from a Reinforced concrete bridge. From my post, I thought you could see part of the submerged temporary bridge. I dont stand to gain anything from this. The under construction bridge was the only obvious structure you could see; others have been submerged no thanks to the heavy downpour! Btw you think people will gather as early as possible to stare endlessly @ d decimated bridge? Dont you understand1. I may not be smart like you (you know what I mean) but if I were the one posting the article I would have made a clear distinction between a wooden temporary pedestrian staked platform and a bridge been a supposed professional. Because you know the structure that will readily comes to mind when anybody reads the word bridge from you heading. posts below refers; 17. NgeneUkwenu(f): Quote Post 19. oldenglish: wey machinery for the construction company. Na so Ibadan people mumu reach to gather dey watch construction of bridge?Check all the pictures what you will see is a 3 span RCC bridge under construction and if you look at the second picture you will see a broken up wooden pedestrian bridge. So the question is which of the two bridges is the OP referring to? As to the construction equipment I dare the OP to post the surrounding picture of the supposed bridge. ![]() |
@OP fear God o. That picture only shows a bridge under construction with the pier and abutment sticking out of the water and the precast beams that are yet to be placed on them by the side. Your post should have been that the temporary wooden footbridge at Apete has collapsed. The pictures you posted has just nailed you, don't think everyone on Nairaland are without brain, except you are telling us that the pictures you posted were those of the bridge under construction. Try to be fair |

cjrane: An epidemic of substandard cement and fake iron rods. Many cement sellers now re-bag cement with grey colored clay.If you know that the houses that were built back then were with good cement, good reinforcement bars by the supposedly non professional with proper supervision by the relevant authority and the buildings are still standing, why are you rooting for the continuous engagement of unsupervised, unknowledgeable quarks who can not identity the fake cement, fake reinforcement bars and design errors. Secondly, Will there be cement and reinforcement bars in the market if the government have been doing their job? Just try and be objective in your criticism, fake cement, fake reinforcement bars and fake engineers what do you now have? |
I was in Onitsha recently on a working visit to some construction sites and you can't but notice the poor construction practices going on all over the place all in the name of wanting to have a multi storey building like everyone else. The inept government and the relevant authorities also are not helping matters because it was obvious nothing is been done to ensure compliance with the relevant building codes and laws. Noticeable among other things on all the sites are; 1. Absence of professional 2. Construction of floors above the approved 3. Poor or non existence of structural drawing 4. Usage of brittle, light weight poorly grade iron ore instead of well graded crushed aggregate. ( because it's cheap) 5. No mix design nor trial mixes before commencement of job 6. Excessive free water cement ratio 7. Inadequate reinforcement 8. Over proportioning of fines above coarse aggregate 9. Over proportioning of aggregates because a cement producer advertised a cement three times stronger, with more yield. (which is false) 10. Poor and weak sandcrete blocks and the list goes on and on. Until the government stops playing politics with the lives of the people by clamping down on the informal sector of the construction industry more lives are bound to be lost. |
Please can anybody help me to get a pure breed English Mastiff here in Nigeria |
eesquare: I Cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluodI couldn’t believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The phenomenal power of the human mind, according to a research at Cambridge University, it doesn’t matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing Huh? yeah and I always thought spelling was important! If you can read this say awesome !!! Awesome!!! |
Yes, apparently this kind of thing can happen. At least according to Tomasz Paczkowski, from Elbag, Poland, who while trying to help his wife with house chores, accidentally picked up the hot iron instead of the phone and ended up burning half his face. 32-year-old Tomasz Paczkowski had taken a week off from his job, and one morning he decided to prove to his wife that he could be a real asset around the house. Before going off to work, she asked him to iron some clothes, and Tomasz was more than happy to oblige. But, as we men know, ironing can get pretty boring after a while, so the young Pole got the “brilliant” idea to multitask. ‘Women are always going on about multi-tasking, so I set up the iron, opened a beer and turned on the TV to watch boxing’ Mr. Paczkowski said. Everything was going great, and he was actually starting to enjoy doing housework, only at one point he got so involved with the boxing that he wasn’t really thinking about what he was doing. That’s when the phone started ringing… He picked up the receiver, put it to his ear, but all he could hear was the sizzling sound of his face burning. The excruciating pain woke him up, and he realized he had picked up the hot iron instead of the phone. And if that wasn’t bad enough, as he ran to the bathroom to put some cold water on his face, he bashed his left eye against the door, and added even more pain as well as a black eye to the mix. Tomazs told Polish reporters he looked as if he had come out of a boxing game himself. Luckily, doctors say the burns are not that serious, and he’ll make a full recovery. As for Mr. Paczkowski, he swears he will never watch boxing on TV again. There’s your mistake right there, friend, it’s housework you should have stayed away from in the first place, we’re just not cut out for it. http://www.odditycentral.com/funny/man-answers-iron-instead-of-phone-burns-half-his-face.html

Speaking from experience People often criticize what they do not know.I rather have someone that has a device running window 8 or at one time or the other use an iPhone and a device running Android OS to tell us the difference. As for me I had never in my life spoken good of windows Phones (ask a lot of people using iphone) until I was given a Lumia as an official phone at the office. Since I have been given the phone I have been asking myself why have I wasted my money on iPhone when I could have gotten something better in a Windows. With the Lumia it is just like carrying my office in my pocket. Great multimedia and lots more, I can't count the number of time the phone as fallen, scatter to pieces and all I have to do is couple it back and Vola it is back just like 3310. I can therefore summarize my experience this way; Iphone=Class, Window Phone= Productivity. I can therefore bet that the Window Tablet can't be anything less(Productivity wise). |
AwodwaGyanOniwe:I am sure if their is anywhere on earth that Nelson Mandela is revered more than South Africa, it is in Nigeria. So dear your comment stand so much in averse to what Nelson Mandela stood for. Your comment is laden with Hatred and discrimination which he fought to a standstill. People like you never learn anything. Is this the time to castigate or cast aspersion on your brothers? The reason every race under heaven is celebrating this uncommonly great man is because he fought people with your kind of ideology with kindness and forgiveness. Apartheid might have gone but lives on as ethnic and tribal bigotry in people that holds on to your kind of ideology. Africans lets live in harmony and oneness, because that is the only way to keep Madiba's memories alive. His life has thought us that we are more than animals if only we can reason beyond our selfish interests. SLEEP ON GREAT ONE, AFRICANS MOURN AND CELEBRATE YOU, MAY WE ONE DAY COMPREHEND THE FULLNESS OF YOUR SACRIFICE FOR US ALL. VIVA MADIBA |

Tune in to CNN or Aljazzera now Jacob Suma is making the announcement Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (Xhosa pronunciation: [xoˈliːɬaɬa manˈdeːla]; 18 July 1918 — 5 December 2013[1]) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative, multiracial election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as the President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999. A Xhosa born to the Thembu royal family, Mandela attended Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied law. Living in Johannesburg, he became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC and becoming a founding member of its Youth League. After the Afrikaner nationalists of the National Party came to power in 1948 and began implementing the policy of apartheid, he rose to prominence in the ANC's 1952 Defiance Campaign, was elected President of the Transvaal ANC Branch and oversaw the 1955 Congress of the People. Working as a lawyer, he was repeatedly arrested for seditious activities and, with the ANC leadership, was prosecuted in the Treason Trial from 1956 to 1961 but was found not guilty. Although initially committed to non-violent protest, in association with the South African Communist Party he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961, leading a bombing campaign against government targets. In 1962 he was arrested, convicted of sabotage and conspiracy to overthrow the government, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial. Mandela served 27 years in prison, first on Robben Island, and later in Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release, which was granted in 1990 amid escalating civil strife. Becoming ANC President, Mandela published his autobiography and led negotiations with President F.W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory. He was elected President and formed a Government of National Unity in an attempt to defuse ethnic tensions. As President, he promulgated a new constitution and initiated the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty, and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy, Thabo Mbeki. Mandela subsequently became an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Mandela has been a controversial figure for much of his life. Right-wing critics denounced him as a terrorist and communist sympathiser. He nevertheless gained international acclaim for his anti-colonial and anti-apartheid stance, having received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Soviet Order of Lenin. He is held in deep respect within South Africa, where he is often referred to by his Xhosa clan name, Madiba, or as Tata ("Father" ; he is often described as "the father of the nation". He died on 5 December 2013.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela

Year 2013 and my people are still fighting the war many of them knows nothing about. The truth about how it started, what started it all, for whose interest was the war started? Who were the people behind the scene? who were the ones that profited from the war? Now tell me how many innocent souls died on both side of the divide? fourty something years down the lane some people are still shooting e-guns at themselves. What lessons have we learnt from the war? Hausa this, Igbo that, yoruba that. When are we going to grow up and know that no tribe is bigger or can be bigger than this country. How do you explain the continuos existence of this nation with the daily happenings? Almost all the thread you go through daily on nairaland are always derailed to either tribal war or religion war. The existence of this country should be evidence enough of our collective destiny......SMH |
