Maybe you should reason from another angle. This could be a subtle advert, since one of them seated is a Samsung ambassador.

Then talking about achievement, they don't need to show off a phone that has a very minimal percentage to their net worths. These are actually CEOs.
At bolded, which of the following best describe the act been demonstrated in the video with Samsung Fold

A. Marketing
B. Showing off
C. Exhibiting
D. Presenting

Unless you don't live in Nigeria. You won't understand how the rich flaunt material things to impress intimidate other folks

na only black people naim get this kind wretched mentality.

This is how poor people show wealth. Sick destitutes.
I just watched the video now and I was giggling. Chai!
It's even the Kiss Daniel music playing thats annoying. No offense to the artist, but why sing about 'My G, you don't have money'. In real Yoruba value and ethics. Money is not the priority. But now that we are all swallowed in this capitalistic world of material chasm. It's a whacky race, and many with no proper orientation would bloodied their hands just to that cash. It's insane. On a norms, say 1$ was N25.38K (twenty five naira thirty eight Kobo). How much would an iPhone 15pro max or Samsung Fold cost in Naira ? Flagship phones among many other importables would have this icon of exorbitant associated mentally to the rich in Nigeria.

Factfinder1:
Low self esteem

Poverty mentality.

Having money doesn't make you rich.

Wealth is of the mind
How many of our so called rich, elites, big men and women has genuinely ever done something innovative or used their billions to invent paradigm shifting formulae or technology/medical solution. All they know is blight consumerism, gloat in their materialistic wealth, flaunting of exquisite cars with components that has to be imported if it's due for replacement, and thats the mentality they have instilled on the youths from Millenials to GenZs. Anything to keep that class struggle ever apart.

Yeah, some may argue it is the same in abroad, but what they always forget to note is that - in that same abroad, their people are relatively well off as their are numerous programs made available by their government for their citizens to utilize in order to achieve anything or purchase anything, so who wan dey intimidate who?

Have you heard of the Nothing phone before. That's class. I'd prefer a Sony Xperia 1V because its more than practical for cinematographic usage and adaptable for other purposes. Imagine how so called big boys carrying a cumbersome gadget with a screen the size of a Platypus head. I had to go dump my Samsung tablet as it's just heavy to manoeuvre when layed back.

Exactly. There are several billionaires in dollars who don't see the need to be in possession of these smartphones made mostly for geeks. But in a colonized carving like Nigeria, it is a symbol of status where only 5℅ of it complete function is only been harnessed.

For where? When oppressors disguised as politicians are dashing an hermaphrodite N5M per month, inducing poverty as their yearly manifesto to cause more hunger on an already starved population, so they can be swayed to vote in a fake election process that bears no accountability not transparency. Such a system can not allow even the bright minds in the darkness to invent or innovate, such mind would be scolded for even trying and advised to seek out shortcut to monetary breakthrough, use the ill gotten funds to purchase materials stuff imported from abroad to intimidate his fellows in order to show class status.

Listen st3wp1d, no one ever said nobody shouldnt buy it if you've got the money. What's been stated is - Nigerians materialistic craze in a country of untold hardship is absurd and senseless. All for the sake of intimidating others and feeding their ego. An old friend of mine in US told me, those exotic cars Nigerians drool and pray to heaven to buy are not coveted in America.

I watched a Korean movie on Netflix (we're all dead) their high school kids were making drones. And to them it was nothing. Most of these phones and other gadgets we worship here, you'd be shocked that even their high school kids use them and they don't make noise about it.

Here in Nigeria all we do is to flunt what other hard working countries make. In fact you're classified as a big boy whenever you publicly flunt gadgets that even teenagers over there can easily afford.

Do you think if innoson had a car assemble plant in Korea, Korean owners of his cars would be squealing like coven witches for owning an African car?

Well, scientists have determined there are possibly 100's of dimensions while we perceive only 4. What would you call beings from those dimensions?
Also geniuses, including Einstein, Tesla, Drake, Muhammed, etc saud they were fed thoughts. Where are those thoughts from?

The problem with our science is that
it is like we are trying to answer the question: X+5=?, without knowing AT ALL what X is, wether X is even a number at all or a goat! It is also why our greatest thinkers end up saying we don't know anything - if you don't know what X is, you don't know anything!
Dimensions from a theoretical sense as it's relates to complex maths and physics enriches our understanding as to what define our reality beyond what we readily perceive as thus. It is you who have concluded other dimensions are bearer of beings. I think what you meant , as I'll put it... they could be realities wherein other consciousness (entities) operates on more dimensions than ours so they possibly could be inaccessible to us, metaphysically speaking however there are ways by which those before us could connect to them, either to acquire insight, noesis, knowledge, truth, clarity, foresight etc.

Crypto itself is decentralized and outside the control of any government in the world, so they can only go after exchanges that are controlled by people who basically act as middlemen.
But the reality is that crypto doesn't even need exchanges.
That was the original intro versus the reality today. There are hundreds of cryptos than they are terrorists organizations to use them. But please explain a reality where crypto doesn't need exchanges. MM so to speak.

Crypto actually have all the attributes.

Do you know that there will never be more than 21m bitcoin?

You can't over print it, looking at history of money you'll find out that when money is in excess like in Nigeria now, it lead to inflation.

The more you make the lesser the value.

In the case of every crypto you can't make excess.

And block chain technology makes it impossible for anyone to perform copy and paste magic. Every cryptocurrency generated has a unique ID that makes it accepted by the block chain.

Then it's not centralized, so no one can play monopoly of it, the fact that it cost so much to mine a coin is a good reason why the value of cryptocurrency is so high.

Your government needs money to control you, if they can't control money they can't control you that is why they don't want to accept it as legal tender.

I hope I have help you understand a bit more about cryptocurrency
What if per stroke of chance one tech psychonaut figured out a way to, and disrupted blockchain technology powering BTC crypto world over, won't that be an 'that's all folks! End of it?

As I said in my previous response, your arguments, or Sam's statement for that matter, only make sense in the context of perception of reality and not that of questioning the existence of reality.

Unless, of course, you have a different understanding of reality.

A little side note:

I think the point you are trying to make is that the nature of reality, as we know it, may not be the real representation of reality. What we perceive of reality is limited to our five senses, which we heavenly rely on to define our surroundings. Correct?

We cannot question the nature of existence if we don't exist, can we?
Have you tried to heightened your state of perception before? There is reality, there is true reality, there is hyper reality, there is ultra reality. There are all types of realities. I don't like the word "spiritual" / "spirituality". It has been damaged with no objectively meaningful definition, instead I prefer a term I had to come up with I call NPR ie Non Physical Realities.

Abeg who you know wey don see shape shifting demons everyday.

Does who are 100% sure that the supernatural doesn't exist bear a nuanced understanding of that word - "supernatural" They process it only within a the framwork of Christo-judeo myths repackaged into religion.

Supernatural is as to me as it would be to a 11th century English man seeing how I press some things on my phone screen and he sees an image of himself captured. He yells... "This must only be the work of a devil."

Both you atheists and theists have got lots of retuning to do, because both are as confuse as they come.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Defence Industry Manufacturers Display Products At World Exhibition by y3mi(m): 4:05pm On Mar 07
Africa ain't matching the world in military equipment and warfare until weaponry capable of feats that theirs would never be capable of, such as repositioning of incoming missiles back to its sender source, capturing of all forms of incoming projectiles for deflection, redirection or spatial dumping. Real time cloaking tech and teleportative capability. These are stuff that can be achieved by R&D into our respective esoteric knowledge but which no one is interested in except to be copying and regurgitating a mockup of what the West, Asia and all other true nations have done. They will beat us in any war games of their own design because they own all the fundamentals by which every hardware was manufactured, and learned tactics. So until we start thinking outside their box to create weaponry that redefines how battles are fought, and territories are defended, we can never ever match them. That can only be achieved in an ethnolinguistic homogenous nation and never within a colonial contraption as we have in SubSaharan Africa. During the Battle of Kusk Salient, the greatest tank warfare ever fought, the best of Russia and German technologies clashed, of course there were other important factors. However no one copied one another. I'm not here to argue blindly. It's my opinion, respect mine as I'll respect yours so no insulting.

The answer to your question is quite simple: forced conformity.

We're born wired for connection to our fellow humans, but somewhere along the evolutionary line, we mistook conformity for belonging. We traded our unique personalities for predictability and bland routines.

There's beauty in unity, but not when it's a chorus of mindless rhetorics.
Forced conformity! How interesting.
What would be more interesting is to learn from you what and what could be behind the enforcement of this conformity, afterall, you'll agree -behind every forces exist an enforcer or exertive factor.

I don't accept we are born wired for connection to fellow humans as such assertion not only contravenes the subject of unmasking the magic of individualism as your piece attempts to tackle, it also fails to breakdown why the majority tend not to go beyond the script as its just played out tonight - Nigeria - an oppressive colonial state that perpetually makes life unbearable for the people, no light, insane economy, corruption, no security and safety as crime reigns etc yet the majority amassed to watch a football match in the cover of pitch darkness afforded by the incessant blackouts. What breeds this sort of conformity for human to conform into a fixation of pseudo-euphoria attached to pain and suffering constantly brought by those who will bask in the glory of credit or the oppresive ruiners if Nigeria had won ?

There's beauty in unity, but not when it's a chorus of mindless rhetorics.
I agree. That defines who Nigerians are.
Family / Re: Beyond The Script: Unmasking The Magic Of Individualism by y3mi(m): 10:24pm On Jan 30
JessicaRabbit:
This is something I've been pondering on for quite some time. So I guess I need to finally get it off my chest.

The human species has become disturbingly obsessed with blending in, following the script, finding comfort in the crowd etc. I believe this mentality of trying to enforce a collective harmony of thought across all individuals in a society is ultimately dangerous. Conformity, my friends, is a hydra of a beast. It sprouts heads of societal expectations, whispers of "supposed tos," and the poisonous sting of judgment. It tells women they must bloom in gardens of domesticity, men they must conquer mountains of machismo, and everyone else they must fit into pre-made boxes with labels that chafe.

...And to all of that, I say pish posh! True belonging isn't found in fitting in, it's found in standing out, in raising your voice, in being your unapologetically authentic self. People who embrace their true nature and gifts are often the ones who break new ground, explore new possibilities, and solve problems in novel ways. They are not afraid to experiment, fail, and learn from their mistakes. They are not bound by the limitations of conventional wisdom, tradition, or dogma. They are willing to challenge the assumptions, paradigms, and methods of their fields and disciplines. Non-conformists are the pioneers, the inventors, the reformers, and the revolutionaries of human history.

For instance, Galileo Galilei was a non-conformist who defied the Catholic Church and the Aristotelian worldview by supporting the Copernican heliocentric model of the solar system. He used his telescope to observe the moons of Jupiter, the phases of Venus, and the spots on the sun, providing empirical evidence for his claims. He also developed the scientific method of observation, experimentation, and mathematical analysis, laying the foundations of modern science. Galileo's non-conformism led to his persecution by the Inquisition, but also to his recognition as one of the greatest astronomers and physicists of all time. Let's not also forget Marie Curie, defying the scientific establishment with her radioactive glow, or Martin Luther King Jr., thundering against the storm of segregation with his words of revolution, or Malala Yousafzai, a mere child challenging the bullets of oppression with her thirst for knowledge etc etc. These are the heroes of individualism, the ones who dared to be different, to chase their own moons, and in doing so, illuminated the path for others. And individualism isn't just about grand gestures. It's in the daily choices, the quiet rebellions. It's in wearing the purple socks with the orange polka dots, in pursuing the unconventional career, in loving (or not loving) whomever your heart desires. It's in saying "no" to the stifling expectations and "yes" to your own inner vibes.

So, my dears, raise a glass to the rebels, the outliers, the mavericks who dance to the music of their own souls. Remember, individualism isn't just a right, it's a responsibility. It's the torch we carry, lighting the way for a world where every color shines, every note rings true, and every heart beats to its own, perfect rhythm. Now, go forth and paint the world with the vibrant hues of your individuality!

What a beautiful and well expressed piece of nugget.
The question I often ponder on is... why does the majority's default falls into the chasm of herd mentality as everyone seem unable to break away from the trappings of the band wagon effect ?
Those who dare to be different or by nature of the true self don't know how to conform to societal dictate while adhering to a view that isn't populist.
