The House of Representative Committee which is investigating alleged misappropriation of funds in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has summoned Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, to appear before it on Monday. This follows the appearance of the former Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Joi Nunieh, on Friday via Zoom.

2. A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has restrained the Nigeria Police and other Law enforcement agencies from arresting the former Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joi Nunieh. The court presided over by Justice S.E Thompson also granted an ex-parte order, restraining the NDDC and others from arresting Nunieh, pending the determination of the matter in court.

3. The Federal Government has provided some specific guidelines for reopening of schools in the country. The guidelines announced by the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, on Friday cover four thematic areas. They include: staying home and learning safely before schools and learning facilities reopen; Reopening process; and conditions for safety when learning facilities are reopened.

4. The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has appointed Ojo Amos Olatunde as the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly (CNA), The Cable reports. The former clerk, Mohammed Sani-Omolori was removed for refusing to retire after 35 years in service. Omolori had argued via a press release, insisting his time was not up yet.

Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have foiled a bank robbery in Mpape, a few metres from Maitama, Abuja.

The police gunned down a suspect and arrested four others inside a branch of First Bank Plc.

According to details gathered, the robbers were trapped in the bank for about four hours, following the arrival of security operattives who surrounded the building.

Liverpool have confirmed that their manager, Jurgen Klopp, has signed a new contract extension that will keep him at Anfield until 2024.

The UEFA Champions League holders made this known in a statement on their official website on Friday.

The statement read: “Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce Jürgen Klopp has agreed a contract extension with the club.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday adjourned until Thursday for the continuation of trial of popular musician, Azeez Fashola a.k.a. Naira Marley, who is facing fraud and theft charges.

The case was adjourned following a letter by defence counsel, Mr Olalejan Ojo (SAN), who was not available.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) preferred an 11-count charge against the musician, NAN reports.

The charges border on conspiracy, possession of counterfeit credit cards and fraud.

One Yad Isril, still at large, was charged alongside the musician.

Fashola, who sang the popular song: “Am I a Yahoo Boy?”, was arraigned on May 20 before Justice Nicholas Oweibo, but he pleaded not guilty.

The court granted him bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.

According to the EFCC, he committed the offences on different dates between Nov. 26, 2018 and Dec.11, 2018, as well as May 10, 2019.

The commission alleged that Fashola and his accomplices conspired to use different Access Bank ATM cards to defraud their victims.

It alleged that the defendant used Access Bank credit card number 5264711020433662, issued to another person, in a bid to obtain fraudulent financial gains.

The EFCC also said that he possessed counterfeit credit cards belonging to different people, with intent to defraud which amounted to theft.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday, said it cannot guarantee industrial peace and harmony, if state governors refuse to conclude negotiations and payment of the National Minimum Wage by December 31.

In a communique issued at the end of its meeting with state council chairmen on implementation of the national minimum wage, the union said there were currently three implementation categories in which all states fell into.

NAN reports that the communique was jointly signed by NLC President; Dr Ayuba Wabba, NLC General Secretary; Emmanuel Ugboaja and Abdulrafiu Adeniji; National Chairperson, Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (Trade Union Side).

The communique noted that Kaduna, Kebbi, Lagos and Adamawa have commenced implementation and payment of the new minimum wage, while Jigawa had concluded negotiations but yet to make its first payment to workers.
It also noted that Borno, Abia, Kano, Bayelsa, Sokoto, Niger, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ondo, Ebonyi, Katsina and Zamfara States, have constituted a negotiating committee between their state government and Labour, following consequential adjustments of salaries.

“States which have not put in place a Negotiating Committee between the State Government and Labour on the consequential adjustment of salaries, include Bauchi, Yobe, Rivers, Benue, Gombe, Kwara, Imo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Anambra, Taraba, Cross River, Ogun, Enugu, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi and Delta States.”

The communique noted that Organised Labour in the states comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (Trade Union Side) would work in harmony to ensure that all workers enjoy the full benefit of the[b] new National Minimum Wage.[/b]

Popular young rapper, Juice Wrld is dead

He died after suffering a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport, TMZ reports.

It was learnt that Juice’s flight from California landed early Sunday morning and he suffered the seizure while walking through the airport.

It was reported that Juice was still conscious when he was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.

As at the time of filing this report, the cause of his death is unclear.
But, law enforcement sources say he was bleeding from the mouth when paramedics got on scene.

Nollywood actor, Gbenro Ajibade has confirmed that he and estranged wife, Osas Ighodaro are finally divorced.
Gbenro made the revelation in an interview on Rubbin minds on Channels Television.

He revealed that they are currently divorced and are co-parenting their only child.

There were speculations that the couple’s marriage hit the rocks months ago after Gbenro called out Osas on his Instagram page.

He accused her of neglecting their child a number of times so she can be out all night partying and hanging out with friends.
When asked if he and Osas were still married, Gbenro said ”We have divorced for a while now though not publicized but we are co-parenting.”

Sen. Kamala Harris ended her 2020 presidential campaign on Tuesday, an abrupt departure for a candidate who was once seen as a leading contender for the Democratic nomination.

The California Democrat told her senior staff of the decision Tuesday morning, and later sent an email to supporters and released a video on Twitter.
“To you my supporters, my dear supporters, it is with deep regret — but also with deep gratitude — that I am suspending our campaign today,” Harris said in the video.
“But I want to be clear with you: I am still very much in this fight,” Harris continued. “And I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the people. All the people.”
Harris’ exit from the race is a precipitous fall for a candidate who launched her campaign to high expectations. The senator has struggled for months to move her low poll numbers and said Tuesday that financial pressures led her to end her bid. The lack of support and money led to internal squabbling in the closing months of the campaign, campaign sources told CNN, all of which contributed to her inability to stay in the race.

Washington (CNN)Roughly two years after her anti-Donald Trump text messages were released to Congress and she became a public target of the President’s ire, Lisa Page said it’s time to break her silence.

The embattled former FBI lawyer resurfaced her Twitter account Sunday night, tweeting, “I’m done being quiet,” along with a link to a new interview with The Daily Beast. In that interview, Page called Trump’s attacks “sickening” and said she chose to speak out after the President did a lewd impression of her text exchanges with former FBI agent Peter Strzok, with whom she had an affair, during a Minnesota rally in October. The President has frequently criticized the series of texts in which Page and Strzok disparaged the then-presidential candidate.
“I had stayed quiet for years hoping it would fade away, but instead it got worse,” she said. “It had been so hard not to defend myself, to let people who hate me control the narrative. I decided to take my power back.”
She added: “It’s like being punched in the gut. My heart drops to my stomach when I realize he has tweeted about me again,” she said. “The president of the United States is calling me names to the entire world. He’s demeaning me and my career. It’s sickening.”
Page’s comments come ahead of the Department of Justice Inspector General’s report on FBI surveillance during its early investigation into Russia 2016 election interference that is due on December 9. Page and Strzok were also involved in the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s handling of classified information and served on the special counsel’s team. Strzok was dismissed from Robert Mueller’s team once the text messages were uncovered by internal investigations. Page resigned after the text messages were discovered.
CNN previously reported the report is expected to say the Russia probe was properly launched in summer 2016 but lower-level employees made a series of mistakes. Page said she expects it will show that she acted professionally without bias against the President.
“While it would be nice to have the IG confirm publicly that my personal opinions had absolutely no bearing on the course of the Russia investigations, I don’t kid myself that the fact will matter very much for a lot of people,” Page said. “The President has a very loud megaphone.“
