You’re still not getting it Imagine if I asked you in 20 years what happened between Fubura and Wike and you’re telling me to go and look at the writings of Wike to get the facts If you call yourself an analyst then more research from various sources behooves you Once more it has nothing to do with the stock markets JoshTim: Lol... continue to wallow in mis-information. The banks on their own had bad debts, alot of it, and were not making alot of profit as reported as at then due to window dressing, reason for ifrs 9 adoption in Nigeria.
Now, what banks did was artificially creating unreal demands for their stocks, thus pushing up the price....this is the burble.
Global economic melt down which started in the US as a result of crash of housing mortgage/us banks dealing in mortgage affected Nigerian Stock Exchange and ofcourse, the burble burst. Get your facts right. I was an investment analyst. Go and read about sls presentation papers. |
Politics › Re: Former Emir Sanusi's Fraud Further Exposed by Yankee101: 6:17pm On Feb 16, 2024 |
Remember what I first told you? You have some facts but peppered with plenty inaccuraciesIntercontinental, Oceanic etc were not brought down because the market crashed in the United States and neither was the impact significant on the Nigerian stock market JoshTim: So, if you were a participant, let me ask, did bank directors took loans, took it to the exchange, bought their shares(some through proxies) in attempts to push their stock prices up?
If yes, your earlier stand was wrong. There is huge nexus between the Nigerian Stock Market and reasons why Nigerian banks failed. And also, there is a huge nexus between the economic melt down of 2008/2009 and the stock market crash of 2008/2009. When the economic melt down happened, the bubble burst and no amount of money could ever be enough to push the stock prices up. |
Politics › Re: Former Emir Sanusi's Fraud Further Exposed by Yankee101: 5:11pm On Feb 16, 2024 |
JoshTim: Go and read seminar papers released by SLS, then you will understand how the stock market crash of 2008 affected banks. Focus more on mal-feasances of bank directors on the floor of NSE and impact on their own bank shares.
Ever heard of burble-burst?.... I was a participant I don’t have to read what SLS wrote I’m not answering you from any google search |

JoshTim: If you say this, then you know little or nothing about the 2008 stock market crash. Intercontinental bank collapse has nothing to do with the 2008 stock market crash And the 2008 stock market crash was about subprime mortgages Nigeria didn’t have any deep derivative market or even a significant mortgage portfolio. Lastly, Nigerian banks collapsing was a process that began pre 2008 Try again |

It’s been a disaster
Even some of us abroad are not happy
The implication is a collapsing economy, erased savings, net zero or negative investments you changed dollars to naira to do in nigeria and an obliterated middle class. The erosion In purchasing power means businesses will fold up as people are not buying their goods and services anymore as they used to |
