Operatives of the Nigerian military have allegedly attacked the residence of Yoruba freedom fighter, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, in the early hours of Thursday.
SaharaReporters gathered that the soldiers unleashed mayhem on the activist’s house in the Soka area of the city as early as 1 am.

At least 10 vehicles belonging to Igboho, including his G-wagon, Prado SUVs, and valuable properties, furniture, and windows were destroyed.

Bullet holes were also found on the buildings in the compound while bloodstains were seen on the premises by our correspondent.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, an eyewitness said, “They were all soldiers, military men. They came in vans and Hummer buses. They abducted his wife and others. They killed two people.”

Ighoho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, also confirmed the incident in a Facebook Live.

He said, “The situation now is very bad. Two Yoruba sons have been killed in the house of Chief Sunday Igboho. The two dead bodies have been taken away by the military. We do not know of the location where they were taken to.

“I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came.”

The incident happened 72 hours to the Yoruba Nation rally slated for Saturday in Lagos.

Nigerians on the microblogging platform, Twitter, have called on its CEO, Jack Dorsey to suspend the account of Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari.

This follows Buhari's tweet which stated that his government will get “harder” on those hellbent on destroying Nigeria.

He said those wanting to destroy his government will receive the shock of their lives as his administration will do everything possible to ensure they fail.

The president said the sponsors and orchestrators of insecurity in the country are doing so because they want his administration to fail.

His tweet read, ”I receive daily security reports on the attacks on critical national infrastructure, and it is very clear that those behind them want this administration to fail. Whoever wants the destruction of the system will soon have the shock of their lives. We’ve given them enough time.

“I received a briefing today from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the series of attacks on their facilities nationwide. These attacks are totally unacceptable, and we will not allow those behind them to achieve their evil objectives.

“I have assured INEC that we will make available to them everything they need to operate efficiently, so that no one will say we don’t want to go, or that we want a third term. There will be no excuse for failure. We will meet all of INEC’s demands.

“In the area of security, we have changed the Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General, and we are demanding that they rise fully to the challenges confronting us. There must be zero tolerance for all those bent on destroying our country by promoting crime and insurrection!

“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

The President's Twitter account is currently being reported by Nigerians who understood the last part of the thread as threats against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Hundreds of his supporters entered the complex as the US Congress attempted to certify Joe Biden's victory in the presidential election. The ensuing violence led to the deaths of four civilians and a police officer.

Twitter warned then that it would ban Trump "permanently" if he breached the platform's rules again. Trump posted two tweets further that the company cited as the final straws.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, Prof Banji Akintoye, has denied working with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

According to Akintoye, who is also the leader of the umbrella body for Yoruba self-determination groups known as Ilana Omo Oodua, reports linking his organisation and IPOB together are false.
A statement by the group’s Media Communications Secretary, Maxwell Adeleye, on Monday, titled, ‘Ilana Omo Oodua said the group was working with Lower Niger Congress and not IPOB or its leader, Kanu.

The statement read, “The attention of Ilana Omo Oodua has been drawn to postcards being circulated online titled, ‘Roma Mega Rally; Oodua and Biafra in Italy’ with the picture of the leader of Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof Banji Akintoye and that of Chief Sunday Igboho placed side by side with the picture of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, creating the false impression that Prof Banji Akintoye and the Yoruba Organisations aggregating under the Ilana Omo Oodua banner are in some kind of working relationship with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Indigenous People of Biafra.

“The general public is hereby informed that neither Prof Banji Akintoye nor Ilana Omo Oodua is in any form of working relationship with Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB and that the use of the picture of Prof Banji Akintoye on the said postcard advertising the Roma Italy Mega Rally was unauthorised.

“It is as well an embarrassment to both Prof Akintoye and the Ilana Omo Oodua organisation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the organisation in the East of Nigeria with which Illana Omo Oodua is collaborating under the aegis of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (NINAS) is the Lower Niger Congress.

“Members of the public should please disregard this misleading postcard and any such false impression in the future.”

According to him, the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school where the incident took place, was built by a retired immigration officer.

Details of the attack are still sketchy, but sources said the school is not the usual Sangaya boarding Islamic school, but a conventional one where parents send their children on a daily basis for the purpose of acquiring Islamic education.

At the time of filing this report, the police had yet to make any comments regarding the development.

The EFCC boss stressed that the houses seized from the former Minister was also valued at $80 million (about N37, 000, 000, 000).

Jewellery worth N14.6 billion was seized from former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), the anti-graft agency had said.

This was disclosed on Friday by the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the assessment and status of recovered loot in Abuja.
Bawa revealed that Diezani’s jewellery is still in the custody of the agency, noting it has finally been forfeited to the Federal Government.

He stressed that it had not been auctioned off.

The EFCC boss stressed that the houses seized from the former Minister was also valued at $80 million (about N37, 000, 000, 000).

According to Bawa, the court processes, procedures and administrative exigencies, are said to have stalled the process of having some of the seized assets auctioned by the anti -graft agency. He noted that the agency would henceforth deal with the seized assets case by case at the courts in order to quickly dispose the assets.

“Already the Federal Government has set up a committee under the chairmanship of the Solicitor-General for the Federation and I think they are working tirelessly.

“We have EFCC representatives from that committee and we believe at the end of the day Nigerians are going to appreciate what that committee will come out with in term of the mandate given to them,” he said.

Bawa who stated that he was not a member of the committee to know how soon the assets were going to be disposed said in its quest to transform the agency, it would soon digitalise its processes.

Four additional departments which include Intelligence, procurement, Internal Affairs and the Information Communication Technology Department had been created and upgraded to restore confidence. Bawa said.


According to NAN, Bawa said there was no loot that had been re-looted as being speculated, stressing that going forward, the EFCC would be different and Nigerians would be the better for it.

Lagos on the move.....

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has delivered a world-class bus terminus for passengers distribution around international gateway.

Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, commissioned the Mafoluku Bus Terminus fully built by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) in collaboration with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The terminus is a gateway station that will serve Mafoluku, Oshodi, and Ajao Estate environs, providing bus connections primarily to Oshodi Transport Interchange, Ikeja Bus Terminus, Mile 2 and other parts of Lagos.

The Mafoluku Terminus will also provide a means of connection to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and the domestic wing of the airport.

During the formal opening of the transport infrastructure, Sanwo-Olu said the project represented his government’s objective of providing an integrated intermodal transport system through public and private investments under the Traffic Management and Transportation pillar of his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.

He said the State Government’s partnership with the Federal Government on the project was borne out of the need to ramp up transport infrastructure around international gateway areas, thereby providing a common place for commuters and commercial vehicles to meet.

He said: “The bus terminus we are commissioning today is the outcome of the partnership between Lagos State and the Federal Government, represented by FAAN. The construction of bus terminals and shelters is a crucial aspect of our Bus Reform Initiative (BRI) through which we have delivered and commissioned bus terminal in Oyingbo and launched Oshodi-Abule Bus Rapid Transit stations and corridor.

The terminus is a gateway station that will serve Mafoluku, Oshodi, and Ajao Estate environs, providing bus connections primarily to Oshodi Transport Interchange, Ikeja Bus Terminus, Mile 2 and other parts of Lagos.

The Governor disclosed that more bus terminals would be delivered in the coming months in Agege, Ojota and Ajah under the first phase of the implementation of BRI, stressing that transport infrastructure was being complemented by Blue and Red metro lines to achieve integrated transport system in line with the strategic master plan of the state.

The government, he said, will soon complete the BRT corridor of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, while working to scale up infrastructure for bus corridors and two interchanges in Marina and Mile 2.

Sanwo-Olu said the recently launched First and Last Mile (FLM) Buses was the last layer of the BRI and designed to give private individuals an opportunity to invest in public transportation. This, he said, would solidify the State Government’s plan aimed at ensuring public transportation is moved from an unregulated framework to a regulated model.

He said: “In order to achieve a world-class transportation system in Lagos State, we have intensified efforts to deliver the first two of the six rail lines and one monorail captured in our Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP), which are the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red and Blue Lines. The journey to an integrated intermodal transport system is challenging but we are steadily moving towards our goal.”

Managing Director of FAAN, Captain Rabiu Yadudu, represented by Director of Finance, Nike Aboderin, described the project commissioning as “a significant milestone” in partnership, noting that the terminal would provide organised distribution of passengers to and from international carriageways.

Managing Director of LAMATA, Abimbola Akinajo, said the bus terminal was built on a land of 7,952 square metres, which was provided by FAAN. The edifice, she said, has a tarmac that can accommodate 27 high occupancy vehicles and drop off zone.

The terminal has facilities, including ticketing and sitting area, control room, cafeteria, public conveniences, commercial areas staff offices, ATM gallery and IT department.
