codemaniacs: the name on the passport gives away the ethnicity of the person..
so there is tribe on the passport. You don't get my point. The foreign person at border control checking your passport has no clue what your tribe is neither are they interested in knowing, all they see is your NIGERIAN passport. Same with when you're interviewing for foreign opportunities, all they see is you're Nigerian. So at the end of the day, we are simply doing a disservice to ourselves by rubbishing different parts of the country under the guise of tribalism. |

Raskimonojendor: Oh. That was a long time ago. I just returned from the UK after my degree. I interviewed with Rocket Internet just before they set up Jumia in Nigeria. I was given a verbal offer. I accepted, worked one week and quit. I think I was interviewed by a German and Spanish guy like in Ikoyi.
The job was business development and it too too was stressful. Lagos traffic wanted to drive me crazy. So you are this exposed yet spend valuable time trolling online. Why on earth would anyone do that to themself? |

Emeskhalifa: Obviously they don't want other countries to see that bad things happen in their country.
It is only in Nigeria that you will see a Nigerian goes online badmouthing his country before foreigners, making his country a laughing stock. I wonder where patriotism is
No country is perfect but Nigerians think it is only Nigeria that is bad. Well said. Tribalism is also one of the main issues, you see people pasting unflattering pictures about the other tribe's areas not realizing they are contributing to damaging the image of the country. The Nigerian passport has no tribe so we are ALL seen as Nigerians at the end of the day by outsiders. People should desist from this. |

Jasonekah98: I didn't stay up to a month. After staying Idle at hone for a while, i got this job at an upscale restaurant in Uyo. The job description was for that of a Manager/Assistant, the pay was 40k, and after calculating the transportation cost from my bat cave to work, it was worth it, I was told we would be on shifts between 8am - 3pm, 3pm-10pm, Mondays - Sundays. Well, i was tired of being Idle, might as well just work myself to stupor, i got the job. Brothers and Sisters, ladies and gentlemen, after a week, the shifts didn't start and i was working from 8am - whatever time the guests leave, most times I'd get home by 1am . I took it up to the owner and head chef, she said it would be sorted out as soon as she got one more person to add yo the workforce. Omor, a week passed again and still no one came, plus the working environment was always teased when the owner was around. She's impatient, gets angry easily. That was my concern as every job had it's yunno... Few days to when the bubble bursted, I was doing my usual morning routine of stock taking as it was part of my job as the Assistant manager, I got talking with the kitchen staff, and I was told she severely hit one of the girls the day before and she got injured, at first, i thought it was a joke till the girl herself showed me, i was shocked and proceeded to ask if she had always been that way, they said "Yes oooo, infact before you resumed, one girl left because she was constantly receiving beatings from the boss" I laughed sha, cos it all seemed like a joke, till it happened right before my eyes. Guests arrived after booking for dinner, and at that point the food wasn't ready due to the fact that the boss didn't release money in time for things to be bought, and when the money came, it was almost time for dinner. Guests arrive, Boom!!, generating set went off, Ahan! , walahi i became confused, without electricity, the kitchen couldn't function. I tried to be calm as the head huncho at the time, but i couldn't seem to now wha happened. At this time, some of the guests were already eating, while some were waiting. I had no option than to call the boss to inform her bout the situation (wrong move as all hell broke loose). When she arrived, she didn't speak to me, not one word to me, the generating set came back on, but at this time, the guests who were yet to get their meal were already murmuring, but a good number of people were already getting their meals. I went into the diner to try to pacify the guests as the food would soon be out, as i was doing so, i heard noise outside, didn't know where it was coming from, but i knew something was wrong. I stepped into the kitchen to see madness. One of the girls who was preparing a meal was pinned to the wall by her throat while holding a spatula as she was preparing semo, and thus semi was on the gas, which was still on. There was pepper all over the floor, the manager (a lady) was her knees begging for her life, the boss's kids were crying and begging her to stop and calm down. It's was chaos in that kitchen. Unfortunately the boss got wind of the fact that some guests had not been served and she exploded! She held the girl by her throat, pinned her to the wall yelling, i came in just in time to release her grip. I begged sha . No be small thing that day, she left the girl, got hold of the second girl, began to hit that one, i screamed and at that point she faced me, omor , she held me by my collar saying "you'll kill me" "you want to ruin my business" all i kept saying was "I'm sorry ma" omor, she no gree o. As i kept begging, she was attacking everyone in the kitchen. I stood up from the floor in anger, went back into the diner, dropped the organization's phone, picked up my bag, phones and chargers and left. I have worked as a data entry officer at a prominent mall in Uyo for 4 years, never have i seen anything like that before. Prior to that day, since i got there it's been from one level of anger to the other. The dissatisfaction, the anger, the impatience. No matter what we did, it wasn't enough. But she's a nice lady though, but naaaaa. Mehn, I read your comment from beginning to end, that woman has severe anger issues and I'm almost sure she beats her husband at home. Nasty behaviour. Such a violent woman. |

Honestly, it not that stressful but very time demanding. Waking up as early as 4-4:30 am and closing by almost 7pm daily. It's one day off in a week. No observation of public holidays Are you learning and developing skills in your current job? If yes, I would advice you persevere.
