THIEVES. Even when they are in a country that works, they still resort to stealing others' hard earned money.

Nairaland tribalists will be confused on this one.
Newlymarried:
The US Department of Justice made the revelation on Thursday, May 2, saying that Osuji and his accomplices, John Wamuigah and Tolulope Bodunde defrauded their victims of over $6.3 million.

For the people above me -
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos PPRO has confirmed that the person behind the shooting has been identified as a police officer serving at Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.

DSS has also denied it's none of it's officers.

So which other prove do you need that it is truly not a DSS officer. I don't understand . Do you guys just choose to show temerity in your stupidity.
Exactly, I was wondering what else do people want to hear? I guess they just read the headline and started commenting.
Well, the culprit has been identified.

Enough of all this negativity. It's in the interest of every citizen to wish their country well and not be perpetually digging up negative news. The other pro-govt side too are no better, all they do is dish up propaganda and defend everything no matter what. No objectivity or balance from either side. You both should go and settle yourselves and let others focus on the true progress of this country.

If the manager of the station knew they were coming...then he knows the shooter. Simple as that. Police investigation should not be hard...if they truly are interested in bringing them to pay for this hideous crime.
Exactly. And why didn't the station staff inform those on the queue about this priority placement? Something a simple communication could have addressed resulted in this needless death. May the soul of the young man rest in peace.

I hope he's fine.
Most people who create informative, value adding threads are no longer active. Some view but don't comment or create threads. And I don't blame them, nairaland isn't it any longer.

PressMyButton:
Dangote collected dollars at cheaper rates from Emefiele, we know all that but Dangote is still doing big things and we appreciate him for that and that's why he was appointed a member of Jagaban's economic team. However, every sensible individual knows we can't afford to keep official rate at 460 while parrallel rate at 780 with huge monthly subsidy, thereby making few unscrupulous elements overnight billionaires through dollar arbitrage at a time 97% of our revenue were used in servicing debts. Definately, we can't continue like that.
It's "parallel", "definitely".

PoliticsRe: Landmark Demolition: I'm Glad I Left Nigeria - Tayo Aina by yewit37486: 4:45pm On May 01, 2024
Litmus:
Positive Nigeria content used to be Tayo Aina's bread and butter untill he discovered the power of portraying Nigeria negatively. Nigeria still feeds him but from the de-marketing of Nigeria perspective. If you're a Nigerian or black person, there is an entire world of Africans out there waiting to embrace, love and support you if you specialise in disrespecting and insulting Nigeria. This is however gradually changing as Nigeria slowly surmounts all the pushback and obstacles that comes from being a dynamic black nation on a planet that very much fights this.

Tayo has a superficially likable quality. He reminds me of those individuals that you get to really like but in time you begin to see that they lack the debt of character worthy of investment. The type that wouldn't be reliable friends when you most need them.
Yeah, ignore the message and attack the messenger. Classic.

We are done here as I have seen your reasoning.
My prayers is that someone else will tell you same thing when they revoke an investment you borrowed money to start just because they have the right. It’s easier to say when you or your parents are not involved.
I pray it happens to you and people will see nothing wrong with that
Does that guy look like someone that has money to invest in anything? No. And that is why you can see him gladly typing the nonsense he is typing without any empathy. Most of them justifying this do not have one kobo to rub together, no serious minded person will fail to see the danger in the precedent this action is setting and the impact on future investors.

Yeah right. Better leave discussions like these for serious investors that know what it means to invest their hard earned MONEY, not nairaland typists that sit on their ass typing platitudes.

How will the coastal road brings about new businesses when our posture as a country shows government can wake up and destroy businesses at will in the name of projects no sane investor will invest in the environment of uncertainty. Surely after this project there will always be another projects
This is the main issue. Especially since we are actively seeking for investors as a country, how on earth will we be making decisions that show such unseriousness. And we wonder why Maersk was quick to denounce the proposed $600m investment claim.

And the govt has come back to say they need their land back. while every structure on it will be destroyed
And that to you makes sense? So the government did not realise they would need the road when they were approving the location? Well, no surprises, a person without one kobo will find it easy to support destroying a hard earned investment since they don't have a kobo, poor man mentality.

I stand by every statement I made, If he likes let him go and build anywhere and see if it wont be demolished

Anywhere govt says is unlawful will be demolished
The point is he did not build anywhere, he built in a location approved by the government. Duh.

Govt determines the use of the land, According to the Land Use act of 1978 all land belong to the govt.
So let Tayo go and build his business and property anywhere or any country he likes, when the govt of the place bring bulldozer, he should relocate to another
I can see you can clearly not defend your initial comment, you are free to continue with the merry go round. Later they will be begging for investors to come to the country when they can't make sensible decisions.

Was the federal government or Lagos govt sleeping when he was building the beach resort, you can't tell me that he didn't get permission from the federal and state government before carrying out such expensive project, that's will be a big lie..I strongly believe govt officials gave him approval because you can't build something this big and expensive without government approval. So the govt is at fault to even allow him carry such project knowing fully well there was already a master plan in the first place but they have collected bribe and look the other way now they are saying all form of rubbish.
Let me say this Nigeria is a very lawless country, if this is UK or US or anywhere in Europe the govt must fully compensate for such losses before they can start destroying because the matter will be in court by now and they dare not do anything until the court says otherwise but as we dey Nigeria the federal government always think they are bigger than the court and they are above the law
That's my main concern with this issue. As a country, we say we are trying to get investors, which investor would have the confidence to put down their money in a country where their investment can be up in flames few years down the line?
PoliticsRe: Landmark Demolition: I'm Glad I Left Nigeria - Tayo Aina by yewit37486: 2:49pm On May 01, 2024

In the West that Tayo has gone to, Govt has the power to take away someone's private property for public use, with “just compensation.” in a process called Eminent Domain. Google it.
Stop deviating. Your point was "Let him go and build anywhere he likes", implying landmark built anywhere they liked which clearly isn't true.

When he gets to the country he is, Let him go and build anywhere he likes
Was landmark built anywhere the owner liked, was it not approved and legally purchased? So how does "let him go and build anywhere he likes" address his point? No investor would like to invest in a country where a government can just wake up tomorrow and demolish your hard earned investment. Address that instead of spitting out platitudes.
