I converted my individual gradrs from 100 to final year..changed A to 4.0,B to 3.5, C to 3.0, D to 2.5, E to 3.0 and recalculated maintaining my school's weighting system per year

With a Nigerian CGPA of 4.28/5.0, 3.64/4.0 after conversion is pretty much right. That would make you a first class material on the US 4-point scale (starting from 3.50 and above, i.e. Summa Cum Laude).

Check out these schools: University of Texas Austin, University of Houston, University of Texas Dallas, Georgia State University.

Plan to go thru as many materials as possible... Especially in verbal and A. W.
I'm going woth the belief that a near perfect score is very achievable and that's my aim.
Back then i was never serious with exams and tests and all that... But not anymore...
I want to be putting my utmost best..

Yh and they were timed... Most of the times I'm able to complete the quants in half the time allocated and still have fair enuf scores...
But i just loathe the verbal... cry

Hahahahahahhahahahahahahaha.

You either want to write the GRE or you don't; there is no dabbling. If you do, get the official guides and take the powerprep tests (you can download it from the ets website).

Any other way to gauge your performance is just irrelevant.

Power prep used to be the closest but isn't anymore. I had 166, 167 on both tests but ended up with a 161. Apart from the fact that you may lose your cool and focus in the actual test, the test has evolved from what it used to be in the yore.

Yorex2011, just get the ETS official questions, and practice as much as you can. I know you're smart, but it would be foolhardy not preparing yourself for the worst. You don't want to end up with less than what you bargained for, but still be compelled send your scores to "ivy leagues" because you didn't prepare yourself for the worst possibility. My 2 cents.

In other news...

Guys, imagine a school claiming they can't fund Masters now because of the dwindling oil price! Please if you've got a good profile, and wouldn't mind going for a PhD, please just by all means apply for a direct PhD instead. It would be easier getting into funded programs that way. These schools want some level of commitment, and 'working' for them for 2 years only to go get yourself some fancy job in the end don't often cut it for them.

Sure thing man.. Dedicating at least 7 weeks for my verbal and analytic part as those are my major concerns...
I'm hoping with a near perfect score i cud have more chance at funding

Are the questions in Manhattan 5lb books real GRE questions... Cos i just did one small test maths of 37 questions ans i got 34 correctly which could pass for a 166...and its just to test my current abilities... First one got 18/20..second 24/25...now 34/37...cos they look quite easy and I'm just wondering if these were the kind of things they ask in real GRE

Using bigfrancis21 gpa converting method... I got 3.64 on a scale of 4.0 for a 4.28/5.0 gpa... Converting each of my individual grades from 100 level to final year.
Plan on scoring at least 168 quant and 160 verbal in GRE. want to write around ending of march... My only issue is the verbal whicj i want to dedicate time to...

Plan to do a masters in Electrical Engineering..
Anyone with good schools with funding opportunities and average tuition should please help a brother out... Started reading the thread yesternight.. Currently on page 85..hope to complete all 200+ pages when i get home from work today.

Ok so I've decided to do my masters degree in the united states..
I know the basic steps are..
1.write GRE and toefl
2. Apply to the schools after you have done research and all that
3. Wait for admission
4. Get visa
5. Start school

What I'm more interested is funding... Thats the ONLY thing I'm really worried about as I'm basically a one man riot and there's almost no way of getting a sponsor, so I'd like to know if its possible.. To get some sort of funding to cover tuition and other stuff and i wont have to look for millions of naira before i can think of schooling in the US.

Please anyone that can help me out woth answers or advice will greatly appreciate.

Also what time for admission should i be targetting that'll be perfect and timely.

Tho looking at the connection i think it is wired in a way that only the data part of the otg goes to the phone then the power part is taken care of by the charger, tho that wont make sense as it defeats the purpose of on the go... The amount of things connected are too much.. I'd rather have a bluetooth mouse, a bluetooth keyboard, Bluetooth headset then my otg cable would be strictly for a gamepad and a thumb drive
